Good experience, slept well but the walls between bedrooms were so thin I could hear absolutely everything the people either side were doing. I was kept awake one night by the couple one side of me so soundproofing rooms would be a good idea

Hotel was very good. Food was excellent. Staff were polite, friendly and professional. However, a cold bathroom with dated facilities and a very underpowered shower really let the side down.

« A dated and tired experience with staff that didnt care »

I have stayed in a number of Mecure hotels and associate the brand with being a premium chain of hotels. The Grange hotel in Hull, couldn't be further from this if it tried. Initial impressions were very good. Nice decor in the entrance and helpful receptionist. However the rooms were tired and cheaply finished, it had the resemblance of an Army barracks about it, the toilet didn't work, meaning a hasty room swap, and the hot taps in the bath were shut off. In the morning the breakfast was inedible, cold rock hard and with very few options. Considering this was a paid extra I am not impressed and will expect a full refund. When a complaint was made the Indifferent staff were unhelpful. The restaurant manager made no real apology other than the chef had been spoken too. I will definitely think twice about staying in a Mercure hotel again. I have had better stays in budget hotels than I have with this supposed premium brand.

There was a small incident that spoilt my stay a little. I had seen on line that mecure had Christmas cocktails on offer buy one get one half price but the lady on the bar knew nothing about this. It took over half an hour for her to get someone to make our cocktails. I had to show her the offer on my phone as you didn’t have a cocktail menu available. However the evening redeemed itself by the excellent service received by Sam in the restaurant she was lovely and a credit to your hotel and made us forget our incident at the bar

First night was horrendous, we wasn't informed we had been out in a room directly above the function room and the noise was unreal the windows vibrated along with the music needless to say we got very little sleep last night due to people shouting in the corridors and the music downstairs, also upon removing the ironing board from the wall chips fell out of it, the 2nd night we where in a different room and that was a lot better zero noise and a lovely spacious room, there where a couple of down points a tile above the bath was quite badly broken and there was a dried up slightly on the bedroom floor which my partner had to remove

« Pleasant relaxed stay. »

It was pleasant and relaxed with the checkout time being at midday, we did not feel we had to be up early. Our room had a connecting door to the neighbouring room, this was a small issue as we could hear everything the neighbours were saying. Overall however I thought the rooms were clean and nicely put together and we had a good one night stay.

« Could have been better »

The purpose of this trip was my sister was having life saving surgery at the close by castle hill hospital. My mother and I therefore needed to be close by. The hotel, surroundings, staff and facilities were all very lovely. The room itself was okay (room 27) however the bed was so uncomfortable and therefore provided a poor night sleep. The temperature of the room was very cold despite the radiator being on full ( I acknowledge this may be due to the room being on a corner and the chilly weather conditions that day). In addition to this there was so much noise throughout night, doors slamming, light streaming through the edge of the corridor and noise from delivery men/ vehicles directly underneath the room. The food we had for breakfast the following day was nice. We had to stay in the area another night but decided to stay in another hotel for the remainder of the trip due to lack of sleep, we were much happier with our experience at the other hotel which provided a comfortable and restful night sleep.
