« Meals really are an issue »

In general the room and hotel were good however. On the first night I wanted to sit in the restaurant but it was closed. I have a bad back and could not sit in the bar especially to eat, there was also no free tables. I ordered room service from bar menu and wasn’t told there was a fee. The second night I was told I would have to wait s considerable time in restaurant ac there was only one chief. ASI has so much work to do I went for room service again. Basically you offer very poor restaurant seating and management and then charge for room service. I questioned it at checkout and just got an argument

There were a few issues that need to be addressed: Reception staff should be more helpful due to fact there is not lift. There are no bedside plugs, an extension lead took nearly an hour to arrive. The bathroom fan is super loud and you can’t turn it off independently from light. Ideally it should have a delay so if you go for a quick pee it doesn’t start, but anything longer then it kicks in. Instead it starts almost straight away and keeps going for ages. All floorboards creek. I get that it is an old building, but when you can hear every move of every guest it is not good. Please screw them down.

« Was expecting a 4 star hotel and was rather dissapointed »

The restaurant was great and food very nice but the bedroom was not good. It was tiny, the furniture in the bedroom was tatty and very old fashioned, the shower was poor and the bath was slippery - there was a notice to say a non=slip bathmat was available but I could not see it in the bathroom

« Okay but needs a clean up »

Hotel seemed a bit old and bedraggled. Was only there for about 12 hours but room was shabby and the whole place looked like it needs an overhaul. Very poor car park full of potholes and badly lit.

Beautiful building with old grandma ‘s shocking carpet . Great checking and breakfast service , but clean lady comes to knock our door at 8:45am can’t wait to get us out ( It’s not their fault , it’s no sign to tell them still have guests in the room resting .) Shocking more it’s strange phone calls from middle east man was keep calling to our room . What a beautiful building and great staffs are working there , but expensive room price charged it’s not mach the quality . We won’t stay here again .

Enjoyed the stay, little disorganised at breakfast and the gadsby evening meal was good, but after the meal, out party moved to the bar area for the rest of the evening and we didn`t stay in the function room.

The overall stay was fine with good interface with staff and a very enjoyable New Years party was had, but the one thing that let it down is your extortionate bar prices e.g. 3 glasses of wine and a pint of Guinness £28.20 really!!! Needless to say that was the only round bought all evening other than one glass of lemonade at £2.60 I could have bought 19 bottles of my usual lemonade.Please take a good look at this situation as you will find even less people will be there in 2018.

£23 for a £7bottle of wine and a glass of soda water? Room was good but bathroom is not safe enough for aged or in firm needs more hand grips for shower and getting in the bath.

« Beautiful hotel but needs doing up »

Excellent staff lovely stay and welcome. Know the hotel well as used to use it over 30 yrs ago but sadly it needs some tlc now the gorgeous ceiling in the dinning room needs some urgent repairs and painting such a shame to see such a gorgeous room going to ruin especially in such a superb italinate building.

Very friendly staff and lovely hotel. The only let down for us was the hotness of our bedroom - it was overwhelming. Great breakfast and staff were wonderful.
