Staff very helpful, bedroom comfortable, grouting in shower needs some work. Facilities good in the room. Breakfast very good and plenty on offer - toast machine was excellent. Surprised not to see fresh grapefruit and orange segments. Missed having a pot of tea at the table instead of a mug from a machine.

Room was comfortable if a little tatty. Websites mentioned room service but this did not seem to exist, returned late one night and unable to get any type of snack. Wifi extremely slow in the room. Breakfast good unless you ordered something not on the buffet, friends waited twenty minutes for scrambled eggs. Evening meal was a let down, carrot and squash soup was very watery when should have been nice and thick, tartar sauce also very thin and not thick and creamy, sticky toffee pudding was stale.

« A pleasant stay but things a little shabby and tired. »

Mostly staff were friendly, helpful and accommodating but I can understand some frustration as the whole hotel is desperately in need of major refurbishment.

Only thing good about this hotel is the location. Very shabby and outdated decor, needs significant investment to improve. Bathroom was covered in mould. Went to the bar for a drink where a member of staff had a cold and kept wiping his nose on his hand then serving customers and folding napkins. Would never use a Mercure again.

Top marks to all staff especially Gill Sam and Jordan. All very informative and helpful with any queries Only negatives relate to following Bedroom allocated after change ie 208 smell from bathroom at times meaning feeling quezy and feeling sick when using Bathroom. When reported your handyman was there but stench had disappeared but came back often During our stay. Breakfast. Although a great selection on offer Sometimes items very few on display. Not really acceptable as Restaurant not busy around 0900 to 0915. Solution being more attention from staff(female) on duty in restaurant at breakfast time. Everything in order when Jordan Sam and Simon on duty. Apart from the above points this was our 6th visit and stay at your hotel since 2017 and we really enjoyed our stay and it is even made more enjoyable due to the excellent caring staff as mentioned previously

Very pleasent break for a cricket dinner and presentation evening The food at the Dinner was good for my wife and myself (Salmon and Chicken) Sevice at the table good and helpful, as weren all the staff throughout our stay Breakfast was paticularlly enjoyable

Generally a nice stay over just feel the room needs a bit of money spending on it some damage to furniture and generally had a worn look, bathroom needs a complete refitt as silicone black in places
