« A wonderful place to stay with in Urumqi »

I needed a quiet place to get away a few days during new year holiday in Urumqi to think about 2018 business in 2018, and I chose Grand Mercure Urumqi Hualing. A pleasant stay as before. My room was upgraded, Ms. Li Jin and Mr. Sha Lei, the front office managers are very welcoming and facilitating my stay extension. I keep dinning in Veranda Cafe and Thai Restaurants, all staff are friendly and attentive, Abudula and other managers are very familiar with me as I kept dinning in Hualing for many years when I am in Uruqmi. The Thai chef always greeting me with Savadika. In breakfast, chefs make omellete very good. The room1402 is spacious, kind of suite lay-out with a seperate yurt-style room, which was very nice. Sometimes I met Mr. Ishak the general manager in Veranda cafe, saying hello for short talk in English. He keeps overseeing the food and service. Ms. Coco, the Sales Director sometimes we talk, and she listen to my opinion. I like this hotel, restaurants and rooms, as people there offer best convenience to me.

The hotel is clean, the staffs are polite n cooperative, informative for the guests coming for the first time to Urumqi, especially the concierge on duty. The breakfast menu is delicious. But the pillows have to be upgraded as those are flat n not comfort for the neck.

« Excellent, marvellous »

Pillows are too flat, pls change or upgrade the pillows. For other room services are excellent, also for the hospitality of the staffs are wonderful. Breakfasts are yummy. Hotel location is really downtown surrounded by shops n restaurants. Very comfortable to go many places by taxi.

« Comfortable rooms, good location and very helpful staff »

We stayed in the hotel for 3 nights 17-20th October. The concierge and counter staff were very accommodating. They verified the terminal of our flight, informed the taxi driver (who doesn't understand English) as to where to send us and sent us off. The rooms are comfortable, spacious and clean. The buffet breakfast are both Western and Xinjiang. We enjoyed them heartily especially the sliced beef with Xinjiang noodles or placed the beef with salad in between the buns ( voila, you have Subway sandwich). The hotel's location is excellent. We took the bus to Danxia Rainbow Mountains and to the International Grand Bazaar. Got back to the hotel by taxi and the elevator by the side entrance from Hualing Commercial Centre took us directly up to our floor.

« It was good family stay with helpful staff »

I was enjoyed my stay with family in your hotel. Service was not bad. Reception girls is very polite and helps me a lot. But compare to another hotels from Accor group I was not felt as a platinum member. For everything what I'm entailed I have to ask by my self. The staff doesn't know much about benefits. So this part was made me like a beggar and not felt any special attention as a Platinum member of Accor Hotels.

As in the title - it's a nice hotel, breakfast was ok (obviously the Chinese breakfast offered a better selection than for westerners). Great staff, a special mention for a manager in the breakfast restaurant called Tom (believe his surname was Lau) - he was very helpful, and had great customer service (helped by his experience in the past of working on a cruise ship). The negative is the location. No taxis are readily available, and going out on foot requires you to face a walk up the long slope back to the hotel (not something you look forward to!. For those in the hotel in tourist groups (the vast majority) this is not so much of a problem, but it is for independent travelers.

Hi, This is YAN Z. from Shanghai. I tried several nights in Hilton when I'm travel in Sinkiang. The last night is your hotel, Mercure. The room is comfortable, the lobby is nice. But to be improved: 1. I made check in for all friends, but every emails guest name is Mr. Bonuo Z., he is my friends. So your front desk don't care too much for the name. It's really not professional in 5 star hotel. Hilton is much better than yours. 2. I highlight all 3 rooms record to my Acccorhotel member cards. I could collect 3 nights for myself. share with front desk my email address. ro… Your front desk said it was OK. No problem. but finally only one night for my account after I back to office. « Overall acceptable but fell short in a few areas »

Overall the standard was acceptable. Notable problems were 1) Level of english at the front desk was extremely low except during normal daylight hours. When I tried to check out at 6am the morning I left the two to staff at the front desk could barely speak any english at all. While I understand english is not the language of China, for an international hotel, I think it is fair to say that an English speaking staff should be working on the front desk at all times. The language problems caused further problems with the billing. 2) Air conditioning in the room was extremely weak. It was on, but when turned to the maximum fan and cooling, if could not cool the room down below about 24 or 25 degrees. 3) The room was generally clean and in good condition, but the following things were annoying a) No proper coffee machine, only nescafe powder coffee, and no milk or creamer provided. b) Bathtub very narrow so I could not stand properly. c) Extremely dim lighting in the sleeping area, and annoying and complicated lighting switches in general. d) Towels seemed to be covered in a kind of 'wax' so they did not dry your body very well and also did not dry when hung up. e) Signs of mold and water damage in the ceiling and walls of the bathroom. f) If you stopped using the internet for more than 5 minutes on your device you had to log in again with a username and password. Frustrating.

staff were friendly, fast check-in and check-out. Though there were no bellboys at the entrance and I had to ask for one at the reception to help out with the luggage. The fridge in the room was locked, so you were not allowed to cool your own drinks. Waiters were not attentive, one waiter didn't say a word to me when I spoke to her in Chines(I'm Chinese) but understood perfectly what I asked for. The breakfast buffet was just okay.

I was travelling with my wife for a vacation. My wife didn't want to stay at this hotel because she had a bad experience with this hotel not long time ago. As a Platinum m., she didn't get welcome amenities last time. She talked to the manger about this issue. The manager said she will fix it, but nothing happened until my wife left. This time, I want to give this hotel another try because I am also a platinum m. of Accor hotels and I want to stay in an Accor property. It turned out I am very disappointed and regretted not choosing Hilton vs Grand Mercure. We booked the room for two people, but the hotel only offered one free breakfast for us. The duty manager insisted this is the Accor hotels policy - only 1 breakfast for 1 room. We have been stayed in many Accor hotels in Asia including Sofitel Legend Hanoi, Sofitel -Beijing, Nanjing, Xi'an, Hangzhou, Ningbo, Grand Mercure Beijing, MGallery -Hanoi, Pullman Phuket , Noveltel - Beijing, Bali, Singapore, Mercure - Sapporo, Ibis - Singapore, Seoul, and etc. This is really the first time I was told the Accor policy that "only 1 breakfast for 1 room" even when you booked for 2 people. And I am even more surprised when I told the manager we are both Accor Platinum members. Guess what, I heard the most ridiculous answer from that manager, he suggested us to book two rooms to be benefit for two breakfast! In the end, we give up eating breakfast in this hotel.
