I have stayed in many Accor chain hotels with business, this was my first stay in this particular hotel for leisure with my family prior to a flight from Manchester to Orlando the next morning. We were very disappointed with the whole experience from checking in to checking out, took a while for us to be attended to at reception for check in, zero help with bags to the room, long waits at the bar area and to order food, noise all night (possible other guests and staff) which meant a poor nights sleep with having to leave at 5.30am the next morning, came out of the room next morning to sick over the carpet floors in the hallway and when raised all of the above at checkout there was zero interest from the colleague who just took the key. As an Accor silver member the complete experience was very disappointing. I would like to be contacted directly to raise this as a formal complaint.

Service at reception and bar is generally not a area renowned for slow service but accept that delays can happen at peak service times and apologise for any inconvenience caused As a gesture of goodwill and as a token of my regret I have today added 200 bonus points to your Accor Hotels Le Club account. A decent night stay at the Mercure Altrincham

So I booked into this hotel as I was attending Creamfields Festival, which was about a 20 min drive. The hotel was very well-priced when I booked (with free cancellation), and I was happy with how my stay ended up. Pro's: Close to the festival; Rooms had tea/coffee facilities, TV, plenty of pillows, bedside tables, cupboard for clothes, shelf near front door, obviously the toilet, shower, sink, full-front mirror view + extended arm mirror; Free use of the pool + jacuzzi, sauna, gym (small, but they have one), treatment rooms etc; breakfast. Con's: Breakfast is priced at £10 if booked a day in advance, otherwise it's £13.95. What you get in the hotel's dining room is a moderate selection of breakfast foods. On the right is cereal boxes, fruit, pastries (the mini ones). To the left is milk, apple, orange juice jugs. Bit further on (left) is the tea/coffee facilities, and at the end is the hot food area, so your English breakfast (egg, bacon, sausage etc) + toast options with condiments. The tables are presented well with slate tray areas and the staff are always happy to help you if you need anything. Breakfast runs from 7am - 11am (different on bank holidays). Is it worth £10? Depends how much you eat, but I ate light, so no. There is a gigantic Tesco Extra about a 5 min drive away though. Con's: Shower. I don't know if it was me not figuring it out, or the room, but it was hard for me to get a warm/hot shower during my stay. I followed the instructions on the wall (turn taps on, adjust temperature, pull plug down (located where the tap is) to turn on the shower head above. But the temperature gauge ranged from 30 - 42, and sometimes got a bit stuck, so remember to click the black button to unlock. Selecting 42 for the hottest temperature only gave me lukewarm water, so I just had to roll with it. Con's: Shower edges / windows: Being picky here, but there was a bit of black gunk in the corners. I know it's hard to remove, so I didn't mind it & it definitely didn't impact my stay in the room, but worth pointing out. Windows: My room was on the front side of the hotel, so during the evenings / nights, I could hear the traffic. Technically I could have closed the window, but I needed as much air con as I could, because of the very hot weather over the weekend. Overall, a lovely hotel to stay in for Creamfields, and one I'd recommend to anyone thinking of staying here for it. If you're not into Creamfields and still want to visit Altrincham, this hotel is easily signposted and right by the city centre. Manchester Airport is close by, with the hotel providing assistance for queries in regards to airport transportation and general enquiries. Would def recommend staying here!

The hotel location was perfect for us but it was let down by not having any Air conditioning , especially given the rise in temperature in the UK these days. This was a deal breaker for us and not acceptable for a hotel similar to Mercure standards. The service was good and the rest of the room condition was alright. Albeit this hotel needs some immediate TLC.

Hotel looked lovely on arrival but inside is exceptionally dated and tired. Check in was fine and staff friendly but the room felt like I was in the bowels of the hotel and the carpet and stair edges down to to the room were frayed and raised so it was a potential trip hazard. The room wasn't well insulated so was noisy and there was a significant gap under the door letting in light and noise. The room however was clean and the bed comfortable. On my second night the key card ceased working and despite returning all the way to reception it still would not work and required a member of management to open the door for me after my third attempt to get it reset. On check out there was no member of staff available and no way of alerting anyone to my being there so had to just leave the key and hope everything was taken care of in terms of checkout as had a taxi waiting. The location of the hotel is excellent but for the money and given the brand name, the whole experience was disappointing and I will actively seek alternative accommodation for my next visit which will be soon as I am frequently visiting the area for work.

Seriously in need of a revamp

From the outside the hotel is great but inside it is tired and shabby with bits of tatty carpet and raised stair edges. The keycard to the room ceased working entirely on the second night meaning no less than three return trips to reception and still not resolved so had to be let in by a member of staff. The rooms are pretty noisy so if ever a refurb is done then soundproofing should be high up on the list. Upon leaving there were no staff to be seen at reception and no buzzer to alert anyone so had to just leave the key on the desk and hope this was satisfactory.

Thank you for taking the time to complete both the Accor questionnaire and for this review. Have noted your points and will discuss with the owners of the hotel. Assume you departed quite early and possibly the night porter was away from the desk helping another client but yes all was satisfactory

Room service good staff excellent food average but well presented price a little high. Bathroom needs a lot of work floor tiles broken and loose, safe not working in room, floor in room sloping and dipping down. No clear way to fire escape. Plus being old no lifts too many stairs

This place is in a terrible state. We arrived late so it was too late to change hotels . We couldn’t believe how tatty and dirty the place was and said to each other , this is two stars at a push, I actually dropped that down to one the next day. I only booked cos I trusted it was a mercure hotel so assumed it wouldn’t be of a decent standard , so I will not be trusting mercure again. I ask for a partial refund the next day the lady in reception said that she could only give me £20 back as the manager was not there and only he could authorise more and he would contact me the next day and he did not . I can’t belive mercure is associated with such a place and I will be making a formal complaint

Very impressed overall 3rd time of staying here the hotel & spa are good value for the money. My only reason for 99% was every time our room was serviced they only left one bath & one hand towel, which was rectified by reception staff.

I booked this trip and several more stays here back in May, when Accor were running a 30% off and free breakfast promotion, if you pre-paid. I then get told at reception that I'm booked on 'room only' terms and had to waste half an hour giving her all the booking reference numbers and then cart my laptop to the desk to show the original email offer. Eventually the management sorted it out and the following week they upgraded me to a bigger, better room with posh coffee machine, slippers, robe, etc. , which I thought was a nice touch.

We booked to stay the night prior to departing from manchester on holiday. We arrived and were checked into an extremely small room classed as "double" but was only set up for 1 person so had to first go to reception to ask for more towels/coffee etc. The bathroom was filthy and the bath had what looked like lumps of cement filler skimmed onto it. Our plan was to arrive at the hotel, get showered then go our for some dinner so we didn't go around the room "checking" everything as that's not something a guest should have to do. I wish we had!! The main light didn't work in the room and when I reported this to reception and the receptionist came up a few hours later to check he said that he would need to get a ladder to dismantle the setting and change the bulb so could we "make do" with the little bedside lights instead. We agreed as didn't want to cause hassle. When we got back later that night and went to bed my partner couldn't sleep due to the noise as we were right over the pool area and when he tried to close the massive window he found that the actual handle off the window wasn't there and the window had been pushed out and wedged out and there was no way of even bringing it closed. I work in Business Travel for CWT and had booked a CWT rate. I genuinely am shocked by this treatment. If this is how you treat somebody who books people into your hotels for a living then I dread to think how general customers get treated. I will not be recommending your hotel and will be talking to our Accor rep and letting them know about my expericence as it's really put me off and shocked me.
