Easy check in, room nice enough and equipped with everything needed for a one night stay. Restaurant ok, although pizza rather stodgy. Only negative was the towels in bathroom - poor, thin quality, and small.

« Woken up in the night by aircon/heater unit »

I have stayed with IBIS a lot and am in constant battle with the aircon/heating unit. Eventually I downloaded the instructions from the web! Finally when I had turned it off it sprang back into life at 3am, waking me up with a loud burble. I spoke to the Reception staff and they said the aircon/heater runs a maintenance cycle in the night, even when switched off. Argh! So even with the heater switched off with a portable radiator provided by staff to keep me warm, I was woken up!

Lovely welcome, great staff. Happy to stay again. Just one thing, I specifically asked to have a room overlooking the station entrance, but I was not given this, a pity because when in Cambridge I stay at Ibis Cambridge Central. I was disappointed at this, otherwise I will continue to recommend Ibis, welcoming staff, great comfort and good breakfast.

My first time at an Ibis hotel and I wasn't disappointed. Loved the informal 'reception' approach - the 'meet & greet' team were excellent. Great location for the hotel - the rooms have been well thought through so everything you need for a short stay was included. Lunch in 'Chill' was good with healthy options and breakfast the next morning was of a good standard. Again the team in the breakfast area were attentive and friendly,

Excellent and very much enjoyed. Quick easy check in, clean, comfortable rooms, great breakfast, hassle free check out, staff very friendly and helpful. Great location next to the train station and the 15 -20 minute walk into the centre is an easy one, weather permitting! Would definitely recommend to others and we will be back.

Everything about the Hotel was excellent. The only problem we had was with our booking which had been changed from January to March due to unforeseen medical circumstances. Annoyingly the Manager who very kindly authorised the change did not make herself available to explain to us why we were expected to pay for breakfast when we had already paid. We paid the difference in price because it had obviously increased since our original booking in January but when I spoke to Caroline to change the date no mention was made about breakfast. Four members of the reception staff were attempting to sort it out & what appeared to be a Manager went to assist them but instead of coming to speak to us it was left to one of the receptionists to speak to us but no explanation was given. We were kept sitting in the reception area for 40 minutes whilst it was sorted. I found the whole experience extremely unprofessional, I asked if I could speak to Caroline but was told she would not be in until later in the week, obviously no-one bothered to tell her I needed to speak to her & we checked out without anyone bothering to explain the situation. I would have thought that a senior member of staff would have, through courtesy, spoken to us because I am at a loss to know why we were supposed to pay for something we had already paid for. Whilst we found the hotel & all it offers to be excellent I have to say the customer service was unacceptable in the way It was handled, or should I say not handled because I am no better off now than when I arrived. We felt very uncomfortable all the time we were there as we had been made to feel like we were in the wrong. I strongly object to a junior member of staff literally telling me off & acting like she was doing me a favour (obviously the senior staff member had told her what to say which was very unfair & cowardly, we did give her a hard time but apologised & said it was not her fault but she should not have been placed in the position of speaking to us. I would appreciate someone giving me an explanation & unfortunately I will not recommend the hotel to anyone due to the attitude of the management who clearly are not at all concerned about customer satisfaction. Someone should have gone out of their way to address the situation before we left.
