Thoroughly enjoyed our stay with sister-in-law and her husband. Beautiful setting with spectacular views from the breakfast table. Staff very friendly and helpful. Beds very comfortable, with spacious rooms. Would definitely stay here again.

Very very disappointing, some of the lights didn't work in our room, no extractor fan in the bathroom, room dark and dated, bed not made properly dirty glasses left in room not enough bath towels. Booked dinner for 29th June food was appalling and what made it worse it happened to be my birthday, really upset now went back to our room did not feel like l could continue to enjoy my birthday. And then we had to listen to staff arguing outside the kitchen area below our window. We had travelled over 180miles hoping to have a lovely break and enjoy my birthday, all we wanted to do is check out and go home. I don't want to use another mercures hotel ever again

Stayed for two nights, the weather was extremely hot, it was lovely to find a large fan in the bedroom. On each evening the barman was quite happy to supply me with a large jug of iced water to take up to our room.

Stayed with business, although weather is hot, room never cooled down, fan provided is totally inadequate. I have a temp gauge on clock and room never got below 27 degree, far too hot... food pre-paid was to be honest awful (my PA is following this up)

Staff brilliant venue delightful grounds lovely. Our room spotless but needing a facelift but extremely comfortable. We were on a special package so worth the money but especially when it comes to food nowhere near four star standard.

We arrived late in the evening as we had been delayed en route. The check in was speedy. The room was of the usual good Mercure standard, but the hot water ap in the wash basin did not work. Was too tired to raise the issue until we left. The shower worked efficiently. Did not stay for breakfast as we were meeting family for breakfast elsewhere.

26th June 2018 Dear Mr. Chambers, Thank you for your recent email enquiring about my recent stay at Elcot Park with my wife. The tone of your email came as something of a surprise given the disappointing visit that we endured. I had presumed that your staff would have informed you of the multiple problems we encountered, but clearly this is not the case. This was our first visit to a Mercure hotel as part of our Accor Hotels membership and sadly it has not filled me with anticipation of an enjoyable time for future visits. I booked our room through the Accor Hotels website on the 16th May with the reservation number GJVLGBXN and under the Special requirements tab we requested a quiet room. We arrived at Elcot Park at approximately 9.50pm on Friday to find that you had no record of our booking. Immediately I began to question myself as to whether I had actually made a booking or whether possibly I had never confirmed the booking and my payment. We enquired as to whether there might be a room available and the gentlemen dealing with us suggested in a rather off-hand manner that he might be able to find us a twin room. He displayed no sympathy for our situation and did not make us feel welcome or valued at all. Whilst he was looking at his computer, I opened my Accor Hotel app and found a copy of our booking. The tone of your Receptionist changed slightly at this point but he continued to blame the problem on a central reservation system whilst offering us no apology. To his credit, he did then offer to put us in the Bridal suite for Friday night so long as we could be out early and then transfer to the standard room we had reserved. This was acceptable to us and we were issued with magnetic cards to access the room. The problems regarding booking in were sadly not the only issues we faced. Having ascended to our room the cards would not allow us access to the room. After returning to Reception twice a member of staff accompanied us to the room and had to use his master card to gain access. This was not a great problem as we had no intention of leaving the room until the morning but our disappointment was increasing. Neither my wife nor I slept well that night because of the fire exit notice displayed on the door in the room behind the TV: with no door handle on our side of the door we were concerned as to how we could exit as well as the dangers of having a large table and television blocking the way. Consulting the fire exit plan by the door to be sure we knew where we should vacate to in the unlikely event of a fire left us equally concerned as the plan posted by the door was not up to date and displayed different information from that displayed in the room. In the morning we packed our belongings and descended to Reception by 9.00am, to be told that our reservation had not been available to the hotel the previous evening because the system was down and that we should have been allocated room 64 which was ready for us. We were escorted to our room with our belongings and were pleased to enter a room that was of the standard that we had booked. I explained that I was pleased to have been relocated to a king size bed rather than the narrower bed we had slept in in in the Bridal suite which my wife had found very difficult to climb into and from which it is very hard to even turn off your bedside light because the bedside tables are so much lower than the bed! At this point what I could not understand is why we had not been offered room 64 the previous evening if that had been allocated for our reservation or was it actually that the hotel was overbooked for the standard of room we had requested. Either way we were pleased to now be in what we presumed would be a quiet room with a bed of the standard we had booked. Unfortunately even this was not the end of our dissatisfaction. Upon our return to the hotel at approximately 10.55pm it was abundantly clear that we had not been allocated a quiet room. I am sure you are aware of the location of room 64 and the effect of the spiral staircase as a noise tunnel for the disco below. Once more our door key failed to open our door and I had to make three visits back to Reception, each time having to ring the phone for the Night Porter and then wait for his return, before I was issued with a card which opened the door. On the first occasion the Night Porter implied the problem was caused by me keeping the cards next to my mobile, a problem I am well aware of and something I take care to avoid. At no point did we ever receive anything more than a cursory apology, indeed on my third trip to Reception I had to insist that someone accompany me back to the room to let us in. Eventually at approximately 12.10am the disco finished and by close to 1.00am we were able to sleep in a quiet environment. Having made a number of journeys to Reception at 11.00pm I am well aware that there were parts of the hotel from which I could not hear music from either disco so I am perplexed as to why we were not allocated one of those rooms. If the reason is because those rooms do not have king size beds or are more expensive then surely it would have been courteous to explain that? Equally the hotel could have informed us on Saturday morning that there would be a disturbance until at least midnight. From our perspective we might have elected to stay out until later. Thus I am sure you can appreciate that our recent visit was not pleasurable and I am concerned about future visits to Accord Hotels.

We arrived on Sunday 24 June on a very hot afternoon. Checking in at reception was very quick and simple. Upon entering our room our promised bottle of Prosecco was awaiting us, alas some ice in bucket would have been nice to keep it cool as, there was no fridge in the room so quite warm, but a lovely gesture, thank you. We ate our evening meal each night of our stay and, we thoroughly enjoyed dinner each evening, our compliments to the chef. Staff were really friendly and very helpful indeed, thank you Peter for telling us where to go for antiques, I love the vases I bought. Breakfast was more than adequate I had a gorgeous omelette each day. There was plenty to choose from. Wine list very good too. Setting was lovely and what a lovely old Manor House. Our thanks to Adam, Hassan, Peter and dear Marco. Thank you all for making us feel “wanted” and not just “visitors”, nothing was too much trouble. Would thoroughly recommend this place to all our friends.

Awful. Relegated to dingy, grotty rooms as we had our dog with us. Banned from the restaurant and terrace bar area - as we had our dog - we were SENT OUTSIDE to eat. Dinner AND breakfast. It should be made clear that dogs are allowed but you will dumped in the shabby out-house rooms and point out you will not be able to enjoy any of the hotel facilities either, you will be asked to sit outside. In the evening, luckily it was warm. Breakfast outside on the terrace was freezing. I am extremely annoyed. A disgraceful way to be treated.

« Loved the location, but not enough staff in the evening when there was an event on »

The evening meal was an anti-climax as there was an event on and we were made to wait over 20 minutes for our table. This was compounded by the lack of good staff on the bar, resulting in long waiting times for a drink. The hotel is lovely and a great location, but the staff in the evening could have done a lot better.

Food was very poor . Choices at breakfast extremely limited and did not reflect the menus on tables ( i.e no fresh fruit , no “ assorted breads “, no black pudding , no preserves ) , coffee machine empty , no cups available , no yogurt . Service at dinner appalling, waited 40 minutes for our “ nibbles whilst waiting for starter “ and then the “assorted breads and butter turned out to be 1 bread roll cut in half and toasted ! Started arrived after 50 minutes wait . Wine didn’t arrive at all and then when we asked for it were charged twice . ( I could go on !)
