A good experience but on arrival when we were exhausted it took a bit of time to find the nightorter and he was quite slow at checking us in when we were desperate to get to bed!Breakfast was food and efficient.the room was clean and comfortable.We request d an iron and ironing board which never appeared despite repeated requests.The bath plug did not work or fit

The room was ideal for my wife and myself. The staff we encountered at the hotel were very friendly and most welcoming. We ate in the restaurant for dinner and breakfast and found both to be of a high standard. The hotel was a short walk from the park and ride so the location was no issue. Overall we were very pleased with our stay to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary.

Very clean, seemingly well run hotel with a good buffet breakfast full of variety. Only negative was 30th birthday party hosted one night below our room with very loud music and party guests drunk at the entrance.

I booked through Secret Escapes, a 2 night dinner package. We arrived to find that the dates provided by Secret Escapes to the hotel did not match our booking confirmation. The room had been allocated three days earlier and we had been logged as a 'no show'. The receptionist was excellent and sorted out the matter promptly. Not sure what we would have done if there were no rooms available. the room was fine, as you would expect from a corporate hotel. The hotel was clean, comfortable and the staff were welcoming. The restaurant meal was fresh and was served quickly. The breakfast buffet gave plenty of choice. My only suggestion is that the younger staff are give some front of house training as their customer service skills were a bit lacking.

Lovely old style mansion house,with extended rooms. An absolutely fabulous room;especially,loved the BIG bed! Even though we arrived too late for the restaurant:it wasn’t a problem,as we had some delicious food in the bar! Many thanks,for a great experience;thoughly recommended.... Very modern hotel in very pleasant surrounings & really helpful staff! Not very French!!!

Staff very attentive. Room clean and tidy. Only spoiled by noise from a wedding reception on our second evening ( Wednesday) very loud music. A wedding guest was shouting and banging on our door at 12.15am !!!

We just had one of the worst guest experiences ever at the Fairfield Manor York. I booked a Privilege Room for one night 05.05.19 back in March but emailed the hotel early last week to ask if it was possible to add early check in on. I received a reply to say yes that has been added to the booking and £20 was payable on arrival. We arrived just before 10:00 am to check in – we were kept waiting a considerable amount of time by the member of staff on reception while he perused his computer screen and then told that we could not have an early check in. Naturally we were disappointed but then we were asked to wait while the assistant went in to the back office presumably to ask advice we were then told that a room was available. I paid the £20 and we were given card keys for room 314 which we then went to. We weren’t particularly pleased that it was 3 bedded but keen to unpack and go in to York. We were interrupted in this process by a member of housekeeping who just let himself in on a number of occasions bringing things in to the room. Coffee maker plus 4 pods (gee thanks!) luke warm bottles of water, robes etc – we left him to it and went out without properly inspecting the room which was a mistake. When we returned we saw just how shabby room 314 was, a broken drawer, dirty scuff marks on the walls, broken bath panel and a head board and light fitting suitable for a double bed when in fact the bed was a super king size. This actually created a dangerous scenario when sleeping on the right hand side as the light fitting was located directly above one of our heads and had to be dodged to prevent injury when getting in or out of bed. The shower head was also faulty, the TV had about 10 channels not even all the Free View ones were available – the central heating dial came away from the wall as demonstrated by the member of staff who we needed to summon to work out how to get any heating. It is my belief that this room was not in use for all the above reasons but given to us because we had the early check in and then the extra bits that should be in a Privilege Room were added in – whilst we were there and to our inconvenience. We should have been told this and given the choice to wait for a better room or not offered early check in – surely existing reservations for Saturday 4th May would have given an indication as to whether it could be accommodated when I emailed during the previous week. I believe that we are due a refund if not of the total £93.50 paid for this stay then at least the £20 charged for early check in. In addition we ate in the bar but could not have our first choices because we had chosen from the old menu which was on our table – apparently they keep ‘sneaking out’ in to the lounge area when the menu changed 2 weeks ago – 3 items were not available to us and we had to reconsider. There was a function going on and the noise of the music was very loud in the bar area, also children from the function were being allowed to run around the bar area climbing all over the furniture. Our meal was not a pleasant experience. We moved to a quieter area outside the restaurant and decided to have a last drink – I asked for a large Sauvignon Blanc but was told that I could only have a medium because of the function. I thought that meant that they had run out and asked for Pinot Grigio but what was actually meant was they had no large glasses !! I was speechless – to be fair Sara (only thing good about the place) did find one. Overheard conversations in the gents toilets suggest that they had run out of glasses in the function room too. Overall bad experience – not worth the money – would not recommend – will not return – staggered that this hotel has the Mecure branding. Looking for at leat some of my money back and very disappointed.

We have stayed here several times & always enjoyed it. Standards have not dropped, pubic areas are still kept clean & have a nice ambience, as are the bedrooms (which are a nice size). The staff were courteous & friendly. However I do feel there is a serious lack of staff on bar duties & housekeeping. The only niggle we had was that we only had one bath/hand towel in our bathroom between us, & was left insufficient complimentary drinks in our room, but reception staff gave us more when asked. Despite that we will return because we enjoy staying at the Fairfield Manor.
