No double bed, dogs barking in the early morning and a lawn mower as an alarm clock. Not what I would expect when paying nearly £300 for two nights.

We arrived early but the room was ready so we unpacked and enjoyed a snack at the bar which was excellent. We went shopping and sightseeing in York and returned to the hotel for dinner. The food was excellent and the staff very attentive and friendly. The room was excellent and clean and the breakfast was of a very high standard, thank you for our stay at this hotel again.

Our stay was brilliant, our twin room was lovely and clean plus it had everything in what we needed, we had evening meal and breakfast, the food was amazing and so much choice, we will definately be coming back very soon and will stay longer next time, all the staff were so friendly, helpful, pleasant and polite.

The service was really good and all the staff were pleasant. Sadly the stay was spoilt by the temperature in the room, which was only serviced by a small opening window and the beds were incredibly uncomfortable.

Staff lovely and very helpful , breakfasts great , room clean and pleasant . Only reason didn't score 10 was a few minor points . Towels changed every day , even though notice in room to leave in bath if wanted changed , but in fairness to you we have found this in every hotel we stay at . view from room of laundry bins Will use this hotel again if up that way and will also look at your other hotels as very impressed with your staff.

Impression that bus parties had precedence over other guests. Long wait for meals on two occasions - when food arrived it was wrong order. Asked to pay for breakfast when we were booked for dinner, bed and breakfast. We were not impressed with dining arrangements as could not get times for meals that we wanted because of bus parties. Could not hear yourself speak. Would suggest bus parties are catered for separately. Disappointing as we stayed in your hotel last year and it was fine.

We had an enjoyable stay. The food is good and the rooms are comfortable and clean. My only grumble was about our booking. We had booked the double adapted room specifically as my partner is in a wheelchair. When we arrived, we were told that we had been upgraded to a Privilege Room. The receptionist soon realised that this wouldn’t be possible as the rooms are on the 1st floor and the lift wasn’t working. I also presume that this room wouldn’t have had a suitable toilet for a disabled person. We were perplexed at who would change a booking for a double adapted room to a normal room without realising the implications. The receptionist could only give us the twin adapted room which wasn’t what we had booked.

Perfectly comfortable room but had booked for two people and only towels for one. Bathroom smelled slightly of drains. Bathroom a bit tired, e.g. sealant around bath. Why so ungenerous with tea, milk, shower gel etc.?

Room was in the old part of the hotel and a little noisy from the road, but quite nice. Breakfast choices were limited and at times the food items looked rather dried up. We normally come here every 6 - 8 months and it is noticeable how much the breakfast choices have reduced

We arrived at 2PM but checking was delayed due to rooms not yet "released". It would be about 20 minutes, now problem,but a coffee or similar being offered while we waited would have been a professional touch and cost very little. We got our room pass and on arrival opening the door the room was very hot, not surprising after the hottest day ever recorded! First impression room was a bit tired, new wall paper and a lick of paint, but I am being very picky. We soon settled in and from then on it was FAB! The staff, the food, the service we received was first rate.
