Arrived mid morning and was warmly welcomed . I asked if an upgrade was available due to my membersnhip status-- as i always do. and was surprised the discussion was about view or floor height for the upgrade. No other Accor hotel we stayed in - 5 over the last 2 months in Europe were prepated to do tnis this at all. Shown to a beautifully appointed room with all the modern mod cons in the room and bathroom😉. Staff throughout the hotel; reception, bar, restaurant, porter, were friendly , polite and professional. Breakfast was beautifully presented with all the usual suspects present. Good coffee. Excellent location with the opera house for a neighbour , park on doorstep, and pedestrian mall behind. Congratulations. Would love to return.

« Bit disappointed with some aspects of my stay which did not meet expectations »

My room was nice and the service in the bar was friendly, professional and attentive - excellent. However, my check in experience was disappointing: it was not especially warm or welcoming and I was not given the usual voucher for my welcome drink, or details of how to log on to email, which I had to ask for separately. I did online check in and check out, and on check out had to chase for my invoice which was not sent automatically by email as it should have been.

My partner and I stayed at Sofitel Frankfurt Opera during last weekend for a romantic getaway. The hotel itself is nice but we weren't overly impressed since there were way too many issues. Check-in was quick and easy. Drink voucher was given spontaneously and it was usable for champagne which was nice. Room upgrade wasn’t mentioned so I asked about it. We then got upgraded from superior to luxury room. No thank for loyalty. I'm Le Club Gold member. Room was comfortable and spacious. However, it was on the first floor. We prefer high-floor as can be seen in my Le Club profile. The room provided all the basics such as king size My Bed, Illy coffee machine, mineral water, and Hermés amenities. Luggage rack was rather small, not much use of it. Our Rimowa couldn't be opened when using the rack. The bathroom included huge walk-in shower and bathtub. Floor tiles were disgustingly dirty with dry marks. Not sure what they were. Neither was welcome gift nor welcome card delivered to our room. I had to ask for it – twice, first at 6pm. Front desk agent promised to send us ”something.” He didn’t apologize and finally at 8pm, two hours after my first contact, a few pieces of chocolates were brought. To be honest, at this point we expected something little bit more. Turndown service wasn’t done properly. One mat was left on top of the bed and another one beside bedside table. We had to place them by ourselves. Next day housekeeper refused to refill toiletries during turndown service. Called to front desk and problem was solved. I reported this to guest relations manager who send us fruit platter as compensation. Again, pretty modest gesture. We had breakfast, lunch and dinner at the hotel. At breakfast, the service was as slow and clumsy as in restaurant school. A few examples: * Waiter poured orange juice and then asked if we want to have it (we prefer grapefruit juice). * Coffee order wasn’t taken (we had to request it). * Coffee was brought without cups (there were none on table). * Asked hot milk, received cold – every morning. * Buffet selection was limited but one could order hot dishes from breakfast menu: when hot dishes were brought, used cutleries were taken away but new ones not given in return (again, had to request them). The service was more professional in the evening and food tasty if somewhat pricey. Room service was quick and it had decent deal. The spa had two sides: one for hotel guests only and another for public gym. The public area had swimming pool and two saunas but it was very busy and not relaxing at all. Hotel’s spa had relaxation room, dry sauna and steam room (that was out of order). It was peaceful and private, luxurious. In the last evening we requested late check-out. Front desk agent had to ask from his manager. He offered 2pm. ”After that you have to pay.” I said I’m Gold. Agent went back to the manager and returned offering 3pm. I asked for 4pm (many hotels offers proactively 5pm and 6pm) which they tried not to accept but gave it finally after I pointed out that the hotel were still selling luxury rooms so the hotel wasn’t full. So, why it was this difficult? Check-out took 20 minutes and I don’t exaggerate. Happy with the stay? Unfortunately not. What we experienced isn't acceptable for a five-star luxury hotel carrying Sofitel name.

I’m afraid we were slightly disappointed. Location was fantastic and park scenery was a 5-star experience but inadequate AC in a luxury hotel when outside temperature is 30 degrees C was a negative surprise. Check out was not a success, I was asked to pay Tourist tax 4€ per person per night although at the check in we were informed tax is 2€ per person per night. Finally we paid 2€/person/night. 2 or 4 euros is not so important but I was not happy with the way this was handled.

Everything was great until we asked for a 7:00 TAXI to the airport only to find that our luggage had been loaded into a much more expensive private car service. If I wanted a car service, I would not have asked for a TAXI and it insulting to be told by your staff that it is the same price. 10 euros may not seem to be a substantial difference, but after 6 weeks on the road, it all adds up. Also, it should not have taken 20 minutes to find us a room with a bath tub.

Nice room, some very helpful staff, but a number of shortfalls: Check-in took too long, check out was troublesome as apparently the organizer of the conference was paying my bill which was incorrect. When I wanted to pick up my bag from storage I was given three bags which weren't mine. That you couldn't find my shoes which I had placed outside my room for cleaning didn't help under the circumstances. My shoes are still lost, thankfully I had taken along another pair. That the internet didn't work in one of the conference rooms didn't help either. The gym would be appropriate for a 3 star hotel.

I am enjoying staying at the Sofitel Opera and it was my 3rd stay. The location is perfect, the view on the garden as well, the rooms are nicely designed and bedding comfortable. The breakfast quality is good but assortment (e.g no granola, berries) is more limited compared to other hotels like Villa Kennedy, Steigenberger or Roomers where I alternatively stay. The fitness room lack swiss medicine balls and machine for sits-ups, though the machines themselves (Technogym) are high quality. But the main reason for my rating is the unfriendliness at the SPA, where I was talked to in an unfriendly way for trying the cosmetics samples, and felt generally unwelcome which is a first for me in an hotel of this standing.

It was good. Room overall was comfortable and convenient, nice view. Nice touch with welcome amenity of chocolates, water and personalized card. Too many cards/ collateral on bed. Bathroom floor looked soiled (not sure if it is the wear/ material). No bathtub which I found odd and gym facilities were not good for the level of hotel. AM front desk were extremely helpful and very nice versus PM front desk when checking in.
