We were very happy with the experience we had, staff were very friendly, very nice clean room the only downside was we ordered breakfast to our room and had to call down to remind room service as they’d lost our order.

« Mixed. »

The room was good, breakfast was satisifactory and the gym facilities were great. I stayed for 3 nights and continously had to go down to reception to get them to fix my door key card. I did not keep it anywhere near my mobile or anything else for that matter but without fail every 12 hours or so it had to be reset. This was very frustrating especially given that the reception area is very slow operating. The training room downstairs which we used for our course, was dark without a large number of lights out and cold.

Friendly and helpful staff. Nice clean hotel and room. Bathroom was big as was the bed. Tea and coffee in the room. It's situated in the middle of the old town. Good choices at breakfast. Would definately stay again. What's not to like.

« Very disappointed with room allocation. Especially the adapted room booked for my parents. »

I booked the hotel weeks ago and asked specifically for an adapted room for my parents and asked that there was a walk in shower. The room my parents were given was dull dingy and quite frankly unsuitable for someone with a disability! There was a bath which my mum could not get into and no walk in shower as requested. When we asked to have a room with a walk in shower we were told there were no more adapted rooms available. This was my parents only holiday this year and had been looking forward to it but to be expected to stay in this room was diabolical considering we paid full price. My sister kindly swapped rooms with my parents but the shower, although walk in, did not have any grab rails so was unsafe for my mother to have a shower in. We were given 50percent off our evening meal as some sort of compensation but I would strongly urge the Mercure Hotel to spend some much needed money on renovating their adapted rooms and perhaps put grab rails in their other showers too. After all people with disabilities deserve the comforts of those who do not have a disability.

It was good the only issue I had was the state of the wall tiles in the vents toilet next to the bar. They are ready to fall off very soon and I advised one of the staff so hopefully something will be done before someone gets injured.

« Disappointed with everything except the food. »

Check in was a shambles and took far too long. First impression upon entering the hotel was of a tired establishment needing overall decoration. Room was noisy due to some sort of plant room above it - hot water pumps (?) making a continual whining noise. Bathroom had not been correctly set up for two people. Due to out of date guest information having an out of use phone number (2424), along with the same reception staff not processing messages left with them, meant that attempts to get additional towels were fruitless until I left a message via social media. A visit by Jordan at about 7 pm then started to get things looking a bit better. His attempts to resolve the noisy room failed due to the hotel being full, but he tried his very best, and continued to to work for our satisfaction later in the Bistro. He had a superb assistant in this task, Jason, who equally worked well to improve our satisfaction level. Without the efforts of these two guys, we would have been even more unhappy! Over night noise from outside which was really quite awful along with early morning refuse collections meant that we had anything but a relaxed night. Why on earth are these rooms not at least double glazed? Bistro food in the evening was truly excellent as was breakfast the following morning. Check out was not without it's difficulties - we were assured that a goodwill discount offered by Jordan had been applied, but when I questioned the total bill, the receptionist then decided that the discount had not in fact been applied.

« Run down noisy hotel »

I booked a priveledge room (517). The room was run down furniture was damage and in poor condition. The lighting was poor and dim. The hotel appears very tired and rundown throughout with chipped paint on all of the woodwork. The noise in our room from the street outside was absolutely atrocious. I didn’t sleep at all for the noise and the bed was very hard and far too firm. I was very disappointed with our room. I will not be returning to the hotel.

Except for the fact that my room faced a street that was frequented by very loud partiers, I found no fault with my stay. The room, though small, was clean and the bath was impressive. I will know next time to request a room that does not face that street
