« The Best and most consistent hotel I have stayed in »

The Pullman never ceases to surprise and excel. I have stayed there many times this year and the service is exemplary, from the very efficient valet parking through to checkout. If the odd minor thing goes wrong it is always fixed promptly and generally nothing is too much trouble for the Pullman, Auckland. I have stayed in hotels all over the world, and the Pullman Auckland really does stand out as being the best and most consistent-all of this at very reasonable tariffs. Well done Pullman Auckland

the staff were awesome, just a couple of minor issues, we were given our room(around 3.00pm), but when we turned up the room was still being cleaned so had to wait in the foyer for half an hour, the elevator didn't work, Tv reception was terrible and no tv guide. the add said a bathe and shower but was really a shub.really only minor issues, as mentioned staff were fantastic, special mention to the barstaff and the concierge. the lounge area was great, and the pool and gym were well maintained

Staying at your hotel is great. Its in an excellent location, the staff are very professional and they go out of their way to make you stay easy. The room upgrade was very nice and the valet parking is a great, cost effective service.

The only issue I had was when I arrived the reception said they would change my room from a double to king size bed. Whilst I was OK with the room I was given, the next morning I packed my bags with the expectation I was to be moved whilst I was away the following day. When I came back there was no record of this conversation and I was not moved.

Loved the late checkout of 11am, just meant we didn't need to worry about waking up early, and just moving at a slower pace. The breakfast was incredible, I haven't seen such a wide range of food before!

« Great locatoin but don't consider it 5 star »

The stay was good. It is a great location, and we got a good corporate rate (through my firm). We have stayed a few times before and on this occasion we chose the Executive Suite to have a little more space. The space itself was great but we considered the rooms a little tired with a need for some TLC (ie the furniture is looking a little dated). The shower also could do with an upgrade as the power of the water flow was a little disappointing. We didn't consider the room itself to be of 5 star quality. We would say, however, that the foyer, reception, spa and bar areas are 5 star quality, and very relaxed and comfortable places to be. Check in went smoothly. Check out was very good. We'd like to give a mention to Bjorn who dealt with our check out. He was very friendly and pleasant and it was a pleasure to speak with him.

Old room - felt a bit shabby but the rest of the facilities were nice. Nice Lobby bar and reception/check in out was friendly and efficient. Can not fault front desk staff at all. Room service menu was a bit limited i.e. no starters available but the food was nice that I got both nights. Corporate booking so I was given the room by the elevator so a bit noisy - but I've worked in hotels I know that's often the case and corporate bookings often get assigned the less desirable rooms.

Overall, very good. I arrived feeling very unwell and as I only use debit cards (no credit cards), there was a bit of an issue with the girl at the desk who seemed to insist on taking $400 out of my account (which would have left me with no money). However, her Manager kindly allowed me to pay for the accommodation at the desk, as I had planned, so I could head straight to bed. I do wonder if there isn't a suitable alternative for those of us who don't use credit cards? As it happens, because I was so ill during my stay, I spent money in the hotel, which if your girl had taken the funds out, I would not have been able to do so. And I never use mini bar as a rule. Once I got to the room, very happy with it - even had a sea view! Bed was fabulous, although disappointed at the very few options of channels available on TV. Would expect someone of Pullman's status to have a huge number of channel options - eg, HGTV, Food Channel, Discovery, Nat Geo etc.

The hotel was quite busy at the time which made it feel understaffed at reception - I had to wait quite a while for guests to be checked-in before being able to inform the staff that my room key was not working and i could not even get to my floor as the lift requires the key to activate the floor. The staff were very friendly, the room was a good size and comfortable, but needed heating control. I appreciated the complimentary use of the business lounge/printer. Unfortunate that no free guest parking.

As normal, really good, but... I had to take down and clean the bathroom extractor vent, because it was dripping dirty water over the shower: no real problem because I understood what was happening and could fix it. However, the really big problem was being directed to the "free" breakfast on your "Club" level. No:bread for toast, butter or very little else. No cups, regular or paper for hot drinks, or any functional coffee maker: To be fair, your staff tried hard but to very little avail. Generally, all very less than ordinary: we're happy we had to endure one time only; refusing the the rest and paying. This experience damaged our previous thoughts about Pullman.

I have rated this as a '9' rather than a '10' because I think it was near the best experience that I feel Pullman could deliver and was by far the best experience I have had to date. I don't ever award a 10 :) Specific points worth mention: 1. In the past receiving 'welcome drink' vouchers has been hit-and-miss (sometimes I would get them and sometimes not). The same would apply to complimentary bottled water in the room and also the occasional gift of confectionery on arrival. Sometimes I would phone reception and ask for these specifically but eventually I stopped requesting them because it felt pathetic. This time Pullman kindly provided SIX welcome drink vouchers and they were very well received :) There was also an abundance of bottled water (6 bottles over 2 days) which was nice) 2. Room upgrades are always 'subject to availability' and that is entirely understandable. It seemed in some of my later trips that room upgrades were never available and felt like it was not really a happening thing for Accor members any longer. I was mildly vexed the 2nd to last time I stayed with Pullman and there was this fellow at the desk that seemed to not care remotely whether there was an upgrade or not and manifested as being incompetent and slow (fortunately he wasn't working this time round). This time my friend and I were upgraded to a one-bedroom residence in the apartment block (I love the apartment block) and it was truly lovely! 3. My friend arrived from Brazil before I arrived and speaks very little English - she was very appreciative of the interpreter that was on hand to help her :) Thank you for helping out here. 4. Dining experience: The restaurant was very busy both mornings but I was pleased that they still made room for my friend and I. 5. Sometime last year (perhaps 18 months ago) I was given a small notebook for writing in that was branded with the Pullman logo. I used this book ever since and I would take it everywhere with me to journal my thoughts and use it as a receptacle for my brain-vomit. As I neared the end of the book I started wondering where I would purchase another suitable notebook from but never got around to actually looking for one. By complete coincidence I had one single spare page to go when I arrived so I decided to ask (nicely/brazenly) whether there were any more. The first fellow I approached on Saturday could not find any and said sorry but he couldn't help. I decided to ask a 2nd time on Sunday as I was checking out and Roger (a fellow of Asian descent with glasses and teeth) went to have another look. He came back saying that he could not find any and that they had more on order. He promised to make a note of it for my next visit. I was disappointed but resigned to purchasing a notebook when I got home. I waited in the central concourse for a couple of minutes before my Uber arrived and then as I was walking out the main entrance Roger called my name - he had found another notebook!! This one was black one - I was stoked! While this may sound ridiculous, getting the notebook was absolutely the highlight of my time at the Pullman. For the cost of a few dollars you scored high with one of my most intimate currencies - that of writing and journaling!! 6. Giving feedback: I was vexed reading feedback on the Herald about 12 months ago written by one of those individuals that takes random flights and stays at random hotels so they can write about their experiences. They recounted a 'glowing' experience at the Pullman and I was irked when they wrote about being given a room upgrade to the residence apartments (seemingly not as an Accor member). It irked me to the point that I wanted to specifically leave caustic feedback on TripAdvisor to contradict it (I didn't ultimately do this). Happily, my most recent Pullman experience negated a large degree of any negative perceptions I held. Typically I would not bother write such extensive feedback in this section but I do so because I particularly wanted to share the experience with the notebook :) 7. Context: I understand and appreciate that I am just one random customer out of thousands and also acknowledge that I could come across as obnoxiously arrogant with this feedback. I sincerely hope, however, that it offers some small additional grain of insight to your vast customer base and aids you with your branding and service efforts :) 8. Caveat: Because I am short of time and only wished to share this text with you I am going to apply a consistent '9' to all of the following options as I need to apply some figure to them to submit this feedback.
