« Was ok for an overnight but wouldnt go back to the Livingston hotel. »

Only 1 of the reception ladies were nice n welcoming. Others were not very friendly. Bar staff were not happy looking at all. No service with a smile. The pool wasnt big. Food was ok.

« It was just ok, nothing to write home about and the meal which had a £22 allowance was not worth it. »

The Mercure room at Livingston had a musty smell as if there was dampness. WE were glad the meal was only for one night as the tomato and herb soup was tasteless and I think had been made with tinned tomatoes, then we had a steak and ale pie made with thick shortcrust pastry (not like a steak pie at all), followed by Apple and pear crumble (the fruit was floating in a brown liquid and the crumble was just sitting loosely on top and was hard) - not like a crumble at all - not worth £22 allowance. THe breakfast was alright. This is the first time I have been at this hotel so I am unable to answer your next question.

« Fantastic value for money hotel with very Friendly and welcoming staff. »

Hi I enjoyed my stay with you however there where a couple of things I Would like to comment on first one is I feel your hotel would benefit with is a lift in the hotel, also whilst I was there within 5 mins of arriving I was greeted by the Fire Alarm when walking to my room was hit by the closure of the fire doors also when evacuating the building I had to wait at the back of the car park and under the trees as I started to rain so got wet as not much shelter would be helpful to have some sort of shelter area, think I would return back but I would not be in a hurry to do so.

Some staff not very friendly. Bar staff was non existent after 10.pm and it was in darkness giving people the impression it was closed. When you went to reception to get someone the majority of the time there was no one there. And when you asked for a certain drinks they didn't have it and they had no access to the back room to get the drinks. Staff were setting up tables in bar area for breakfasts so there were no tables to sit at for guests that were wanting a drink which made you feel very unwelcome. I appreciate hotel is full of guests, but surely the breakfast tables can be set out in night shift once bar area is clear of guests.

« Convenient location, good facilities and comfortable beds. »

Friendly staff at reception. Good facilities in room although the shower still left the bath tap running which wasn't very safe. Restaurant was busy and we weren't shown all the menu options; we had to ask. Breakfast was a little disappointing.

Hotel a little tired and not overly inviting. Reception staff very good but restaurant staff seemed less than attentive and a little slubbonly

« Friendly efficient staff, comfy bed, food not so good and pricey »

Helpful reception staff. Nice rooms, but decor in Mercure seems a bit dated. Comfy bed. Central. Convenient. Food not that good - and a tad expensive (service in Bar Restaurant good though).

« Average Stay »

Hotel was nice, great location for shopping centre. Room was basic but clean, a little dated perhaps. Used the swimming pool which whilst small, was adequate for needs. The cleanliness however put me off completely. The changing rooms were very smelly (dirty bins or nappies). The shower was disgusting - the drain was clogged with hair. I refused to use the shower. This was really disappointing and put me off using the facilities again. Breakfast was okay. Felt the food and bar prices were quite over priced. Nice ambience in bar area.

Lovely peaceful overnight stay. Facilities were great just what was needed after shopping all day. I would say though the room is dated could do with an upgrade. Staff were amazing

« rude, unpleasant staff »

food in the restaurant was amazing. it’s a great shame that the staff were very very rude. especially manager ‘Barry’. arguing with guested, when a comment was made about one of my fellow travellers about poor service he blatantly ignored her and just puffed and tutted at her and walked away. anything even the smallest task seemed like a huge ask to the restaurant and bar staff. attitude to us as customers was appalling, never saw one of the staff member throughout the entire hotel smile even once. overall staff were rude, ignorant, condescending, troubled and unhappy. the second night of my stay, after our meal in the restaurant was finished, we then returned to our rooms, the same as we had the night before without any problems. However the second night 40 minutes after returning to my room when i was in bed and settling down for the night (9.30pm at this time) i received a phone call from the bar asking me to go to the bar and sign and receipt?? this was new to me and because i was comfy and settled in bed i ask if it would be okay if i signed it in the morning when i would be going for breakfast and explained i was settled in bed the response i got was ‘no you need to come now’ so i had to get out of bed, get dressed again and go to the bar and it was literally to just do a signature. absolutely disgraceful. why couldn’t i have done that in the morning or why couldn’t one of the bar staff come to my room so i could quickly sign it. appalling. The hotel decoration is quite dated with quite a general old/musky smell, however the beds are very comfy and i was impressed with that. me and my fellow travellers will certainly not be returning and my company will be moving their future business to elsewhere.

« Not at all happy »

Was initially given a room with furniture that was a disgrace. The material on the easy chair was all torn across the front and the padding underneath looked like a dog had chewed it. Surely this should have been reported by housekeeping and changed before allocating the room. However we were changed to an upgraded room. Breakfast was a complete nightmare. Three tour buses and a company meeting were also staying. 7.30 am arrived for breakfast to find a queue of around forty waiting to get in. When we were allocated a table we immediately ordered poached eggs. Left twenty minutes later still waiting. Not the staff's fault. Not enough on to keep re-stocking a hot buffet table which emptied every few minutes by bus loads wishing breakfast before their bus left. One self service toaster, the type that takes all day and only heats the bread first time around. Queue's of up to six people at a time waiting to use it. If you are going to take so many bus tours who all wish breakfast together you need more facilities and staff. As a business user I stay in hotels each week and I am happy to put up with delays. However this was just beyond a joke. Business users aren't on holiday they do not have all day. Had the staff warned us that 7.30am would be busy we would have come earlier. By the way the price of your alcohol is ludicrous; £3.80 for a 25ml Smirnoff vodka - £114 a bottle. Not a bad mark up! £3.00 for a small bottle of tonic costing wholesale around 25p or less. 1100% mark up. You then add 10% service charge as it was served with a meal. (this 10% was deducted at checkout when I expressed my astonishment at the prices) Your having a laugh and ripping people off. I do not mind paying London prices when in London but I do object when I am in Livingston. Had a similar experience last week in Newcastle with Le Club Accor. Think I will bin my membership card.
