« Friendly staff, clean room, great lunch »

The reception staff were welcoming and friendly and the quick lunch sandwich I got was fresh and tasty. My room was good and wifi worked well. Comfy sleep afterwards. Breakfast was good. Dinner was a bit of a disappointment, but certainly not bad

« Relaxing break »

This was again a very relaxing weekend break with friendly staff and a hotel not too busy. The small issues were no buffet breakfast as the hotel was not busy enough, food was cooked to order, and although the evening meal was fine, breakfast was very slow, waiting 30 minutes for our food even though there was only 3 tables to serve. Also food menu has been changed with very limited choice of sandwich's. But apart from that a very nice weekend again with keen and polite staff, special mention to Dan who was excellent.

I really enjoyed my stay, and thanks to the team , I had a problem in my room and they just gave another room bigger than the previous one, the same size would have been for me good too, but they just upgraded me, so for sure next time I will come in Hatfield I will be back in your hotel.

I was disappointed how I was dealt with when I booked in at 2. I was told my room was not ready. I therefore left. On my return I expressed my disappointment how I was treated. I did get an apology. I would have liked a goodwill gesture such as a complimentary meal or drink. I’ve stayed a number of times at the hotel.

Clean room, good facilities. However the bathroom light and fan were automatic and stayed on for long periods after use. Really reduced the quality and comfort of our stay.

« bad beginning so only improvement was possible »

Arriving at the hotel, the front door had a sign stating "please use other door" with an arrow pointing to the right. Assuming this meant that the other door was to the right, we went all the way around the hotel, (quite some distance carrying heavy bags) to the back door which led into the reception. The sign on the door apparently meant the other double door next to the one which had the sign on! Quite why a sign was not put on the usable door stating "please use this door" begs the question. A bad start. Booked in at reception and was given the keys. Got to the room to find that it was a double room - not two single beds which I had booked. Leaving my friend in that room (in which the switch for the lights was not obvious so the room was in virtual darkness) I went to reception, explained I wanted what I had booked and after checking the records, the receptionist agreed that I had indeed booked a twin bedded room stating the housekeeper had made a mistake by now pulling the beds apart. I went back to the room as requested by receptionist while he went to try and find a twin bedded room which was still in darkness and waited 35/40 minutes before he returned to give us a twin bedded room. In that time, my friend had gone down to reception to find out what was going on and told simply that he was trying to find a room so really no information. We had arrived early for our friend's 60th party being held in the hotel so that we could have a bit of quiet time to ourselves, getting changed etc. As it was, we had 15 minutes in which to rush changing, make up, showering etc so a thoroughly bad inital experience As my title said, only improvement after that was possible and once we had calmed down, we enjoyed the party, the staff were good and the food passable.

« Pleasant and helpful staff, enjoyable stay »

Reception staff on checkin very pleasant. Room bright and well proportionend. Only criticism would be that you could not turn off the bathroom light and the fan was on a lot.

The rooms are maintained to a clean comfortable standard, the communal areas are a little dated but are sufficient for short stays and the food and drinks are reasonable in both flavor and price

The good:Location suited me for work purposesReception welcome was quick and friendlyOn site bar and restaurantComfortable bedHot powerful showerThe bad:Old fashioned in-room heating, room was freezing when I went in, drafty windows. Turned heater on, which was then stuffy.Breakfast buffet, £10, awful. Not good value for money. Very sad looking buffet food without a good flavour. Waitresses stood as far away from guests as possible chatting and not actually serving. Everyone had to walk up to them to ask for something.

Check in was quick and easy, recognition as gold member with upgrade & drinks. Nice big room, very clean. Water pressure was a problem as it was rather low. The small radiator just about heated the room.
