« Overnight in the city to attend a wedding »

We picked the Mercure King George Square because of its location. I did phone on the day of our arrival to see if we could access the room earlier in order to dress for the wedding and was advised that this would be OK. However, the room was not ready when my husband tried to check in, and was still not ready after we returned to the hotel at 1.00 pm, so the receptionist (who was very helpful) moved us into another room, and this room was lovely, although we did not have much time to appreciate it. We were very grateful for her help. The hotel is undergoing renovations and the roof top pool and bar area was not open; we would have liked to have checked it out. We also had scaffolding around the outside of our room, but this was not an issue. It did cost $45 to have our car "Valet Parked" for the night, but this was a very necessary add-on. Breakfast the following morning was the usual buffet style big breakfast and was very nice.

« Faulty towers of Brisbane »

Check in slow. Accor members line takes longer than other check in queues. Room key did not work , had to cut key three times and get manager to open door to room. Restaurant meal was not as per menu (chips missing aioli). Meal and chips came at different times. Check out printer did not work so email came through that was not an itemised invoice. I asked again and same email came through; check out person did not know how to fix problem; poor attention to detail. Other than that, every thing else was fine; room was very good, breakfast was ok, dinner was good apart from comment above.

« Good hotel and service »

Great experience, central location, good bistro and cafe. Excellent friendly service. The gentleman at the concierge where we leave our bags has a great sense of humour. Very nice man!

Close to Brisbane shopping district and close to my conference. Good recommendation from the Accor guys as I was originally going to stay with the ichholme boutique studios

« Could have been better »

Disappointed in the accom. Put in a disabled room with no notification to say it was. There was only limited hot water. Enough for 1 shower. Had to boil the jug so I could get water hot enough for a shave.

« Average »

Long time waiting to check in and out - process seemed very slow and only one or two staff on the desk. The room was okay but had a chocolate wrapper by the side of the bed. Later when I went to bed I noticed the undersheet had not been pulled up to the end of the mattress and I had to make the bed myself. There was a good half a meter of bar mattress under the pillows .

« Good service and meets our needs »

We stayed at the hotel two times during our recent trip. Both times we requested for an Infant cot and connecting rooms. The cot was provided promptly after our check-in and though there wasn't connecting rooms available, the reception specially gave us adjacent rooms which is very convenient too. Various staff of Concierge were also very helpful in helping us to book and arrange a rental car for our trip to gold coast. However, the email correspondence can be improved as we emailed the hotel several times before our travel and there was slow or no replies. Overall, we are happy with the stays and will come back again.

« Smart TV's »

Its a nice hotel in a central position, but for me the Smart TV's are really annoying. I am deaf and like to watch the News etc and follow it using "Closed Captions", however the Accor Group has there TV's set up so that they can run movies etc. However to accommodate these functions they disable or remove the Caption function. It is such a basic but essential service for a hearing impaired person. Considering most hotels now maintain the Caption function whilst providing movies etc it is very annoying to book into a quality hotel and discover that I cannot even wind down and enjoy the news.

« Disappointing »

In house phone not working, no answer to any calls including housekeeping and even the emergency number. Asked at reception and they said they were having technical problems. Same story with wifi, not available either. Asked about using the pool but were told it is under renovation. Overall very disappointing and no compensation offered whatsoever.

« Persistently underwhelming for over several trips now »

I thought the hiccups during my previous couple of stays at the hotel would get better hence I'd not raised this previously but looks like they have gotten worse. I requested for another room shortly after I checked in as the first one was located outside the lift and I knew I wouldn't be able to sleep properly due to the noise. I had to attend a meeting when I made the request and was assured that my luggage would be available in the alternate room when I returned. However my luggage was no where to be found when I arrived in the alternate room. To my horror no one knew where it was for the next half hour. By this time I was running late to a work appointment and needed to retrieve the coat in my missing luggage as the weather was cooling down. It turned out that my bag had been sent to the wrong room. Also I returned later that night and found that the images were pixellated and the picture would come one and off for a couple of seconds. I didn't lodge a service call due to the poor experience previously as outlined further below. On two previous additional occasions, I had to ask at least twice before the TV in my room was serviced and that too on one of the occasions the image was still pixellated. On one of the occasions, I had to work with the repair man to figure out what was going on and I eventually found a temporary solution. It wasn't his fault as I understand that the hotel had just changed all the setup box and he wasn't familiar with the new technology. Another observation is that there is almost certainly a wait of about 15 minutes at the reception. I see a couple of your reception staff ( I recognise them from previous stays) walking around from one spot of the lobby to another and it made me wonder why they couldn't log in to the spare PC at the reception to assist with the growing queue of customers. The situation wasn't different one morning when I was trying to check out. After waiting for 15 mins I asked one of your reception staff whom I recognised (one of those who seemed to be walking around the lobby busy with something else except assisting with the crowd of people lining up at reception) whether I could just drop my key given the costs would be charged to my organisation but he told me that I need to personally check out. After a longer wait, I found out from the reception who checked me out that I could have just dropped my key in future given my company would be covering my accommodation. I wished there was consistency in information being shared with customers!

« A Pleasant Place to Stay »

We enjoyed the proximity to the Mall, the cleanliness of the room. We thought the supply of teas and milk was minimal. However, Amber on reception went above and beyond the call of duty in being super helpful in the most friendly way.
