« Pleasant and without any real fault »

Everything was great really. If anything the Wi-Fi continuously cutting out isn't great and the dripping tap in room 137 was a little annoying but that's just being trivial. Prices at the bar were a bit extortionate and sometimes the food, although delicious, did not fit the price e.g. 9 chunky chips with the fish and chips when paying £14 or £15. Like I say these are trivial things and mainly picking holes and it's hard to see any obvious issues.

Most members of staff were very nice, the rooms were dated but tidy, beds comfortable, good price per night and the family room availability - meets all needs. However - one member of staff, a lady at the reception with dark hair and glasses was not particularly pleasant, she was dismissive of questions asked, she spoke to me and my parents with a manner suggestive of disinterest in customer and almost with some form of prejudice in tone, however we heard her being very nice to other customers, which makes us all think she treated customers unequally for whatever reasons. Finally, my Father who is disabled, has most probably left a pair of trousers in the room we stayed in for five nights last week and unfortunately they returned with mum to stay for another night (last Wed-Thu). He approached the same individual at the reception (mentioned above) and tried (with his quite poor English) to ask if the trousers were found the week before. The receptionist told him “I don’t know” and ignored him further completely, didn’t attempt to communicate or even try to check whether trousers have been found, and immediately started to talk to another customer. I must admit we are planning to stay in your hotel again, mainly because it is convenient for the medical appointments of my disabled father, however we are absolutely dreading meeting the individual mentioned above again, as this kind of behaviour makes the stay unpleasant and after all, the only strongest memory we have of your hotel is being frowned upon, dismissed and being treated like worse customers. We are all hospital doctors, we work with people daily and maintain highest standards, and our judgement is that this person has not behaved appropriately towards us, and we can imagine that other customers may receive similar treatment. We think that simply making her aware of the way we feel may make her realise that she needs to reflect on the way she handles customer relations. Besides, I called last night about trousers left over last week in room 121 and a nice lady at reception had taken the message and told me the day staff would call me back today, however, to the best of my knowledge, no one tried to call me back today. We would be grateful if our comments would be taken into account. Greetings Dr P. C.

« Great staff in a decrepit premises »

Very friendly efficient staff but the hotel is in poor repair. A Very comfortable clean room but old fashioned. Breakfast spoiled by predictable overwhelming of self service by tour group. Some food items ran out. Excellent to be warned by staff and appreciated but disappointing that item availability was not monitored.

I've already written an email (dated 3rd April 2018) of complaint, and you haven't acknowledged it, nor replied. Here is what it said: We booked a room for 3 adults and one child (our eldest daughter is 14 but was classed as an adult) online. I am a registered member of Accor Hotels loyalty scheme. Initially we found everything to be fine, arriving to a warm clean room, on a cold Sunday afternoon after a long drive. That evening, we used the Pool area - where we found the Steam Room was lukewarm, and the pool water looked dirty. A foreign man sat at a table outside the sauna 'vaping'. We returned to our rooms and when using the shower, the tap valve didn't work properly for all 4 of our family, meaning the water flow to the shower head was considerably reduced, and you were standing in ankle-deep water coming from the tap itself. I'd booked, and paid upfront, for 2 nights. We decided at 4pm on the second day to relocate to an Urban Village Hotel in Edinburgh - for a better pool, a better health spa experience and better facilities for roughly the same money, and so I went to the reception area to discuss if we might be able to get any portion of our money back, accepting fully that it was now 4pm in the afternoon and check-out time was 4 hours earlier. The conversations I had with the front desk staff and the manager seemed to go something like this: •'Why are you bringing up these faults now Mr B.? Shouldn't you have told us of your complaints regarding the pool and shower etc earlier? Are you only complaining now because you want some kind of refund?' The answer to that is/was 'Well, yes, I do want some kind of refund'. We have found aspects of the hotel to be sub-standard, and we are going to leave and with only a couple of days available for our family to have this road trip, we'd have liked to have had as nice an experience as possible'. •The Hotel Manager at first refused to even refund the cost of our breakfast for the second day, which we wouldn't even be having. I knew that I had been under no obligation to pay up front for anything, so I viewed this as an attempt to hang on to my money, with little justification. I believe it would've been a different story had I arrived at the front desk having paid nothing up to that point. •I then left the front desk after a heated exchange where the Manager appeared to treat me as though I was 'at it' (to coin a phrase). She came across as someone who thought I was obviously finding fault deliberately to justify some kind of refund. But I hadn't asked for a full refund. I'd gone to speak to the front desk to explain that we weren't happy with several things, and we were of the mind to look for another hotel. I'd just asked the question, that given the circumstances, would the Hotel consider a partial refund? That was just a family decision based on the fact that we only had until Wednesday to have a cobbled-together family break, and we all wanted things to be as good as they could be. a) In the corridors of this Hotel, cleaning staff have a curious habit of leaving used glasses, and plates outside the room doors for hours at a time. You'll pass them in the evenings, and in the afternoons. We thought it odd, and we also viewed it as a safety issue, as children often run along the long corridors, including our own. b) At breakfast, we ate at a table, while 3 waitresses stood just feet away at the side watching us eat - very odd. c) The Hotel appeared to run out of sausages and butter (not margarine) - there was none of either when we had a cooked breakfast. Not what you expect at £11 a breakfast. I eventually left after a second conversation with the manager, with what felt like a grudged refund of the costs of our breakfasts (the ones we wouldn't be there to eat). It was uncomfortable and awkward, and I felt the Hotel could've done more. I reminded the manager as I left, that we were just ordinary working folk having an Easter Road trip around the central belt of Scotland (we are from Northern Scotland), and not to treat us like 'chancers'. A little retail therapy overnight stay .the staff were excellent very helpful.hotel a wee bit dated but spotlessly clean. No prices on menus fir food or drink.food good.only the wine was a little expensive.£6.50 for medium glass . You expect to pay that in major towns.but overall would stay again.

Pleasant stay , but room for improvement!!!.. Room was clean and tidy but the creaking floorboards were very annoying, luckily only on short . Breakfast although acceptable and varied was not well presented, and the hot food was mildly cold.. This could have been when we choose time for breakfast!!
