The hotel is in excellent location. The rooms are bit tired with a few issues. Radiator not working, but was sorted. Bedside light faulty. Shower not the best. Dusty in places, but in spite of that, The stay was good. Staff were great nothing too much trouble. Food excellent. Would revisit when on offer again.

afternoon tea:- well it was ok, but service was slow and sloppy, room was not heated and quite cold. Overnight stay:- Upgraded room, central heating, not working, cold, had to ask for heater, breakfast service was good with a good staff member serving. evening meal was poor, soup was cold, main meal mine was steak, tomato was red hot, rest was luke warm wife's meal blade of beef, with mash, what a joke, mash was a lump of potato, burnt underneath. generally the room with breakfast was £96, was well over priced, and so was the two course main meals at £26.50 each

« A lovely gift from our children »

We had a lovely few days and would love to come back in warmer weather to really explore surroundings area. The staff were very nice especially in the restaurant but it would have been helpful if the staff in general had a little bit more knowledge about the area

diE have spent our anniversary at madeley court for the last 4 years and have always been satisfied with everything hence why we come back every year .However we felt it was lacking in the way staff in were at the evening meal also considering how cold it was there was no fires lit so very uncomfortable in the dining room when we had our meals .

Location and rooms a little outdated, but, adequate. Great food and service was also great, albeit a little slow. Had the impression there was staffing level issues due to sickness, however the ones that were in working are a credit to the hotel chain.

« Good base to explore the area »

We had stayed here previously a few years ago and having decided to explore further in the area decided this would be a good base. Last time we were in an old art of the hotel; this time in the new part. The room was adequate but being on the ground floor next to the entrance meant anyone in the bar could look into the room if they were so inclined. Also, there was no extractor fan in the bathroom or any grab bar over the bath for holding onto when climbing out after a shower. The main dining area is in the old hall and retains much of the atmosphere of an old manor house. The food in the restaurant was very palatable, well presented and enjoyable, but not cheap. The cost of a meal for two (with 2 glasses of wine + 2 beers), without desert, was almost as much as the cost of accommodation for two nights I don’t like the practice of showing a fixed price menu and then showing the better dishes have a ‘supplement’, making them a more expensive option. The bar food menu actually offers better value and is worth trying, if you don’t mind sitting with your food practically under your nose (the chairs are a bit low, or the tables a bit high, for comfortable dining in the bar). The staff were all very pleasant and seemed efficient but having to wait 10 minutes whilst the bar waitress went of to do something didn’t please us or a few other couples who were left waiting. The approach road needs repair, with potholes and general debris scattered along its’ length. This deterioration seems to be largely caused by the number of parents collecting their children from the academy adjacent to the hotel, who drive up and try to turn around on the single-track road, churning up the mud on the sides and blocking access to the hotel. All-in-all, despite these minor quibbles, we would probably still recommend this hotel and stay again if we decide to return to the area.

Asked for quiet room. 1st night was terribly noisy. No tv cable. Light fell from ceiling on my wife in bath. Shower did not work. Smoke detector was removed. 2nd night new room. Bedding did not fit the bed. No socket for bedside lamp.

Lovely hotel. Got waken up at 3am by the fire alarm. There was a power cut, staff did not have a key to turn it off. And no hot water to shower. And no apology of the staff.

Quality of food good. Service poor. Reception very poor. No clear instructions for finding room. no info about times or rooms for meal. Room very cold upon arrival possibly heating could be switched on in anticipation of guest arrival. Small issues such as lack of bulbs. One good point was that a fault in bathroom reported a.m. repaired before return in evening.

No heating in the room despite asking for someone to look into it. Fire alarm set off at 3.30am which was caused by a power cut but then took 40 minutes to turn off as they needed the manager with the correct set of keys. Completely lack of empathy from receptionist when checking out

room was lovely but cold when we got there which was sorted out when we asked. The food in the evening was really nice and breakfast was nice but basic compared to some hotels we have stayed in bad points could do with one or two more staff on went down to bar to have a drink no one there to serve you had to go and find someone. Fire Alarm went off at 3 am took a hour to turn it off hanging around by reception no apology just it might go off again. it would have been nice to been offered something for the inconvenience. Table cloths dirty at breakfast had to move tables twice we went down at 8.30 I know people had breakfast before we got there but if a table cloth is dirty it should be changed before other guest sit down. We enjoyed our stay but it could have been so much better just little things letting you down

Food was excellent. full marks to the chef. There was either too many serving or not enough it would appear you may have a staffing problem. The room was good, however there should have been a small waste bin in the room and the washbasin was cracked, not good. As the bathroom is situated where it is in room 44, it should be heated, it was freezing. The staff were very friendly.
