« Pleasant Stay with a upgrade »

Very pleasant stay as we were given a free upgrade as we had a buyagift voucher. Upgraded to a superior room with nice view and lots of space. The room had everything we needed, however the flush on the toilet did not work correctly.

A decent hotel, but there are a few improvements to be made. The room I was in had an adjoining door, which was not very soundproof. I was lucky the people in the next room were not particularly loud. I will say that the gym on site is excellent though

« Excellent short break »

We stayed for two nights early February and were very impressed with the hotel. The room was warm, comfortable and well appointed. The food was good and staff friendly and welcoming. Other reviews suggested the menu was expensive but the food quality was good and the prices comparable with many gastro pubs. The only small criticism I could make is that bar and waiting staff were not always around, however,as the hotel was very quiet i would assume less staff were on duty than at busy times. Overall great value for money and hope to return.

« After swapping rooms, a nice comfortable stay. Just wish you hadn't tried to put me in an old, cold tatty room to begin with. »

Booked a classic double. Apparently, you'd overbooked on them that night and I was booked into a Studio room. No heating, it was cold, there was no bath despite me booking the Mercure for that very reason, and the furniture was old and falling apart. Literally. A really poor start. I went to the desk to ask to be moved to a room with a bath and (partly due to the fact I will be staying in Leeds at least one day a week for the next year, and there was the hope I would set up a corporate rate with you I believe) I was offered an upgrade. The upgraded room was only what I would have expected from other Mercure hotels I'd stayed in and what I was expecting to find as standard in Leeds so this was disappointing that it wasn't offered initially and I had to mess around. Pool needs upgrading, it's very tired, and small! I didn't have breakfast. Manager and lady on the front desk were very kind and speedy though. Guy at the desk in the pool area was very helpful and smiley. Overall, I'd stay again but only in the upgraded rooms.

Staff were great but heating was off in my room on the coldest night of the year. Staff did not act on my request to move room but lent me a fan heater. I was told there was an engineer on the way and all should be well in about an hour. However the fault was still there in the morning.

First night experienced diabolical noise from room above from 19.00 Saturday till 07.00 Sunday. Slept badly, even with earplugs, due to racket above. The road noise was constant throughout stay as the patio door to balcony did not close tightly like a window would have. The pillows were the worst I have encountered in this country and abroad, excessively hard. There was no pillow protector on them either. They were badly stained and made me feel sick to look at them. On the plus side however, all the staff I spoke to were very friendly and helpful. I told the receptionist at check out about the noise and pillows. She said I could have requested more pillows. I just wonder why you would give the offensive health hazards to paying guests in the first place! She did also suggest that I might have got on better if I had paid more money and had a room at the rear of the hotel. I will consider for another occasion as I do like the location of the Parkway.

« Good but marred by a very disturbed night. »

Good value, good food, friendly and helpful staff. However, we were disturbed on one of the nights by some very rowdy guests staying in the room next to us. In general the hotel staff dealt with this satisfactorily but I think that it should have been dealt with more quickly. I alerted the reception staff to the problem at 11:30 and again at 12. A member of staff knocked on the door and asked the guests to be more quiet but he failed to come later to check that the noise had stopped. The problem was not satisfactorily resolved until about 5 o’clock when the people had to be removed by the police. I think that your staff a member should have come back soon to check that the room had become quiet. If he had done this I would not have had such a bad night.

It was OK. The hotel is quite dated and our room was only a basic double room and standard double bed. The breakfast buffet was good, choice of eggs etc (albeit it took 10-15 minutes for a poached egg and some scrambled egg). The food in the evening was adequate and reasonable choice. As this stay was a Red letter stay it was fine, but I would be disappointed to have paid ourselves around £140 for dinner, B & B as I didn't think this was value for money.

Excellent great food lovely quiet room. We left a mobile phone in our room and didn’t realise until we got to the airport. I rang the hotel they put it in a taxi in an envelope and got it to us via taxi at the airport. What better service could you ask for. Will definitely be back.

It was a strange experience in a way. The hotel is easy to find but lack of signs at night makes it hard to know when to turn in, etc. Check-in took far too long despite being no queue. The room was clean and tidy, and I had a good night's sleep. The lock is broken on the balcony door so I had to carry my laptop around with me for food etc. The food was awful though. I ordered the soup of the day (it was microwaved and had a skin on it) and a cheese and panini toastie which looked like one you'd get off a burger van rather than a nice hotel. My colleague ordered the spag bol which had cheap, undercooked pasta and what looked like a tin of bolognese sauce thrown on top. The breakfast was okay. But not a wide range of choice for me as I'm trying to eat healthy. No scrambled eggs, just fried. No range of yoghurts available and the fruit just looked sad...and you refused to provide me with soya milk. Won't stay again sadly.
