« Central, Great Staff but expensive parking »

I have stayed at the Mercure King George Square a couple of times. It's a very reasonably priced hotel that is conveniently located in the heart of Brisbane. The rooms are modern, clean and comfortable. I had a wonderful sleep each night. There are lots of good on-site facilities too. There is a spacious bar, a restaurant, cafe and rooftop bar with views over the city. From the moment you arrive, all of the staff are friendly and helpful. In particular concierge were fantastic. I made the mistake of driving away from the hotel with my bag still out the front of the hotel. The staff looked after my bag and were very helpful when I had arranged someone else to collect my bag for me. The main negative of the hotel is car parking. The only option offered by the Hotel is valet parking at a cost of $50 per night. I stayed the week before in a nearby Accor hotel and paid only $28 per night for parking (self-parking). However, it should be said that the concierge offer a great service with the valet parking. Every time, I requested my car at a particular time, it was out the front on time. If you're arriving at the hotel without a car, you'll love all the hotel has to offer at a very reasonable price.

Encounter with all staff was brilliant Downside - room looking tired and dated in brown tones, restaurant a danger zone with floors & chairs that slippery that one of us had a fall, restaurant lovely as it was presented - food was not filling & too hip to meet appetite, breakfast was great (loved the omelette), roof top bar very cool place to have a drink but yet again food let it down....

Staff were wonderful. Very noisy outside the our room all hours of the night. Lift right outside our door. I was very disappointed with that. We had no hot water for the first day we were there.

Some maintenance concerns resulted in my having to move rooms due to bath water, when emptying, coming through bathroom floor outlet then, in the next room, I woke very early hardly able to breath as the air-con was not working - according to some staff it hadn't worked or ages. Thankfully, my 3rd room was fine and I had no concerns!!! Staff were lovely and I cught up with 2 staff who had been so nice when I'd stayed previously. Food was very good, too. It was relatively quiet so I slept well and the beds were very comfortable.

Location was perfect, staff were excellent and couldn't help enough but we did notice that the level we were on -5, needed some fresh paint and a few repairs. It looked tired with several paint marks and scuffs along most walls and could do with a freshen up.

The Manager Mercure Hotel King George Square, Brisbane Dear Sir/Madam, My husband and I used a Groupon Voucher for two night’s accommodation in your hotel on Monday 11th and Tuesday 12th I would now just like to question your procedure regarding adding costs to our credit card. We had a very bad night on Monday as our air conditioner unit had a malfunction causing large and very loud drips onto the carpet. This started near 2am and we tried heaping towels onto the floor to somehow stop the noise after putting up with it for a couple of hours but they got soaked quite quickly and we were back to square one. We then decided to turn it off completely at around 4 am after which the room got very stuffy. Needless to say I wasn’t very well when we went down to breakfast , the girl on the desk called the front desk to check on our discount then both my husband and I heard the lady mention $ 14 after discount (or that’s what we thought she said) . By the amount we were charged we definitely got that wrong as we had no idea we were going to be charged nearly $60 each day for breakfast. At no time was I given any register docket to sign or initial or anything that had the price written on it that would be charged to our card. I realise when we give our credit card details over on check-in that we are giving permission for you to use it for purchases but I still think there should be some form of acknowledgement of what you are putting on it. I know I have learnt a valuable lesson to double check costs in the future. I am also writing to the Department of Fair Trade regarding this practice as I think it should be seriously looked at. I would like to lastly say how very nice and friendly your staff are from all the front of house people to the cleaning lady who found me in bed on Monday at around 3 pm trying to get some relief from a very bad case of sinus . Her concern was very much appreciated. The repair of the air conditioner was done within a short time of us reporting it, maybe on reflexion we should have called during the night and reported it and maybe have been moved to another room would have had a better outcome all around. I’ve stayed for one night. Chose the Mercure over the Pullman purely due to the price. I’ve stayed two nights prior in the Pullman. Good sleep, the bathroom was clean but the overall maintenance needs a bit of attention.

Stayed 10 days and used my Accor Plus card at Goldfinch restaurant. Very friendly staff and food is good. If you are Accor Plus member Watch out for rip-off in Goldfinch café , which actually is not sign posted, one door has Accor plus accepted here, other entrance no sign and when I went to claim, sorry does not apply. Same named restaurant , just different exit/entrances!!?? Watch out for noisy construction next door , good if you don't want to sleep in.
