« Underwhelming »

For a premium City hotel I found the Mercure to be disappointing. The room was small, the facilities fairly minimum and the overall feel not particularly great. The bed was uncomfortable and the noise from the nearby Corinthian made for a terrible night’s sleep. Breakfast was fine but basic. I’ve had better nights in Glasgow in the Premier Inn which was half the price I paid (£206) for one night, so I’ll be saving myself some money next time and getting an overall better stay in the process.

Stayed here on business and very happy with the room and hotel facilities. Great location. At breakfast time I came downstairs and had to wait a while to be checked into breakfast. Once I got to the breakfast buffet every sausage I had taken was undercooked in the middle and at this point no staff around to tell or to take the undercooked ones off. After 4 pink sausages I had given up. Overall was very happy with the hotel but the breakfast let you down.

Rooms were way to hot. Toilet does not flush. Room and sheets were not clean. None stop street noise from people outside. Front desk staff run down from customer complaints of room size . Totally understandable.

Located near George Square. Reception area and staff welcoming. Double room was small as was bathroom. Room was clean but dark. Bathroom needed an upgrade as well as decorating. The cabinet around the base of sink unit looked like someone had been trying to break into it.

Normally my stay with mercure is problem free, but on this occasion, it was apparent that staff were not aware of the Accor rewards scheme and some particularly unhelpful.

this is the second birthday party I have been involved in with Mercure Glasgow. the experience has been delightful. Helpful staff, but not overpowering, pleasant, efficient , just lovely. Emma at the Livingstone office, who did most of the organising for me was once again very good. my only beef, and its a slight one, is that had I not known Emma from the first party, I dont know how happy I would have been talking to someone Long distance that I didn't know the strength of.

Hotel is well situated in the Merchant city. Room was very small with barely enough space to go between bed and dressing table. Hotel deducted £30 from our credit card on arrival, this is the first time I have had this, normally credit card details are taken but no amount deducted. Hotel made an error with bill and wrongly charged our room and we are still awaiting a refund of this and the initial £30 deduction! This is poor.

With regards to the charges on your credit card, this was a preauthorisation on your card taken as a guarantee for any extras on the account, it merely holds the funds in your account. This is to allow our guests to charge to their rooms and is optional. The preauthorisation expire naturally within 7 days if not used but I have spoken to the bank and had this cancelled manually so it should be back in your account.
