« Great location, poor service »

What a great facility in an unbeatable location ..... however, during our stay the hotel was woefully understaffed, particularly in the F&B areas. Service in bar and restaurant was dreadfully slow, and staff kept explaining that they were "understaffed". When we're paying $500 a night, that shouldn't be our problem. Housekeeping standard was very poor. Furnishings very dirty and worn. Having said all that, the limited staff that we came across were all very pleasant, and trying to provide a good service with limited resources.

Hotel is located conveniently at Circular Quay with easy access to the ferries and The Rocks area. Was pleasantly surprised when finally getting into our room (we had dropped our luggage off earlier in the day) to find a welcome plate of candies for the kids. Staff were friendly helpful during our very short stay. The room was perfect for our family of 4 as it had 2 rooms, a well-supplied kitchenette, and washer/dryer as extra bonus.

« Tired furnishings and insufficient staffing levels given room rate would have led to me giving a '4' rating however positive response by staff to change room to meet the room request in my booking led to me rating it a 6. »

I booked our stay as a surprise for my family and a week before the stay requested a high floor room to the north of the building away from trains as my husband is a light sleeper. Arrived to be given a low floor room (406) near trains. When we walked into the room our disappointment was magnified when we found buckled carpet, dirty rug, chipped furnishings, shabby room compendium and a sofa bed for my daughter that tilted downwards and was extremely uncomfortable. When I expressed my concerns your Duty Manager agreed to move us the following day to a different room (702) which was much better on the noise front but equally shabby. We were very impressed by the attentiveness of your staff when we complained, as well as organising a move the next day ,they sent a bottle of wine up, however there was nothing they could do about the quality of the furnishings. When we rang to ask for a standard pillow for my daughter as the bed had been made up with European ones we were told there were none in the hotel. We were surprised that reception staff carried the bags to the room and service was slow in the restaurant at breakfast - it seemed in general that there were too few staff given the high occupancy. This is certainly not what I expect from Accor and given the room night price of Quay Grand. When we went to the pool the spa was not working which was very disappointing. I seem to remember that it was not working last time we stayed and that was years ago.

Booked the family into a 1br harbour view room. The view does not disappoint. Absolutely breathtaking!!! Staff are helpful. We were there during an extremely busy time. Sometimes we could not get through to front desk for hours. I would suggest they employ either more staff or at least have a call back option so they can get back to you rather than you unsuccessfully trying to reach them for a long time. I understand, the suites are about to get refurnished which is great news. We will definitely be back here.

« Beautiful as always »

Prior to joining a cruise we always stay at the Pullman, the position is magnificent and very convenient. Our only slight disappointment this stay was to find on checking out that breakfast was included, which we were never told on arrival, nor was it mentioned in any of our paperwork. Guess we were silly not to enquire! However the rest of the hotel experience was great, and it certainly is a bonus to have the kitchen and laundry facilities, especially if you stay a few days and can board your ship with all laundry up to date.

On 31st we (my wife, our son and me) had a pancake breakfast outside the hotel (Pancake on the Rock) and share all plates. At 7pm we shared a sandwich at the opera befor attenting the show, had a beer at 11pm at the bar in the hotel, watched the firework and had room service afterwards. We shared all plates except the spaghetti, which our son ordered. He ate have of the spaghetti and I had a mouth full, my wife none. At around 8am on 1st Jan. he vomited the first time and thereafter several times, while I was able to vomit at around 10am. The staff assured that we were the only one having this problem, despite many plate of spaghettis being sold. When leaving on the 4th of Jan. We asked the concierge to help get a taxi for the airport he remained behind his desk and answered you can easily get one yourself, which we did with our four luggage’s, but struggling a bit. Needless to mention that I paid slightly more than 11’000 Australian Dollar for the night.

« Wonderful location and room but aging, needs rennovation. »

Our 4th stay, we love this hotel but rooms need sime updates/rennovations. Inside sun shades on some windows did not work, someone came to fix them but still did not work. Phone in bathroom clearly ripped off, tape that was holding it not removed. Would be nice to provide shower cap amenity.

Maybe repair drapes and upgrade bathroom fittings and carpet would be a huge improvement for the apartment and it deserves a fan outside on the deck. Easy and not too expensive. « Good, but.... »

Room was lovely. Service was lovely. Shower was awful. Moved fro scalding to freezing, with no way to fix on any temperature. Abysmal. Also, internet was pathetic. Requiring a guest to sign in repeatedly with a totally obscure login and password is insulting. We travel a considerable amount including annual trips to Ghana. and have never had such an experience. It definitely would give us pause to stay at any Accor hotel worldwide.
