Receptionist couldn’t even be bothered to look up when we arrived Room service and reception barely ever answer their phones - had to go back down stairs to order room service Room service took two hours and three re~orders to arrive. My husbands meal was stone cold. Chips were still frozen in the middle. My meal had been completely missed off. Very noisy party on until 1am. Guests next door were so noisy that at 2am I rang reception three times but no one ever answered. Appalling service and worst night sleep I’ve ever had.

We was here for a wedding, room was lovely and clean, the only issue was the temperature of the room it was so hot, no air con, but also limited fans. Each room should be provided with a big fan, we struggled to sleep at night and get ready for the wedding due to it being so warm. When we arrived we looked out the window to an amazing view of your stunning grounds, just a shame to see five tables that hadn’t been cleared of lunchtime dishes (this was 5 in the afternoon) but also noticed the following morning as we got ready for the big day they still hadn’t been cleared. Just an eye sore but also to be left outside all night really isn’t hygienic. The food we had at the hotel was delicious. Breakfast was lovely, huge amount of choice, only let down was after the wedding we would have thought they would have done a later breakfast, but still stuck with 9.30 which a lot of the family didn’t make it down to after a late night which was a shame. The wedding itself was brilliant, just a few things as guests I noticed, the room they got married in was like an oven, very uncomfortable for all the guests who were melting by the time the bride arrived, beautiful room and set up lovely, just way too warm. The drinks reception was lovely, however when we went in for our sit down meal (which again was amazing) and sat down through speeches (a few hours later) when we left the room for it to be changed over we went outside and none of the tables had been cleared again which had lots of Buck’s Fizz left over and was attracting wasps which wasn’t fun to be around. Just little things that I think could have been attended to and would have made this hotel perfect. As it really was a lovely hotel and the food was great!

Booking process online was awful and I had to make many phone calls to sort it out being sent back and forth from central reservations to the hotel and back again My overall stay was ok however please note the following: - the disabled room is SO far away from reception, a disabled walking person would have serious difficulties and to push a wheelchair that far is so hard. A disabled person on their own would have no chance with all the doors. Not disabled friendly at all this hotel. - disabled room good, wrong place in hotel - no air conditioning - shower very weak - windows only open a tiny bit so in this heat with no air con it was unbearable. my brother's family room was stifling and I had to leave - could do with updating as very old fashioned - no safe in room - no fridge in room - large gardens but garden furniture tatty - had to find someone to man the bar - dinner nice but lots not available on menu - breakfast first morning fine but second morning had to hang around and wait as so much was empty or missing from buffet and not enough staff - staff lovely, Maria or Marie was exceptional. Young girl, very helpful indeed.

This hotel is is desperate need of repairs and staff retraining. Stayed here for 2 weeks for work, in 2 different rooms. Both had damaged tiles in bathroom, sealant cracked and missing around bath, and what looked like black mould in the corner where the shower screen joined the wall. Rooms smelt almost fishy when entered, and on one occasion my room door was not shut properly after housekeeping, allowing it to be opened without the use of the key. Thankfully, everything was still there, but any opportunistic thieves could have been in and taken valuables left in the room, i.e iPad and laptop. Reported to front desk and heard no more about this. Also, staff did not speak when said hello or good morning to. Finally, when staying in a ground floor room when staff are in the office that overlooks what can only be described as a very sparse conservatory you are watched the whole way past the windows, making for a very uncomfortable return to your room. All in all, I definitely will not be visiting again

« Really good stay with a few little niggles. »

Really enjoyed our stay here. However, there were a few little niggles. The breakfast was not very well organised, the area didn't seem big enough for the amount of guests and the buffet was hard to keep stocked. When things ran out, they were quite slow to replenish them. Our room was clean and adequate, but there were signs of fatigue that I didn't expect to see at a Mercure. The bed only had castors on one side, so it was at a slight angle. The toilet flush was surrounded by broken tiles giving it the appearance of being in a hole in the wall. There was lots of limescale on the toilet flush(?) There were broken tiles on the bathroom floor that were too easy to catch your toe on. Like I say, little niggles.

« A hotel which seems to be improving »

I have been staying at the mercure willerby for many years - and recently it seems to be improving. The rooms have always been good quality and cleanliness and hygeine are high standard. However, I think that the customer service seems to be improving - and the food has improved too of late. We didn't eat this time, but the previous time we had a bar meal and had one of the specials - chicken kebabs, which were lovely - and a caeser salad which was perfect. The staff were very friendly and helpful and should be commended for their work.

Staff very helpful. Bedroom clean. Problems operating on/off control on shower - very stiff, needing two hands to turn. Only one chair. Washbasin very low on wall and large support-bars on walls - was it originally a room for disabled? 'Specials' not too specialised e.g Lasagne Would have been more convenient to have milk on the table for breakfast.

This year we have travelled to Hull more than normal due to family illness. This hotel is on the outskirts of town and set in its own peaceful grounds. The rooms we have been allocated are in fact the largest I have experienced anywhere in the country and although not airconditioned are well shaded and cool. An ample assortment of pubs and speciality dining venues as well as fast food are within walking distance, and although just off the by-pass the hotel is well shielded from noise. Additionally there is a swimming pool and gym onsite with sauna and steam room to aid relaxation, it is a short 15 minutes by car into the centre of town and a further 10 to the ferry terminal if you are traveling onward. I would recommend this hotel for any short stay in east Yorkshire as a base for visiting the coast or a longer stay for days out in greater Yorkshire area, the A63/M62 making for a swift journey inland.

« Pleasant , smart hotel in quiet location »

We enjoyed our stay - staff were welcoming and friendly. Although our room was quite a walk from reception, it was quiet and well kept. There was a wedding at the hotel but we were not disturbed. The room service was excellent with some delicious choices. We were supposed to receive a welcoming drink with our package but this was not offered.
