disappointing long waits to check in and again to get door card sorted out when it wouldn't work on second day, reception seems to be undermanned when busy.

Overall, the staff were welcoming, courteous, smiling and made one felt welcomed and catered for my every need. I have been watching this TV programme "four in a bed" for years and although I did not go digging I was pleased and satisfied with what I saw at face value. The breakfast/dinner well prepared. I know staff are at hand but the area where the plates are for breakfast could be labelled and an indication to say they are hot. Good spread of choices for both dinner and breakfast in my opinion.

The check in and check out is always very slow, peak times of 5.30 onwards and 8am check out there is only one person on desk.

« Ok.. poor location, dated hotel. »

Poor location... not Tunbridge Wells at all, technically false advertising as the hotel is actually in Pembury. Rooms exceptionally dated as is the hotel in general. Broken window catch and apparently no other rooms available. Dingy and dark room decor.

Everything was great apart from service in the restaurant on the first night which is fine as it was pretty busy.we asked for the as singers contact number and the staff said they will let us know and call to our room but never did. Food was great and breakfast service .the room was nice and clean but the draw randomly flings open so I definitely think the place is haunted especially seeing reviews for other hotels near by about their ghost experience. The whole stay was great apart from that. The receptionist dealt with us amazingly Rubina

Check in was busy and there was only one person keeping up with the process. Despite that she was friendly and quick. The check out was similarly busy. My bill did not show itemisation for dinner, which I didn't realise until afterwards. The dinner order was taken by a trainee who was very friendly and tried to ensure we were well attended to. We did order a drink at the end that didn't arrive but this wasn't an issue (so long as it wasn't billed but as above this wasn't clear) so did not affect our experience. Overall the staff made every effort at all times to help.

As my husband was on Army leave I wanted to treat us to a mini break to relax, this was also a surprise for him. Everything was straight forward from booking to arriving. The staff were friendly the room was very comfortable and the spa was relaxing, although the jacuzzi is no longer there?

« Rooms and Bedrooms need updating but clean and Staff professional. »

The Reception was decorated with Christmas decorations which looked lovely. Reception staff were ok we were directed to suite 400 which we eventually found I think the signs need a bit of updating. room was a good size a bit warm and we were unable to control the heat I don't think the temperature control worked. we were booked into the New Year Gala dinner and Dance..The food was good service good staff on site were very good. Everything was a good standard I would just say carpets needed an update. Singer on the evening was very good and had everyone up on the dance floor. Overall including the breakfast it was a lovely evening. Thank you

« Great value and amazing get away »

Wanted a child free night away... apart from the screaming kids at the pool (not the actual hotels fault), the rest of the stay was amazing! Great food and lovely staff (Ernest and French waiter in particular!). We hope to return again soon!

Accommodation and general appearance of common areas very dated. Rooms need updating to modern standards especially bathroom. Bar area and restaurant again old fashioned. Dining room very cold for dinner but can’t fault the food or service.

« Comfortable, practical and convenient »

Practical as we had our dog with us and it worked really well. Comfortable as you have all the amenities. Convenient as we were visiting friends in the area. Only things were cobwebs in the room let you down a bit and one of the towel rails in one room was not working. It would be ideal if you check the room before arrival and put the heating on as it makes for a much more comfortable experience.

As always the staff are your biggest strength. They are helpful, friendly and accommodating. However, the room itself was ‘tired’. Whilst cleanliness wasn’t an issue, the fit out was drab and uninviting. I stayed at the Mercure in Cherbourg last year - what a difference!

Went for New Years Eve Gala. Thought the price was very good. Stayed 2 nights. Staff were very good & attentive. The 6 people I were with also went last year. Would go again.
