It went without a hitch; the overhead conditioner unit was not warming the room but after I said about it the staff gave me a heater to use. I do however wish that ibis would cater for vegans and I have sent an email about this to head office.

« Fits what a 3 star establishments should be offering »

Firstly, the room was immaculately clean, which is a good indication that, either housekeeping are very good or that few people had stayed in that room previously! The ensuite is a bit like a University accommodation 'pod', clearly made off site and placed into the room during construction. It was fine. The shower was advertised in the room as being powerful, however, it was not overly powerful. Complimentary soap in the room, attached to the wall, and toilet paper was of pleasant quality. The towels and bed linen are an off-white/cream due to them not using harsh cleaning chemicals to bleach them white. However, I prefer crisp white bed linen and towels. I haven't seen this being done elsewhere. They give you a mobile number to message if you need anything and, yes, they did complete my request in their advertised 15 minutes. Staff friendly upon check in but couldn't care when you left. They seemed too busy clearing away crockery from the lounge area than to accept by room key and thank me for staying at the hotel. Bed was comfy, but I had stayed in hotels which have more comfortable beds for a cheaper price. 99.00 is quite a lot for this room. No real problems, but it is clear as to why it is 3 stars.

We have stayed at the Camridge ibis a few times - but only really for the convenience of its location. The actual design of the room is very frustrating. Staying as a couple there is simply no room to move around the room. No space to put two small suitcases. And the bathroom is particularly poorly designed - rather like staying on a 1970s caravan. After four of five stays I think we've now had enough of squeezing into this ill conceived modular pod.

« Conveniently located hotel with friendly and helpful staff »

I chose this hotel as the location near the station was convenient for me. The room and bathroom were very clean. A member of staff kindly brought me up an oil heater when I was having problems adjusting the heating. The breakfast was delicious. Overall I was very happy with the hotel and would definitely stay here again if I were to re-visit Cambridge.

Better than expected - the new Cambridge Ibis has been intelligently designed to create a “café” ambiance on the ground level, and the absence of a traditional reception desk is more than compensated for by the warm welcome and efficient check in procedure using an iPhone and clever software. I had an enjoyable and comfortable stay at a very competitive price.
