Check in was good, very efficient, friendly and a pleasant experience. Room (201) was clean, the decor, especially in the bathroom was very dated. The bed was lovely, clean, fresh linen and very comfortable. We were unable to turn the radiator up to warm the room so my husband asked for a radiator key to bleed it, staff were unable to locate one so his brother (who we were meeting up with) brought one from home, problem sorted!! However the towel rail in the bathroom never worked! I did not sleep very well because of a noise, a bit like a fan running all night, which disturbed and annoyed me. Breakfast the next morning was a different story however. We both had a full English breakfast, it was brought out quite quickly, it was a FULL English ( including black pudding) and was very warm. Lovely!!

We received a very warm welcome from Danielle on Reception, who was very helpful. The lounge and Reception Area of the hotel looked lovely and was beautifully decorated for New Years Eve. We had bar food and drinks both of which were delicious. Our rooms were clean and extremely comfortable. We had a splendid evening receiving even more superb service from Paul the on duty manager and a lovely cheerful lady called Laura and a truly superb bar man called Jordan. All of these people ensured we had everything we needed and were enjoying ourselves throughout the evening. Can't wait to return. Will recommend to all our family and friends. A massive THANKS to everyone.

We upgraded the. Room when we booked and we were so pleased. The room was huge and had a lovely view of the gardens. The staff on arrival were welcoming and helpful. We loved the breakfasts.. Great choice.. Freshly cooked.

I was given room 106, supposedly a double room. First impression was on the carpet where someone had dropped or put the hot iron on the carpet leaving a perfect inprint. Hmm. The room has a half oval table with a large chair stuffed into the corner making it almost impossible to sit at and awkward to negotiate around to get to the window and my side of the bed. I noticed a large crack in the hand basin which went completely through the basin and probably leaked water. Keep the water level to a minimum I thought. Only had decaff coffee so I went to reception to ask for some normal coffee. I give the young guy full marks for his effort in finding me the last 4 sachets of normal coffee in the hotel, after searching through the reception, the bar and the “special” room upstairs. He also got my admiration on his gallant effort behind the bar later on when he had to uncork a bottle of wine. No corkscrew. So the guest went up to her room to fetch one. It was obvious that the bar man had not been given any instructions on how to open a bottle wine, as he ripped the cork on the first bottle and the guest taking the second bottle to open herself, Again 10 out of 10 to this chap but come on MANAGMENT what about a bit of training for the poor guy. The prices are high for such a place The food was mediocre, breakfast served in a dark room by cheerless staff. Overall not a four star but resembles a 1950’s B&B for truck drivers.

It was okay but 2nd night I queried the service charge on dinner bill with Susan. I tried to explain that previous night it had not been charged. Susan said it was automatic charge but I said that cant be right as it wasn't added on night before. She walked away from me while I was still explaining and left me to pay the bill at the bar. I paid it. The issue isn't the money, its the way she dismissed me. As I walked up the stairs back to my room no106, I heard Susan discussing me with the front reception staff. I was utterly embarrassed and dismayed. She dismissed me firstly then continued to back chat me, unbeknown to her that my room was just at the top of the stairs. Purely because she did this, I took the receipt from previous night down to her and showed her. I said I did not appreciate her dismissing me whilst I was talking to her and I am dismayed she back chatted me when went up the stairs after the conversation with her. She was very defensive so I left to go to my room with the intention of making a formal complaint. She later called my room to say she would be refunding the charge and I reminded her that it was not about the money. I was shocked that she had such bad customer service. She apologised for how I 'perceived' her behaviour. Because of her disgusting behaviour, I will not be staying at this hotel again and will also tell my colleagues to avoid it too.

Hotel fine, very oldie worldie. Had my booking changed 24hrs. before arrival from half board to B & B due to over booking. Very disappointing. So had to walk into the village for food. In doing so fell in a pothole on the hotel car park/ drive in the dark and sprained my ankle. Breakfast good with plenty of variety. Grounds very nice.

We were very pleased with the room allocated to us. Not so great was the fact that we couldn't choose what time we wanted to eat, and when we did eat, the experience was a complete shambles. No garlic in the garlic sauce, no goats cheese in the goats cheese tartlet (which looked more like a pasty), and, until we asked, no vegetables with the meal. Even when they did arrive, no sign of any potato - which all of the other diners in the coach party got automatically. The restaurant manager did deal with our complaints quite well, agreeing to give us the bottle of wine we ordered (had to ask for the wine list though) for free. Breakfast was good. Such a shame that the main dining experience was spoilt

We stayed for 2 nights. It is in a nice location with beautiful surroundings. Room was clean and had everything we needed. Staff were very helpful. No problems with noise etc.
