« Disappointed there was no pool after booking on the website which said there was! »

Friendly helpful staff. Room a little dated yet comfortable. Good shower. Good parking. Once we arrived along the lane to the hotel we overshot the entrance as the sign was only visable from 1 direction & the back of it had no writing on it. Could be clearer. Felt sorry for the staff having to deal with explaining to us why there was no pool when the website we booked on had allowed me to use the filter to choose a hotel with a pool. Had I known there was no pool I would not have booked this hotel as it was part of the treat for my son. Very disappointed & will now have to question all bookings made online with Accor as feel they cannot be trusted.

« Facilities not as described on the Accor website »

Located along a narrow lane, easy to miss the entrance as it's only signed from one direction. Good car park, acessible entrance for wheelchair users. Friendly helpful staff. The pool is no longer in use despite still appearing as part of the facility on the website. Bathroom a little dated yet good shower so adequate.

Breakfast, the staff were not welcoming, i think more training on customer relations need doing,I had to ask for coffee whilst at my table and then no milk was given, I had to ask for milk, there was a lack of butter for toast, and a shortage of plates for the hot food, The corridors to our bedroom had been recently painted, the smell of paint was awful

« A good place to stay »

Found the hotel good and the staff pleasant, my only down side which is nothing to do with the hotel and its facilities was that I had to personally contact Accor due to no update on points and days added to my account

« Never again »

Spent a night at this hotel, booked in April because they had a swimming pool. However, when we got there was told it had been closed for a month but room was discounted! Room was just above reception, facing front which seems to have been one of the better rooms. Would of hated to get one with the stained glass windows to hide the bad view at the back. However, this room was Very Very Dark. Also you could hear the music below you upto 12.30 (luckily we went to a wedding elsewhere so was back about 12 but if you wanted to sleep earlier you would have had a problem. It's not to the standard that you expect from Accor and am glad I've been to others otherwise I wouldn't go to their hotels from this example! only 1 towel/toiletries/tea spoon and tea left for us, took 2 hours for the missed items to appear (after 2 phonecalls). Part of curtain was off the rail but we fixed this ourselves, at least check the rooms before you let guests stay. Don't mention the shower and how poor the condition of the room looked. It could be lovely if it had money put into it!! Breakfast was nice but then only 6 rooms were used that night. I wonder why??

« Good for a one night stay. »

We were in room 110, first appearance was clean and tidy. On looking around the room it was actually in need of a bit of TLC/redecoration. There are patches on the wall where 2 pictures hung and the carpet may need a deep clean. The bathroom need a good overhaul decour wise, rough wood work and a paint job would help. The toilet seat was yellow around the edges, please throw it away and get a new one also the toilet is not fixed securely to the floor. Could do with more tea, coffee and milk. The rest of the hotel was a little tired but clean and tidy. The staff were helpful and polite, thankyou. Good breakfast selection, no problems with that. Your road side signage needs to be more obvious as we missed it coming out of the town, on turning round we didn't see any signage at all until we got onto the drive way.

« Fine »

The room was fine, but it was disappointing that the swimming pool was not available and this had not been mentioned on the website when booking - it was marked as a facility that was available and was something that made me consider staying at the hotel. I think it should be made clear that this is not available when booking, as many people would chose the hotel for this facility and be happy to pay a higher price to have this available. Also, I understand that it has been closed for renovations for a number of months, so it is a short-term or last minute change that you do not have an opportunity to your customers. Perhaps a discount should be made when this facility is not available for those that were not aware of it? I was looking forward to using it and it was disappointing that could not be used when it felt that I could have been easily pre-warned.

A few things were disappointing: - dead insects on the windowsill - lukewarm shower - staff member entering our room at 08:20 am

The hotel was clean but appeared t require some updating. I think we were forgotten at breakfast as we waited much longer than people who arrived after us

« Just very poor all around »

The shower constantly put out overly hot water that could only be adjusted to freezing cold. The cold tap in the sink provided hot water only. The bed was so old it practically collapsed in the middle. There was no tv remote provided and the replacement I got from reception didn't work. Food was nice but everything about the hotel feels dirty and very poorly looked after.

The stay was fine apart from my daughter in law being given a room that was already occupied by a male guest

Long wait for service in restaurant. Mould ridden toast served at breakfast. Room was comfortable. Staff were friendly. Still waiting for my loyalty points to be added.

« Tired, unclean Hotel in desperate need of a facelift and staff training. »

Tired, filthy room with stains on the carpets, marks on the walls and a toothpick on the floor! Utterly clueless member of staff on the bar and one member of staff in VERY desperate need of training at breakfast. Breakfast was appalling, had to ask several times for tea/coffee, toast and hot food refills. Only 14-16 people at breakfast when we visited so NO excuse for being busy when there were 4 staff assisting. Both the inside and the outside of the hotel is very tired, obviously nothing being spent to keep it top condition. It's a shame as it's in a beautiful area.

« Disappointing, the hotel should not charge guests for a service it cannot provide. »

Having paid for early check-in we were very disappointed that there were no rooms available when we arrived. This resulted in us having to change our plans for the day. You should not charge for a service that you cannot provide.

« Unimpressed »

I have stayed at many Mercure Hotels over the past few years and have been impressed. However this one fell well below the standard of the others I have stayed at. The room was not very clean with spiders and webs in the bottom corner near the Wardrobe. The beds were badly made - the mattress protector was lying on top of the mattress, rather than being fitted and the bottom sheets were not tucked in. Overall the room was quite dingy. Although the bath produced hot and cold water, the shower would only run COLD. Sunday morning Breakfast service was an absolute shambles, I know it was busy, but this was unacceptable. Monday Breakfast was far better, with a very nice lady waiting on, but of course it was not busy. We requested brown toast, but they had ran out of Brown bread despite there being a Sainsbury's store only a few yards away. On checking out I was unexpectedly told that the amount due was £70.24. This had already been paid with Reward points when the booking was made, I had the paperwork with me and this was corrected. There is quite a lot of accommodation available in the area and in future I will not be returning here

« Disgusting »

The room and bathroom was dirty - the shower leaked all night and was hardly clean enough to have a shower in all together! Considering the cost of the room (£91) this was not fit for purpose. Additionally the veg at dinnertime was completely watery and had lost all colour and like wise the breakfast looked completely vile! Not acceptable for the overall cost
