The staff were great, but this hotel is desperately in need of a facelift. A bit scuffy abd tired in the rooms and corridors in particular.

« Lovely hotel but staff need customer service training. »

Hotel was lovely. However staff were not very attentive and looked unhappy and were not very welcoming. Felt like they had to be prompted by guests to do basic duties. When we came down to breakfast we were just told 'help yourself". We have stayed at the Edinburgh Mercure and were shown to our seats and everything was explained to us. Staff were very friendly at Edinburgh. We didn't receive our newspaper either day. Also I am not convinced we were given a privilige room that we had paid for. When we queried this we were told 'we can give you a smaller room'. Breakfast was rather poor. Everything was empty and we were there before 9. Several guests came down afterwards and were all wondering about with empty plates. My partner had to ask if there was more orange juice even though a member of staff was standing directly behind all the juices - which were all empty. There was only one cup on most tables and no spare cups anywhere else. The restaurant was not that full so the staff were not that busy. My partner and I have both worked in hospitality so know how customers should be dealt with. Staff could benefit from more training.

« Tiny room, and very noisy saturday night »

Its not hotel fault but people were shouting all night, breaking my peace. Hotel is very very old, needs to be refurbised. My room was very small, almost we hadnt space for our suitcases and my couple and me!

Initially put into the smallest room ever.When asked about a larger room we were moved straight away to a larger room.The room especially the bathroom was a little tired.Have stayed five times however this time the was a little disappointed.Would return though staff excellent and location perfect.

I book this hotel when we come to Glasgow because of the great central location, the price and the service. The rooms are always clean and comfortable. The staff are friendly and helpful. The breakfast is always good.

« Good beds, great location, but small, tired rooms. »

Staff great, beds comfortable, great central city location, but rooms very small, little room to unload luggage, decor somewhat tired. Rooms too warm even with heating switched off and no air conditioning to keep cool. Windows secured to allow only a little natural ventilation. Few faults reported eg safe broken, mirror light not working, toilet seat needed re-fastening. View from window was brick wall and cigarette butts left on flat roof adjacent window.

Arrived at hotel, check in was slow due to only one being on the desk. The guy was friendly, helpful and efficient. He explained everything we needed to know. Our room was clean and tidy. No issues. Breakfast was good and quick.

We only stayed for one night- staff were friendly and the location brilliant. We did not eat in the hotel, so can not comment on it. Parking is very convenient. I wish the room was a little bigger.

The rooms are in need of updating. The food is excellent and the "lovepromotion" was very good value. We would stay here again as it is very central.
