« Truely wonderful stay sadly tarnished by rude staff »

This was a last minute stay to celebrate my partners promotion. We were excited and really looking forward to a night of spoiling ourselves with a luxury staycation! As a past patron of the Accor hotels group who as always had exceptional service, the Pullman was my first and only choice for this occasion. After calling ahead to check the availability of last minute accommodation, my partner and I walked to the venue after enjoying dinner and drinks in the Opera house precinct. Upon arrival we were greeted and made to feel very welcome by the friendly Reception team. Jonty was very friendly and professional during check in, as I have always experienced with your hotel group. Jonty made this impromptu celebration even more special by offering a bottle of complimentary Sparkling wine, arranging a beautiful room with Harbour views, and arranging a late check out. The room was beautifully presented, clean, the view spectacular! While indulging in room service we also experienced fabulous service, overall leaving myself and my partner feeling very special and spoilt, just as I had hoped. As we had arranged for breakfast the next morning as recommended by Jonty at check in, we wandered down to the restaurant feeling happy and relaxed. Unfortunately this is where our experience was tainted. As this had been a last minute decision we had been unprepared, as such were dressed casually and feeling a little self conscious of our 'under-dressed' state. Upon arriving at the restaurant we patiently waited at the hosts stand as I could see all team members were currently busy. We we seen by all team members but were not offered any form of acknowledgement or greeting; not even a 'head nod'. After a considerable length of time we were joined at the desk by a team member (clean and polished appearance) who offered no welcome or good morning simply asked 'what is your room number please' which I felt was quite rude but was willing to overlook. This staff member was unable to confirm our breakfast reservation, I presume as it had been a last minute check in so went to get her manager/supervisor - with no explaination, just walked away. The restaurant manager/supervisor then came to the desk (looking untidy and quite disheveled) again no greeting offered, simply what is your name and room number. She then proceeded to flick through her papers with no acknowledgement of myself or my partner and then asked 'are you sure you have paid for breakfast? I have no record of your paying'. I tried to explain we had arranged breakfast at check in with Jonty the previous evening, and that it had been a last minute check in. She was not interested in what I had to say and cut me off by picking up the phone (again with no explanation of her actions) to call the front desk, she then very loudly asked the team 'G. 905 have they paid? I have no record of them paying' At this point I was mortified, this has been happening for over 15 minutes, standing in the centre of the restaurant with all the other guests watching on. As mentioned I was already feeling self conscious as I felt under dressed for the hotels restaurant, but to then be treated in such a way, judged, left feeling totally unwelcome, as if we were inadequate. I had to walk away from the desk, away from the scene as I was so embarrased. Your restaurant manager/supervisor then did confirm our breakfast arrangement with my partner who was still at the desk. My partner asked if I would like to go elsewhere as he could see how uncomfortable I was made to feel, and could see sitting in such an open setting would only add to my discomfort. He then asked the manager/supervisor if he could have a quiet word as he was also aware of the other guests watching this scene unfold. He explained we would not be staying for breakfast in the hotel, and that the way she had chosen to treat me was both 'rude and very unprofessional'. She seemed to be quite taken aback by this comment, and was very aggressive in her response. My partner feeling my discomfort while standing just out of sight left this conversation and came to me where we then proceeded to leave the hotel to find breakfast elsewhere. I was extremely upset by this experience as I hope you can understand, and it really did ruin for my partner and I what was otherwise a truely fabulous stay. I am glad to say when checking out of the hotel I was treated with respect and kindness by your assistant manager Virginie (neat and polished presentation). I had quietly asked Virginie for the managers card so I could email my feedback as I did not want to really discuss the situation at the front desk in the the hotels reception, and while still trying to capture the magical feeling of night before's celebration. I did briefly explain what had occurred, and Virginie very kindly removed the unfulfilled breakfast reservations from my bill. I was very grateful for Virginie's kindness and assured her I would communicate my concerns as soon as I had a moment. I have taken some time to consider my response, as I am not someone who would usually make a complaint. Given the circumstances, where I was made to feel so uncomfortable and upset I am asking for action to be taken accordingly. I could not understand why as hotel guests, we were not simply seated to enjoy our breakfast, and then when the bill was presented asked our payment preference whether it was to pay immediately or charge the meal to the room for payment to be finalised at check out on the credit card already on file. No acknowledgement or greeting, rude behaviour and judgmental treatment is not what I expect from a five star hotel. I cannot believe your in house management team who were so kind and professional when encountered, would be happy to think this is how the Pullman brand is being represented to your clientele.

For a 5 star hotel it was pretty disappointing. Our room was 607 the bathroom cabinet had bits of the door falling off,the vent above the spa was filthy dirty, the decor was very average, we waited 40mins for our breakfast to be served, which the food was not restaurant quality omelette was so dry & cold, sausages were burnt toast was heated up bread, while people who came in after us had there food. Spa in pool wasn’t working pool room wasn’t excatly clean. The internet was so slow or it wouldn’t connect at all. The staff were friendly but not very helpful with complaints.

Very large suite, situated so we could see but not hear the hustle and bustle of the Quay..extremely polite and caring staff who welcomed us and made mention of the reason we were visiting and celebrating at the Pullman Quay side. We enjoyed breakfast in the dining room ... in all a very relaxing time. We would love to come again some time soon.

good hotel - a little tired on the internal room fit-out but still very good. breakfast was not so great with long delays and it was not the girls serving , whom were great- its just the set up of the kitchen seems to be making the breakfasts elsewhere and taking a long time. I would suggest a buffet on main items and more special orders can be taken for extra items such as an omelette or whatever.

My husband and I loved the stay - the room was beautiful and the staff very helpful Breakfast at Q Dining was exceptional too. The only 2 things I would suggest is to get on house movies put onto the TV that is in the bedroom and also there were problems with the fridge - it wasn't running very cold

« My new favourite Sydney escape »

Just discovered this gem. I needed a hotel very close walking distance to the restaurant where we were celebrating a birthday. I also wanted a hotel ‘room’ with extra space for the family to have coffee and cake afterwards. The Pullman was this and more! Fresh, modern decor. Very friendly staff. Comfortable bed and couches. Handy kitchenette. Quiet, AND fabulous harbour view. Breakfast was a la Carte which makes it a quiet, calm experience rather than the busyness of buffet madness. The location is perfect. Close to station and ferries. Close to Opera House and Botanical gardens. This is our new favourite hotel to stay while in Sydney. Thank you Pullman.

« Mostly an excellent experience that reached expectation, but slightly marred by few "little things" »

Wonderful FOH Staff - friendly, attentive, polite & professional. Let down by trivial detail outside of their control..... 2 x Absolutely stone motherless cold breakfasts (Eggs Benedict) served in the restaurant on Saturday morning (replaced immediately with fresh (and hot) second serving along with a profuse apology). Broken internal blinds (worn out roller chains) in room - wound down but would not rewind back up.....Operated on by Maintenance promptly (but not actually repaired) so as we could enjoy the Sunset view from our room. Impeccable room cleanliness.

« Few issues but was just okay »

Room/Staff was helpful and fine. There were few issues which I would like to highlight. - The wooden cabinet in the living area under TV had crooked doors and it was hanging loose from hinges. - same issues with few cabinet doors in kicten - Internet wifi signals in the room were next to none so had to fall back 4G - Our Jacuzzi never worked, we asked the cleaning team to have a look at it (they told us we might not be using it correctly) and also complained once evening to the staff at front desk (they said no one from maintenance team is here - and they never did a follow up on any of these complains). - Tried calling the front desk and room services couple of times, no one picked up the call at any time but we ended up calling Duty Manager and they picked up the call. Seems like something is broken and calls are not routed properly if staff is busy etc... Overall experience was just okay - but could've been much better.
