« Spa weekend. »

A group of 6 of us stayed as part of a wowcher offer for a spa weekend. Overall our stay was very enjoyable & staff extremely friendly & helpful. We had one issue which was with the spa treatments, Kaya beauty treatments. Three of our group had booked treatments & one other had tried but was told no appointments available. When we arrived we decided to confirm the appointments with the salon as she hadn't filled us with confidence when booking these. When we spoke to her, she had double booked two of our group for 1pm. She did apologise when she realised it was her mistake & offered one of us a later appointment at 3pm which we took. She also had another appointment at that time & another of our group took that slot too. In total we had one Indian head massage, one back massage & two facials booked. Unfortunately with the head massage There wasn't much massaging of the scalp involved & I was told by my friend who had had treatments before that she didn't feel like she had received a massage. Unfortunately my two friends who received facials were very unimpressed. One friend stop the treatment 20 minutes into the 1 hour session, telling the lady she was unhappy with the service received & she agreed to stop & no payment taken. My other friend went through with the hour session however did complain to reception when we check out. She described it as a 'functional facial' with all gels & creams being applied however there was no massage involved, She did not dim the lights, & overall she did not enjoy the experience. I received the back massage. The room was very small with lots crammed in it but overall the massage was enjoyable for me. Our experience of the hotel for great. The reception & bar staff was extremely helpful & friendly. The food was extremely good. Overall we had a great time. We were aware we had a great offer & made the most of the services.

From the minute we arrived the staff were amazing and made us welcome. We joined in the entertainment and used the spa facilities. WE had a lovely meal in the restaurant and the food was great ..definitely a return visit. The girl on reception was so good..

Very friendly and help full staff. Superb breakfast and bar service, Room was very comfortable with excellent in room tea and coffee, good TV services, and very comfortable bed. A very good overnight stay experience. Would have no hesitation to recommend this Hotel to anyone.

Clean, but dated. Could do with a lick of paint and a make over. Dinner was dry, overcooked chicken. Staff very keen to please though. Swimming pool had huge lump out of the tiles underfoot, which could be potentially dangerous. Kaya’s beauty studio were rude to deal with beforehand, so didn’t end up using their services. Ok for a cheap overnight stay. You get what you pay for!

« We were treated more like we were a nuisance than guests. »

We had a Virgin experience gift voucher and I believe this made a difference. I met with an unhelpful and poor attitude in trying to book a room (more like it was being given to us for free)! I phoned the day before to book a slot for dinner in the restaurant and was told it wasn't necessary I could have any time I wanted, but on arrival our preferred time of 7.00 not available and we were told 6.00 or 9.00 chose 6.00 to find when arriving at the restaurant it didn't open until 6.30! Then there were plenty of free tables at 7.00pm and until we left at 8.00pm. However the restaurant staff were polite and courteous and food was certainly of an acceptable standard. Also on check in, the receptionist said "I will give you a better room, the one you have is not nice", again was this because we had a Virgin gift card - the room was ok but not great, the furnishings and fittings tired looking with flaking of finish on door handles etc. I would not choose to stay again.

Overall service is ok, food was disappointed compare to other mercure hotel I've been visited. My husband ordered burger, still dripping blood out of the burger, he wasn't asked how would he like the burger to be done, then waited for long time for the kitchen to to-do his meal!! I ordered pasta but tasted like cheap cooked plain pasta with a jar of tomatoes sauce. I don't think it worths the value of £22 As a member of Accorhotel, I have been to other mercury hotels before, this time was quite disappointed.
