Very comfortable and quiet room, but the mixer tap for the bath and shower stuck on hot! Really hot, we informed reception. Very unsafe to be like this.

The room was lovely as always however it was very warm to the point we had to sleep with the window open in December and this was after we had turned the heating off. Also the window was an issue as it didn’t stay open and there wasn’t anything provided to keep it open with so we had to stick a towel under it

Very good staff, good breakfast. Booked 2 rooms, one was very spacious the other was very small, to be honest I find it hard to believe the small one was a deluxe room, can’t imag how small a basic room would be (room 118). Apart from that, the hotel was great

The room we were given was small the bed even smaller and very uncomfortable, pillow were flat and the room was stuffy had to open windows as could not sleep then we had the traffic & road noise to deal with

The room was nice but we were staying on a ground floor. Didn't think this would be an issue until the room above decided to walk around all through the night. The floorboards were very creaky and squeaky and kept us awake for a large portion of the night. Wish we had a upper floor. Didn't really have the energy to complain the next morning either.

Decor clean but a bit tired. Restaurant service a bit chaotic, the older waitress was doing most of the work while the younger ones didn't seem trained. Food was good when it arrived

Quick check-in and complimentary drinks - a great welcome. Very comfortable room though my wife found it hard to get the shower hot enough (sticky temperature control tap). Didn't eat in the hotel but the menu looked good. Have stayed here before and will definitely stay again.

« Simple hotel with kind staff »

The hotel is clean but no frills. Staff very kind and warm. It is quite noisy in room 104 . Throughout the two days we heard Irish music and taps from the Marlborough Suite and then music and very loud conversations and laughter well into the night from the restaurant. Also no lift should be well advertised for airport travelers - dragging suitcases up the steps not fun!!!!

I was just there overnight as I was flying out from Manchester Airport the following day and the stay was reasonably okay. If using SatNav, there has been a new road layout and so you will get lost. The hotel could help by providing directions to guests. There was also a disconnect between the customer service information that I received by email and what was actually delivered at the hotel. For example, I was told that I could check in online which could save me time on check-in, that the key would be waiting for me and that I would be a key drop on checkout. This was not the case. When I checked in online I had to pay the bill and the system asked me for the security code of my credit card. I paid it. However, on arrival, I was told that the amount was outstanding. As I was paying it, I told the guy that I already paid it online but he said the system was acting up, so I paid it. It was the usual check-in, no key was waiting for me as the marketing spiel promised. On checkout, there was no fast track checkout to just drop the key and go. I was told that the amount for the stay was now due and I had to pay it. I declined and told the staff member that I had already paid it twice before and I would not be paying it a third time. She had to consult with a colleague before allowing me to leave the hotel. I've just checked my credit card statement. It's been charged only once. I've stayed at AccorHotels in Rome, Vienna and Marseille before this. With the exception of Marseille, there were problems. In Vienna even though paying for room + breakfast we were denied breakfast and told that we had to pay for it as it was not registered on the system. I declined as we had paid a lo of money for our 10-night stay. So I was barred from entering the restaurant. The boisterous staff member created a scene. People in the restaurant started to stare which was doubly uncomfortable for my wife and I as we were the only two Black people there. I've not written reviews on Vienna or Rome because I opted to take it up directly with the hotel management in both cases directly. I've also had a problem in converting my AccorHotels reward point to Avios. I was given misinformation by AccorHotels customer services who eventually told me to raise it with British Airway directly. I did. And as usual, BA's supreme customer service was extremely helpful and untangled the AccorHotels web for me. I am an Executive Club member with BA and they know how to treat their loyal customers. AccorHotels has a brand that I had considered to be reputable and that is why I chose it for my stays over the last few years. After Mercure Altrincham Bowdon Hotel, I'm thinking that I will not be staying with the chain again. I recognise that there are probably 100,000s of guests out there whose experience has been superb. But this has been my experience with the chain and, at their requests I've given them the benefit of the doubt. I continued to book them but each time there continue to be issues. The quality of service in the hospitality industry has changed dramatically over the years. Perhaps it's just me for expecting the same level of service of yesteryear and I need to temper my expectations.
