« Comfortable and clean, but not value for money and needs an update »

I stayed in a privilege room, hoping to have a better stay and experience. Although the room was spacious and clean and the staff were very friendly, the facilities were not up to the price point of the room (£150). The sofa is worn out and needs to be replaced, the desk had no lamp for working, the bed was OK in terms of comfort, the bathroom is very small and shower not great for an upgraded room. I think I was literally paying for the extra square footage. There's no wardrobe just a hanging rail by the door. Comfortable for one night stay but I would have been disappointed if I'd stayed longer. I ordered room service which was disappointing. Although the food was edible, the pasta was delivered warm/cool and with no cover on the tray. The wine wasn't very nice

« Exceeded expectations »

Friendly welcoming staff, clean bed, nice shower, easy access for my wife's wheelchair (room 312). Good location for shops and restaurants. We had theatre tickets for De Montfort which was within walking distance - another plus! A little noisy late at night with late night/early morning revellers and traffic but not a major inconvenience. Would definitely stay here again

« good room with facilities along with a late night bar that we used. »

Greeted very well at reception on our arrival . The room was ideal and had everything we needed. Service was great and we made full use of the late night bar which added to our stay in Leicester. We have stayed with you before and will stay at your hotel again.

« A nice hotel, good location. »

A pleasant stay. The room was very nice, although perhaps a bath in the room would've been nice. Breakfast - I was disappointed with the lack of 'continental european options' (such as cheese/ham etc as I've grown to expect in other accor group hotels).

« Great hotel in very central location »

Had a wonderful 1 night stay at this hotel, was upgraded to a Premier room thanks to my Le Club membership. This room was huge with a lovely curved window taking up most of one of the walls. The bathroom was however out of date and not particularly nice. Breakfast was a basic selection, nothing to write home about. The main selling point of this hotel is the location, right in the centre of the city with easy access to the shops and other amenities.

I was welcomed nicely & when I mentioned i'd like a room away from the elevator, the chap sorted it out. The room was a nice size & had the amenities needed. The only disappointment was the bathroom was cold. The reason for that was the old windows didn't close properly. Certainly need updating.

« Dissapointing »

Due to an issue with the heating in my room (the radiator control had come off the radiator completely prior to my arrival, and as a result the heating was stuck on full), I had to move room a total of 4 times during my 2 night stay. On the first night I had to stay in a single room, having booked a double, as the unhelpful night manager could not find me a double room that had a bath/shower (the first 2 rooms I was moved to were accessible rooms). In the end he resorted to assigning multiple entry cards to rooms and was looking in each room in trial and error to find one that was acceptable. It was after 1am when I finally managed to settle in the new room. Not ideal when I was traveling on business. My second night I was in the correct room which was much better. I ordered room service that night which took 45 minutes to arrive. On arrival a glass of wine had been missed off my order. I had to go downstairs to the bar to retrieve this. Luckily Sareh (sp) was on the bar and she was extremely friendly and helpful and sorted it quickly. Overall, not a disastrous experience, but I expected a lot more from a Mercure hotel.

« Very pleasant stay. »

We called in at short notice to enquire about a room. The young man who spoke to us was extremely pleasant and helpful. This was on Sunday 25 March. The hotel we had booked with, through no fault of their own, had been unable to accommodate us in their city centre premises. We needed to be in the city centre due to an early morning appointment the following day. Our room at the Mercure was clean, quiet and comfortable. We couldn’t have asked for more. All the staff were very friendly and helpful, bu in particular the young man on the desk. So annoyed we can’t Romberg his name!

« Overpriced »

Cold in the room - window left open, did not warm up till the early morning then too hot. Could not make use of lift as it was being used to set up for a wedding. £100 for a dated room with no view very disappointing.

« Beetle in Bed and staff uninterested, no apologies »

Ww have three autistic children and this was the first time away as a couple in years but: We found a beetle crawling in the bed, it was under the pillow. we rang reception and spoke to a man whose reply was 'oh'. We had to ask for bedding to be changed and we advised we had photographed and video'd it. The beetle was actually one that feeds off wool and materials like that. Upon a search for it it shows that there is larvae usually if the beetle is present. we didn't sleep well at all with this fact in our mind. I also ended up with a red mark on my arm. We took the photos down to the man on reception (whom we had spoken to) and he replied "oh right". no apology or concern whatsoever. I have rang and made a complaint and will hold my trip advisor review pending this.

Very nice hotel in every way, close to everything, train station, shops, the only downside was that the elevator only go to the 4th floor and our room was in the 5th floor, I have a bad knee and it was painful get up and down the stairs.
