The hotel is nice and clean. Complementary shuttles to the beach and the Dubai mall. Good breakfast. The only negative thing was that they didn't supply enough towels. We've been 2 adults and 1 child, every time they give us 2 big towels and 1 small, maybe we should use 1 towel for the face, hands and shower, it's not usual for a 4 starred hotel.

Very good value for money. Good location. The big differential is the staff, they are very efficient and really really kind. It was my birthday during my stay and when I arrived at my room at night, there was a delicious cake with a very nice Birthday Card. That made my day! Concierge, reception, restaurant and all other service very good and gently. I strongly recommend the hotel.

I stayed at Mercure Gold for one week and overall found it was an extremely nice hotel with a good layout. Going to Jumeirah beach was the only downside I could find as It was quite a distance however visiting Dubai Mall/Burj Al Arab was considerably closer. Everything was going great and My visit to Dubai was coming to end with no complications and on my second to last day it hit me. Myself and sister had been out all day and we come back to find a note saying we need to contact reception asap, we was extremely confused and could not think of a reason as to why this was so immediatley dialed reception from the telephone provided by the hotel, We were put on hold while the receptionist had consulted with the Duty Manager at the time to find out what had happened. After a few moments the duty manager had come back to us saying we damaged some linen and he would come up and show us what he meant as we was extremley oblivious. James came up and told myself to come out the room while he showed me what he had meant by damaged linen. He pulled out his phone with photographic evidence of “PERIOD BLOOD” on the bedsheets, my heart sank and I didnt know what to respond. Ive been to many hotels and apparently this to Mercure Gold was damage to linen, I was in complete disagreement with James and his only answer to me asking him why they didnt tell us that this would be classed as damage is how they would know that I would start my time of the month. After a calm 10 minutes of going back and forth he had told us it would cost 150 Dirhams, we then had no choice but to agree and ask for a discount which he said cannot be done until we had spoken to management the next morning. Following the next day we went down to reception and was greeted by Reena who was in charge. We were then told that this is hotel policy and she would offer a 50% discount. All in all she had quoted us a cost of 340 Dirhams which came to us as a shock as James quoted us 150 the night before. We then went into a disagreement and was told by Reena that he had already applied the 50% discount which made no sense at all as we didnt mention any discount before we got quoted 150 and also it was not even 50% as this would amount to 170. After a long conversation we then came to an agreement that 100 Dirhams would be paid and checked out the hotel. With this experience I would never reccomened anyone to use Mercure Hotel. I am actually ashamed that us women are looked down on this way as we was explained that this is extremely unhygenic and could not be washed. If Mercure Hotel made it extremely clear that this was the case when we checked in we would have taken extra precautions to prevent this from happening. In a day to day basis this could happen to any women and i think its extremely poor service. I just could not get my head around how they class this as damage to linen. All in all a poor experience and would pay extra to stay in a better hotel.

I travel very frequently for work and stay at Accor properties often. During the last one month, I stayed in 4 Accor properties in 3 different countries and countless more in 3 continents during the past decade. I never had such a bad experience in any hotels I stayed including other branded or unbranded hotels. I visited the Mercure restaurant for breakfast and requested for a fried egg, instead of following a queue system the restaurant decided to serve customers as they please. Serving customers who came later while neglecting my repeated requests. Other restaurant staff also took a similar approach towards my request for coffee (the coffee machine is not automated, as a result, require assistance from the restaurant staff). The restaurant staff decided to serve customers who looked European or Arabian first instead of following a first come first served basis. The head Chef apologised and accepted the mistake when I complained, and I appreciate that. However, the floor manager showed absolutely no interest and chose to walk away even when he saw a customer complaining about the service. It is utterly ridiculous that a hotel chain such as Accor condones such behaviour from its staff. I also had an experience of a stolen/returned wallet/money when I visited one of the lounges, but I have not considered that in the rating provided.

I came on desk checking and only available room which i paid 500dhs for stay was a handicap-room with special needs ( double room) , Toilets sink was leaking , checked in at 11pm and checkout next day . Stayed in room 125. After a long flight, the last thing we needed or wanted was a live band playing in a nightclub until 2.30am directly beneath our room.. Receptionist at check thought the person who called on the phone half way through checking us out was more important than completing our check out. Lastly, for a non-smoking room it smelled very strong of stale cigarettes when we arrived. I highly doubt we will be back.

« there were a number of things wrong with our stay at your property. »

the hotel was clean and the staff was friendly. However, the noise from the club was constant and did not allow for peaceful sleep. The cleaning staff was not consistent in their cleaning... there were 2 of us staying in the same room, on the first day we were left 2 towels of each size...we stayed at the hotel for 6 nights and each day we had less towels, but the last day we were left 2 bath towels and only 1 face towel and 1 hand towel. Some days they would collect all of the dirty towels and other days we would find a dirty towel hanging from the back of the door. When we requested the towels instead of bringing us a full set (1 of each of the 3 sizes) we were only brought 2 bath towels. I had also asked for additional toiletries products (I specified what i wanted - 2 shampoo, conditioner and bodywash) we were only brought the shampoo and conditioner. These little details are important and especially when your house cleaning staff is in the rooms, they should leave the same number of towels each day and if they see extra they should leave extra towels. it's the little details that make all the difference in a hotel. Another thing you should be aware of if the fact that one of your elevators in not level with the floor.. so when the door opens it is not completely even with the floor, so there is a slight step up which you don't notice... if you are not careful you will fall, like my mother did on our last day as we were on our way down to check out. She is older and injured her leg and knee because of the fall and required assistance for our trip home.

Pleasant, supportive staff. Decent fit and finish. A very noisy hotel however, due to its location next to a main road and the fact that the hotel is structured around a central nightclub, which booms music into most rooms until 3am. Food was OK but not great.
