The staff were polite and helpful. The room was tired and the road noise disrupted sleep. The bathroom is in need of an update. Ordered 2 poached eggs which were the only warm thing available, everything else was cold. The coffee is poor quality too.

« Poor staff »

The food was ok and room was a little dated with no things like shower gel or even grab handles over the bath and I felt that the facilities in general need to be modernised as they were looking rather dated. Then we had a fire alarm go off and there was no staff near the exit with little to no signage to direct people to the assembly point, and then when we did the only staff around was a chef and a young lad whom seemed to not know what to do and was given the guest list but didn’t have a pen to mark guests off after he had checked their details and their was no communication from the staff to the guests to inform them what was happening.

Lack of staff. Having to go to reception to find out information regarding breakfast, having waited 5 mins in breakfast room with no staff. The same in the evening, no one serving behind the bar. Badly organised regarding fire evacuation when fire alarm went off. The chef was telling everyone where the main meeting point was. Only 2 members of staff in high viz and one gave the impression he wasn't sure what he should be doing. No-one checking guest list.

« Very Comfortable. Excellent Setting. »

Really enjoyed it, staff very friendly. Rooms very comfortable. The choice for breakfast excellent, but for dinner, not much choice if you don't like burgers. We ate in both evenings enjoyed what we had, but if stayed another night we would have gone out to a local pub, as another guest suggested. It was remarkable value for what we paid, but why oh why NO YORKSHIRE TEA. !

I stayed in the main hotel which was a little run down ie paintwork needed redoing, carpets cleaning. The room was pleasant enough, everything you could need. Would stay there again.

I have one big criticism concerning action taken when a fire alarm went off. Everyone assembled outside but nobody took names or room numbers. In event of an actual fire some one could have been missing. There is need of staff training on this point.

« Not very suitable for people with limited mobility. »

Seemed to be a lack of staff at times. Fire alarm set off at6.30 by drunken guest. I hope the staff were able to identify him and appropriate steps taken. Appeared to be no porter to assist with luggage and with limited mobility l struggled. I will not be staying at this particular hotel again.

« OK - noise from main road due to poor windows. »

Looked OK for the outside. The room was in an old part of the building and they are probably due a refurb soon. Windows in room were single glazed and old and did not block out any road noise - I kept thinking they were open due to the noise. There was a fire alarm in the early morning which meant everybody had to evacuate - 2 fire appliances turned up etc - it was a false alarm but no explanation or apology was mentioned when checking out in the morning. During the evacuation I took the fire escape which was dimly lit and at the bottom of the staircase it was dark - not what I would call safe - this needs investigating and improving. There was also equipment stored at the fire escape exit (inside). Overall my stay was OK but I felt it was expensive for the quality of the room and facilities.

Staff (check in, reception, bar, waiting) were all kind and excellent. Some paintwork in accomodation felt a little shabby/old, but clean. Nice white clean bedlinen and towels. Reception area, bar etc all clean and in very good condition.

« A 2 day stay in Bradford »

A very pleasant stay, the staff were excellent, the food very good. My room did not have a luggage stand or an easy chair, did ask housekeeping they said they did not have them. The decor is tired, maybe a refurbishment is due.

« Not up to the Standard expected, caused by an obvious shortage of staff »

As we were staying four nights I booked a Privilege room. We were not given a privilege room, a request was made for another Dressing Gown and a couple of arm chairs. We had comfortable conefrence room chairs supplied after getting a Manager involved. The first morning we went to Breakfast at 9.00am the Hot Breakfast Buffet was totally empty but for a few greasy serving dishes. The tables were not cleared, all this was rectified within 20 minutes or so. The next three mornings were not as bad. I understand that the Hotel caters for People on Coach Tours, Business Meetings and Weddings etc. I have no complaint about the staff who were very helpful, the comfort of the bed and the quiet room. The overall impression was of a serious shortage of staff.

« So close to being great »

Overall, staff are lovely and the built environment is quite good. However, there is clearly a lack of investment in the building and fittings and possibly a lack of attention to the whole hotel at a detail level. The entrance and grounds are a little weedy, tired, fountains empty, bathroom door handles hanging out, some lights not working, some bins not emptied. It's not that any one thing is a huge problem, but you get the feeling it could be such a great hotel with a little more attention to detail and loving care. An example to the lack of attention is that the email for this survey was 'signed' by a man who was the previous general manager, who I believe left some 9 or more months ago.

« Ok, but could have been better »

Booked a privilege room. The room itself was nothing special, just a fairly average hotel room. The advertised Nespresso machine was there, but no pods. Apparently there had been a problem with the delivery. We also had a problem with dying wasps coming in to the room and congregating on the windowsill. On the plus side, the staff were friendly and helpful. As I suffer from Coeliac Disease I was worried about the breakfast, but there were gluten free cereals and baked-to-order gluten free bread rolls. The evening menu was quite limited, but they were happy to make changes to dishes to make them gluten free. Recommendations for improvement: - A bit more care over building maintenance. Just to keep things looking a bit tidier and prevent issues such as wasp nests. - Contingency plans for delivery failures - place orders earlier to allow for issues. - Fridges in rooms to allow guests to keep cold drinks properly cold. Also useful for diabetics to keep their insulin cold.

Firstly I booked a classic room provisionally via email for a wedding party and called to make payment. There was no answer everytime I called. The person who emailed me said they would call me back which was one attempt but I missed their call so I tried calling back with no answer again. I emailed several times to say this and had called many times more to make payment but again, there was no answer (I ensured I called during their working hours). My phone bill came back and I had spent over £5 calling but was never connected. Someone emailed me back and said the room was provisionally booked but they'll try to call me for payment; no one had called. Five months later, I received an email two days before my arrival stating that if I did not call by 2pm the next day to make payment, they would cancel my booking. You can imagine how irritated I was by this statement as I had already made several attempts via email and phone to contact them (unnecessarily costing me money to call). I emailed back requesting someone call me from 4pm that day to collect payment, and surprise surprise, no one bothered to call me. Consequently I had to call to make payment. Upon arrival, the lady at reception said our room was not ready and she would have to re-room us. When we got to our room, I realised that she had placed us in a compact room (cheaper room) when we had booked a classic room. I went downstairs to highlight this and she had apologised and given us drink vouchers to make up for this. She re-roomed us into a classic room so when we moved our belongings to our new room, our key had not worked. My husband went downstairs to reception to get this fixed whilst I sat outside the room waiting (see picture). As it was busy downstairs and another couple was having issues with their booking as well, it took awhile to get our key. Considering that we had a wedding to get ready for, we ended up not having very much time to get ready which was extremely frustrating as we arrived in good time. In addition to this, we now didn't have time to use our vouchers for a free drink. The room (221) was comfortable but there was a funny damp smell in there so we had to leave the windows opened. Breakfast was good but that's all we enjoyed at the hotel to be honest m The hotel has poor communication (or even lacked communication); it is disorganised and has caused us unnecessary stress (and additional costs). Overall really disappointed with your service.

Rude staff that need training in basic waiting skills. One passed a plate right across the front of my face whilst I was eating. Cold food at the majority of the meals. Very basic lunches with only water to drink. Never enough sugar for hot drinks. No attention to detail in room cleaning. (Dusty skirting boards, lamps etc.) Lots of 'chef specials' for lunch (recycled evening meals) Room was lovely, let down by lack of attention to detail. Hotel generally shabby and in need of a refurb and good clean.

The hotel room needs renovating. The bathroom has dirty corners and peeling paint, and there were cobwebs around the lamp on the left side of the bed. I did request twin beds but got a double which fir the size of the room was inadequate. My husband is disabled and takes up quite a lot of room as we had to do tip to tie sleeping, which was not good. I have had this room before and reported dissatisfaction and requested the room. You really need to look at the doors as they are so heavy when you are using a wheelchair and there are no door catches when you enter.
