« Hotel building amazing...service, attention to detail and experience not so much »

We used the room from 4.30pm for 2 hours then returned to sleep 1am. The room was the Gable, which was small but amazing, loved it! However the bath was clearly old and neglected and I felt while the build is old the rooms decor wasn't rustic just tired. The lack of power on both sides of the bed is an issue, rather charge my phone next to the bed than have a lamp, but can't even use that socket. Went down for Breakfast at 8am and staff were unorganised, looked like just got up, the full english breakfast wasn't out, then had to ask for plates...not great. However the building itself is just fantastic and we will return for a more leisure stay and enjoy the hotel and grounds. My fear is that the staff may let the side down again. Lets hope not....

Rooms not the best bathroom very poor lock on door not working cracked tiles in shower shower cord falling to bits black mildew on tiles meant to be double bed but two singles pushed together never again will we stay

« Generally ok but the shower cubicle was far too small to use »

Have stayed here before and had satisfactory rooms. This time the shower was too small for me to get in. I am well built and it should have been obvious to the receptionist that I wasn't going to fit past the cubicle doors! I was too embarrassed to ask for a different room and would have appreciated a warning that the shower was not going to be suitable for someone of my stature.

« Lost opportunity »

This place could be turned into a very nice 4 star hotel, very typical, old manor with superb surroundings. Instead it is a real bad experience and very, very disappointing. So many things are not ok for even a 3 star hotel. When the hangers for the clothes are lying outside your window on the grass one can imagine how the rest of the staff is qualified to do their job.

I don’t really remember much about it, as the title says I had other things on my mind. However it was clean comfortable and the food was good. Once the staff knew why I was there they were appropriately considerate.

We live locally and to avoid the constant smell of paint decided to stop at your hotel. The walk from the car park to reception had very little lighting and inadequate signage. Had to approach bar area as no one on reception. Room was acceptable for the price but pushing two uncomfortable mattresses together does not constitute a 'double' room. It was necessary to return to reception on every visit as the door-card did not work and on most occasions finding a member of staff was extremely trying. As the beds were that uncomfortable we decided to put up with the smell of paint and only stopped for the first two nights. I trust my comments are of assistance as I feel the location and setting to be exceptional.

« Only one thing let it down »

Nice hotel, clean, functional, as it should be. One thing let it down. Both receptionists we engaged with could do with some customer service training. No immediate acknowledgement, no smile, they were not 'friendly' and didn't make us feel valued.

Room 18 was a bit disappointing. Both lamps didn't work. No plug in bath. Curtains fell off the rail. Got moved to room 26 which was lovely.

Lovely stay for my family.good food in lovely surroundings.more staff required as sometimes it felt like it was like the Marie celesta.trying to find someone to take orders at the bar was farcical at best.but the staff were excellent throughput.the manager should be very pleased with them.

« very disappointed »

no one at reception on arrival. Room not what we had booked.No robes slippers etc Unbearable noisy plumbing Booked dinner at reception on arrival. When we went to dinner we had not been entered on list. No fire was lit in dining room as promised. Have stayed here before and enjoyed our stay that is why we booked again. After a long tiring day I was very upset to find things not as expected

Everything was good except the strange continuous noise which awoke me - presumably the plumbing as no signs sod alien spacecraft in the grounds! It is difficult to find.

I fully understand that over the Christmas period you are probably quite but The service within the hotel was shocking. 3 customers waiting in the bar area as their was no-one to serve them, Dinner looked and tasted like it had come from a microwave and I didn't even get the breakfast I ordered as the young lad taking my order didn't write it down so just guessed!

« Fantastic discovery, great hotel »

I stayed at Madeley Court with my wife for a Saturday night getaway and were blown away by the place. The main building is beautiful and we paid the extra money to stay in the suite in room 50 which was lovely. A very large bedroom with huge original windows, plus a monster sized bathroom with free-standing tub and separate shower. The rest of the hotel was really nice to look at and dinner in the restaurant was superb. All in all a very pleasant place to stay and we will be returning there next year. The one drawback was the loud music from an Xmas party at the Mill building on the complex, which went on until after 1am and VERY apparent in our bedroom. That said, it is that time of year so understandable.
