Second time staying with IBIS and not dissapointed, room was spotless and exactly as needed, reception staff welcoming and helpful (as a lone female traveller I like that they took notice when I left and returned and checked if I needed anything) slight downside was at the bar when I ordered one of the cocktail specials and the barman didnt know how to mix it - I ended up with something completely different but this is a minor issue. Breakfust was plentyful with lots of choice.

Great room, excellent relationship quality-price. Amazingly kind and helpful staff, always there to give you a hand, and solving problems in a few minutes. Excellent breakfast. Excellent location. We stayed here a couple of years ago and came back. Will come back again if we go to Edinburgh. Highly recommendable. If rooms had a minibar, it would be Heaven.

Our room was clean and modern. The staff were friendly and helpful. We stayed over the weekend and there was some loud music from the bar next door but nothing that kept us awake.

A Slice of Reality in a Magical Place

My mother and I spent 2.5 weeks in Scotland and Ireland. After coming back from a 5 day tour leaving and arriving in Edinburgh, we were exhausted. After walking about 20 minutes from the bus station, we were excited to get off our feet and get to the hotel as quickly as possible. Following Google maps brought us down a steep alley-way to an old entrance that was never updated. After trekking back up the steep hill we were finally able to find the hotel which seemed to not have a proper reception desk but rather a chaotic mess of people crowding around two people with red t-shirts. I guess we're in the right place. I will say check in was fast and pleasant with no problems and the receptionist was kind. We took the elevator the first time with our luggage only to find it close and not open again even when we tries to use our keycard as noted. Thankfully the elevator opened a few moments later as we started to think this would be our room for the night. Upon entering the room, it was clean at first site, small, but clean until my mother took a shower that night and wiped off the mirror to find the towel covered in brown residue. The room was equipt with tea and a kettle as well as a functioning TV so we laid in what my mother called our "Chiclet" beds because they were so tiny and so thin that when we pulled the covers from underneath it took the whole mattress with it. Overall, its not a bad place to stay and not in a bad location but certainly can do with a more genuine and thorough experience.

I apologies if your way to our hotel was a bit complicated, indeed due to our main entrance located on a bridge, it might be confusing on google map. With the upcoming summer, the city is getting busier and our lobby might be crowded at time. I am sorry that it was annoying for you, we are trying to find solutions to resolve this and avoid this kind of situation for your future stays with us. I am also sorry for the dirty towel, I've reported it to our housekeeper manager but please inform us when it happens and we would give fresh one to you. The room was extremely small. The bathroom was tiny. By tiny I mean there wasn’t much room for much. Not sure if there is a club down stairs, but there was a loud music at 2 am.

Room was clean and well fitted (all the essentials). Included breakfast was fantastic. General decor and interior was nice. Checkin and checkout was seamless and staff were helpful (lack of an actual front desk was odd at first).

Room too small with only 1 plug socket in room. The solution given by staff was a cube adapter. In order to use kettle we had to put it on floor which is a massive health and safety risk. Bathroom was tiny. The whole room was inadequate for 2 single people and overpriced for the standard

1. Check in was convoluted. Lobby lay-out is poor, does not favor good flow. 2. Room was quiet with good light. In-room entertainment was good. 3. Staff very friendly; probably because they are young and foreign, not so knowledgeable about the city, but always very eager to help. great team. 4. Breakfast is terrific. I want the recipe for the whole wheat bread!! I miss it!! 5. I did notice lack of attention to details at times: we received a bath towel that was old and frayed. 6. Our reservation process was ...interrupted. I thought we had booked the room. The night before I checked, and could not find the reservation. So I made a new reservation-- but I am assuming because of the 24 hour advance notice, the price increased by BP150!! I was quite upset. It had been several years since I stayed at a IBIS property. I was surprised to see that it has become so self-service oriente. Much appreciated printing of boarding passes, shoe shine, weight scale, cookies and candy...central ironing space... But check-in needs improvement.
