« Unexpectedly disappointing compared to stays at this hotel in previous years »

Upon arrival at the room, a painting had fallen off the wall and was lying on the floor including the sheet of glass that covered it with half the frame still on the wall. A large stain was on the carpet by the bed which had obviously been there for some considerable time. The sink in the bathroom had no effective plug since the internal mechanism to contain the water had obviously been broken for some time.

The room was pretty cramped but that is probably reflective of the price. I had a caesar salad in the bar which was pretty bad and very overpriced for what it was - some lettuce with overcooked tough chicken and what appeared to be pre grated packet parmesan for £15. Closely located to the venue for my meeting so was convenient

The staff at the hotel were very accommodating and pleasant however the room (105) was dirty and in need of repair. There was hair on the pillows and bed sheets and the bathroom was dirty and the unit around the sink was broken. The shower needed a good clean also. I know that I got a deal through wowcher and for what I paid I wasn't expecting a grand room however I expected the room to be clean.

I wouldn't come back, the room was exceptionally small and the bathroom was disgusting. Haven't even bothered to clean the mould off the grout around the tiles. The dust in the corners, skirting boards not totally attached to the wall. Looks like they were measured for a different room. The loo roll holder nearly coming out of the wall. Really really disappointed by your hotel. When I booked it stated the hotel was 4* obviously a star has been removed but think another should be.

The friendly and helpful staff were the most positive aspect of the stay. The room design did not leave much space to move around especially for two people. There was limited wardrobe space and only one small drawer. The secondary double glazing did not keep out the noise from a nearby venue. Though not an issue in winter, the lack of air con could be a problem in summer. The worst aspect was that the room was badly in need of redecoration. Walls were grubby and wallpaper had been poorly patched and painted in several places. This was by far tge shabbiest Mercure I have stayed in.

« Great deal for convenient city centre hotel »

Staff are so friendly and food and service were great. Standard room a bit cramped (against eg Premier Inn) and internal soundproofing could be better (first night we were kept awake by enthusiastic conversation from an adjoining room til 3am) but, hey, we had a great deal. The hotel is minutes walk from city centre shopping and entertainment. I think hotel staff should be briefed re directions to the car park, which is next to Virginia Place, behind the hotel, but the route to the car park entrance is via Glassford Street, Wilson Street and Virginia Street.

reception and staff were good but room was very disappointing, walls were a mess, carpets were old, radiator needed bled from staff as there was no heat, windows were wet with condensation, overall very old looking room and in bad need of a refurbishment.

« great customer service and food, rooms badly need updated »

top marks for customer service, female on reception very friendly and member of staff at breakfast also lovely and helpful even any maids we came across said hello which is nice. breakfast was also lovely plenty of choice and a relaxed enjoyable experience. unfortunately we wouldn't stay again because of the standard of the room. all bedsheets and towels clean and fresh but the room was in bad need of repair and beyond a bit tired looking. some examples include, bath panel missing and curtain at window black with mould and around the window disgusting with mould. I dont think it could be cleaned it probably needs renewed. bed was very hard to sleep on and pillows not very good. I didn't sleep well and I don't normally have a problem in other hotels ( I'm in my 30s so I'm not hard to please no back problems etc), carpet quite stained and old. we would be happy to pay a little more money if the rooms were renewed . it's in a fantastic location so you could demand a high cost. this is the mercure on Ingram st Glasgow. room 414. such a shame the room let it down everything else was great.

Overall reasonable value hotel. The staff were friendly and polite etc, and the location is excellent.The hotel is now needing money spent on it as getting rather tired in the rooms and in the reception area where some of the seating is sagging and tired. The rooms also need some money spent on them too as getting tired. Oh and for the ACCOR hotels to have shower curtains and not proper glass door just typifies lack of investment. Overall not bad and been in worse and slightly expensive for what is . Other hotel groups offer better facilities for the price

« Not the best hotel experience »

The decor is looking tired and slightly grubby round the edges. The bed was too big for the room so that you have sidle along the end of the bed to pass the table and chair. There was hardly any room to pull the stool out from under the table. What is the point? Breakfast on the first day was mostly tepid rather than hot. Slightly better the second day. No choice of eggs though only fried. No boiled, poached, scrambled or omelette. I do expect better. The basin in the bathroom had a major crack in it and the extractor fan did not work

Faulty television which I complained about and was fixed but faulty again the next night, neeeds a new aerial cable The next day was given a filth towel which I did not complain about but was changed as I hung up for cleaner to see Breakfast good selection but hot ingredients such as bacon and eggs always over cooked. Not allowed to toast pancakes was also a pain Staff very polite and welcoming Overall the rooms were on the small side but not a major issue, however rooms are needing done up and the sofas in the bar area are rather grubby which is the first thing you see. Great location but you need to spend some cash doing it up
