Have nothing but good things to say about the hotel. Rooms are spacious and very clean, the staff are amazing I know they work long hours but they always welcome you with a smile and would go out of their way to help with anything. The food in the restaurant is very good and the chefs special was the nicest meal ive had in a long time

Dinner on first night was good but not good on the second night. We were on the ground floor and didn't feel that we could open the window when it was a bit warm. Overall it was a pleasant visit.

Checkin was interesting as App only checked in one room of two and put a pre with on the one room. Staff helpful. Woke up at 9am on final day by housekeeping wanting to clean room.

The staff at reception are really very helpful and friendly, rooms are spacious and comfortable and I appreciate the fresh fruit and coffee making equipment. Beds are comfortable although I prefer the harder one in 128 (bit soft in 132) Breakfast good.

Have stayed at this hotel previously and had been quiet satisfied, but not this time, magnitude to resturant, Saturday breakfast, buffet style, only two staff available, coffee and tea jugs both empty as was coffee again when refil required, no plates at buffet another wait also for fried eggs.I ordered, killers which when they finally arrived they looked like they had been rung out, toast requested when arrived only two slices of one slice each and no spreads on table. Made comments to reception, will advise management !! Sadley no change in Sunday or Monday. On returning to hotel Saturday afternoon we found a notification in our room advising if eating in hotel in evening to book early as due to function food would not be available between 6.45 and 9pm, we tried to order a royal sandwich at 6.05 pm and were advised this was not possible. All advised to reception on checkout, usual apolagies, will advise management. Service, no, doubt we will patronize again

The whole experience was a near miss experience. On check in, I was asked whether I'd stayed previously, because I had, no attempt was made to explain how to get to my room. Room was fine, Nespresso machine much appreciated. Breakfast, no toast offered, no attempt to explain the system. Check out, wrong amount charged and had to request copy of my bill... Underwhelmed...

Breakfast was poorly organized, Saturday: no cups for coffee or bowls for serials, same spoon for scrambled eggs & beans, slow reaction to concerns i.e. waiting for bacon & eggs to come out, feeling was more staff required. We were informed there was a large function Saturday so we might want to consider not taking evening meal, this was appreciated as we chose to eat out, but really can the hotel not cater for all guests effectively?

Nicely refurbished with a few frustrations

The hotel has recently been refurbished and looks nice, bed was comfy and I was surprised how little road noise we had considering how close to the A1 it is (we were really expecting it to be significant). Considering it has recently been refurbished it was slightly frustrating how poorly considered things like power points were - there was one plug socket on the left hand side of the bed and nothing on the right hand side so unable to charge phone/tablet/watch next to bed. Also no plug socket next to the tea/coffee making facilities so have to have kettle on desk next to the other electronics. Finally while we werent fussed it was odd returning to the hotel about 10.30 on a saturday night to have the bar closed.

We have looked into the points you raised and we are a little confused as all our bedrooms have a generic set up , each room has 2 sets of charging sockets at each side of the bed, both right & left, with USB sockets above each plug socket. The rooms also have a further double socket on the working table, in respect to the tea & coffee station , this is on a separate display table , again with 2 sockets easy accessible. When the refurbishment was completed the designer was mindful of ensuring that we had adequate charging facilities in each bedroom. Please rest assured that we are taking the appropriate measures to address the problem you encountered on your return to the hotel with bar not being open and procedures have been put in place to prevent prevent future occurrence. We appreciate your sharing your concerns, and it is our hope that you will give us the opportunity to better serve you in the near future. Sincerely, Katherine

Really enjoyed weekend all inclusive break after having a very disappointing New year stay at the hotel. Food excellent, staff very good, room clean. Have stopped here many times and hopefully will be back again soon.

Decent room but let down by the service

Booked a few weeks ago for a family trip to see friends, with my (pregnant) wife and 1yr old child. We'd chosen to pay more and upgrade to a suite for the space, which turned out to be a good decision. However, the service at the hotel was pretty rubbish: - Nice receptionist, but when we arrived at 4pm (after travelling 248 miles) our room wasn't ready. Not great when you have a tired pregnant wife and irritable child. - No kids menu available for food or for drink at the bar - Asked for a high chair and it must've taken a good 5-10 minutes to arrive, despite a quite bar area - Breakfast on the Saturday was slow - both waiting for someone to serve us, get the high chair once again, and get toast - Breakfast on the Sunday was even worse - no clean tables when we arrived (all empty, but all had plates on, with no staff visibly cleaning), high chair took ages once again, no cutlery even when we did find space, and all happening within the earshot of the kitchen doors through which staff could be heard laughing and joking. As the headline suggests the room can't really be faulted but the service we experienced was, on the whole, terrible.

Mercure hotel was our option based on good location, price and what was included. Great food and excellent service with very friendly staff. We stayed with our three years old son and they made everything easy and fantastic! Family friendly and cozy place to stay. I really recommend this place and I’d love to come back in another occasion. So far ve become now a member of the chain.

Bathroom in need of upgrade and soon. I had to lift my legs out of the bath to get my head in the water. Bath old and grubby. Breakfast chaotic, and who has tea and coffee in a insurance.ted jug. Coffee quality awful. This isn't the 1970s. Bar terrible. Beer choice dire. Working mans club standard and served by young man in a black shirt who stunk of cigarettes. Big upgrade needed, carpet in corridor to rooms grubby and worn. The whole place seemed unloved and in need of attention Not a Mercure I am used to.
