« Fantastic discovery, great hotel »

I stayed at Madeley Court with my wife for a Saturday night getaway and were blown away by the place. The main building is beautiful and we paid the extra money to stay in the suite in room 50 which was lovely. A very large bedroom with huge original windows, plus a monster sized bathroom with free-standing tub and separate shower. The rest of the hotel was really nice to look at and dinner in the restaurant was superb. All in all a very pleasant place to stay and we will be returning there next year. The one drawback was the loud music from an Xmas party at the Mill building on the complex, which went on until after 1am and VERY apparent in our bedroom. That said, it is that time of year so understandable.

A very pleasant one night stay for business. Very helpful staff when I was checking in quite late, ensuring that I could get food before the hotel stopped serving.

« Poor room and poor service »

I have stayed with you before but this time was checked into room 16. Reception was chatting to colleagues on my arrival, took no time to ask about my journey, didn’t ask if I was ok with a spiral staircase or if I was able to carry my case without help. Into room and it was exceptionally hot. No way of turning off the radiators so I had to open the windows, which compounded the next problem which was I was above the boiler house and the noise was exceptional. Constant. I rang reception. No answer. In fact rang so long I was cut off. Rang the special 2424 number, that persons phone was not switched on. By this time I was in nightwear and didn’t want to go down the stairs so kept ringing, same response. In the morning a bath, very slow water feed and only a hand held shower, hard to regulate. On leaving arrived at desk. Was asked if I was checking out and what room number. Stated number and was then asked ‘are you sure’ had to show my card to prove it,. No question about how my night was. If I had been given the opportunity I would have shared this then. I have not yet written a review anywhere else but I was highly disappointed, mostly with the service and as I stay mostly in Accor hotels I expect more. Having said all that the view over the lake in the morning was beautiful

« An "ok" stay. Could have been better »

Very unclear where reception was. Greeted by very loud pop music and s receptionist who didn't welcome us or smile. Wasn't friendly. Kept on popping out to talk to colleague. Our room was very basic and run down (38). Double bed was two singles at different levels. One very noisy and uncomfortable. Rang reception for change of room. Waited a while for them to get back to us. Gave up so eent to reception. Thankfully new receptionist was happier and more helpful. Got a free upgrade that seemed more like how a normal room should be. Wouldn't say it was "executive". Bar didn't have any snacks. Breakfast waitress seemed to busy for us. At 9am was too busy clearing tables and making up for dinner time to attend to our needs. Cold draft from beer delivery. Said she couldn't close it. Seemed a long time waiting. No fresh fruit. Delicious hot food though. Didn't provide butter or ketchup. Had to ask for it.

« Room was not cleaned properly »

In the room when I turned over a mug to make some tea, there were still tea stains around it. Then when i went to have a shower, there was a large clump of long hair stuck to the shower wall. I took a photo and sent it to your receptionist. She was most helpful and did give a discount off of the room. However, i did notice that she was also having to deal with other customers who were complaining about things such as a lack of hairdryer in the room. Your receptionist should be commended for the calm and helpful manner in which she dealt with multiple complaints, but your housekeeping staff obviously need further training.

« Short but lovely experience »

We only stayed for one night, but the room was a nice size with a good bed. The hotel reception and bar are both very nice. The only way it could have been improved: if thin pillows, as well as the thick ones, had been provided.

« Consistent Comfort »

To return to a hotel we would need to feel comfortable and be assured of a good nights sleep. In addition it has to be clean, offer good food and have friendly welcoming staff. My Wife and I have become a regular guest at the Madeley Court.

« Poor response »

I have stayed at the Madeley a few time now, and it worked well for me. However this time around it seem there was 'less care' I had a very busy schedule and wanted to save every minute, so opted for room service for dinner but it took some trying on the telephone to get hold of the receptionist after several attempts then tried the 2424 and had a message saying the number is switched off. got through finally a blunt conversation cutting me off whilst i was trying to arrange breakfast in the room as well due to the time constants. I then read the literature available in the room to check when the breakfast would be served which was 6:30. I also confirmed with the lady that brought up my dinner about the breakfast time and she confirmed 6am. So here i was at 6:15 to be told by a staff that i had to find that the breakfast does not start till 7am. so had to leave without Breakfast that I had paid,

« Beautiful venue with great food and customer service. »

Beautiful location, excellent dinner and breakfast. The central heating wasn't working in our room, it was freezing so Charlie gave us a new room and made sure it was cosy and warm. The hotel staff are friendly and helpful - we were told a refurbishment is planned which is needed. Once the interior matches the quality of the hotel team, this hotel will be fantastic. Could someone hide the supermarket trolley which is in plain view as one walks around the beautiful grounds? (When we were freezing cold, it was easy to regret making our booking - once Charlie had taken a lot of trouble to ensure we would be warm, predictably the disappointment evaporated!)

« Lovely wedding venue »

On arrival the receptionist had difficulty locating our booking. When offered our booking confirmation she declined and after a while confirmed yes we had booked a room and proceeded to process us. She then said you are room only. I advised that no we had also paid for breakfast and once again offered the confirmation paperwork. This time she took it from. She then allocated us a room when another female from the office advised that we couldn't stay in the room (the gatehouse) as there was an issue with bees. She advised that we would be upgraded to an executive room. The room was clean and tidy but was in need of a refurb. It looked tired. I don't consider two apples, an orange, bottle of wine and a coffee machine to be an upgrade. On the way home I looked at our paperwork and found that the room that we had booked was an executive room anyway. That apart we attended a wedding at the hotel which was held in the mill. The venue was lovely and we had a good time.

« One of the worst hotels i have stayed in for a very long time »

Very difficult to get into the hotel when driving. Room very basic. Wi-Fi, could not work in my room as the Wi-Fi was up and down constantly. Our office manager booked the hotel for me, before confirming the room she checked that you could feed me as I’m a coeliac. The hotel confirmed that they could. When I went down for dinner the menu was very limited and two of the options were not available. I had to request a meeting with the manager who tried to sort it out for me. I waited for an hour and a half for the food to turn up which was no better than a Weatherspoon’s meal. B’fast was a joke I ended up in Starbucks around the corner. I will never stay in one of your hotels again which is a shame as i stayed in one of your hotels in Telford the night before which was quite good.

« Not happy »

Room dirty, shower not great, breakfast shocking ..... and the point of this review? Unknown as u will ignore me and make out all is good?? Even when we walked into a lounge and found an old teabag on a plate by the window.. standards.. surely u have standards ?? No disrespect to the wonderful lady who took our food order on the Monday.. I can only guess u didn't have may booked so made all breakfast to order?? But still felt awkward ordering even though we are guests and paying money.... The room had cobwebs.. seriously?? To say I was unhappy having brought my American girlfriend over was an understatement...

« Unique atmospheric building »

Great stay and quite unique in my experience of accor hotels. Location was lovely and Madeley court is a very impressive building, it was nice to see the decor was in keeping with the age of the building and not overly corporate. Staff very friendly, lovely lounge area to relax in. Despite being an old building all mod cons available. Good breakfast served efficiently in a large characterful dining room. Would recommend and will be revisiting next time in the area as well located for Telford and Ironbridge.

« Beautiful building/location but some improvements needed »

Lovely location and can see the attraction for weddings etc. However some parts of the interior looked a bit tired and in my room I was unable to close the windows properly! The catches were broken and some garden wire and string had been tied round a bracket which i had to use to close as much as I could! It was a moderately windy evening and the room was chilly but bearable when in bed. However, what it will be like in the middle of December? Service was mixed, couple of staff pleasant and helpful but reception desk looked like it needed some cheering up!
