I thought it was going to be nice as the photos looked as though it had been refurbished. I was wrong!! It was just a lick of paint and a different throw, that's all. The bathrooms were not refurbished and dated.

The staff were very nice and the room and hotel were all good. However we think our room was under a corridor or store cupboard or maybe just a noise family. From 6am there was a constant squeaking of floorboards that kept us awake. Room 61 :(

It was a good stay as we had a flight the next day from Manchester Airport. The rooms were quiet and the bed comfortable with my only gripe that the room was a bit cold. We did ask for the heating to be put on but this didn’t happen. My sons had separate rooms and their heating was on, so I just think an issue with ours but as it was only 1 night not a problem. We also stayed there on the way back from our holiday, as we arrived very early in the morning, before driving back to South Wales. Breakfast was great as well.

« Cold and noisy »

Although the room was clean and beds comfortable, we did not sleep well as there was no heating in the bathroom and a very cold draft blew under the door into the bedroom all night. Also found the hotel to be very noisy, from traffic outside and people passing our door after 2am, also better sound proofing would have prevented us hearing the people upstairs, who were clearly enjoying their stay.

Good parking, prompt check in. Good sized room, rather chilly and no heating available, bathroom and shower poor, made up for 1 person. Major downside, noise of footsteps late at night and in morning presumable from the stairs. Breakfast Ok. Overall not really a Mercure.

The room’s deco was old, very old. The telephone in the room looked like it was from the early 1980s. I thought maybe I can call Dr Who and he can whizz me off to a decent hotel. I specially reserved a superior room . What was superior? The fact that the bathroom had been renovated? I asked for an adaptor for the UK plug and was told that there was only one and it was it was on loan. I thought I was staying at an international hotel 15 mins from the airport? The Dutch girl at the reception then lent me her personal adapter for 2 hours. Thanks to her I could get some work done. The floorboards squeaked like mad whenever I moved around. All in all: really very poor and well below standard.

Room was very cold, but a fan heater was provided on request. A bit surprised that the hotel does not operate individual climate control in the rooms. The bed was not comfortable at all, mattress was dated and needs changing. Breakfast was ok.

Rooms are in poor condition and not what you would expect of a Accor branded hotel. I had to change rooms 3 times as tv not working and ended up in a single room when I had booked & paid for a double . Food was hit & miss to the point I sent 2 main courses back in one sitting & gave up making my starter £21 as purchased as Bed breakfast & evening meal. I feel sorry for the staff who seemed to be constantly dealing with complaints. Will not be returning

I have stayed many times before and my only issue is that the person working the bar has to leave the bar to give a food order to the kitchen and every time I have stayed it has meant people are left waiting at the bar and it leaves the bar person flustered and under pressure - this has laso led to food order being incorrect and disgruntled customers the bar person should not have to leave the bar to fulfil a food order

During the first night of our stay rain came through the ceiling of our room. It would appear that poor maintenance of the roof was the cause. We were moved to a second room (116) for the second night - room OK but the mixer tap on the shower/bath refused to provide hot water. Bathrooms of both rooms were in need of a good clean and mould removed from surrounds of bath. Generally the hotel is dingy and in need of a good update.
