The room was lovely, didn't use the restaurant or bar in the evening. We were disappointed with the breakfast, the food was being cleared away as we arrived and what was available wasn't fantastic

« Lovely Hotel in a Really Nice Location »

Beautiful looking hotel with Ample Car Parking set in lovely grounds. Perfectly positioned just outside the city but within easy reach via the Park & Ride or easy drive in. The staff are polite, friendly and very professional. The Privilege room was spacious and clean with all the facilities that you would expect. The hotel itself has a really nice bar area to relax in the evening which we found to be very quiet. In our experience it was a very quiet hotel. Breakfast was good, although the cooked breakfast is far better than the continental breakfast which I think needs a bit of thought. Good Coffee, plenty of juices and excellent staff. All in all a very nice hotel. The only thing that we found lacking was a fitness suite, but hey we done enough walking around the city anyway. Many Thanks for a really nice stay.

The hotel meets our needs, being in a convenient location and a nice hotel. I did not however, find it quite as personable and friendly this time as last time we stayed. The breakfast experience was not quite as good as the first time we stayed.

« Good anniversary lunch but poor staffing levels »

The lunch for a family wedding anniversary was very good and well organised but twice our room access card wouldn't work and had to be replaced; we had to wait for attention at the desk because it was not manned; there weren't enough staff in the dining room for breakfast so there were long waits at different times for orange juice, coffee, bread for toast, and most items on the breakfast buffet (the sausages when they came were undercooked).

« Convenient Location to nip into the City »

A Nice welcome and a smart first impression of the Hotel. Quiet hotel with lovely grounds. Plenty of free parking. We had a Privilege Room which was a good size and very spacious. Flat screen TV and tea/coffee making facilities. The bathroom could do with a little TLC but all in all a very nice room. The cooked breakfast is far superior to the Continental breakfast, but there is plenty of food so you won't starve. The staff are efficient and very courteous. The Bar is a little expensive but to be expected really. A really nice stay in a really nice hotel.Thank you Mercure.

we were unable to get booked anywhere, but arrived at the mecure hotel to fine the staff helpful and lovely. we were offered a choice of rooms and breakfast at a discounted price, so it made it easy, and after a long drive up from London was great.the room was clean and the hotel throughout, free parking is a bonus in York as well, a very comfortable stay.....would go again

Clean room, large bed and friendly reception staff. The only downside was our evening meal. Everything was played beautifully but unfortunately the pate on the starter was extremely cold and the duck with the main was overcooked!

Staff were very helpful and approachable. My husband and I were upgraded to a Superior room which was spacious with a beautiful four poster bed and two rooms with television in both! We were also given a bottle of Prosecco on arrival. Breakfast was lovely too.

« Not what was expected. »

We stayed for a friends wedding who was also getting married in the hotel. I rang a few days before asking if we could check in at 12 instead of 2pm as the wedding was at 2pm me and partner wanted to change in the room only to be told we would have to pay £20 extra they could of levied this with us been guests at the wedding plus staying in the hotel and money we would be spending but nope. I Was not happy to pay extra and we ended up travelling in our outfits. Upon check in there was 1 woman behind desk she checked us in but then disappeared for 10 mins then came back and said she was also having to check the rooms, must of been a lack of staff?!? Got to the room it was ok nowt fancy. We was on the ground floor, the window would not open can’t imagine what it would of been like in summer time. The bed was comfortable and big. 1 key card out of the 2 did not work it wouldn’t open the door. We also dined there as part of the wedding. When the meals were brought out my partner asked if he could have plain Gravy as it came with onions in he hates onions she the waitress brought him a dinner with no gravy I reminded her when she put it on the table he just wants a jug of plain gravy she said she was going to get it and low and behold she never came back so he had beef mash and cabbage DRY with no gravy didn’t have time to say owt food was late out everyone was mooching around and then speeches he didn’t want to make a fuss we just assumed she would come back once but didn’t. cost us £149 for one night and breakfast was NOT included in that which I thought was a rip off. Overall I have a mixed review of this hotel.

Stayed for two nights B&B, the staff were very friendly, breakfast was lovely, used the bar once and staff were friendly, helpful and chatty. Receptionist at check-in was lovely - young lady, possibly Caitlin? Overall thoroughly enjoyed our stay and wouldn't hesitate to recommend to others

Booking in, room all satisfactory. Nice environment. Unfortunately breakfast was really badly organised. There wasn’t enough food. It was coming out an item at a time so you could actually eat your breakfast in one go. Guests were becoming frustrated. Often no plates, bowls or juice. These are basics. There was plenty of staff but didn’t seem organised. To be honest this would put me off returning. For a similar price (Possibly cheaper) the premier in service is of a much higher standard. All staff were pleasant just need to be organised.
