We had a quiet room with two single beds. Although the lobby, lounge and dining room had been refurbished since our last stay some years ago, the bedroom itself was somewhat tired and in need of refurbishment too. The windows in the bathroom could not be opened. The staff were all friendly and professional. Breakfast was to a high standard with everything available. Tea and coffee was plentiful. Overall, I would say that we received value for money but the decoration of the bedroom let the hotel down.

This is the third time I have stayed at Mercury Bowden hotel. Room 129. But this time I was charged more when I asked at the reception I was told this was a superior room.. I don’t believe this to be the case as the two other occasions I have stayed I book a standard room and got the same room.

It was just adequate but most disappointed in bar service serving liqueurs in a tumbler and asking for at least a sherry glass to be told we don’t have them!

the room was very cold and lot of noise from the cars on the roads as the window was bad. the room was probably the worst one in the hotel and I was not upgraded. I will never recommend this hotel to anyone.

My whole family stayed for a 3 day family wedding close by. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. We were especially impressed with Albert the night porter/barman and thoroughly nice chap who was willing to help us with all of our needs and put up with our raucous behaviour after a few glasses of wine.

We have stayed at the Altrincham Bowdon quite a few times but never in such a "compact" double than 121 and for Mercure to charge the same rate as for a standard "Standard Room" was to say the least, disappointing. We appreciate we were almost last minute bookers, but... The bathroom was clean etc, but the air extractor did not work, the toilet seat was loose and there is no bathroom heater - fortunately it was not a cold night; all this realized only in the morning when it was clearly too late for the hotel to do anything. We did however give note at check out and we did receive a brief apology, but no indication that the matters would be passed on to "Management"

Restaurant food un-imaginitive. The Red wine card had been removed from the table menu as it appeared you had none in stock other than a bottle of Merlot that was mediocre to say the least. It's a pity as I have stayed before and had a much better experience last time.

Arrived and key wasn’t working and every time we needed to get in our room staff had to let us in. Ordered meal Friday night - was awful. Sweet potato fries were fried to a crisp. Salmon was supposed to be spiced and wasn’t and Caesar salad was a pile of soggy leaves. Left tray outside room. When we returned after midnight on Saturday night the room had not been cleaned. Bed was not made and dirty tray still left outside room.

Hotel is looking tired & needs a face-lift including getting a lift. Staff also need a training upgrade as some were very good & others did not care a jot. When I checked in all my details & booking details were correct & when I check out they had changed & I was over charged. The girl at reception did not know how to deal with the over charging & I had to wait over 15 minutes until someone did know how to sort it out & refund the difference, this was over £120 so not an insignificant amount. Had a coffee at the bar the previous evening & it was absolutely the worst cup of coffee I have ever had & the guy did not want, or did not want, to understand my complaint so I just walked away. Evening meal in restaurant was good as was breakfast.

I have stayed in many Accor chain hotels with business, this was my first stay in this particular hotel for leisure with my family prior to a flight from Manchester to Orlando the next morning. We were very disappointed with the whole experience from checking in to checking out, took a while for us to be attended to at reception for check in, zero help with bags to the room, long waits at the bar area and to order food, noise all night (possible other guests and staff) which meant a poor nights sleep with having to leave at 5.30am the next morning, came out of the room next morning to sick over the carpet floors in the hallway and when raised all of the above at checkout there was zero interest from the colleague who just took the key. As an Accor silver member the complete experience was very disappointing. I would like to be contacted directly to raise this as a formal complaint.
