Check in wasn't very good. The lady didn't tell us any information about the hotel or stay. We had to ask other staff where things were and what our stay included. The bar staff was fantastic. We was very disappointed that we have to eat our evening meal in the bar area not in a restaurant. There was a very loud party on till 1:20am this was disgraceful i didn't get to sleep till 1:45am. the spa wasn't very good. Jacuzzi splashed in our faces so we couldn't relax and on the other side of the pool we had a screaming swimming teacher tell the kids how to swim. The steam room and sauna was slimy. Not very clean. We had a massage that was brilliant.

claiming to be pet friendly we had our breakfast in the reception area full of people checking out loud co;d as doors constantly open no table laid no cutlery and no need to be treated in such a manner before you enter the breakfast area there is a perfectly good room with tables and chairs which could easily be utilised

Booking was horrendous, booked a superior twin room, phoned up again the day before I arrived to be told that it was all booked by a guy who didn’t understand what day it was. When I arrived the room was wrong so was swapped to a standard twin which couldn’t fit a mouse in it. Had to wait to change rooms. New room was better but like a prison cell. Not worth the money at all

Apart from a fire alarm at 0335hrs on Saturday morning, the hotel provided a good resting place for my family to use whilst visiting the northern branch. Facilities are good and food is excellent. The car park is large enough for guests and a wedding so there is always space. Overall we were satisfied.

Good evening Sadly I wont be wishing to return. The room was lovely and the bed was comfortable but that's where the positives stop. We ordered room service of a margarita which arrived completely opposite of the description and clearly frozen without a rocket leaf in sight. Then at 3am we were woken by a fire alarm, clearly no fault of anyone's so we quickly evacuated and waited at the fire assembly point for over half an hour, nobody from the hotel appeared whatsoever, we then decided to cautiously approach the hotel, upon visiting the reception the lady laughed and said it was a false alarm. Well after freezing and waiting I do not find it funny. Upon leaving in the morning to raise our concerns the manager said she knew nothing about it. We are utterly appalled that such a massive health and safety procedure to such a large hotel had no protocol, false alarm or not there should have been proper regulations followed. I do hope this is addressed as soon as possible as this could end in a total tragedy and loss of lives. Regards

The hotel has all the facilities required but its in serious need of a refurbishment. Additionally, the main bar does not have enough capacity and I couldn't get anywhere to sit and eat so I went elsewhere. Its layout is poor and many more people could fit in if it was laid out better. The main restaurant was not open for some reason. Staff were friendly and efficient and the breakfast was good.

Excellent greeting from receptionist Standard double had four poster bed Everywhere was clean and well maintained I would have given a 10 but although my egg at breakfast was cooked to order, I am not a fan of buffet style breakfast as the bacon & black pudding was dried out.

Okay stay - staff v friendly and helpful Breakfast wasn’t great - looked as though it had been cooked hours ago Had to remove a bulb in room as it kept flickering on and off.

We had a lovely time. Room was nice and clean. Shower was nice and hot. Dinner was lovely. The breakfast was okay... There were several points where food wasn't available (eggs) and it was a bit expensive for what you got, but we did like how late it went on until.

Lovely friendly person at reception. Room itself was showing its age. Torn carpet, raised carpet, torn duvet cover, extraction fan in bathroom not working made a high pitched noise instead. Lights falling if wall in room. Room itself was dusty, silicone in bathroom had lots of black mold.

No problems but an observation that staff could not maintain supply for demand at breakfast. When asked to replenish bread, pastries, hot water and other items this was done but the breakfast experience was very disorganized.

Extremely noisy room and awful mattress

I had a dreadful room with a window overlooking a very noisy wedding disco. I had to open the window as tge heeting was so high in the room. I also had a mattress with springs that dug into my hips and was so bouncy I had to hold on to stop rolling off.

Disappointed with overall experience

While the breakfast was OK, we and other guests had to point our that some of the food options and cutlery had run out. The bed was comfortable enough and staff were pleasant, but there were lots of shortcomings. The room itself was cramped, with the wardrobe doors obstructing both the bathroom and room doors when open, not least because they didn't fold back all the way (sliding doors would have improved this). The shower didn't always work and the bathroom itself was very dated and would definitely have benefited from refreshing the decor as a minimum (part of the wall was patched up poorly). Lighting was poor, especially when preparing for a wedding. There was no safe in the room. One of the two sockets next to the TV was broken. Overall we expected far better from a Mercure hotel, at the prices charged! The next page does not cover these problems. We booked the hotel as it offered a reduction for one night for wedding guests.
