Good budget hotel, son very impressed with breakfast, though coffee is not as good as the French Ibis Styles! Seemed to be an issue with the airconditioning in the room - it only stayed on for a couple of mins, then turned itself off...

Decent Budget Hotel, Great Shower

The check-in was good and the comfort of the room was fine. Bathroom and shower facilities great. 2 complaints were that the curtains appeared too small, so when the sun came up at 5am the whole room was very bright which wasn’t ideal. Also the amount of external noise was not blocked out. I appreciate there is a DLR station opposite and also London City Airport nearby however all of this was very audible inside the room. I didn’t notice this when staying at the other Ibis at Excel a few weeks ago.

I’ve stayed at this hotel many times for the same event. Everything as expected, hot breakfasts have been brought back which was is a plus, even though I follow a vegan diet. It would, I feel, be beneficial to clearly label different food items with allergies and dietary inclusions. I.e. cereal. Issue with the shower throughout the stay which by the end got worse as well as the air conditioning being broken on the last night and no option of a fan being offered. Despite the problems staff remained polite and helpful and we were compensated for our issues. I expect to stay again soon, as I frequent an event at the excel and it’s convenient location. Although due to the popularity of the event, prices skyrocket, making it harder and harder to attend the event, and will soon be priced out of my budget.

Very impressed with the cleanliness of the hotel. Amazing and fresh breakfast every morning to start the day. Room was extremely clean and cleaned daily with fresh towels. However, the beds are not the comfiest and it is a very warm hotel. Air conditioning facilities are built in but the one in our room didn’t work.

I didn’t stay, I cancelled in the AM of the arrival date. I had free cancellation of both the rooms up till 2PM of the arrival date. Yet I was still charged £159.98. I would like this fully refunded

Airco did not work and wasn't fixed. Was broken before because the fan suggested by the reception was already present in the room. Warm water in the sink took very long to get warm. Wi-Fi not always stable. Many interruptions during calls and watching some tv stream. Room was very nice and breakfast was perfect (except for the bacon which was very thick).

Really well looked-after by pleasant and helpful staff (Shariff), quite modern, comfortable and clean facilities with a good breakfast selection the next morning. Really good value-for money stay, two minutes walk from DLR station. * Only downside was returning to hotel after a nice family day/night out, to walk into a foyer full of guests, mainly workmen, all drinking and a couple drunk, having been moved out of the adjoining pub at closing time.

We stayed at the Ibis Styles Excel due to its location to the O2 concert venue ,The hotel scores well in the staff helpfullness, cleanliness and value .sadly our romm was in a semi basement location and pretty dingey and smelled strongly of air freshner ,bathroom was clean but showing signes of its age .We only stayed one night so it was tolerable but would have asked to be moved if our stay had been longer! Breakfast was good lots of food and good quality. I have to say in fairness this was not an expensive night stay in a handy location so perhaps I am being too critical .

Rooms in the 5th floor “annexe” are paper-thin so everything can be heard. The doors crash, the plumbing creaks, the noise echoes around. It was surprising to get a twin room when everything on the sales site emphasised the luxury double. That said, the beds were very very comfortable. I’m curious what the proclaimed “extras, at no extra cost” consist of. A small bottle of mineral water? Our cups runneth over - NOT. The psychedelic hallway carpets were esoteric to the point of hypnotic. Or the sort of a design that only an accountant could love (cheap). On the plus side: Breakfast buffet was of a limited choice but delicious and the staff on duty were excellent. The place is being renovated. Might be best to wait until it’s done.

The bare bones are there, but missing the things that I needed for this stayo

I was a little frustrated by this stay. There was WiFi, but it didn’t work. There was AC, but it didn’t work. I also got locked out of my room 3 times with defective keys (not deactivated by a phone - they were brand new replacements). I was staying here for exams at the excel center and housekeeping would come around at 5pm, when I was using the room to study. This meant over a 5 night stay, I could never get the bins emptied etc. The room itself was fine, but those boggles made it a frustrating stay.

I booked the Mason suit which stated one queen bed one single. My brother ended up sleeping for four nights on a sofa bed. We had to repeatedly ask your staff for bedding.

Very underwhelming for a short and expensive stay

The air con was broken in the room, so we had to have the window the entire time, which wasn;t ideal as there is a pub attached to the hotel, and there was a lot of noice due to an event at the Excel. 3 members of staff at reception when we checked in, yet none of them checked us in, they called ANOTHER person to do it. Your systems don't accept Mastercard, which meant my card was initially declined. This is crazy as a LOT of credit/debit cards are Mastercard wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
