Week 1 Overall the hotel was good but on the Wednesday 04/07/2018 the room was not serviced, from Monday the 02/07/2018 I requested a fan due to the heat i received this Thursday 05/07/2018. Week 2 Did not received the room that i requested but 2nd room OK. I booked in for this week beginning 16/07/2018 only to receive a phone call later to say there wasn't any room for me. So i booked in else where for this week and have booked with you from week beginning 23/07/2018 room 59 if this isn't changed.

One night in a tiny room (45) with nowhere to even put a suitcase, dirty windows, a noisy cooling vent immediately below, furniture that is worn out, carpets that are from another era, and simply no positives.

OK but the room was not serviced between our two nights. The plug in the basin was not large enough for the water to stay in so that made shaving difficult.

Clearly the recent spell of very hot weather has been the main cause of the heat in the rooms somewhat similar to our own homes but knowing the British this will no doubt change. I do accept that the entire building has been affected by the weather and whilst we have air conditioning in majority of public areas sadly there are no immediate plans to add this to bedrooms. I am travelling on business and therefore have different needs to a family or people travelling on holiday. This feels a hotel geared more to them. The restaurant serves excellent food, wine list is again aligned to the target customers. As a single person the options for glasses of wine is restricted. Rooms I'd suggest are dated versus current trends e.g. my preference is a walk in shower, versus shower over bath. However they are all clean, refreshed daily and housekeeping are diligent in what they do.

Dreadful experience. It took 24 hours to get hold of an iron, there was a £5 room service charge just to order a drink and I was charged just under £200 for a stay that I cancelled a week in advance based on my poor experience. The manager of the hotel wouldn't take my call so I had to deal with an inexperienced receptionist who wasn't capable of dealing with my complaint. This needs to be addressed. Very unhappy and will make sure that I publicise the facts.

We do try our best to supply irons etc but despite a good supply on occasions demand does exceed supply, I was made aware of some difficulty recently and bought 4 additional irons to resolve the issues recently experienced. I am not aware of any issue regarding a refund but assume you have made a pre-paid non refundable booking which does have various terms that you have agreed to hence the no refund position much the same as pre-purchased air or train travel. As a gesture of goodwill I would be happy to look at some form of discount associated to a future booking and ask that you contact me directly when you are planning a return. Stay was fine. The hassle I have getting missing invoices after the fact is really annoying. I cannot download them from the Accor site and I have to chase people fro them. I am beginning to get really sick of this

The staff were very pleasant, the room was very dissapointing. The room was clean, but the standard of the bathroom was disgusting, the window in the bathroom was totally rotted, the weather was very hot, we were unable to open bathroom window due to the condition.

The rooms do vary in size at the Mercure Bowden, but the room we were given on this occasion was very spacious and spotless as usual. Breakfast was great with plenty of choice.

Overall, my stay was ok. The staff at the hotel were all very friendly, helpful and professional. The rooms, however are quite dated and beds small. I did have one problem though: I deliberately searched for a hotel with air conditioning in order to ensure a cool room at night. The Mercure Altrincham's website specifically listed air conditioning as a feature of the hotel, so that is why I booked this hotel. However, my room did not have A/C and the manager informed me that the hotel had A/C in common areas (bar and restaurant) but not in the actual rooms. He was able to find a fan for me but overall this was extremely disappointing and I slept quite poorly due to the extreme heat over my weekend stay. Please remove this misleading information from your website so that future travelers are not led astray as I was.

The stay was quite comfortable but I think that the shower in our room needs to be adjusted as it was near impossible to adjust the hot water. At night we couldn't use the shower because it was too hot and quite dangerous. In the morning it was slightly better but a cool shower was impossible.

Comfort, good staff and WIFI, but the room was very hot and the window hardly able to open a little and no fan was available in such a big hotel chain. Also there are no lift, was unable to sleep for 3 nights due to hot weather and no ventillation.

There were a few issues. The room had been booked for 2 but there was only 1 mug and 1 set of towels. We also had to ask for coat hangers as there were none in the room. We were given a wifi code for 1 night instead of a few days. The room was exceptionally hot (although we appreciate it was very hot weather)

« I thought the hotel was fine. Your staff was helpful but there were not enough of them, »

The staff was very accommodating for the reason we were there, a family funeral. They were great about serving us in the bar even after it was closed. The hotel was fully booked but you were great about letting my cousins stay in my room providing us with what we needed. The phones did not work so we could not call other family members in their rooms and we were traveling with some elderly people.

Having stayed there several times before we knew what to expect and it was as we thought. Good value ideally located for us on our way back from Scotland. Leisure club very useful for us to recharge after a long drive. We always love the restaurant and indeed with fewer hotels having this facility these days we place a great importance on this aspect. Your's does not disappoint as it still retains white tablecloths that give it that classy feel.............do NOT do away with this is makes the restaurant look and feel a proper place to eat. The Menu has a good choice and the food was lovely. We will be back.

Completed a survey a few weeks ago. No change of note. Very satisfied although will ask for a room on the basement floor next time (Dunham suite or adjacent room)if possible as room 56 was a little noisy with the window open due to the hot weather. Found the stairs from rear entrance to reception a little difficult (partly disabled) to unload luggage. Will certainly return in the near future.

« Good standard hotel at a sensible price »

Although an old building the hotel is very clean with exceptional staff. The spa was an added bonus with a nice pool, sauna and steam room, we used it twice in just an overnight stay. The buffet style breakfast was fine although a little over cooked. Reception lad (can't remember his name) went out of his way to let us check in early.
