Friendly staff greeted us on arrival, we had a Classic room which was spacious and clean including the bathroom. A filling cooked breakfast to start the day with plenty of options. Very quiet surrounding.

First night a disaster. Room 7 no working shower and a 90 minute wait to get TV remote. After change of room our stay was as expected and as previously. Staff all very attentive and friendly.

Very poor customer service on arrival by reception manager and given brief information . Breakfast sttaff very friendly and welcoming. Bar staff in evening need to update customer service regularly had to ask for cutlery etc

Apart from the comments above we feel that there was a need for the rooms to have air conditioning. The changing rooms for the gym and swimming pool were too small. The service for the resteraunt was sparse.

Very good, room 43 has shared balcony with 42 which was good for me. Staff were friendly and competent. Restaurant dinner pesentation and quality also very good. Breakfast menu good but could do with adding hash browns ! Oh and tv programmes/freeview etc, could do with an update/re tune although this was not an issue for me. Location is quiet with no constant main road noise.

Excellent rooms and facilities access to spa was easy. Breakfast was lovely. Staff very friendly but my room was hot due to the weather we're experiencing asked for a fan for the room but none available so I had to buy my own. All I can say is buy more fans for the rooms. Other than that I would definitely stay again

We would never stay at a Mercure hotel again. We stay in many hotels during the year and considering this is suppose to be a 4* hotel were extreamly disappointed. The room was in desperate need of updating. The sheets on my sons put up bed were not even clean. The springs on my sons put up bed were so bad he fell through. We had to take the mattress off and he slept on the floor. Considering we paid £180.00 for the room this was disgraceful. I didn't even want to look behind the taps on the bath the filth that was there made me feel sick. When I mentioned about the bed on leaving the hotel the receptionist said "oh dear we shall look at it" The staff were all very young, they were nice girls but clearly lacking experience. As for the breakfast, well all I can say is a complete fail. Keeping fried eggs, sausages, bacon and beans warm in luke warm water bath is pretty disgusting. The fruit selection was embarrassing. It was a hot week end and the fan in our room was very small and so dirty and clogged up it hardly worked. I asked at the reception for another fan. The receptionist was abrupt and told me lots of people were hot and the last fan had gone. She then told me that once the sun had gone down it would be cooler. I can honestly say I have never stayed in such an awful 4* hotel in this country.

We had to lose all our money because you were inflexible about a change of dates because of my disabled husband's hospital visit. We gave plenty of notice. We will never use Mercure again as your 'personal service' is untrue I thought I was in touch with the hotel itself but it was just a central booking computer

I booked a relaxing nights stay as a gift for my husband on 30th june for £181. We got to hotel and checked in, nobody at this point made us aware there was a wedding party going on till early hours. We were given room 4 and thought nothing of it until we got back at 10pm to our room to discover we were booked directly above the wedding hall. Loud banging music until 1am and constant sound of the toilet door beneath us creaking and hand dryer every time someone from the wedding party went to toilet which u can imagine was alot. We went down at 11.30 to be told we could be moved, we decided to stay due to inconvenience of moving as long as they turned music down slightly which the receptionist agreed too as music even he said was far too loud. At 12.30 we came down again as the noise was getting worse to be told we cant move. We fell asleep at 2.30ish as we could still hear everything that happened after the wedding finished (packing away etc.) TO PUT US ABOVE THE WEDDING HALL AFTER PAYING £181 KNOWING LOUD MUSIC WOULD BE GOING ON UNTIL EARLY HOURS IS BEYONG DISGUSTING. TO NOT TELL US NOR DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT MAKES IT EVEN WORSE. It was the worse hotel and night stay I have ever been too and will not visit again. A relaxing night stay turned into a complete stress and inconvenience. The hotel offered a £50 discount but to be honest this is not good enough as I had to still pay £131 for a terrible experience. I wouldnt have even taken this room for free if it was going. I am not a normal complainer and I am generally easily pleased but this experience has really put me off mecure hotels which we do stay at alot. We understand weddings will happen and they will be loud, but you should have the courtesy to tell your guests and give them a choice as if we knew this, we would have never booked on this date. To then put us directly above the wedding hall is beyond belief. What hotel would do this to their guests???

Whilst the staff are very helpful and polite, that's about as good as this hotel gets. Advertised as a 4 star hotel, it's certainly not. Dated, dusty and in great need of modernisation.

the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, I slept well which is always a good thing but the bathroom was so in need of maintenance, shower curtain barely hanging on, grouting in dire need of attention. doors were very old looking

« Entirely dissatisfied with a dilapidated hotel charging premium rates »

Not a complete list, but here are a few highlights (i) checked in and put into rooms at the far end of the corridor. Someone already checked into one of the rooms! (ii) Called reception from room - repeatedly - no answer (iii) Returned to reception - moved room (iv) tried to call reception to book time for dinner - phone doesn't work (v) another long walk to reception to book meal (vi) after meal, my partner returned to room for shower - unable to turn on taps for shower (vii) I made another long journey to room and back to help (viii) Trying to sleep - constant drip from tap... couldn't call reception (phone not working) - had to improvise (ix) Emailed hotel manager (Mr Hanna) - no response …. and many more problems Not to mention wallpaper peeling off walls Entirely dissatisfied. « A welcome break. »

This was our third visit and as before we were warmly welcomed. Our rooms were comfortable though the tea/coffee station was rather sparse. Our dinner in the restaurant was delicious and a more than adequate breakfast to send us on our way to the NEC.

A short one night stay for business, but was very enjoyable. Lovely grounds and a buildings. The only real negative was the quantity of food received. Quality over Quantity is fine but this was a bit extreme for the prices paid. Yet, on the whole I will be back. I did plan on coming back sooner but the prices for the 12th of June rocketed so I stay somewhere else. As someone who is a member of several hotel chains I am used to price hikes regarding availability but this was almost a 50% increase for the night I was looking for to the previous night!
