We only staid one night but our room was cold and struggled to get shower to work. Bit old and tired . We did not eat so cannot comment. I was disappointed as it is a Mercure and not a cheaper hotel. Staff were good.

Room was fine and bed was very comfortable. Enjoyed a good undisturbed nights sleep. The room was a little short on tea and coffee and there were no biscuits. (Possibly because it was a compact room.) However, the breakfast was excellent: good choice, well cooked, well presented. All staff were pleasant, friendly and helpful. Overall a pleasant stay.

We booked a superior room. All 3 rooms we were shown were unsatisfactory due to the extremely poor condition of the bathrooms, all had mould and defects.

We did not enjoy our stay there at all. We will never go back to say there again. The only bright side to our stay was the receptionist, who was most apologetic about the condition of their ‘superior’ rooms. We also hired a conference room for the morning, this was of a satisfactory condition.

We were allocated room 220 , the standard of cleaning was extremely poor, the tea/coffee cups dirty with ring marks, floor not vacuumed, lighting shades dirty, one bed damaged and the bathroom was a in a disgusting shape, wc dirty , bath dirty and rust marks around mobility handles, sink the same also a used towel left on the back of the door. We would have walk out had it not been for Tracy the head of house keeping, she show us an improved room which was ok for one nigh but again could have been cleaner. The plus side of your hotel are the front of house staff who are trying their best in a very poor environment . If you wish to contact me with more information, please do so.

Awful, ground floor room with NO lock on the window, the receptionist refused to move me into another room as she has no space.. No heating, in Yorkshire? What a joke! Place is run down, disgusting and staff have little to no customer service skills. To say I was gutted to have found out I was staying at this dump AGAIN was an understatement. Seriously Mercure, this hotel is an utter pit! It is as good as a run down B&B! - Hideous!

I was very disappointed in the standard of the rooms and the state that you allow rooms to be allocated to guests. My room 137 was in a very poor state with the toilet seat actually hanging off , it was also quite obvious that it had been hanging off for some time! There were no net curtains in the room which was on the ground floor whic meant that I could either have people looking in the room or have the curtains shut even though it was light out . The light in the false ceiling wasn’t fitted and this meant you could see all the dust above and you could observe the dust falling in the bed. The shower curtain was disgraceful and the light in the bathroom had one bulb not working. I arrived to find one earl grey teabag only . My colleague was given a room and opened to door to find a young lady had already been allocated a room. In fact there were about 8 of us staying there and none of us had a good thing to say about the hotel. The breakfast was of poor quality although the meal in the evening was good. I booked this through Redfern and was there on business. I would think really seriously about using Mecure hotels in the future if this is the standard that you find acceptable for guests. I understand that you have a new housekeeping manager and he did allocate me some free drinks but he seemed totally overwhelmed himself about the poor state of the hotel and the number of complaints he had to deal with.

I stayed last Monday and Tuesday night. I actually developed a cold as my room was a ridiculous temperature. Radiator didn’t work, went to reception and got an “eye roll” from the lady. A man working then promised to bring a small heater to my room, I was happy with that so went back to my room. Much later, a young lady came around with another duvet... not quite what was promised. She even commented that my room was very cold. So I slept under 2 duvets, still freezing cold and to top it off, in the morning the shower water pressure was pathetic. Took about 5 minutes to heat up and then it became way too hot to bear. So half a shower later, I can honestly say that this was possibly the most uncomfortable hotel experience I have had. I’ll be avoiding the hotel moving forward unless there are no other options available. Please ensure that your central heating is working especially during Autumn/Winter months as this will seriously impact guests’ experiences in your hotel.

Room studio stayed here two years ago admittedly that was August but this time room cold no heating on water only warm hence bathroom cold a shelf near hairdryer broken did tell man who had to bring us some milk coffee etc as on both days these were not replenished also table at side of husbands bed not safe his drink slipped off again unstable and went on floor this was a great letdown studio 1012 breakfast ok but bacon well overdone as on burger for evening meal you advertise two nights bed and breakfast plus evening dinner to us we would have expected three courses but to have £22 only to spend was only giving us a burger or fish and chips lots of menu had cheese what about people who don’t like cheese would have expected more menu probably same as two years ago none of these meals cost effective only to hotel no wonder everyone going out to eat plus drinks way over the top question whether we will come again and we do so like wetherby

Three rooms were booked. Two of them Adapted. One of the adapted (203) needed the King Size bed - too large for the room - manually moving against one wall to give wheelchair access to the other side. The carer then had to climb over the bed to get into it. room 205 Adapted had a faulty shower which, when reported, your guest was told it was the sixth time it had been fixed. The occupant of room 204 mentioned that it seemed cold and was told by Reception that they had tried in vain to have beating turned on.

Over priced for a small room . Areas of hotel could do with a little tlc , corridors and bathrooms. Breakfast poor for price not hot and when challenged food came back from microwave ! Rather than cooked fresh so hot.

Room and stay were fine and quiet and our request for a bath rather than shower was met. Lovely hot water. Good location. plenty of parking. Only issue was our kettle had melted prior to our stay but hadn't been noticed before we tried to use it.

ok, but disappointed with some points and felt a bit deflated after my last visit. Manger helpful ( slim lady with dark hair) and deals with issues effectively. Bar staff a little confusing, say one thing included one night and the next night the same person says it is not. Difficult to say really how a feel about the experience.
