Our stay was very pleasant in our executive rooms with all the amenities: bathrobe and slippers, Nespresso machine, lovely bathroom amenities, a shower and a bathtub and a very good breakfast buffet. The only drawback was the fact that the safe was not operational and despite asking twice to have it looked at, it did not happen.

It was an amazing 12 nights stay!

A wonderful City, old and new. Excellent transport system, clean, efficient, and many trams available. Friendly people. Definately recommend a one hour tour on an old fashion Tram. Lasts one hour and guide was very informative.

Customer service was outstanding. Everyone treated us very well, and they were always ready to answer to any questions. Room was very comfortable, wifi worked very well, and there was a lot of space for two people. Breakfast was very good. There was a lot to choose from. We even received a special welcome drink, and we were given tickets to local transportation for the whole duration of our stay. That was pretty awesome as the local transportation is very good in Basel. As we were staying for the weekend, there was a free parking place just outside the hotel. This was also very nice. The location is very good, and we had only a short walk to the places we visited. We had no problems inviting some friends to join us for breakfast. When we return to Basel, we'll hope to be staying at this hotel again.

Great hotel versus other Novotel's I've stayed in. Great addition to have the all inclusive public transportation pass. Seems like a good place if needing to stay for longer time given the breakfast and bar area and gym.

Could be improved slightly. Menu is somewhat limited in the bar. No iron in the room, has to be delivered.

From the moment we arrived we were treated to the best service of any of the many many hotels we have stayed in around the world. From the chilled citrus infused iced water in the foyer to the friendly staff at the front counter and in the bar and restaurant their attention was second to none. The only thing we would like to see changed is the dreaded paper cups in the rooms to drink hot tea and coffee from and the lack of normal black tea available. As we drink 2-4 cups a day they were insufficient and unsafe to use without doubling them up to hold hot drinks. Then we had to wash them out for the next drink. Just one cost cutting measure too far for us but overall the room was great and the bed very comfortable.

Plus: I really liked that my request for a quiet room was considered and that the check in agent pointed this out. I also appreciated the welcome drink very much Room for improvement: The pillows were very hard. Many hotels now offer two kinds a fluffy feather type and the harder ones you have. Not a big deal, however. Overall a great stay, I was very happy.

My credit card has been charged twice and despite a call to the Accor call centre, nothing has changed.

Dear Mr. D. Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience at the Novotel Basel City. We really regret that your experience did not meet your expectations. At Novotel, we strive to provide a superior service experience for every customer; therefore your feedback is very important to us. You mentioned that you have called the customer care service. The customer care service has contact us already and received our clarification as well. Nevertheless, I would like to take this opportunity to forward this to you already. You have booked a nonrefundable, prebilling rate through accorhotels.com. The amount of CHF 136.00 was deducted from the given credit card directly according to the booking conditions. The payment has been proceeded through APOL (Accor Payment Online). This is our solution for secured online payments. As you took advantage of our online check-in service, the system took additionally a pre-authorization of CHF 110.00 per night. The pre-authorization is a normal process. According to the online check-in the pre-authorization was made through our online payment system as well. (APOL) Finally, at check-out there was just CHF 8.00 left to pay for city tax. This amount has been deducted from the pre-authorized 110.00. According to my experience, I know that you often do not see any differences on your credit card statement between charges and authorizations. Further there is no additional message shows that the pre-authorization has been released. Please rest assure that no unauthorized transaction took place I am very glad to reconfirm that no unauthorized transaction has been proceed. Please let me know if you have any further question.
