Room large and comfortable and clean. Food excellent. Staff hardworking and helpful. Only drawback we had a lot of stairs to climb and corridors to walk down. There was a lift but it was more direct to tackle the stairs. Based on this experience would recommend this hotel.

Room was freezing cold. Had to change rooms. Food at dinner was excellent. Bar service was poor. Drinks were grossly overpriced. Entertainment was good although disco was poor. Breakfast was good. Hotel decor was tired and dated.

Everything extremely good until bedtime! The duvet cover had not been put on properly so we had to sort it out ourselves. This is not the first time we have drawn this to your attention - hope it doesn't happen again.

« Room was sold as disabled access with wet room but not suitable for wheelchair user. »

Having booked two rooms , one with disabled access with a wet room for my wheelchair bound son, he found he was unable to use the toilet or the shower due to lack of room for his wheelchair and also toilet tucked in behind sink (not very clever) and again not accessible in his wheelchair. The bathroom is not suitable for a wheelchair user . We had to take him downstairs to the disabled toilet near the bar , this was suitable for a wheelchair user. I had rung up before we booked the hotel and was assured the room would be suitable. Not very happy at all. The other room we booked was ok but we were put on a floor above my son and would like to have been near him. We did enjoy a bar meal and the breakfasts.

« Perfect stay »

We stayed at the Mercure to attend a wedding at East Riddleston Hall. This was our first hotel stay with our baby and everyone was so helpful and supportive. At breakfast the staff asked to help me serve myself since the babe is too small for a high chair and we had everything we needed in the room. It was so peaceful and comfortable that the baby also better in the hotel then at home.

Our stay from start to finish was great. A dream come true to sleep in an old stately home. On arrival we were greated by a friendly member of reception staff. Once in the dining room we have a very helpful friendly waitress. We had garlic bread with cheese that was so tasty. My daughter had Pizza and I had chicken burger. The quality of food was more than expected. We both left very full! Our room was warm and cosy with everything we needed. Breakfast was served until 11am on the Sunday morning which meant we didn’t have to rush to get ready. Once again the food was filling and tasty. I asked for scrambled egg which was cooked fresh for me and the best eggs I’ve had. A good selection of breakfast food. On the way out the receptionist kindly took some photos of my daughter and I at the Christmas tree. Had the time to take to have a Christmas time conversation. The Hotel grounds looks lovely too. Previous to this I called the hotel to book and a helpful male receptionist was helpful and emailed me the food menu. All in all this is a fantastic place to stay and I’m happy we chose here.

« Lovely building, but incredibly cold room and poor service. »

THe building is lovely and unique, but I was incredibly disappointed with my stay. The room was freezing for the entire time of my stay. There was a portable heater that barely made any difference and kept turning itself off. I didn't get any work done like I had planned to because I had to stay under the duvet the entire time. I was then waiting 10 minutes to check out at reception before I could get any staff's attention. Worst hotel stay that I've had in a very long time.

« less than average and standard below what I expected »

The service in recpetion was ok but the staff were very scruffy and slow to manage booking in and booking out unable to complete simple tasks without asking for assistance, no apology for delay and limited communication. The decor in the room/bathroom was very dated which would have been ok if the room had been clean but it wasn't. The bathroom bin had not been emptied from the previous guest and there were empty containers of shower gel in the shower. The food in the restaurant was over priced and of poor quality. £16 for a bland dry chicken burger with 'oven chips'. The people I was staying with had euqally poor food fish and chips which was greasy and didnt taste fresh. The price of a beer was extortionate at £5.80 in Bradford.

« Poorly maintained and shabby »

The first room I was given (to which I was directed by reception completely wrongly) was extremely cold. The radiator in thd room was cold and would not come on. Although a small radiator was brought to me it was still too cold. I moved rooms. This room was warm but the toilet would not flush for the whole of my stay - not pleasant. There was dried toothpaste around the taps, and a shirt - I presume from the previous guest - still hanging in the wardrobe area. This did not give me much confidence that the room had been thoroughly cleaned or checked. I will not stay at the hotel again and could not really recommend it. I was offered a free breakfast when I checked out and told staff of my experience - note staff did not ask me how my stay had been

Firstly the rooms were very tired and in huge need of repair , the heating in both room did not work and room was very cold, the bathroom extremely poor the whole thing was awful to point we could not sleep. We have stayed in budget hotels before but this was way below the standard what Mercure should be . After a poor night sleep , we also was not able to have breakfast as it was not open, we did explain at time of booking one breakfast as we had to be int he hospital across the road for 7am so at time of booking was very clear we required breakfast at least at 6.30am. . Was given a very frosty hello when went in tot he breakfast at 6.30 to just ask for a glass of water , so felt no way we can ask the lady to accommodate us early. The whole thing was very poor . Our room was spacious, quiet and spotlessly clean. Hotel easy to access and a great base for Saltaire which was a pretty canal walk away. Bar areaprovided a relaxed base to meet up w friends and family.
