I had booked a family room, to ensure two separate beds. However, we were allocated a double room with one bed. On return to Reception, they found us an alternative room.

Our restaurant evening meal experience was not quite as good as the last time we stayed . Felt very uncomfortable eating my dessert .When you ask for 3 spoons of ice cream you do not expect it to come in an ice cream cornet !

« A most enjoyable stay »

Visually impressive on arrival. A warm welcome from reception. A large comfortable suite with every amenity. A short drive to city centre. A pleasant bar and lounge area. As we had a dog, we were accomodated in a sitting room for breakfast adjacent to the main restaurant. David was most helpful setting up our table. All the staff we had contact with were most pleasant, helpful and a credit to the hotel.

« Great stay . Really friendly. »

Stayed at the Fairfield Manor and booked through Secret Escapes. We were due a Privilege Room but we had a Supreme Double . Really comfy and definitely Supreme. We had the Buffet breakfast , not quite so good , but it is difficult to keep a buffet breakfast fresh. Hard bacon , hard eggs, dried up beans , Luke warm sausages. That was the only downfall. In the room , we had a comfy bed ,Flat screen to plus a separate room to lounge in with another to. The bath room was clean . Overall a great stay brilliant for visiting York and surrounding area.

« Comfy place to rest but needs some improvements »

Room was spacious and clean. Window opened but didn’t shut well / easily after opening and as a ground floor room this was concerning. A member of staff came to help and between us we shoved it back into place! The breakfast service needs some improvement - food ran out and we had to keep waiting for replacements. Bread wasn’t topped up and things just ran out and we had to ask. We weren’t seated and tables weren’t set up and people were told to sit wherever was free. We then overheard staff moaning to each other that couples had sat on tables for four - depsite is being told to sit wherever. We also said that the tables for two were not set up so we couldn’t sit there and the staff members sort of huffed at that. The food was nice once we could get it but surely as an established hotel should be able to know that food will run out and that staff should keep tabs on when things are running low etc.

« Excellent service and food at a reasonable price in a prime location. »

The room was spacious and the food excellent. The staff could not have been more helpful. In terms of easy reach to the city the hotel is wonderfully placed. Park and ride a stones throw away and close to all major roads. The deal we had was competitively priced and very good value.

We loved the way the building's history was kept, whilst still suiting modern life. The reception hall is beautiful. The room furniture matched the period too and the large bed was so comfortable, we slept well. The vintage taps and toilet handle reminded me of royal bathrooms I've seen. We were concerned, at first, that the creaky floor boards would disturb other guests, (or their creaky boards would disturb us!) but there was no problem at all. We only ate breakfast at the hotel and found the selection was very good.

We stayed for one night, the main reason being to hold a small trade exhibition the following day. The room was clean with all the facilities you would expect. The conference room we hired was very nice with natural daylight and very good service throughout the day.

Dreadful. We arrived on the Sunday 24/02/2019 after a 2 hour drive to find out the kitchens were not working. We had booked to celebrate my wife's 76th birthday and had not intended traveling any further. We had then to take a taxi into York and find a suitable place to eat. Pay for the Meal and a return taxi journey. The following morning I had microwaved scrambled eggs and cold fish!!!??!
