« It was ok »

Our bedroom faced the entrance to the hotel which was close to the outdoor smoking area. Due to the hot weather our windows were open. During our stay the hotel was busy people were coming back late so it was very noisy also people were smoking late at night and early in the morning.

Very disappointed with the Hotel. The room facilities were poor. I would expect a safe, fridge & complimentary water in room but none of these facilities were provided. The room was dark, very basic, & dated. The bathroom needs replacing. The breakfast was not value for money. The English Breakfast was cold & the other selection looked unappetising. The Hotel itself needs updating. The corridor carpets are stained. There is a musty smell in the bar area. The Hotel is depressing. We will not be staying again.

Everything OK apart from booking service. The process over the telephone 08… was far to slow particularly when I am being charged for it! It took two calls lasting a total of 20mins 40secs. This would put me off booking with Mercury again.

The staff were excellent and very helpfull. The hotel itself is well used and looking tired and so needs some TLC

I think being a retired builder all of the door cloushers should be adjusted so the doors shut quieter and not slam at 5am every morning , also we think the bar was to exspensive

hotel ok but other guests should consider others who were trying to sleep at 3.30 am. Excessive noise in the smokers area. I phoned reception who told me there had been a gypsy weddding and I did point out that we were guests of the hotel who were trying to sleep.

We struggled to find this Mercure Hotel, our SatNav did not recognise the address. It was very noisy with constant sirens sounding on the main road close to the Hotel. The Staff did not seem inspired or really interested. The breakfast was average as well.

Hotel Not 4 star, 3 would be better description. You wait at bar when no staff seem to show. The more experience staff there seem to be lacking with Mercure. Room needed and thankfully had A/C much credit when weether was almost in the 30C. Thankful of reservation request was assisted. Best to al Staff for their endeavors

Room and leisure facilities as expected. However breakfast disappointing since notice given at time of booking and upon arrival regarding dairy allergy was not met and as a result some of our party were unable to have coffee or cereal at breakfast (neither were meat eaters due to coeliac/IBS). Considering that this was our 3rd stay at the hotel in the last two years and on both previous occasions our dietary needs had been fully met, this was disappointing

« Nice interior and comfortable. Terrible food. »

The hotel is not in the best location (industrial site) and grom the road looked pretty grim. We were relieved when we were inside. The decor was nice. The rooms were spacious and very comfortable. The restaurant was empty and for good reason. The food was really bad. Lucky there is an Asda over the road where we could buy some food.

The visit facilities were fine the 2 day package with dinner up to £22 on the first night can be confusing even for the staff when you ask them to explain, our bill was altered from what we expected when we came to settle our account whilst that is ok and no doubt is correct it can be confusing On a really positive side speaking to Emma in the restaurant about what we were doing and places to go to she listened and made a recommendation which we followed we had the most amazing day which without her input we would probably not have gone to so a big thank you to Emma, we did seek her out on our return to the hotel to thank her but well done

Room doors are heavy and strongly spring loaded to ensure closure but as a result slam rather noisily. In th early part of the night we were disturbed several times by late returning guests and resultant slamming doors. Rather surprised not to find in room safe, a fairly standard item these days. One welcome gift did not materialize until we requested it and turned out be a drink. Otherwise the hotel was comfortable with a good buffet breakfast and our twin room a reasonable size.

While staying at the hotel for work purposes on the 10th of June we had been at work for 15 hours only to come back to the hotel to find out that there was no hot water throughout the hotel I find this hard to accept a hotel that is supposed to be a 4 star that they cannot get this repaired quicker than they did also there was no television stations for one night but the girls on reception did there best to try and explain to customers what the problem was. One of my work colleagues ordered his evening meal and when it arrived he sent part of his meal back to get heated up by the time he had his dessert the main course item had still not come back to him.
