My room was clean and tidy with a comfortable bed and good shower. However the hotel itself is tired looking, with worn paintwork and carpeting. Plenty of car parking which was good. Breakfast in the morning was good with good choice of hot and cold continental options

« Nice hotel but slightly out of the way »

The hotel has quite a few amenities, which I did not use. The atmosphere in the lobby was very relaxed and the staff were helpful. I slept very well. The hotel is relatively close to the airport (by car/taxi, not walking distance) and roughly 15 minutes walk to Altrincham town centre, which was quite lively. From there one can catch a tram to Manchester city centre. The hotel itself, however, is not connected by public transport all that well, which is the only major shortcoming in my view.

Thank you for taking time to write this review and pleased that the hotel facilities were to your liking and that the team looked after you. Have noted your comments about transport links but possibly you missed both the local bus stop and Hale station. Hale station is just 500 meters from the hotel and whilst the service to Manchester is not quite as regular as the metro the line goes to both Manchester and Chester, the local bus (200 meters away) makes the journey into Altrinchan a little quicker than walking. A very comfortable one night stay in this hotel situated in lovely Hale and handy for exploring the local area. Friendly and helpful staff and well appointed throughout. Would definitely stay here again

« Worst Mecure I’ve used »

The room wasn’t the same as advised, we wanted a double room with the sofa, however what we were given was a double and a single bed in place of the sofa. We were on the basement level (same as rear car park) opposite to a maintence room and next to what sounded like a boiler room that really didn’t help when trying to sleep. The iron and ironing board was shown as available however I had to request these from reception. The board was terrible and had to place a towel so no to get dirt on my white shirt. The iron streamed water out of it so had to be swapped. Wall paper was coming away at the seams. Bathroom was actually okay but not to the Mecure usual standard that I’ve been used to in the last. Hand soap along with shower gel and shampoo was provided (small bottles). No batteries in the TV remote. Flat screen TV was small but okay. There was a lack of wall sockets. Only enough for the TV and one other item. What happens to sockets near the bed or extras for charging devices. The breakfast was very nice, with the egg made to order so everything tasted recently cooked. Big patch on the ceiling from what looked like a water leak. This hotel is in need of some TLC and a refresh. This hotel wasn’t even on par with a premier inn. Disappointing, I’ve in the past had excellent experience in Mecure hotels however on this occasion it failed to tick any boxes other than location for us.

In terms of my room I was satisfied with the quality and facilities vs. the price paid. However they could afford to look at temperature control as it was a little stifling with no option for the guest to control. In terms of the bar and restaurant I was not. The service in the bar was slow, this is due to no fault of the staff but the process of putting food and drinks on your room is archaic and something I would liken to a B&B instead of a hotel chain. One person behind the bar with this system is not enough as they are constantly running tickets to and from the kitchen leaving a queue of customers waiting. Experience of the food wasn’t great, I ordered a Chicken Tikka Massala one night priced at £12.95. For that price they could have at least ensured it was defrosted. I could have got something authentic and fresher in Altrincham for the same price and wish I had done on reflection. God forbid what a steak would have came out like if they can’t even get a ready meal right!

Had to run the gauntlet of 5 smokers (probably guests) on front steps to hotel. How awful. The leisure centre was disappointment. Equipment in a poor state and pool suffering a boiler breakdown. Facility poor. Rooms not soundproof enough. Very poor hearing others TVs.

As a non smoker myself I can fully understand the discomfort experienced at our front entrance despite signage and some management policing. Fully accept there was a rare boiler failure on the morning of the stay, we did have the facility of offering guests other rooms, in different parts of the hotel serviced by other boilers, to shower in and hope you took advantage of this. I do realise it is of little consolation to you now but the issue was quickly fixed and hot water restored before 9.00am. I do hope you may have the opportunity to stay with us again in the future when we will do or best to ensure you have both a comfortable and trouble free stay. Stayed one night ,room was excellent al be it a little cool for my partner. Room was clean of good proportions bed comfy what more does one need.Staff where all friendly and courteous.The breakfast if you book for it is excellent value good choice of hot food and decent selection of cereals fruit etc.

I had not been aware that the pool and spa area and the restaurant would be closed on the evening of our stay. I feel the hotel should have automatically informed everyone who booked for Boxing Day night that the facilities would be closed and should have given guests the option therefore to cancel - even on fixed deals. I had looked forward very much to using the spa area and my mother (who does not swim but fancied the idea of using the spa facilities) even purchased a swimming costume especially for the occasion but never got to use it.

I stayed in a twin room ( room 2) where one of the twin beds was sagging. Fortunately my husband had been unable to travel so I was able to avoid using that bed! My daughter & her husband were in the next room & said after we left that their duvet cover had a hole in it. However, as this hotel is very convenient to my other daughters house I will continue to visit if the price is not too high.

« pleasant stay close to relatives in area »

Although booked two rooms in October requesting Close proximity to each other rooms were far apart. Room allocated to myself on ground Floor was very nice but smelt strongly of paint. Changed room to basement and room not quite as nice. Furniture mis-matched, and matress worn. However room used as a base whilst visiting familiy and so was not quite so important. Very friendly and helpful staff and room clean. Good Quality towels and linen. Toilet seat broken. Enjoyed having tea/coffee-making facilities.

Room clean (though the radiator was loose on the wall and so near the bed I kept knocking it. The room had been recently decorated and the painters had left some of the old wall paper behind the radiator). Service in bar, reception and restaurant good. Reasonably quiet.

« Excellent stay on Christmas Night »

We stayed here on Christmas night after visiting relations. Had a lovely room, which was nice and warm. Breakfast was excellent, the restaurant was decorated with the red ponisetta plants on all the tables which looked really elegant. Will stay again when visiting. Only one disapontment the pool was not open

« Poor from start to finish! »

Probably the worst hotel experience I have ever had. Booked a double room was given a single. Had to go to the room twice (up 3 flights of stairs with 2 bags) before I was given the correct key. Asked to move room because I had booked a double bed and was then moved to a room which had just been painted so paint fumes all night long. I couldn’t have had a worse experience if I had stayed at fawlty towers!
