I stayed in the bridal suite, which although had lots of rooms would say there were just a few things missing. A bath for example rather than a shower, making the bridal pamper experience better. Staff couldn’t do enough to assist they were so helpful. Bar prices very expensive.

I found the staff, hotel, room, and breakfast all very good standard and value for money, much more than I expected. Everything I needed was there, including free wifi, tea and coffee, large flat screen TV, and exceptionally comfortable beds - the very large double for me and the large single for my son.

« Drab, shabby and mice infested. »

Ladybird infestation in bedroom. Plastic jam container at breakfast had been eaten by a mouse. No one seemed too bothered. One breakfast manageress was unfriendly and argued against our family of 5 sitting together.

Room 101 spacious and clean only problem was step into bedroom was not highlited enough should have been on the door not in an unlit hallway where pensioners without glasses would not see it that is why I tripped and almost fell which I did mention to lady in reception.

Reception was friendly and efficient. The room was a good size and clean. The bathroom was small and the bath had a shower curtain. We prefer a dedicated shower with a glass screen. We took a light evening meal in the bar but did not take breakfast. We would use the hotel again, if in the area.

« All the gear, no idea. »

Looks lovely, nice hotel and room. However, service in the restaurant was poor. Inaccurate descriptions on meals and careless service. This left us feeling very disappointed and unsatisfied with the hotel.

On arrival we changed rooms as the rooms offered were very small and slightly claustrophobic. As the hotel was very quiet was disappointed at the additional charge for each room as the original price was expensive for the room offered. Staff generally very helpful although room service was very slow.

« Just what we needed »

I stayed here with a friend for one night as we were spending the afternoon at a local spa. The room we stayed in suites us perfectly, it’s was a double room but the bed was much bigger than a double. The staff were lovely and polite. We didn’t really require anything apart from somewhere to sleep for the evening so for that purpose we would definitely stay here again.

Overall it was ok. I don't like being charged a service charge on my meal. I am paying for the food not the service, without customers you wouldn't have a service so we shouldn't have to pay for it. I think it is out of order and cheek to ask customers to pay on top of already overly charged food and drink

Everything good at the hotel. Only minor issues are (a) the only published phone number to communicate our arrival time was an 0844 which would be expensive to call from either mobile or landline; there appeared to be an email but the auto-reply made it appear that would be ignored for the whole Eaaster weekend. So there was no way to talk to the hotel without paying 084 rates: that's poor. (b) The issue with wifi (no place to type this in later on) is that it was unsecured, this means that all traffic is vulnerable to hacking. Hotel wifi should have a password.

Front of House could be more friendly and welcoming, food was very good. Real shame such a beautiful old building looks so shabby dining room looks dull and some accent lighting would improve the ambience. This could be a beautiful Boutique hotel. Everybody smokes right outside the front door so a smoking shelter would be good.

Business stay two days. Comment first morning art 08.30 the hot breakfast was cleared off nd we had to ask for bacon. Hot breakfast in my opinion was poor.
