« Very pleasant stay »

Very large room, which was very comfortable and clean. Had breakfast delivered to my room which was very nice and eased a little stress. Just wish there had been more options than just a continental breakfast.

« Tired, lacking in true customer service. »

Having enjoyed a wonderful stay last November 2016, I was disappointed to find our 4th room Privilege room to be without air conditioning, poor, tired bathroom and windows that opened a few cms. Buffet breakfast was poor, no presentation, one toaster for everyone. One lift was out of order from the time we arrived on Thursday and still not working when we left Sunday morning.

« Pandemonium »

The hotel occupies a lovely central site on Princes Street: access to the first floor Reception would have been easier had one of the lifts not been broken, or if there hadn't been a large tour party checking in. The problem was, of course, not the party, it was the way it was allowed to block completely the lobby/reception/lift area as the poor receptionist tried to find the reservation. It would have been easier to move the 40-odd guests into the bar area, and allow other guests to check in. The Accor Priority check-in area was in general use. A hotel of 7 floors really needs its lifts: although the out-of-order sign implied a recent lift failure, my local friends suspect it is of quite long duration. Breakfast was again chaotic, with staff too busy to check guests in and find them tables. Those who queued patiently were swept aside by those arriving and walking past the queue to find a table. On the plus side, the staff were pleasant enough and helpful, and I liked the bar area which had lots of space. The Superior room was adequate: quite small for "Superior" but a lovely stylish bathroom, and views out onto Princes Street. The balconies could probably do with anti-seagull fences [speak to Ramones and Paterson about balcony spikes].

« Challenging »

The challenges of staying in a hotel with a partner who needs accessible services was really put to the test here. An inaccessible lift meant that extra time had to be factored in to every move of the day, from getting to breakfast to returning to the hotel when other guests would not be lining up to use it. As we were unaware of the closure of Princes Street to vehicular traffic, unloadding and arriving at the hotel took one hour, it was quite a distance from the car park to the hotel and therefore quite a distance back.

« Pleasant hotel in a central location. »

This was a short sightseeing stay. Hotel was extremely conveniently located for this purpose, and adequately fulfilled our needs.

« Friendly and Efficient »

We are a family of 7 people that booked 4 rooms at the Mercure Princes Street. We were all very pleased with our rooms on the 6th floor. The Reception Desk staff were so pleasant and helpful during the check-in process. Our rooms were very clean and the beds were super comfortable. All workers at this hotel are very friendly and always greeted us whenever they passed us in the hallway. Our stay in Edinburgh was memorable and the hotel had a great deal to do with making the vacation our best one yet.

« Comfortable hotel in a convenient location »

Check-in was swift and our room was ready before official check-in time. Room was a bit tired looking but clean and tidy. Dinner was tasty and the view from the restaurant was fantastic. Breakfast was also tasty. The restaurant is very spacious which is a rarity these days - I enjoyed being able to eat without the people in the neighbouring tables being right on top of me.

All staff were very friendly helpful & professional. Nothing was to much trouble and during our dining experience they were very good at explaining the options & information about their product was high.

« disappointing for the money paid »

Hotel is not accessible to wheelchair users. I had phoned ahead to check this, and was not told about the step to the front door or the 4 steps to the lift area. I was offered the use of 2 ramps but both were far too steep to be used safely.

« Well situated but needing clearly refreshing of carpets , curtains and bathrooms... all looking and smelling old... notably bar and dining area. »

Great situation.. but needs updating. Bar and dining area is old and carpets, upholstery need updating... small sold.. also rooms... carpets, upholstery and curtains need changing as does the bathroom updating.

« Very nice but tired and a bit shabby. »

Staff friendly and efficient, good food and service in restaurant. Good view from our room and very convenient for city. Room was clean but really needed a return. Furniture was shabby, no air-con, bathroom bit mouldy, extractor not working. We enjoyed our stay but for price room was a bit basic and tired looking.

It was a pleasant experience and an enjoyable stay. The staff are prompt and very Intentive to your needs. The room was extremely well presented and provided with great facilities making the stay feel very relaxing. The hotel restaurant for either breakfast or evening dining was a great experience too with staff again attending and overseeing all was perfect. The menu is also highly recommended with beautiful foods and drink too choose from. Overall a brilliant stay and made for an excellent trip. Highly recommended

The stay was very good we thought it was a little bit expensive for one or two things (like evening meals ) but the room was very nice and the view from the room was extremely good. For me and my wife that are pensioners it was nice to be pampered
