The staff and the food are exceptional. The staff from the cleaners, restaurant, reception to concierge are delightful and very helpful. The food was lovely - fresh and good variety. The only issue I had is that the room smelt of stale smoke. I am a non smoker so this did put me off a bit. Not sure if someone previously in the room has smoked against the rules or whether workers on the construction side are smoking and the smell is coming into the room. It was cigarette smoke smell and not bush fire smell (I live in the country and well and truly know the difference!).

Arrived late 10.30pm to a dirty room, hair all over the bathroom even on the wall tiles, rubbish on the floors. There was not enough towels in the room and had to wait till 11pm for more towels. Being a silver member I expected better, we were also put in a room were workers started at 6am with scrapping and removing bricks. We also stayed before our overseas trip and were charged for a beer that was not used by us, the reception staff did re credit this back but it dose leave the question as to weather the drink was never in the mini bar or was taken by a staff member.

My husband & I were looking forward to a night away but our experience was average. There was a lot of confusion on payment as I mentioned I had a gift card when I checked in & was told to wait till check out. I presumed it was in the system that we were paying that way as the only way I could make a booking was using the card customer line. But the check out lady rushed ahead & took the money from our credit card and was quite rude explaining that there was nothing in the system of the gift card. She voided the payment but it wasn't my responsibility to tell should have been on the file as I mentioned it at check in. I also went into the bar to ask for a cup of ice as it was 38 degrees outside & the lady was very rude & reluctantly gave me some ice. Lastly we were concerned that the workmen would wake us up early Sunday morning but nobody could say when they actually worked. We wanted to avoid construction noise as we live around it daily but very disappointing to arrive & have workmen outside our window. Overall our stay was nothing "special"....more stress, then a relaxing night away.

We travelled to Brisbane with short notice to attend my niece's funeral after a rather harrowing week watching her die. Whilst we have great praise for the reception staff who were helpful on arrival, we were woken at 6.20am by noise coming from outside the building from the workers who were taking down scaffolding, hammer drilling into the wall of our room, extensive use of their lift. I phoned and spoke to the duty manager who simply apologised and laid the blame on reception staff who "shouldn't have put us in that room." We had arranged a late check out to allow us some time to sleep and recover but alas that wasn't to be. We checked out much earlier than planned and waited for our plane to leave at 8.10pm that night! Whenever we travel to Brisbane, we stay exclusively at the Mercure and have recommended it to our many friends and family who, in turn, have stayed with you. I doubt that they would continue to do so given the experience we had with you on this stay!!!!!!

During our two night stay, we found the staff very helpful at all times. A clean room, comfortable bed, well equipped gym, roof-top pool, great meals (especially the perfect breakfast omelette) and all at a reasonable price!

We were put into the wrong room and then got woken up at 6am on a Saturday to constant construction work. Was not happy at all. However once we got moved to a different room our stay was very good. The staff were very nice as well.
