WE had to move rooms due to poor sound insulation the second room was not much better as we could hear people talking on the floor below!! No hotel restaurant available first night, bar area cold due to deliveries being brought in through front door, breakfast service was poor due to inefficient tea coffee makers, far too busy for four staff members On a good note staff were excellent especially Simon behind bar

« Great nights sleep, clean room, shame about the breakfast experience »

It was a lovely nights sleep an a clean spacious room the only problem was at breakfast I had to wait for approx 15 mins to be seated as no one was at the desk and it said wait to be seated i eventually went to look for someone. Although the hot food was kept replenished the hot drinks machine ran out of milk and water and I had to wait again the choice of continental buns/croissants was limited and staff seemed to running about all over the place.

Staff very helpful, liked our room, power shower very good, hotel was in a very good position - views over fields but a short walk to a park and ride to get to Chester, the breakfast was very good - excellent to have fresh fruit and lots of choice for hot food, all let down by the one dinner we had in the hotel - poor options for the set meal and not a lot of things we liked on the a la carte menu - all very bland.

« Bit tired. »

1st room 132 was noisy. Low level rumble from a boiler which became very noticeable when we tried to go to sleep. Had to move about 11pm to another room 350. On the 2bd day we noticed a faint smell but couldn't be bothered to complain as it was just a place to sleep.

« Hotel is overdue a refurbishment, over priced for the accomodation on offer. »

Our recent stay at the hotel could have been better, the accomodation needs a refurbishment. The stay wasn’t helped by the next door bedroom having what sounded like a party until 2.30am. On the plus side the staff were good but I wouldn’t want a return visit until an upgrade has taken place.

« The service by some members of staff is shocking and food ruined my wedding »

Returned for my anniversary after the Chester Mercure ruined the food on my wedding day. I actually thought they might make some effort this time. unfortunately not, less than impressive service, food inedible, room had a lovely view of a waste skip. then when I asked to speak with a manager to discuss the service, he didn't bother to call me back. sums it up perfectly. Poor management!!!!

When we first arrived our room hadn’t been cleaned. The cups had been used, the soap was used, there was trash in the trash can and the pillow had been slept on. So we went down to reception to ask for new cups because we were too tired to bother to argue, we spoke to Simon who apologised and was very polite. He then moved us to a different room (a suite) and bless him, because of him we had a fabulous stay. Simon exceeded our expectations and made the stay very easy for us. Thank you very much Ps. The only feedback we have for Simon was that he forgot to tell us the checkout time.

Good location, good sized room which was clean and tidy but does need some remedial maintenance as grouting between tiles had disintegrated which was potentially unhygienic and uncomfortable to walk on in bare feet with some tiles badly cracked and loose, we did bring this to receptions attention. We were disappointed with the breakfast service and lack of staff leading to uncleared tables and non replacement of food, guests had to continually ask for cups, plates, bowls and food. Again we drew this to attention of reception and did improve slightly on subsequent days but still lack of staff and further training needed for staff. There was another incident with staff on the bar regarding hygiene which stopped us from purchasing a drink at the bar which was brought to the attention of reception at the time. Overall reception staff were great as were the housekeeping staff but the food and bar staff need retraining. Just as a suggestion there also needs to be clearer signage to entrance of hotel grounds as it was difficult to see particularly at night and could do with some tlc eg repaving and planting.
