« Adequate in a tired hotel »

Leisure pool ok but changing rooms were in need of a big upgrade, they were not the best and looked unhygenic. Room was ok. Thankfully our room was on the ground floor but lift wasn't working for the 3 days we were at the hotel, not a good sign. The hotel is in a very affluent area but does not reflect the level of service it supplies. Overall the hotel is in desperate need of upgrading and sooner rather than later.

« Understaffed, requires refurbishment but otherwise OK »

Restaurant was shut on the first night, unsure why - assume lack of chef. Overall could tell there was a severe shortage of staff and the hotel overall requires refurbishment in the rooms. Painting was very poor, the sealant used in the bathrooms was degrading. On the second night the restaurant was open and the food is very good.

« Underwhelming and in need of maintenance and staffing »

From the outside initial impression was good and staff were pleasant and welcoming on arrival. Although a bit of a trek from reception and a little cramped for 3, room was clean and tidy. With only one small window and no air con, first night was very hot and uncomfortable. Breakfast was very good with waiting staff attentive and efficient. Returned that evening for a meal and drinks but found bar unmanned. After 12 minute wait bar keep appeared for round of drinks and a menu. Outside seating was found in disrepair so had to sit in bar. Again no bar staff so rang reception for service which arrived a few minutes later. Menu was both unappealing and expensive so ordered in. Had to call reception again for bar staff to get drinks whilst waiting delivery. Got back to room to find sheets stuffed under 115 opposite?? Following another hot day this did smell quite bad next day an DCC worse again by the time we left. Checked out to find £117 food charge had been added to my bill. Nice lady on reception noted mistake and corrected. BTW, carpark is full of big holes and H&S side the break glass in the corridor is hanging out of the wall, potentially dangerous and possibly non functional.

« Very uncomfortable »

I booked an extra night before arriving and was told over the phone it would be £38.50. On arrival i had to pay £63 for the extra night. I have a gold status on the reward scheme and received non of the benefits. The room was dusty and full of cob webs with spiders in every corner this made my son very uncomfortable and on the morning of checkout there was human waste bubbling up the plug hole in the bath tub. I can guarantee that I won’t be staying in this hotel again.

« Quality not as expected »

Booked this hotel after receiving a buy a gift voucher for Christmas which cost £175 for a two night hotel stay. Two nights in this hotel was certainly not worth that by any means. Room very basic, pillows and bed were very uncomfortable, although when asked I was given a feather pillow for the second night. The room itself was very basic, breakfast standard. The hotel itself is in great need of refurbishment, carpets worn, lift out of order and the outside needs a thorough revamp. Guttering leaking in the rain, outside lights not working when it’s dark and the car park full of pot holes. Would not recommend at all.

« Friendly, hard-working staff in shabby environment »

We were disappointed to find that our room, and indeed, the whole hotel building, were in a shabby and dated state, badly in need of refurbishment. The bathroom tiles were mouldy, with there was no hot water to the shower. Paint was peeling on the cracked bedroom ceiling. Doors to nearby rooms were constantly slamming loudly (fire door closures in need of repair). The restaurant area was badly lit, tables sticky and flooring scratched and worn. Doors in the corridors were dirty -- the whole place needed a deep clean & renovation. We checked out after one night's stay (had booked two). The management should be ashamed to charge for such an experience.

Our room was red hot and had no air con. We had the window open but the traffic on the main road outside woke us up at 5am both mornings. The shower in our room didn’t work so we were told to use them one next door, yet that one was only running cold water as well. When the maintenance man came he said that we had to run the cold tap into the bath meaning we had cold water running on our feet whilst showering under the dribble of water left. Breakfast had a wide selection but again the room it was served in was boiling hot and dark. This hotel was not worth the money spent and they need to value their customers a lot better!

« Tired, dirty hotel and wrong room allocated »

I booked a suite only to be allocated a room with 3 single beds. The staff eventually allocated a bridal suite, why couldn’t this have been done initially? The vents in the bathroom were clogged with dust, stain marks under the sink and the shower didn’t get that hot. The changing rooms in the pool side were grubby. Staff scrubbing the pool side with the resulting waste running into the pool. Not a pleasant experience. Breakfast was ok but the glasses in the light fittings would do with a clean.

« Disappointed »

Booked a superior room with preference for ground floor. On arrival ground floor preference was given priority, by reception, and allocated a room which turned out to be a standard room and on inspection had not even been cleaned and prepared. After complaints to the manager, allocated a superior room, on second floor, which was accepted. Then informed that lift was out of order which for 80 year olds was not good news. Found out the lift had not been available for 6 weeks. Not impressed!
