« A Little impersonal but good value overall »

Staff were always polite but not really warm or friendly. It was good value for money and the room was very clean. However the cleanliness of the public areas left something to be desired. There were always dirty finger marks on glass and brass door plates. Also, the hotel security was a little lax with exit doors left open and accessible. Breakfast was adequate but not consistent. We stayed for 5 days and every day the available food was different. Good car parking and location for getting about.

The location, room and evening meals were all very good but the breakfast on our first morning was not as good as we are accustomed to in a Mecure hotel, in particular both the coffee and cooked buffet were not quite hot enough. On the second morning it was a disaster due to apparently one member of staff being left to fend for himself so by the time we turned up around 9am everything was in short supply and we were left to fend for ourselves. We made the best of it but we think you should take a look at the staffing levels and support available to them if it should become called for.

« A friendly hotel and good night's stay »

The hotel was clean & friendly, however the dining room was large, virtually empty & lacking any atmosphere. Wi-fi in the room was very poor, which made it difficult to get work done in the evening. Breakfast was adequate, but could have been improved with better communication from the staff and some fresh fruit.

On arrival the receptionist Jordan booked us into room 218. She would have seen that my husband was disabled but didn't explain about the amount of steps there were to get to the room. We struggled with our cases, as there was no help offered. We used the pool and sauna which was lovely and relaxing, but the steam room was out of use. The evening meals were adequate but quite expensive for the quality. On our last morning we used the pool and sauna. A member of staff came to turn on the steam room which we then used. Several benches in there were cracked and broken and should have been decommissioned. On talking with other customers who use the facilities regularly, the opinion was that the hotel was badly managed and things often didn't work or needed chasing up. It was also mentioned by them that the hotel offers All Inclusive which was not offered to us. On returning home, I was hospitalised with Pleurisy, possible cause being the steam room.

1. There was no heating in the room, the heater malfunction, called the reception and promised to send technician but nobody turned up. Hours later they send me electric heater. 2. Bathroom door cannot be locked from inside Nobody told us these two things are faulty

« Wait 2 1/2 hours in the restaurant to get a single course. Tried twice to overcharge me on room and food »

Nice hotel but long walk to the rooms with bad signage to get you back to the reception. So I decided to go to the restaurant, that’s where it all went wrong. I finally arrived at the restaurant after walking along every corridor in the building as there was no signage. I waited to be seated for about 15 mins until I got someone’s attention. I was put into a corner table ( not a problem) apart from that I must have been wearing wallpaper for my top because I must have disappeared. I’m a BIG lad but I must have been invisible. Then 1 hour wait for one course, food was alright but cold. After I had my main I thought I might have a dessert, big mistake, after another hour I got the attention of a member of staff and said they need more staff. I was told “ it’s not the staff, they had to many customers and don’t want it to be busy” I decided to call it a night so asked for the bill. I was told to go out to reception to pay. When I arrived there was five other customers complaining.

« Friendly staff but room was dated and mattress uncomfortable »

We enjoyed our stay and had a few laughs with the staff who were very friendly and showed concern for our dog who was in the local vet hospital. Our room was okay but the mattress was obviously coming to the end of its useability. Food was fine but we both ordered the beef and therewas only one left not good for a Friday evening at 6.30. We were offered a steak instead but my husband decided on the sea bass. Vegetables for the beef were not on the plate and we had to ask for them. Our desserts were lovely. The receptionist on arrival was very welcoming and tried her best to get a room early for us and after three attempts we finally got there. Maybe a little extra training of the layout of the hotel rooms is needed as she told us we were on the ground floor but all rooms beginning with two were first floor. 101 was the room we had in the end

« Hotel room was clean, but other guest were noisy, had no water one day and no hot water next, felt this was unexceptable for a short stay! »

The Hotel was lovely, clean and comfortable. Other Guests were noisy at night, children screaming, doors banging etc! Saturday we had no water and Sunday came from having a swim and there was not hot water, so we couldn’t have a shower or hot wash. We had two rooms with a small child in one, so this was made our stay very difficult and in this day and age, we should have had to put up with it.

Awful. 10 mins to check in - no one on reception- no pool which was the main reason we booked this hotel - no cot in room which was specifically requested at booking - no working television - generator humming all night outside our room. No hot water for a shower. We booked this hotel because it was supposed to have a pool which my foster children were looking forward to and was in close proximity to Chester Zoo where we were taking the children

Room was nicely presented, everyone we came into contact with was very nice. Went to the bar stood waiting for 5 mins as nobody was behind the bar got bored waiting so left without getting a drink. We had no hot water from roughly 5pm in the evening and still non the next morning. Offered a partial refund which I’m currently trying to sort.

Booked for the pool however we never got to use it at all due to being closed all the time!! Breakfast was average but cost 13 each! Room was supposed to be ready but when we got to room cleaner said to come back later! Noisy evenings!

« Clean hotel with a good location »

A satisfactory stay which offers a good location and comfortable room. In my person opinion, it is always a bonus when a hotel offers a gym and whilst this one is fairly small it has enough to enable a sufficient workout. It was however a little untidy and could have done with some ventilation.
