I needed a hotel that was close to Bradford and the Yorkshire Dales so the Mercure Bradford was a great choice. Friendly staff, a mix of old and new buildings and lots of charm surrounded by great scenery, it was easy to find, very comfortable and served a brilliant breakfast, too.

We have stayed here before, So we did know what to expect. The hotel is tired but clean , staff friendly. Breakfast buffet hearty. The hotel had run out of shower gel , there was shampoo and soap.

Welcome really friendly, excellent. Room good, large and airy, the bed really comfortable. The staff overall very good, the only disappointment was the breakfast. You had run out of some fresh fruit and also bread to toast. Overall, did I have an enjoyable stay and will I stay with you again, yes.

Room was located on main corridor so majority of guests walked past the room throughout the night with a creaky floor and talking then children running down corridor early in the morning. My bed was 4 feet away from the corridor with just my room door to separate me. Lots of noise outside our window due to event till late. Complained when checked out but 3 days later not heard from duty manager that I was told would contact me.

The building and bedrooms are a tad tired, they are of their age. That said, they are well maintained, the bedrooms, by modern standards are large and airy, the beds really comfortable. The real strength of this hotel are the friendly welcoming staff. I stay here about six times a year, only for one night. The welcome is as if I stayed here every week.

Tiered decor, poor service and priority for conference/event people over resident guests

Particularly didn’t like post-modernist 1970s Extension I was staying in with view onto derelict garages and west wing. Also didn’t like being told we had an hour wait for dinner coz a conference was in and then, when we ordered out, being sent to our rooms to eat it rather than socially with my colleagues in a quiet corner of bar. Also, ripoff prices in bar and att mot to check overcharge for a pint of Stella to £5.70 instead of £4.70 on first night.

Friendly staff. Hotel and room was clean but a little tired. Room deal £22 for meal at night was just a ‘deposit’ you paid any extra on night . No value whatsoever. May we’ll have said meal for £1 then pay extra

I was quite satisfied with my stay. The only problem I had was that I had a long walk to my room and at aged 84 I found it quite strenuous. Also we had difficulty getting a drink during the morning even a soft drink and a guest had to go to reception to ask for a member of staff to come to the bar to serve us which took a little while.

Firstly, your people are fantastic! So polite, helpful and friendly. However, clearly massively stretched and working incredibly hard to do their very best. The hotel however looks very tired, often unclean and in need of some serious tlc. Carpets through halls and in dining spaces were filthy. Shared bathroom spaces were also dirty. My room was actually okay, but many of my colleagues did not have this experience. The food was poor, and despite saying that I needed gluten free food before arrival, and on arrival, I needed to ask for it at each meal with my work event. In addition, I gave up asking at breaks when everyone else was presented with biscuits. Overall, experience was less than average verging on poor.

the staff seemed ill informed and instead of providing us with the three course meal we originally paid for, told us we were only allowed £22/per person for the meal. We were also not given the bottle of prosecco that was originally promised, but on confronting the manager with proof, we got it.

I thought the hotel needed some tlc, such as painting and tidying up in general. We could not see when walking into the hotel as the lobby was very dark. No lift to the first floor on our side of the hotel and even when using the lift on the other side it was a distance and included steps to get our suitcase down.

Everything spot on from arriving to leaving, in the evening I had the best burger I have ever had anywhere in the world and I cannot wait for my next stay on the 24th and 25th Dec 2019. Congratulations to whoever cooked that Burger they deserve a pay rise and promotion

We had a family room for one night. The room was huge and, despite there being a function on, very quiet. The room had everything we needed and large, comfortable beds. The furniture is functional and starting to show signs of wear and tear and the towels were a little thin but at the price not something to grumble about. The breakfast was good and worth adding to the cost. We had to alert the staff to some broken glass in the grassed courtyard area but it was promptly tidied up. Will stay again when visiting family.
