It was nice hotel with updated room decoration. Convenient walking distance to the station and take Eurostar. Overall is satisfied with my stay.

« stopover in paris »

Needed a stopover on the way back from the south of France to England.Stayed in this hotel because of the proximity to the Gare du Nord.Situation was good and Privilege room was fine.Breakfast offered a good choice and we were able to walk to the canal , where there was a good selection of Restaurants

It brings me a lot of sadness to be writing this email to you after all the wonderful experiences I have had with Accor Hotels. I had booked a privilege room in Mercure Gare Du Nord La Fayette from the 3 to 6 July for my vacation in Paris. I was hoping for some warm hospitality and a really comfortable stay but sadly, it had been my most terrible experience. Please find below my points : 1) The room that I was allotted was 101, which was clean but the AC was not working. I let it go for a night and complained the next morning to the reception but they had very good excuse "It's very hot, what can we do". Just to let you know that there were a lot of people complaining about the AC. 2) I had given my clothes for laundry and they lost my clothes which cost about 250 euros. I called the reception and they were like sorry, the company have lost your clothes. I told the hotel Manager about this and he offered me 2000 Accor points. Are you serious? 40 euros of points for 250 euros lost clothes? This is appalling and shameful. 3) My room was not cleaned the first day. I came back to a unkept room with no fresh towels. I again went down to the reception and they said they have no bathing towels. This is again very surprising. 4) The breakfast in the morning was over the first day. We had to wait 20 minutes for your staff to get the food. 5) Today, the room was cleaned but no water or toiletries were replenished. Very shocking. 6) The reception staff is so rude and nasty, they don't care about anything but themselves. 7) I did mention all of this to the hotel manager Nickolas Chai but his response was 2000 Accor points. Even after such embarrassing situations, no one had the decency to apologize or even make things better. I did not expect such a horrible experience and I will never ever visit this hotel again. I hope you look into this and take appropriate action. Looking forward to hearing from you.

« Very pleasant in every respect! »

I was a solo traveler, in Paris for just one night. I needed a hotel that was an easy walk (with luggage) from the Gare du Nord, practical, clean, comfortable, reasonably priced, and safe. Mercure delivered on all counts! The room was very pleasant, spotlessly clean, and had all the essential comforts I needed. The bed was extremely comfortable. WiFi was free, and double-paned windows kept out the street and train noise. The morning breakfast buffet was quite satisfactory, and I had a remarkably good glass of wine from the lobby bar. My French is tres mal, and the bilingual staff was appreciated. My only small complaint was I could not get the thermostat in the room to function well. Fortunately it was cool the night I stayed, so I was able to do without needing air conditioning. Other than that, Merci beaucoup and au revoir!

Lovely hotel in a good location. We stayed in a room facing the road so it was VERY noisy through the night and we had an initial problem of lights not working. But it was quickly and efficiently resolved so we had a good stay. Breakfast was also very good.

« Clean, efficient and purpose made for tourism. »

Adequate sized room with clean efficient housekeeping. Situated a few minutes walk from Gare De Nord made it convenient for Metro in assisting sightseeing. Breakfast was good and the choice very good (e.g. fresh grapefruit and orange segments and cooked food always available).

My whole experience in your hotel is solely based by the bad first impression. After arriving to the hotel my son and I were issued a room key. We proceeded directly to the room, hoping to get some rest after a long car drive from Germany. We found the room still dirty from the previous customers. The sheets were messed up, stuff thrown all over the room, dirty towels still on the floor in the bathroom. We checked in after 4:30. There is no excuse to, first of all, having a dirty room at this time of day, and what's most important, letting us in into this dirty room!! I was appalled. We will choose a different hotel for our next stay.

Convenient hotel for both Gare du Nord/Est and Eurostar. Lift wasn't working on both days and the hotel itself is very hot. (Air con in room worked well)

« I use this hotel quite frequently when in Paris but was disappointed on this visit compared to previous times I have stayed at the hotel »

The first room I was given the air conditioning was not working and the room was very hot, although this was quickly resolved and I was moved to another room - which was better but the air conditioning controls still did not seem to work very effectively. At breakfast there were no scrambled eggs or bacon available and I did not have time to wait until fresh supplies were brought, so missed out on my 'normal' breakfast.

Breakfast was meant to be served until 10am.When I went at 920 am I was amazed that most of the breakfast selections were not available. When we pay for something we expect the breakfast to be available.The lady was packing away things and not interested in making sure the customers had the full range.The boiled eggs were turned off,2 small sausages only,a little bit of ham and a few crossisants.The scrambled eggs cold. The next day I went for breakfast at 8 am and the full breakfast was available. Basically I would never recommend this breakfast.I even warned other guests about the poor breakfast. On a positive note,my airconditining was working and the nice lady at reception was helpful and the problem was solved.

Reception staff and breakfast room staff friendly and very helpful. However this is our first experience staying in a Mercure Hotal over the years with plastic and paper cups in the bedroom and bathroom. The breakfast room was staffed by only one person over the three mornings we were there and the lady was very busy and barely keep up replenishing the food etc and greet and seat the guests coming in.There was also no soap bars in the bathroom and we had to bring our own from the local pharmacy. Full marks for your reception staff for giving good advice on transport, sightseeing and places to eat and drink in Paris and beyond.

« Reasonable Hotel »

It is a reasonable hotel considering in the center of Paris. The staffs are nice and friendly, you can feel the warm welcome. It was not a lucky day, Paris was very hot that day and the air conditioning is broken at the lobby of the hotel, was very hot there. The room is kind of small, we can hardly turn around in the both room and toilet.

We really enjoyed our stay, but found that when booking in the gentleman behind the desk was incredibly brusque and not at all helpful. We were also not made aware that the hotel doors would be closed on an evening and how to get access into the building. Unfortunately we visited during a very hot spell and had a lack of cold water in our shower and no air con! But I'd consider staying again, perhaps with a warmer welcome.
