I was only there from late evening to early morning. The experience was relaxing.

« Pleasant with some problems »

Hi James, Thanks for your message. I'd just like to take a moment to share a few problems that I encountered during my stay. Last weekend the Leicester Marathon was on. Something I was un-aware of when I arrived. When I checked in there was no curtesy mention that this was taking place and that you were in the middle of the circuit. When I found out that this was the case the receptionist had no idea there was anything was happening. There was a question of if we were able to leave during the marathon. No-one seemed to know. After some researching myself, I discovered we might be blocked in for sometime, later in the evening I asked another receptionist if this was the case. The receptionist (although aware it was happening) had no information and said I should chance trying to get out. We ended up getting up at 7.30 and moving the car. With such a big event happening. It would have been good to have some information. I'd also like to point out, at breakfast the next morning. I was aware that breakfast ran until 10.30. I arrived at 10.10 and there was the remnants of what I suppose was breakfast. Most pots were empty. When I asked if there was a chance of getting anything I was told I was too late. I feel that when spending approx 11 pounds each on a breakfast to arrive 20 mins before the end and be told I am too late is just not on. Finally. I would like to mention that the bar staff were extremely attentive; we had a drink before we left for our party. Very warm and welcoming. Adam (I believe his name was, and his co-worker who unfortunately I missed their name) are an asset to your hotel and great at what they do. I feel that it is necessary to share these thoughts with you as it wasn't an excellent experience. Many thanks Andrew b..

« Central but old hotel. The room was not at its cleanest. »

The only thing I enjoyed was that the hotel was central. Other than that, I would not rate this hotel a 4 star hotel

« The worst ever experience »

We stayed at this property when visiting our son who study there. After three request were made for an adapter, then we were told that it was not available. Very disappointed with the way the lady staff treated us. Never expect this service from MERCURE brand.

Dear James8277, Thank you for your feedback. I'm disappointed to know that we fell short of our usually high standards of service, please accept my sincere apologies. We take guest feedback very seriously and it also gives us a chance to further improve our services and avoid any future occurrence. Once again, I would like to thank you for your feedback. Kind Regards

« up to normal standard »

We stay here often, and usually are very well looked after.. This time was no different, a friendly welcome at reception. The only real down point is the carpark. The spaces are very tight and the carpark usually very busy. On a selfish note it is disappointing that unlike most mercures we visit we are rarely offered an upgrade our membership entitles to.

Dear 188mrg, Thank you for your feedback. I am glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us. Our car park is open for public hence we are always busy. Room upgrades are subject to availability and being in the city centre, hotel gets full quite quickly. Please email me your reservation details on op.mercureleicester@jupiterhotels.co.uk before your next stay and I will make the necessary arrangements. Once again, I would like to thank you for your feedback and hope to welcome you back soon! Kind Regards

Our stay at the Mercure was regrettably an unhappy one. Leave aside the unexpected fire alarms at circa. 6am and repeated mid morning continuously, the standard of the facilities in the room were far from expected and fell below par. I suggest you start with a complete overhaul of the iron and ironing boards in the rooms.. to say they were unusable is an understatement. Next my wife and female colleagues also staying at the hotel were unanimous in their collective complaint as to the poor lighting in the rooms. Finally the sharpness at which our frustration in respect of the fire alarm fiasco was dealt with by reception staff on check out left an altogether some taste. It feels all the more upsetting because at least seven of the rooms that evening were booked by members of my chambers who all followed my lead/recommendation in doing so for purposes of an event at Athena that evening. Most disappointed.

« Very helpful staff »

I arranged a senior management team away event. Tia helped with this prior to the event and Mia helped over the 2 days. There was a mix up with the evening meal order but Tia managed to help get this sorted and was able to get us extra options and extra time to get the orders back from staff. Mia was very helpful on the 2 days as soon as I contacted the reception she came to the conference room right away and sorted any issues. I got good feedback about the lunches on both days - only negative was that nothing was labelled. I would definitely stay here again for another team away event.

« Ok nothing outstanding »

check in was fast and efficient reception bar area and dinning room all refurbished, and look good, however the room I stayed in was very small no place to store my luggage, bathroom shower curtain smelt musty, no view apart from a brick wall, no biscuit with the coffee tray.

« Staff were great and the room comfortable »

The Receptionist was welcoming and made the checking in process quick but left me leaving with all I needed to know. The room was clean, tidy and well stocked with a range of hot drinks, I look forward to my next visit,

« Hotel has seen better days. Tired. »

Tired and dated room, very odd and dated bathroom. No mixer tap, no mirror above the basin, very dated decor. Felt like my grandmother's house

« Slightly disappointed but booked for location. Would recommend/stay again but not the Superior Suite »

Booked a superior room. Was disappointed that the bathroom was so small with only a shower and no bath. The reason for this is that they chose the smallest space for the bathroom! There was a large sitting room, which in my opinion should have been the bathroom. Bedroom and dressing area perfectly adequate in size and very clean. The windows were filthy and had obviously not been cleaned for a long time.

« A great reception area but dissapointed with the rest of the hotel »

My room was opposite the lift and adjacent to the staircase so it was noisy all through the night meaning a bad nights rest. My room was very small with a mattress that was too firm. The "fitness suite" was very poor and disappointing. 2 of the machines weren't even working even after following the instruction on the wall. I highly recommend a treadmill is installed in place of one of the other machines. I was greeted with a very warm welcome upon checking in however when I checked out I was asked for my room number and then I was stood there for a couple of minutes where I was completely ignored until the lady finally said "all done". I used this hotel through my employer as I had a busy day the day of departure and this stay left me feeling frustrated and anything but relaxed and refreshed.

« Stay for a 60th birthday »

The arrival and check in were excellent with friendly and welcoming staff. I was upgraded to a Privilege Room on arrival which was a pleasant surprise. The room was on the front of the hotel, which I did not realise at the time would be as noisy as it was. My stay was on a Saturday night which meant that the city was extremely noisy until well into the early hours of the morning. The room was hot and stuff even though it was October, but I could not open the windows as it was too noisy. If I stayed here again I would request a quieter area of the hotel. The breakfast in the morning was excellent and freshly cooked.

Staff were excellent in particular Anna and Jose in Marcos and also a big mention to the barman from Belfast. Food and drink excellent but found room decor not up to standard. Bed was very comfortable.

« Adequate stay overall »

The interior of the hotel is well decorated and plush however the service does not match. Breakfast was just ok and the rooms are far too hot in the middle of the night despite opening windows. Bathrooms are dated but standard double bedroom was nice. Basic extras though such as no fridge and minimal tea and coffee etc. Terrible view from window onto derelict buildings with broken windows. Overall considering the above would stay again if cheaper but not really worth the price for some fancy decorating.
