The rooms are nice, but, the way the standards dropped throughout the stay was disappointing. Food unavailable on the menu. Repetitive items in the lunch, unresponsive staff when asked for changes. It felt like we were under appreciated as customers, due to being BT/Corporate employees.

« A comfortable stay. »

As on previous stays, staff were courteous, helpful and pleasant to deal with. Our room was spacious and well equipped but just a little dusty in places and rather well worn eg chips out of bathroom door. Some of the towels were a bit thin. We took advantage of the leisure centre and while it was great to have a warm pool, the temperature in the gym was rather too high! The drinking water provided was also very warm. Not sure if the cooling systems just weren't working.

It was over priced and the quality of the hotel was well below par. The reception was stinking of cook being cooked in the kitchen. You could smell damp in some part of the hotel.

From the outside the hotel looks a little dated and the rooms reflect that a little too. Don’t get me wrong, they were clean and had everything you needed, just a little updating. The lounge, restaurant & bar area on the other hand are very well presented and modern. But the thing that always has me going back to somewhere is the service. And here it was friendly, professional and very helpful from EVERY member of staff. Really made me feel at home. The staff here are a credit!

We had to reserve 3 rooms at the last minute and were told by the central booking system that there were 3 family rooms available. When we arrived 20 minutes later, we were told that there weren't and that we had gone through a "third party." We used the online number from Mercure Hotel and didn't understand the explanation but nothing more was given. However, the concierge was able to get us the last 4 rooms and then changed the prices without explanation. He did tell us to contact the manager in the morning. While we understood that he did not have the authority to do anything in that moment, we did not appreciate being talked to rudely, especially considering the level of tiredness we so obviously were at (something even he acknowledged). Eventually, it was resolved in the morning and we are happy the manager was able to complete the booking the original pricing rather than the increased price. However, the manager was also rude to us when we tried to get their attention with haste by simply knocking on the reception desk. She reacted as if I had offended her by this action but all I was doing was trying to quickly get their attention (as we had a taxi outside waiting for us) to thank them for their help. It was quite a poor reaction. I do appreciate her deferring our cost to the original price but customer service could be better.
