I was here on business and the facilities in the room were suitable for this. My only disappointment was that the lighting in the bathroom was very low. I would have much preferred brighter lighting.

Entrance looks OK, but once out of reception, it then goes downhill. The rooms are tired looking and no continental breakfast, in fact the young man who dealt with us, didn't even know what a continental breakfast was!!!

I was very disappointed to read your comments and apologise that you were not satisfied with your stay. I have spoken to the member of staff concerned and can only apologise for this - this is certainly not in keeping with our normally high standards of customer service.

« It met our requirements perfectly. »

We came up to Wigan to attend a relatives funeral and stayed at the Oak for two nights, our son had stayed at the hotel before and recommended it to us. We had not been back to Wigan for 7 years and the hotels nearness to the town centre made it easy to look round and see how it had changed. The hotel staff were welcoming and helpful, the accommodation was comfortable and the spacious bathroom was particularly pleasant to use. The food in the restaurant was excellent for both breakfast and evening meal. Overall, we were very happy with our stay and will use it again when visiting the Wigan area.

The Wigan Oak is getting rather run down. There was wallpaper pealing the corridor, paint pealing in our bathroom and the heater in our room (512) hanging off the wall. The mattresses were very poor and on one side of the bed only fit for the skip - it was changed immediately we asked for it to be changed. Your staff deserve a 10 out of 10 rating. They are without exception friendly, helpful and efficient. We benefited from the 3 for 2 offer and so our stay was very good value.

We would use again, but hotel needs a little more attention in certain areas. The after hours entrance left a lot to be desired and I always believe a walk in shower in bathroom is essential for older people, in hotels baths are a nuisance.

A really nice stay. The staff were excellent as usual. Nothing to much trouble. Whatever we asked for, it was done promptly and without fuss. I would say that the hotel could do with a refurbishment but it is always clean.

rooms ok; terrible glazing- noise from main road; towels a disgrace- worst in ANY Hotel; interior from 1983- its awful; food was ok for breakfast; staff nice; outside looks ok; car park fine; the interior smells; It's very, very poor; not suitable for business- no sockets etc in room although desk reasonable enough;

After investigating your comment regarding the towel, it was verified both by myself and the Duty Manager that the mark on the towel was caused by make-up. Admittedly, this had not been spotted by our Housekeeping team, which I can only apologise for and assure you that they have been spoken to as this is certainly not to our normal standards. I believe the Duty Manager gave you a £20.00 refund due to the inconvenience. The staff are lovely, helpful & friendly as always. The hotel is conveniently situated for us on our visits to Wigan. It's good that that the car park white lines have been redone to make t easier to park properly. However the rooms and bathrooms in particular are overdue for an update /refurbish. The breakfasts also still need to be better value price wise.

Easy, straightforward check in, our car registration was logged into the system to allow free parking. The room was just fine with a comfy bed, easy to control heating, good blackout curtain lining. We had a shower over the bath. We chose to have the half board option, evening meal was spot on both starter and main course. Breakfast, full english, so nuff said. Fried or poached eggs are available to order. Scrambled are standard. Friendly, welcoming staff, everyone said hello and were polite. Altogether great.
