« Polite but inexperience staff that is unclear of their work. »

The toilet bowl was not stable as it came out before we checked in, rain shower not working ... check in staff was inflexible in checking in tine for guest as we had to wait till 330pm to check in .. collected tax when checking in and still asked us to pay again after we wanted to check out. Told them they made a mistake and no apology when they realised it. Felt awful when I left.

« Second Time At Novotel Malacca »

It was the second time I stayed at Novotel Malacca. For the second time I did not get a connecting room despite specifying for it when checking in on the smartphone app. Breakfast was terrible, no kitchen or waiters were around when we went down at 6.30am, the only person there was the counter guy. The kitchen staff were available from 7.15am onwards.

Rooms were comfortable. Pillows were quite worn out. All is fine except Front office staff were quite a screw up as I have to keep repeating the same answers to the same questions by 5 different persons! This was the only frustration we had. All due to my extension stay. We had try to extend our booking online prior to checking in through email but no reply from reservations until the day we check in. Details as below. First day checking in, spoke to all 4 staff on duty. 3:30pm: Upon checking in, I had to double check with the staff whether the extension night was the same rate and he said yes and I have also informed him if our check out date. Only one room was ready and we had to wait till 4:30pm for the last room to be ready. Thought Rooms should be well ready upon check in at 3pm? Evening: We received a call that our extension night rate was not the same. Was told to go front desk. There's this Indian lady I met said she will honour the same rates. However require my credit card which I gladly head back to my room to collect and came down immediately. However, she did not serve me knowing I was there and her colleague, a matured Malay man took over instead and again asked me the same thing. At this point, I noticed that there was a family rate promotion with the 2nd room at half price and asked him about it but his initial reply was that I have to ask reservations?? But you're the front line personnel? My reply was that upon checking in, staff should realised that it was a family travel and in my email has stated clearly as well but why front desk did not recommend about this promotion? If you are going to advertise it all around the hotel, front desk should be aware and honour this promotion to guests and not hide about it or push to reservations. Thereafter he honoured the rates and the promotion after I have reason this out with him. Happily I thought all is settled on my first day. 2nd day, I had to change my key because they did not update it. Last day, When it came to checking out which took half an hour, the front office staff were totally a whole new group from the first day. The young malay guy who checked us out I believe were not duly informed by the team of the first day and therefore asked me everything again. However, he was patient and kind only just had some miscalculations that I had to assist him. To sum it all, first day front office staff were inexperienced and irresponsible. It seems they were just passing me to one staff to another. Well, I have to say your housekeeping staff made up for the bad experience we had with front desk. They were some of the best I've encountered, even better than Westin Kl that I recently stayed. They were courteous and friendly and attentive. Compliments to especially I think it's this tall Malay young guy who can speak good english, cheerful and was very attentive to guests needs: he even took the initiative to show how the shower curtain works for my parents after hearing we have problems while we were chatting about it and offered his help. A pity we didn't manage to get his name. He and another shorter guy greeted us once they saw us with a big smile. They are the kind of persons that represents your brand! I really hope you groom those young chaps well as I think they can be very good front liners. And by the way your shampoo and body soap packaging looks better and nicer to use than Westin Kl and courtyard Marriott Singapore that we stayed recently.

overall is good, the are few points need to point out:- 1) I having my breakfast about 7:30am. We are almost the first batch guest having breakfast, but the table still have some breadcrumbs on the dinning table. not sure is from the night before??? 2) Your cashier and reception suppose to email me my receipt under my company name "Great Skills Sdn Bhd". But after 7 days, still no sign of your official receipt.

The experience was good. The ambient was warm and relaxing. The only setback is the twin bed which is not a super single bed. Most hotel have single bed that is super single.

Overall the room was clean and nice only thing the amenities where there is no lotion and conditioner provided where other Novotel hotels have that. Besides that the toilet is wet with some water there. There are not much choices of food as well. Another comment during the check out where the points took so long to settle and they should not let customer wait so long.

I got this one Suite for the three of us. It was a great price and close to shops and the Mall. The staff were friendly & helpful. The room was huge and had all the amenities one could need during their stay. Nice big swimming pool too. We were on the 18th floor with a view of the City (Room 1822). I must say that Novotel has managed to keep up its standards from then till now, as far as I can see. Service at the reception and at check out was fast and efficient, hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and the response to requests from the housekeeping department was very prompt.The standard room that I stayed in was comfortable, clean and very well maintained.Otherwise, I was pretty impressed by the bathroom. Shower water pressure was excellent, and with very good temperature control, so that you don’t have to take a long time fidgeting the knob just to get the perfect temperature. Water drainage was very efficient both in the bathtub and in the shower cubicle. These details matter a lot so that one has an enjoyable shower and bath experience. Thank you so much to Amirul, Iskandar, Mus and all team members make my stay so wonderful.All these details, in my opinion, combine to make a stay in Novotel most pleasurable, and I wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again given the chance.

Location was central, check-in was fuss free was due to being Accor member. Only issue was the room card was deactivated immediately at 12 noon on check-out day, so there was a bit of hassle trying to get back to retrieve something.

The staff at the front desk and concierge are very well trained and friendly. We are pleasantly surprised that our room has a complimentary plate of chocolates and strawberry to welcome us. However to our horror, the strawberry was already rotten and we did not even bother removing the wrapper. Thanks but no thanks.

Not bad this trip to novotel Melaka. Upgraded to club floor. Reception should know I’m silver member should give welcome drink coupon. But don’t give until I ask for it. Other novotel silver member Room prepared fruit etc. novotel Melaka I stayed so many times dint receive any fruit. The parking should not asking hotel guess put deposit at the parking counter. Hotel should give the acess card during check in return the card to hotel during check out. Mayb can have a live band in lobby during evening time since you have a place for drinking. Just suggestion. Thanks
