Provided a location near to Hull to visit the city. Made use of the bus service rather than paying for car parks. Sally very helpful at reception in providing bus info.

We spent 2 nights at the hotel, we had 2 times dinner in the hotel restaurant. The first time was excellent, the next time (my birthday!) was so bad we made a complaint which was accepted, we did not have to pay and got a complimentary dessert. The doors of the rooms slam shut with a loud bang, people in the next room left and entered their room 3, 4 times within 10 minutes, repeatedly, this was pretty unnerving.

« Relaxing country hotel break. »

Nicely presented Hotel, good sized pleasant room. There were a few hangers but no draw space at all so had to keep smalls etc in case. As we were staying for 3 nights it was not really suitable. Overall lovely Hotel, nice staff, quiet , great beds and blackout curtains, lovely and quiet, lovely food, great spa treatments reasonably priced. We had a great stay.

Easy checkin, pleasant bar and staff, modern room, huge bed...shame about the bathroom, like stepping back to the 1980s. Quiet room towards the back of the hotel overlooking fields and trees, plenty of parking, quick and painless check out.

Gorgeous light spacious room, immaculately clean. Staff very efficient and helpful. The only let down was the main course of the evening meal which could have been better. Couldn't complain though as overall excellent.

The majority of our stay was excellent but we got down for breakfast on the Saturday morning at 7.30 am and we were told that the buffet was not available as we were too early. We were very disapointed as we were within the times stated in the leaflet we were given by reception. The dining staff provided us with a plated full english which was nice but i dont eat beans and i dont like hash browns or mushrooms. If i had served myself as i would have expected to do, i wouldnt have picked those items at all . On our previous stay with you in May breakfast was too busy as there were lots of children running all over the dining room due to a wedding party, the kitchen staff could not meet the demand and things were slow to be replaced it was not an enjoyable experience. Hence why we went down early to enjoy a peaceful breakfast. It should state buffet not available till after 8.00am whiich would avoid this happening. Buffet does mean serve yourself after all and thats what we booked.

All the staff were welcoming and had good customer service skills, which compensated for some of the room issues...thin walls, so noisy. Lack of cloth space if staying for more than one night. Bathroom tired. Housekeeping a bit hit and miss....hoovering, mirror/surfaces dusty

The hotel was adequate the quality of the room was basic the bathroom was inadeaquate and in need of refurbishment given guest expectations in 2017. The cost of the nights stay was £172.00 we have experienced a much better standard accommodation from your competitors who are responsive to the needs of the modern traveller.The staff were pleasant especially Sally and Gary who were very helpful. The breakfast was fine and breakfast staff very pleasant and helpful. In relation to the "mercure quality guarantee" that you offer ,this was not met we attended a concert in Hull the "city of culture" and had no means of return to the hotel , public transport did not arrive although assured and we had purchased return tickets , all taxi companies contacted not availble for over 2 hours . I contacted the hotel and spoke with Gary the night manager who was unable to help us return to the hotel. The hotelnight manager had no means or authority to support us and was unable to offer any suggestions other than to wait in a taxi cab office for several hours in the hope that a taxi may become available. This would not happen in Manchester, Liverpool other previous cities of culture. Therfore as first time visitiors to your lovley city we were stranded, and the area where the concert was taking place felt unsafe. I telephoned Gary the night manager and conveyed my concerns who tried his best to assist but sadly could do nothing,this was quite a frightening experience with no means of return to the hotel,we felt abandoned and let down. My suggestion would be as a hotel to have a strategy in place to support your guest for safe return to your hotel. This is given your expert knowledge of the city and access to public transport and taxi services which as an established hotel orgnaisation you obvioulsy would have known and would have been able to ensure our safe passage back to the hotel. I expect this is a bigger issue in Hull in relation to public services, and a lack of infrastructure to cope with a large event such as a headline concert the city appeared to be at standstill and unable to cope with the volume of people seeking safe transfer to their destination.We eventually had no alternative but to approach a couple who had secured a taxi and sought their help and that of their taxi driver and asked would they be prepared to take us back to Mercure hotel given our difficult situation. This was only possible because of the kindness of the people who were visitors to Hull and amazing female taxi driver who will have our eternal gratitutude. This was a sad end to a beautiful day and evening in the Hull the "City of Culture". We loved Hull and its people who showed us friendship and kindness. However we feel let down and abandoned by the Mercure Hotel when we sought their help, the Mercure Quality Guarantee states as follows: " To ensure that your stay with us is to your complete satisfaction we have created the Mercure Guarantee. This means that we have committed to being available , reactive and attentive to your needs at every stage of your stay." I hope the hotel take on board our concerns and candid feedback to assit you in improvignyour service

The staff were generally pleasant and the bed comfortable. The bar was badly stocked and erratically serviced. The bill when it arrived was horribly wrong and it too a fair amount of effort on my part to have it corrected. Hull is great but I would never use this hotel again.
