Room is spacious and clean with street view. Staff is polite and helpful. the hotel is conveniently located.The bus for Keyuan Garden and Opium War Museum stops right outside the hotel. Travellers can easily find restaurants nearby.

If you don't plan to stay to over weekends nor more than 1 week, this hotel is fine for day-in-day-out business trip. There's no fancy gym nor swimming pool, room is adequately equipped if you are given the room with bathtub.

Some room is noisy on water pipe. I always book for executive type room with bathtub, but it sometime unavailable without notice. I only be informed when I arrive hotel. I think this should be fair to inform upfront.

Bed frame was torn out, aircon was totally not cold and alot of yellow stains on the edges of floor. been telling the staff alot of the aircon issue but nothing was done. totally disappointed!

« Just nice for business travellers »

Basically this hotel is targeted for business travellers. Other than that, I was always given the smallest room compared to my colleagues, even though I hold the membership the longest. It's near to a Starbucks if you get bored with the breakfast over long stay. The Wi-Fi is excruciatingly unstable during peak hours (between 8PM - 12AM) and they are unsecured.

i stayed in grand mercure for many many times and i have experienced air conditioning issues many times as well, i have written feedback before but it was unheard. I stayed in room 1503 and again i experienced the room which is not cold enough and every night i have to wear minimal without covering myself with blanket. Please do something about the air con. This is a accor group of hotel and the room should not be in this way.

« Not Acceptable Approach - Front desk Staff (During Check Out) »

I would like to commend Ms Rose of Sales /Front Office and Michelle at front office who is very welcoming and helpful. Also the front office Manager Ms Cassie. Just wanted to point out that i am very dis appointed with the front office staff who assisted me during check out - i forgot to get his and her name but it was totally unacceptable as they were accusing me of getting 2 towels at the check out counter - where people can hear the conversation. To cut the story short and because I am in hurry as i need to catch my meeting and flight back to SG i have paid for what is missing - 2 face towels i guess.. the umbrella is i can accept as i really left it at the shop and only realize that i lost it when i reached the hotel room. They should learn the art of courtesy and politeness in dealing with such situation and not put the guest on the spot. It is such an embarasing moment. It can happen to other guest as well. Please try to be discrete and make sure you dont put your guest on the spot. You need to protect their feelings..

« It’s just or not worth the Grand Mercure name. Perhaps a Novotel »

Being a platinum card holder my status was not recognised as such. No room upgrade/welcome drink were offered at check in. I subsequently asked the reception if I were entitled to any of these the lady did apologise and offered me a welcome gift. I declined the offer. The air con doesn’t really work as it should do I imagine during the height of the summer the room temperature would be unbearable. As a whole it’s an ok hotel and reasonably priced. However having the name Grand Mercure had raised my expectations therefore I think a Novotel perhaps Mercure is more suiting for the property. I also was asked to pay 1000 RMB as deposit. I have no qualms to pay a deposit, but it appears that the Accor service standards are so inconsistent. I normally do not get asked to pay a deposit but when in China I always get asked whether it’s a Sofitel or an Ibis. I am also a gold Hilton HHonor member and I stayed at their property in Guangzhou prior to my stay in Dongguan, I was never asked to pay a deposit there.
