Overall pleasant, comfortable and secure. Points to improve: Room was a bit noisy during the power cut and I had to iron my own shirt (no service) and breakfast was very average, in particular poor quality of fruit salad and average pastries

We could not get the air conditioning to work, and had no one to help us make it work. I believe it was faulty. While we stayed in the room we ran out of both toilet paper and tissues. Neither were fully stocked on our arrival. There was also only an all in one body/hair wash in the shower which was also empty. And most unusually there were no ceramic cups in the room for a hot drink, only two small paper cups. The reception staff on the other hand were very nice and perhaps overworked.

A lovely room (free upgrade). Couldn't be faulted, with comfortable bed, great pillows, free Nespresso coffee maker and free drinks cabinet (non alcoholic). Very friendly and helpful staff.

« A tad disappointed »

I have made Mercure Gare du Nord my go to hotel for several years. I knew it was under renovation when I came last spring, so I unwittingly typed in Gare du Nord on the Accor website and was directed to the La Fayette page. I did not realize that the there were two Mercures called Gare du Nord, so I made the reservation. You can imagine my surprise when I arrived, and realized the mistake. When I did find the hotel, I was very disappointed. Walking 400m was not what I wanted to get to the Metro every time, and having to pass a large Sex shop was unpleasant. The girl who checked me in was borderline rude, very curt and not welcoming. The room was quite small and the sheets had small yellow stains. It was not what I was expecting and had I realized my error in time I would have changed to the Ibis across from the station.

« Small but perfectly formed »

I had two very good nights' sleep at this small hotel. I was made to feel welcome and was impressed with how well designed my tiny room was – the use of space was optimised so that it felt cosy rather than cramped. The room was very clean but had a few cosmetic imperfections (a stain on the carpet and signs of rust in the bathroom). The breakfast buffet was nice, though the hot food had run out one hour before closing time on the Saturday (the Sunday was better).

Staff helpful, friendly and efficient. Room comfortable and quiet. Hotel location excellent for public transport (rail, RER, metro and bus). BUT The toilet-pan in my bathroom was filthy and had not been properly/fully cleaned for weeks. On one morning when I went down to breakfast at 07.45 many of the items were unavailable (including bacon, scrambled egg, bread) because a group had arrived a few minutes earlier and consumed most of what had been put out.

« We only stayed one night , but the room was fine »

While the room was fine the bathroom was curious. A glass partition and sliding glass door, whilst being visually interesting isn’t really practical for a shared bathroom. Might be fine in a single. I would also like to say that as it’s a double, 2 people, maybe 2 suitcase stools would be useful?

it was globally g... there was a plumbing white noise on the room 706 like a flowing faucet ... but without any water flow after that i checked it at 2 A.M

My wife and I enjoyed our stay, we were upgraded to the priviledge room which was appreciated. The location suited our need which was to be near the Gare du Nord for an early train the next morning. The receptionists were kind and helpful. The breakfast was very good.

Excellent location in the heart of Paris close to Gare du Nord. Warm and pleasant breakfast. Reception is friendly and welcome nicely. Most of the food stated in the menu was not available: a weakness that need to be addressed.

Catalina was brilliant and made us feel incredibly welcome and gave us great recommendations for eating out. It was my birthday and everyone made me feel really looked after, the room was lovely, lots of space and had great Paris rooftop views - we were in 7th floor! Can’t wait to go back.

My stay at the Mercure at Gare du Nord was perfect for the purpose of my visit. The room was clean, the bed comfortable and the location is excellent for the purposes of my short business trip to Paris. I must adit that turning on those small tubular reading lamps set into the bed's headboard was beyond my skill set but it was not a problem. Most importantly the staff at the front desk were very excellent. I appreciated the upgrade to a better room but the main reason I will be back is because of the friendliness of the front desk staff. They were the only staff I met (I did not have breakfast or have call to ask for any services) but the gentleman on the desk when I arrived on Oct 31 and the two ladies who helped me during the following day could not have been more friendly and helpful. Given the limited status of my French their excellent English helped enormously.
