The hotel is good, the staff very friendly, the breakfast was great. The shower was poor, dar too low. The receptionist should have noticed my hight 194cm at check-in, and given me a room with a better shower. There were too many beggars in Granby Street. It felt uncomfortable walking outside the hotel

Decor in reception lovely. Rooms dated . Restaurant poor. Marco Pierre White photos everywhere raising expections. Standard of food very poor. Low level gastro pub.standard, yet price high. Breakfast however very good along with service. Like staying in 2 different hotels.

A few cobwebs around the windows and radiators the last two times I have stayed. I appreciate you have very old windows but inside shouldn't have cobwebs!

The room is too small and all the hardware is too old At the bar, I have been told to ask for the bill at the counter when I finish my beer

I paid upfront for the room! Was told at check in room service can be paid check out I ordered room service and the restaurant did ask charge to room when food arrived they demanded cash ? Why ? I also ask for bucket of ice I got a pint glass and was charged £4 for what ?! That’s dis-respectful !

It was a bed for the night. It was clean but a bit tatty. The breakfast was very poor; cold and lacking flavour. Pricing was strange. Bizarrely, it was cheaper to book online but online breakfast was more expensive. Why can’t pricing be clearer and fairer.

Not the worst but for 4* I was expecting higher standards. The positives: affordable parking, very friendly staff, fantastic location, good size room, iron available, the hair dryer was broken and was replaced immediately. The not so great: no air-con!! Too hot in the afternoon, chilly in the night. Heating is on centrally so can’t do anything. Breakfast very limited. Not very clean, stains on the carpet, chair, wall, bathroom door, dirty windows and curtains. Bedding was fine. I stayed for 4 nights and the cleaning wasn’t great: rubbish bag next to the bin wasn’t picked up twice, the cleaning consists of making the bed and replacing toiletries and coffee. Staying there again as It’s already booked through work and the location is perfect but wouldn’t choose it myself.

My stay was good as usual. There was a lot of noise from the party that night but not a major concern. My request would be to please start providing free range eggs at breakfast. Also the vegetarian sausages are not breakfast sausages. They are sausages of vegetables - more suited to evening meal type.

Room was spacious and clean, design was dated. No plugs next to the bed, no liquid antibacterial hand cleanser (bar soaps are not hygenic). Breakfast was good, staff was very attentive.

The decor downstairs was remnant to past high class clientele, with a modern twist. While sitting in the lounge you can imagine the history and splendour of times gone by. My only concern was a little more attention to detail in the rooms by the cleaning staff and maintenance. There was dust round the lamps, and a large chunk out of the bath panel which was sharp, and ceiling tiles were grubby. But I was made to feel welcome and when I rang for assistance with lights, someone was there within 5 minutes to fix it.
