We had previously stayed at the Edinburgh Park Novotel which was fantastic in all areas, and we were expecting the same level of service and customer satisfaction with this hotel, but sadly it was not great and we would definitely not stay here again, the room was fine, but it was the hotel service that let it down, firstly when we arrived we asked if we could have a lunch menu, we were told that the chefs were busy upstairs and we could not have any food for another couple of hours, so we went across the road with the kids in the snow and ate in a restaurant, then when we got back over the front door of the hotel was locked and we had to wait for someone to open this, seemed strange to be locked in the afternoon, we were told that the kids had to be out of the pool by 6pm and the Jacuzzi would be switched off at 5pm, towels you had to use your own room towels and then order new ones for the room, to be honest it did not make us feel as if we would ever want to go back here, maybe we were spoiled at the Edinburgh Park because as an Accor Hotel this is night and day to this Accor Hotel, but I will most definitely use Accor Hotels in the Future, just not the Mercure in Ayr, sorry.

« disappointed with cleanliness and comfort of room »

The toilets located next to restaurant were not clean. there was 2 cubicles in he gents that were frankly very dirty. My wife said the ladies was also requiring cleaning. there was no heating in our room at any time and the temperature was very cold on Sunday 11th feb. This is not what I have been used to in my many previous stays at this hotel

« Had a great stay »

Received an overnight stay as a gift and had a great time. Staff are all very friendly and helpful. Nothing is too much bother. The room was comfortable and clean. We had breakfast with our stay which was delicious. We used the spa facilities which were good. Not a huge pool but more that adequate. Also, with the hotel situated where it is, it's ideal for taking a walk around the town or to the beach. All in all, we had a really nice time and will certainly be back.

« Better than previous stay. »

Nice staff. Room was nice however let down by bathroom looking tired with signs of mould and cracked facial. Toileteries didn't include shower gel and I had to fix the toilet as the toilet was running constantly with no flush. No milk in room.

The hotel it's self was nice and the staff were friendly. Food was decent. The only gripe I have is that the worktop and surrounding of the toilet were all warped and the wood was all showing. It made the toilet look very grubby.

« Old facilities and dirty. »

Facilities are quite old-fashioned and not well maintened, room excessive small. I found my carpet floor dirty all around. However, staff personnel was kind to me all the times.

« Disappointed. »

I have stayed at many Mecure hotels around Europe and this one was the most cramped and shabby room I have ever stayed in. Carpet was thread bare, no back on the wardrobe, entrance door was hanging off, shower rail is rusty, stains and marks around the floor in the bathroom, pedal on pedal bin hanging off, water stains around bathroom mirror and the safe didn't work. It's set up as a double when its clearly only the size of a single. The reasons I didn't move hotels is the location was good, staff were lovely & breakfast was good, however I wouldn't stay there in the future while it's in the state that it is.

« Room and food »

Disabled Room was good but bathroom wasn't great the shower didn't drain awfully well and also we had to put a mat outside the bathroom to soak up the water going under the door. And quite a few things on the menu that they didn't have too. We loved the spa used the facility throughout our stay. The staff were very helpful too.

« An unorganised waste of money »

No parking on arrival, circled around for 15 minutes looking for a space, please check cameras. Took me 15 minutes to check in because the staff had me down to stay on Tuesday 6/2/18 instead of Saturday 3/2/18. By the time that took to sort and to get into my room I was already running late. I was with a Colleague who had a separate booking and separate room and we where asked 3 times of the booking was for us... The attention to detail and understanding was poor, my surname was asked 4/5 times. Furthermore I arrived in my room and on the table under the mirror on the right hand side there where two hankeys, scrunched into a ball and a bottle of Volvic half drunk and water drops on the table and a packet of crisps in the bin. For £70 the room was in a poor condition both clenliness and design wise, the pink/red carpet was worn and shabby looking and overall it just looked very dated. I work in Ayr and live in glasgow and this was the first time I have stayed down overnight for a works night out and I will never be again, I can book the Carlton hotel in Ayr or even a premier inn for £15 - £20 less and have a better experience and nicer stay. Ironically I have stayed in the mercure in glasgow and had a fine experience. I never reply to these surveys and have never made a complaint about anything online but Saturdays experience from driving in to going to sleep was terrible. I have already stressed to colleagues that it was a dreadful experience and not to book this hotel. I am in the business of customer service as I am a car salesman and I think that the attention to detail, understanding and organisation of the check on process was terrible.
