Not as nice as other Mercure hotels I have stayed in. Bedroom and Bathroom fine. Windows everywhere dirty. Breakfast does not include a good choice of fruit and other heathy options very limited. Bread choice poor , coffee awful especially from the machine. I found the fresh coffee pot but that wasn't much better. Cooked food okay only a fried egg option. You need to put on your website. That there is a car park entrance which can be used as a drop off . Church street entrance rather dangerous.

Very nice room - beautiful view of River Ness. The bathroom lights were tricky to figure out (quite dim), but it provided an almost spa-like experience. I finally did sort out the mirror light over sink. Staff were quite friendly. We had a bit of a mix-up over breakfast (went on Orkney tour from Inverness-with very early departure) and I thought continental would be brought to room, but we managed to make it to dining room to eat.

« Unusable Internet and tiny, poorly designed rooms. »

Was staying there for business, yet the rooms had very poor internet coverage. My computer showed full connection, but no webpages would load. If I exited my room and sat near the elevator or down in the lobby the internet worked fine. I was unable to get any work done in my room for the 10 days I stayed at the hotel. My colleagues were spread across different floors and had the same issue. My room was tiny, there was not even enough room to stretch on the floor at night. Room 207 was particularly small. The shower did not have any shelves to place soap or shampoo. I have a bad back and it was difficult to bend over and grab the items off the floor of the slippery shower. The hole for the desk lamp to fit into, places the lamp directly in front of the TV, and more specifically right in front of where the sensor is for the remote. Poorly place, and have to lay down the lamp everytime you want to watch TV.

« Great service and nice hotel just needs a few tweeks »

The room was nice and the bathroom has obviously been recently updated. The mirror in the bedroom was placed in a very strange place on the wall so that you can't really stand in front of it unless you a about a foot from the wall. There is loads of room on the wall next to it. The pillows are also very uncomfortable.

« Facilities great but not happy being woken up by cleaning stuff at 8:30 »

I have always stayed here and really like the hotel and stuff members are really nice . But my last stay was pure HELL. After a long day until the morning work and drinks I came back to my room to have a very much needed sleep . To my disappointment I was awaken by CLEANING STUFF AT 8:30am . My sleep was disturbed I could not go back to sleep. I was so enraged wen the cleaner came back again at 9:30am this time I yelled at her and complained that the check out was 12noon therefore I wasn’t happy about this . Again she left I went back to sleep think great I will nap for a couple hours to my shock another knock this time it was from the manageress basically denying this could be possible as cleaners don’t come until 9 . But this is the SECOND TIME ITS HAPPENED AT THIS SAME HOTEL AND SAME TIME BY CLEANERS. either the Manageress is being lied to or she knows it’s the truth. I was so SLEEP DEPRIVED I Cancelled my next day stay and went to THE GLEN MHOR INSTEAD and am happy I had the best sleep there . The stuff should be made aware that NOT EVERYONE GOES TO SLEEP EARLY SOME PEOPLE WORK AWKWARD HOURS AND NEED A GOOD SLEEP IN THE MORNING. Other than this the hotel is fabulous.

« Tired, run down, extremely bad value for money »

Overall impression is of shabbiness - the room was tired & scruffy - the sink plug jammed on my first night & nothing was done despite repeated requests until late the following afternoon. Breakfast is a disgrace - staff attitude appalling take it or leave it - much better in Premier inn! certainly not a good reflection of Scotland. To cap it all I return to a fine from the car parking people despite being resident & confirming with reception it would all be charged to my room account

« Most Noisy Room Ever. »

Extremely disappointed with my stay. I was staying in a street facing room on the 4th floor and the street noise was well beyond what could be considered as an acceptable level. Even with the windows and curtains shut, you can clearly hear people's conversations in the street. I've stayed in hotels in busy cities all over the world, including London, Boston, Shenzhen, Shanghai, Hong Kong... and have never experienced a street noise problem like the mercure in Inverness. The experience was made even worse by the staffs sarcastic and down right cheeky approach to my complaint. Their only solution was that I wear ear plugs, which is absolutely disgraceful in this day and age. This should never be considered an acceptable practice by any hotel, as ear plugs can cause damage or infection the ears if worn for prolonged periods, and are also a choke hazard for infants and young children. My experience with the mercure in Inverness ruined the whole weekend for me and my girlfriend, who were on a last minute break after a hectic week. I will certainly not be booking this hotel again, nor recommending it to anyone. It has ruined Mercure's image for me, as I previously considered the hotel chain to be reasonably good. However I will steer clear in future as the standards and practices considered acceptable by mercure fall far short of my expectations.

« Not the worst but not the best »

Nowhere to put anything. Not even an available shelf/drawer. Just coat hanger cove. To shave using the magnified mirror area the customer needs to be a contortionist. Let down over an arranged wake up call to catch a 7am train. Door key failed each day so it meant going to room finding failure and then back again downstairs to reception. The big plus point was location. Town centre and right near station.

« Overpriced at 211 GBP per night. Booking system unclear. »

Not worth the price, which didn't even include breakfast. Very noisy at night from drunken brawling in street. Shower rooms very chi-chi, but wash basins too small and shallow and taps difficult to figure out. No shower cap, lotion or disposable slippers provided, which one would have expected at that price. No biscuit or confectionery provided with tea and coffees. No water provided. Couldn't fill kettle at tap because wash basin too small. At breakfast: no waiter service for tea and coffee so guests had to make their own at a dispensing machine at the other end of the dining room.

On the whole we had a good experience I have only one complaint in our room there was no storage a wardrobe but no drawers which I found bizarre we had to live out of the suitcase

« the hotel staff made this a magical visit »

the staff at all levels were superb. Reception was quick, polite and knowledgeable about local attractions, Dining room and bar staff were very helpful explaining best but offers but best of all provided me with a totally surprising birthday cake on my birthday .Very special .House staff were efficient and special behind the scenes .Please give them all an up to date Mercure hotel to work in.
