« Lovely weekend retreat. »

We had a lovely weekend break. Upon arrival was greeted by the really friendly and helpful receptionist. Sorry can’t remember her name, she is from Lithuania. All of the staff were lovely but she just stood out. Very good value for money, we had a 2 night break with breakfast and 1 evening meal and a lovely bottle of Prosecco. Well worth the money. We stayed here about 6 years ago which was nice, so we were really impressed with the new and improved decor and general overall feel of the hotel. We would recommend this hotel to all friend and family that are looking for a nice quiet break that is really good value for money.

« Lovely food, friendly and efficient staff and pleasant room. »

Very enjoyable overall, great location. Really enjoyed gourmet meal with a nice selection of wines. Pity about chaotic breakfast on Saturday when there was a staff problem.

« Love this hotel »

The staff here are just so friendly, will try to sort any problem you have with a smile. I forgot my phone charger and he chap at reception went through the lost property and found one, if I have one or two tiny criticisms empty serving dishes at breakfast and now I really am nit picking in the restaurant nice uniforms spoilt by jeans and trainers, neither reason would stop me visiting again.

« A quirky hotel in lovely grounds »

This was the second time I have stayed. Sadly being winter the grounds were just for looking not for wandering. The room was very comfortable and quiet. We are in the restaurant and had an e celebrate meal. Staff were friendly and welcoming and the breakfast was good. The only issue with the hotel which need highlighting for others is the lack of a lift. It was no problem for us but could impact on people with reduced mobility. I will use again.

« Nice enough, but a few small areas lacking »

Nice enough hotel, with clean facilities but some areas need an update. Beds are rock solid, Mrs liked it, I could sleep. Showers are weak as anything. Breakfasts are good. Evening room service is expensive for what it is. Go to a nice pub 5 minutes drive or 15 minute walk for better quality for less money. Great location and nice grounds

« Great room and nice staff »

Great decor in the hotel and the staff were particularly nice , However the food was very under whelming and I had to send my started back the pigeon breast was like leather and in edible . The second attempt was still not good although out of respect for the poor pigeon I ate it , The main course of Pork Belly was truly horrible .m Just one big lump of fat . The menu sounded fantastic but sounded better than it tasted .

« Very pleased »

Compared to other Mercures this was a very pleasing stay. My only gripe was that service at breakfast on the second morning was very slow.

« A pleasant if slightly noisy Stay »

I had a fairly pleasant experience with you. The room was nice and clean and the bed was comfy, I was traveling for work so am only really in the room in the evening to sleep, so that is the main thing for me. The room was however noisy - not the room as such but there seemed to be a lot of buzzing and mechanical type noises that I could hear through out the night, this did make it hard for me to fall asleep. The restaurant was OK, I would have preferred a wider selection of food. Sometimes it was a struggle to fins somewhere to park within the grounds of the hotel.

« Romantic Gataway »

We had a lovely stay at Bowden Hall. We really enjoyed the meals in the restaurant. All food was of good quality and well cooked. The staff in the restaurant were attentive and helpful. We upgraded to a privilege room, which was very spacious and clean. The only problems were the noise when another room ran a bath, and the pipes were very noisy when the radiator was turned up, also the supply of milk and sugar was quite stingy, considering the room had a coffee machine. These were only small annoyances and we still had a lovely time and would definitely visit again

« Great venue, terrible food! »

The overall experience was very good. the only thing that really let things down for me was the quality of the food. I ordered a burger with a brioche bun! it didn't have a brioche bun it was just a standard bun which i normally wouldn't mind but i only ordered it because of the brioche bun. my colleague ordered the pork belly and in his own words (when attempting to eat the crackling) i don't know if i am eating crackling or my own teeth! I had a tiramisu for dessert and i was speechless............ grey wet and tasteless sponge with enough grey liquid in the glass that i could have filled my water glass. breakfast in the morning was old stale and tasteless too! pastries tasted old and the bacon looked like it had been hot held for hours and hours! all in all the food was hideous. such a shame as the venue was superb otherwise!
