Decor in the room was dated and bathroom was not sufficiently cleaned. Extractor fan stayed on for several minutes & couldn't be turned off, so trips to the bathroom in the night would wake my partner. The doors on other rooms were extremely loud when closing and woke us on several occasions. Bed was very comfortable though and breakfast was pleasant.

2nd visit to Fairfield , had groupon offer bed , breakfast , evening meal , bottle of prosecco, afternoon tea everything just as good , spotlessly clean room , staff so friendly & helpful . Smooth check in . Had the bottle of prosecco with evening meal , a little left over & waitress gave us fresh glass to take to room with us . Breakfast good assortment . Went into york then came back mid afternoon to have the afternoon tea which was also lovely . Certainly will be visiting again . Nice when staff recognised us from our previous visit in April

Booking in at reception wasn’t a problem. Extremely quiet. Our room was nice, a bit dated. Our bed was comfortable. Sunday breakfast was terrible. We arrived at restaurant just after 9am. Cooked breakfast was so dry where it had been left. Redeemed Monday. Breakfast was delicious and even had a choice of eggs! Was this because new general manager was at hotel? May I suggest you Put in place a record of what room you provided an iron & ironing board too. We asked for one and reception couldn’t get one as didn’t know what rooms had them. We asked again following morning, luckily, we got one.

Everything was clean and comfortable, the only downside was as a couple both over 70 we found the stairs a bit of a test. You don’t realise how many times you need to pop back to your room during a stay.

Hotel is in a nice setting and there was plenty of car parking. No issues with the staff at all. Room was slightly disappointing. Room was tired and needed modernisation. Bathroom was also the same, tired looking and needed some TLC. Was also disappointed to see that the room was not air conditioned. The hotel was advertised as having air conditioning.

Unable to check in early. When we arrived back and got our room we were dis-appointed to realise our room was facing the main road and the passing traffic noise was very bad. The radiators were on full even though the outside temperature was 25C. We opened the windows to try and cool the room down but the road noise meant we were unable to sleep straightaway. I turned off all radiators and the room took approx 2 hrs to cool down to a comfortable level which allowed some sleep. This sleep was disturbed all night and early morning due to traffic noise. Breakfast was average and just ok.

A very pleasant few days at this mercue hotel, vkery helpful staff, nice large accessible room. My wife who is disabled found the shower facility very helpful. The meals were not the cheapest but we’re of a very high standard.

Visited York Uni so stayed overnight. Hotel is a lovely building with peaceful grounds. Park and ride -10 min walk away for an easy trip into the city. Room clean,quiet & beds comfy. Check in/out good

The stay was really pleasant, but was marred by the fact we had paid for an an early check in, but when we arrived at 1200 our room was not available. We specified this request because we wanted to freshen up before going to the Rose Theatre in York at 1430. Your receptionist was unable to give us a definite time when our room would be available as everyone was at a lunchbreak. She was calm but under pressure as a big queue had developed waiting to check in. I asked if the duty manager was aware of the situation and she replied that no manager was currently available. OK, these things sometimes happen, but this is not a small cheap hotel, but an establishment which is part of the massive Accor group. This situation should not have been allowed to happen and some sort of contingency plan should have been in place. In any event we had to leave our suitcases in the car are make our way into York. It was also noted you debited my account twice for £200 at a time to cover any expenses that may have occurred during our stay. At the time of writing, I am not aware of what charges you may have incurred and I also do not know whether I will receive a refund for the early check in costs. I use hotels on a regular basis for leisure and business purposes, and on this occasion I was really not impressed with the room reservation process, nor the long queues that were present for checking in. It was patently obvious one receptionist alone was not coping. In regard to the hotel room itself, it met our needs and was very quiet. The breakfast was of a good standard, and the staff worked hard to ensure our requirements were met,
