« Starting to look tired »

Overall the welcome and service was very good. The reception and bar areas look great, however the accommodation areas are starting to look tired. Doors with dents/scrapes/chunks missing. Doors that you have to manipulate the handles to get to shut when leaving the room. A minor overhaul is required, however I would probably say that for most of the mercure hotels I have stayed in this year,

One night bed and breakfast with dinner at Mercure Ayr Hotel was a birthday gift from our daughter. Dinner was delicious, bed was comfortable in a spacious room, buffet breakfast catered for health variety to full Scottish was great. The feel good health facilities was excellent, we utilised the gym, sauna, swimming pool and jacuzzi. The staff were helpful and friendly. The whole experience was excellent.

Our room smelled of smoke. We booked a xmas party night and specified that one of the party was gluten free. There was no specific menu for this lady and we had to speak to staff to request this as the young lad serving the table specified it was what was on the menu with no alternative. 01

« disappointing with bathroom facilities and dont know what benefits £25 upgrade provided. »

Staff were very friendly and patient, food was excellent, however bathroom facilities did not meet expectations. Shower with little power and a shower curtain in bath are not acceptable. Bath robes were very hard and one even had a form of beetle crawling on it.(My wife actually took a picture) Would have thought that more than 2 tea bags would have been provided and although I requested an additional supply at reception, these did not appear.

Booked room through Virgin experiences but upgraded to a better room on arrival at hotel. Room had a nice view and was clean but bathroom was a bit shabby. Service at reception was good and room service was prompt. Coffee machine did not work,was unable to open safe even after contacting reception and tea /coffee items were never topped up.Overall though did not spoil our stay at the hotel.
