First room 234 too far away and up too many stairs. Second room 115 too cold no heating available in room. Towels very thin and rough on skin. Staff very friendly and helpful.

First time visit to the hotel the reception, bar and restaurant areas are nice, clean and modern. I was disappointment with the small old fashioned room I had. The room was small and dark with old red patterned curtains and animal print wall paper and cobwebs on the window. I had even put a note to say I was celebrating a 40th birthday and wanted the best room available. The room is very mis-represented on the website. I wouldn't stay here again. Staff were friendly and accommodating even finding a phone charge for me to use for the evening. If the room could be brought up to the same standard as the bar/restaurant it would be a much better hotel.

I love staying at this hotel. I work near Cheshire Oaks a lot and find the hotel comfortable and the staff very accomodating. I do find the lack of a main room light a little annoying and the fact that the changing areas in the pool don't have cubicles isn't great, but being able to have a swim and a decent meal before getting in a comfortable bed is a great end to a working day.

This hotel was not the usual Mercure/Accor standard and is in need of a significate amount of work and refurbishment. There are signs that the hotel has been painted in certain areas, but this hotel could do with a lot more attention. There is a strange smell in the rooms and this lingers onto the towels and bedding. We were fortunate enough to be near the back of the back of the hotel as there was a party, but the rooms are not sound proof and you can hear everything from the nearby rooms and corridor. Beds were not comfortable so that also did not help for a good nights sleep. The bathrooms are dated with showers that are awful and were either cold or scolding hot. Could not get a TV signal for most channels, wifi is free but could not signal was weak and did not use the tea/coffee facilities as all the cups were dirty. One of the reasons we choose this hotel was due to the facilities, which we did not use as the pool was closed.

This was by far the worst hotel room I have ever stayed in. It smelt of cigarettes and had cigarette burns on the bedside table, the shower didn’t work because the boiler had broken down and it looked out on ac/heating outlets that hummed all night.

Very good value for money, good sized room (3 adults). Clean bathroom again a good size. We ate in the hotel restaurant on the Saturday night, lovely food but could have done with more staff I think as they were quite busy and we were rather left alone once our food was served. Would have liked more drinks and a dessert but as time went on we couldn’t be bothered and it was getting too late to eat. Think the staff who were on coped well with a busy restaurant. Bar area is lovely and breakfast was very good. Would stay here again.

Poor customer service, no lights in the hall way on our floor and not fixed when reported. Barman kept disappearing for 25-30 mins at a time, spoke to reception and told ‘yeah, he always does that’ but didn’t send anyone else to serve. Every time we went to our room we had to go down and get the key recoded as didn’t work, no apology at all. Poor experience, wouldn’t recommend this hotel! Room outdated (but practical)

Too much chlorine in swimming pool Not much natural light in room. would be nice if family room could have a way to separate room up sharing room with child who likes to have there own space was difficult. Just a curtain between beds could make a big difference

On arrival on the 24th Aug we were greeted by front desk staff that looked as if they wanted to be anywhere else apart from in the hotel. 3 people behind the desk and we had to wait until the couple in front of us were dealt with before we were spoken to. Let alone have a friendly word of welcome from anybody. We took our card key and went to the room, later on, we went back to ask about eating suggestions in the local area. I was amazed to hear the young man behind the desk say there wasn't much to choose from, an enquiry to his colleagues produced the equivalent of a shrug of the shoulders. We were advised to phone Just Eat and they would deliver? There is nothing as unappealing as sitting in a hotel room eating a takeaway - we went around the corner to Little Sutton to a restaurant there and went back the next morning for breakfast. The hotel room 108 had issues as well I opened the curtains and they flew off the rail, there was no retainer piece on the end to stop them coming off. The bathroom had lots of water on the ground when we showered, the seals, around the bath and shower door were faulty.

We have been to stay at this hotel in previous years and found it to be excellent. On this occasion however it was not the case. We were greeted by a lady on reception who was rather surly and seemed to consider checking us in to be somewhat beneath her. The name on our account has been recorded wrongly and although she told us she has changed it, in fact she had not. Upon entering our bedroom we discovered there were stains on the walls a large hole in the carpet and the bathroom fan squealed so loudly we were unable to use the light. My husband and I had busy days planned and didn’t feel that the desk staff were especially helpful and so made no comment at the time we did however take photos and a video if you wish to see evidence of what we found in our room. In fairness the male staff member checking us out was very pleasant as were the cleaning and pool staff we encountered. This hotel has always been our first choice when staying in this area so I am sure you can understand our disappointment.

The hotel appears to have been recently refurbished. Very nice. Staff friendly and efficient. Room comfortable and tastefully decorated. The pool was thoroughly enjoyed by us all. Another plus for us was that the Bathroom had a bath! One small improvement required - need to replace the tatty flaking wood bath panel with something more durable and sympathetic to the rest of the decor.
