well looked after with evening meal and the two male staff the were looking after myself and wife for breakfast were a credit to themselfs and the company.

Brought my daughter and grand children stayed on Sunday night great hotel great staff great food defiantly come again, the park and ride is a great asset leave your car for free 10min on the bus into York. set in lovely grounds, staff could not do enough for us,

Had to barter about the price as originally booked direct then found cheaper for same including breakfast. Room very outdated but clean. Noises in night from plumbing and outside, Reception and breakfast staff exceptionally kind and helpful

« Disappointing stay did not meet expectations »

The privilege room was okay, except for needing redecorations or at least remediation (peeling wallpaper, chipped furniture, broken tap in bathroom) so dread to think what a standard room would have been like. The service was poor with toiletries, towels and coffee being replaced erratically if at all and not being able to book a table in the restaurant for our preferred time. Only good things were the location (but as traffic was awful all around York, we spent a lot of time in the car anyway) and the free wifi which worked faultlessly.

The stay was wonderful - comfy and quiet and the opportunity of a late breakfast was welcome. Sadly, I e mailed prior to arrival to ask if there was a room we could get changed in as we were going to the races and therefore our room wouldn't be ready before we left but was told to have access to a room to get changed in would cost £20! This is a disappointment for such a wonderful hotel otherwise and as such we had to get changed in the toilets which wasn't the most dignified. For a room costing in excess of £1600 surely an available room for five minutes should/could be arranged.

« Reasonable experience but rooms in need of updating and dining expensive »

Good points - room big, bed linen clean and comfortable. Good quiet nights sleep. Restaurant staff v good polite and attentive. Room for improvement - room fittings old fashioned and looking a little tired/dated in the bathroom. Cleaning in room let down by cobwebs in corners of room on the ceiling. The stairway corridor to the rooms from ground floor also had a strong unpleasant smell. Probably just needed the windows opening on the landing to get some fresh air in. Food was nice but expensive for what it was (£15 for a burger and £14 for gammon steak). Would have expected £10-£12 tops. Desserts I think around £6.50. Again I'd expect to pay up to £5. Hence went elsewhere for dinner on our second nights stay. Check-in was a bit slow. Checking out was fine.

Ordered room service meal delivered was missing the vital ingredient - chicken!! Staff were very good and discounted meal. But should not have happened. Ordered meal at bar following day and meal not ordered arrived.

In our room there was a large stain on the cove in and the ceiling, it could have easily been cleaned/painted. No air con very hot and stuffy. We went to the bar waited over 20 minutes to be served - there were 2 people in front of us!! The barmen didn’t have the ingredients for my choice of drink from the menu. I then asked for Black Russian to be told I can’t have that as its not on till, I asked for vodka, tia Maria and coke and he went to ask if he could serve it!! A third barman came to make it with added espresso, I gave up at this point as i’d now been stood at the bar for over half an hour.
