I was put in a room next to a christmas party, the kitchen and plate clearing was extremely loud then the party its self was very loud. I was told it would finish at midnight but was then told it finished at 1am. The room was fine really just shabby and for a Grand Hotel not a true reflection on the name. The water never really got hot and the towels are years old. I ordered room service and got possibly the worst meal i have eaten in a long time. It was all freezing cold (nothing was covered with metal lids, only the cold dessert i ordered) The food was not fresh and was almost enabled. Breakfast was good. The staff were great and very helpful. i did have my meal removed from the bill. Overall not worth the money. I h=would have had a better experience in the premier inn with a meal from weatherspoons

« Good but noisy »

Everything was good except the huge amount of noise from the Christmas party below us. You need to invest in some better soundproofing. Also I had about 5 different keys during my 2 day stay - your keys need better protection from mobile phones so that they work after being in a handbag.

First our booking couldn’t be found- took a good 20 mins plus to sort. Rooms very warm. Service of hot drinks at breakfast very very slow.

« Absolutely appalling; the worst hotel experience ever »

My 1 night at The Mercure was perhaps the worst hotel stay I’ve ever experienced. The room was stiflingly hot, to the point that it was unbearable. I opened the windows to try to provide some air flow but it really didn’t help since the windows barely opened. What little air that did enter the room was polluted from car and other fumes. But the worst issue was the noise! It sounded as if there was a night club directly outside my window (I was on the third floor at the front side of the hotel). The heavy base music and screaming/drunk people in the street below kept me awake until 4am, at which point things quietened down but the room was still too hot to sleep comfortably. Even with the windows and secondary glazing closed the noise was awful. I was shocked that an expensive 4 star hotel didn’t have air conditioning and better sound insulation.

I made the booking on the 4th October for a stay on the 5th December. When I checked in there was no record of my booking , despite having written confirmation of the booking. I was advised the hotel was fully booked and then offered a basic single room. When I told the reception manager I had already paid for a privilege room she begrudgingly offered to refund the difference. She then found a privilege room. The reception manager kept asking me who I spoke to when I booked the room despite having written booking confirmation.

Noise from corridor kept me awake as could hear everyone passing, I was working early each day so unfortunately did not try breakfast. Overall the hotel is a nice place to stay, I am back this Thursday so hopefully I will get a quieter room

« A very nice upmarket hotel in perfect location for what we wanted »

The hotel catered to our needs perfectly. The rooms were quiet and clean which meant for a good nights sleep. We were walking distance from the ASthena Theatre which is where we were attending so saved on any potential taxi fares. Room was spacious with all amenities that you would expect available. Would defo attend again

The staff were very accommodating as I had not booked ahead, but they still found a room for a reasonable rate. The room itself was clean, spacious and had all the amenities you need. The location of the hotel is fantastic, as I was right in the heart of Leicester. The only thing I can't tell you about is the restaurant there, but I'm sure it is like the rest of the hotel and perfectly pleasant.

Very nice welcome from reception. Room service extremely prompt. All staff very very polite and attentive. Breakfast very good. Only downside was the privilege room. Room very tired , large coffee stain on carpet and level of cleanliness was below my expectation.

« In general a good Hotel that offers what I expected »

The service is in general fine, but I am dissapointed that we at 11am couldnt get the type of tea that we wanted from the bar - our 2 first choises were not available. Breatfast fairly simple - no cheese

As written on TripAdvisor; Visited on the 28th of November, the first of three visits over the next two weeks, check in as quick as ever, privilege room 323 allocated as requested, tucked away in a quiet corner, room to its normal standard, as we choose the room regular our expectations are only that it is cleaned to a good standard. Parking spaces where limited and tight on this visit, unfortunately on this occasion I received a nice dent in my drivers door for the pleasure of parking here, as we will be back on the 7th and 13th of December I will wait to get this repaired after our next two visits. Overall, a decent visit, service and accommodation as expected, on this occasion not charge for the parking so I can use the £8 saved to have the dent repaired.
