It was so lovely to turn up and be treated like long lost friends, we were upgraded to an Executive room which included the evening drinks and breakfast this was very unexpected and greatly appreciated.

Only negative for us during latest visit was the pre-paid breakfast. First impression of dining room re-design was re-freshing , however the functionality of it was confusing, slow and overloaded. Staying 3 night at Mercure, on the very last morning due to having breakfast 9am, the cue to restaurant was about 10m long. Without not knowning how long the waiting period would be, we decided to leave hotel. Should we prebook for a breakfast in the future booking with curren layout - we think not.

Overall ok this time. We had 3 rooms for a family birthday weekend. We were very disappointed in cleanliness of our room - dust on surfaces, long hair in base of shower, toothbrush packet was opened so didn’t use. Obviously left from previous people in room. Toilet didn’t flush properly. Very disappointed. Not the usual standard we’ve had when staying previously.

Although upon arrival everything looked Clean, when you take a closer look it is not that at all. The fan ventilation of the bathroom was not clean at all, same goes for the air conditioning vents. This will disperse bacteria and germs all over the room! The shower floor tiles were covered in black mould. I could see it because there was just a couple of places where the original white was visible. The base of the bed had a hole that seemed to be made by a mouse. I stayed in room 1211. I have pictures of all of this if you require further clarification of what I meant. I am not asking for compensation, just for this to be fixed for future guests. This made my shirt stay boot very pleasant, even though I only used it for spending the night. Also, charging for wifi when there is free in the city?

Overall, the hotel met our expectations. Breakfast was excellent in array and quality of offerings as were the competence and friendliness of staff providing table service and working the egg station. Maybe it was early in the day, but hosts at the restaurant reception desk could be a little more welcoming, smiles would be a bonus.

Pros - Good location for using free public transport to Suncorp Stadium, Excellent breakfast, friendly breakfast staff, nice public areas. Reasonable room rate. Cons - Check in experience poor - first of all could not find booking, then gave us room keys to another guest's room who luckily was not in when we opened their door! Was not told about breakfast, wifi or check out times. Later in stay asked for more towels as room was for 4 but we had only been given 2 towels - these never arrived. Room extremely tired and dated - gave the impression of not being clean- children didn't want to step into the shower. Marks on mirrors, tiles chipped. Was not warned of building work going on so opened the curtains on Monday morning to be greeted by a workman the other side of the window!

Hotel very conveniently located in the heart of the City. Staff were very welcoming and helpful, nothing was too much trouble for them. Would recommend this hotel for anyone wanting a short break in the city.

Booked and checked into the hotel all within an hour. Service was amazing and hotel room was lovely and clean with everything we needed for comfort. Good location to shops and restaraunts and the bus service we used.

Booked the Mercure because it was well located. Our room was described as having 2 beds on our booking forms, but were allocated a room with one bed overlooking the church. Was this a cheaper room? There was mould on the grout in the shower.

I stayed with Accor (Novotel, Swissotel, Sofitel, Ibis Styles and Mercure) in Brisbane, WOLLONGONG, Canberra, Sydney and Singapore. This is probably the most average experience so far. Reception was not overly friendly, I was not given an room upgrade. I had problems with the room keys when it was decoded several times, and the reception told me I must had put them with my phone which I had not done so. In other accor hotels, I was always made to feel special but not this one. However the concierge was helpful. I would not be staying here in the future. Very disappointing for a Gold member. Not happy at all.

« Good location and friendly staff. »

On entering our room it smelt like damp, mould. I asked reception to send someone up and they did. They sprayed Glen 20 it still smelt when we returned from a swim. Asked reception again. We went to Christmas parade in city and the enchanted garden. Came back still smelt I sprayed perfume and I put my children to bed. In morning I mentioned it to reception they said thanks we will tell housekeeping.
