The location of this hotel could not be better! The room met our needs. The bathroom had some flaws (the shower was difficult to operate, no handrails), but overall, it was a good experience.

Mediocre stay in a basic room. Entrance from car park was disgusting littered with hot chips strewn around with debris and teenagers sitting outside with their bicycles. Carpet was appalling with stains everywhere. The smell of the reception was musty. Receptionist was friendly. The bar staff were friendly. Food was mediocre. The bathroom lacked the basic amenities. Only one towel for two guests. I found the other towel in the wardrobe. Pretty mediocre all round and wouldn't book in a mecure again. This was overpriced for a basic experience. I have stayed in a few le accor Novotel hotels and adiago aparthotels which were far superior to mecure inverness.

In the main our experience was satisfactory until we get to the main reason to stay in a hotel which is a good nights sleep in the location of our choice. We accept that city centre hotels present city centre problems but had we known we were going to have a street side room that had no controllable air conditioning (Room 306) we would have not stayed with you. The only way to get fresh air into the room at night was to have the window open. My wife cannot sleep in an over stuffy airless room. Having the window open prevented both of us not being able to sleep until 4am when the local night spot right outside our room closed up. From 9pm until 4am we were forced to listen to foul language rant, argument, song that Inverness's finest drunks could deliver. Only the friendliness and helpfulness of your staff, the cleanliness, and the very easy parking moved you from a very unhappy score to one trying to find the plusses rather than dwelling on the negatives. Next time perhaps an out of town hotel would be more suitable.

Our room itself was adequate - it was positioned on the 5th floor, at the town side of the hotel. Unfortunately the sound insulation was very much inadequate and we were aware (until approximately 4.00am) of the loud shouting and swearing of drunken yobs as they vacated nearby pubs. Thereafter the sound of the seagulls, whilst not abusive, was still very loud and prevented us from achieving further sleep.

Disabled room and fire alarms

Hotel was clean and staff were pleasant. On arrival at my room I realised I was in a disabled room which in itself was okay, but the bathroom wasn’t great. The shower was missing a button and so was difficult to turn on fully, as there is no shower tray the floor becomes very wet. Dinner in the hotel was nice although i was disappointed to see the squid starter had been removed from the menu since my last stay (appreciate menus change so this isn’t an issue) also service was slow towards the end of my meal when w coach party came to the bar - more waiting staff would have been helpful. A fire alarm at 6am is the main reason for my low score followed by a second fire alarm just before 8am whilst I was just starting my breakfast. Both times we were outside for a while although especially for the second alarm it was a known to be a false alarm. I left the hotel to go to my meeting, however, was blocked in the car park by the coach so had a 10 minute wait for all coach party guests to get their luggage and themselves onto the bus before it moved and I could get out of the car park. My second nights stay was more enjoyable with just the disabled bathroom issues mentioned before

Expensive, no car parking spaces, fire alarms and a poor breakfast.

Faculty had no internet in room and bar felt like a Howard Johnson’s in Kansas.

I could not get internet in room and therefore could not get work done late at night when I needed to work because of time difference with US. Bar was not comfortable. It looked at the water over a dirty parking lot.

Check in on arrival was fine. I got to my room and there was a lot of noise from the street. This is nobody’s fault. I asked at reception if it was an option to be moved to a quieter room. Was told yes but would cost £35. I agreed to this. The process of getting another room took around 40 minutes because the staff didn’t seem to know how to arrange this. I asked for an ironing board and was told one would be brought up. Ironing board hadn’t arrived half an hour later so I called reception. Was told one would be brought up. I was needing to iron clothes to go out so the delay wasn’t ideal. It was an hour before I got one. The new room was far noisier than the first one. It was right next to the lift. I got no sleep because of a noise that sounded like some kind of generator. Constant noise and banging from the lift throughout the night. The room was so cold I had to sleep with a sweater on. One of the lamps - the main uplighter one - didn’t work so the room was dark. The staff were friendly but the overall experience was very poor.

The room we were in was too hot and the thermostat didn't work. I rang the front desk and they sent a fan up to the room, which helped a little. The small room we were in did not have adequate ventilation or temperate controls. The wifi was not stable enough to use at all. Also, the rooms facing the streets are not well insulated and you can hear almost everything from the street.
