What a delightful surprise, Mechelen. A beautiful city, very friendly locals and the Mercure Mechelen Ve. The staff were all very friendly and provided excellent customer service. The de oe complemented the origins of the building , giving a glimpse into the past. Breakfast was excellent. The rooms very clean and comfortable.

« Stay was good however misery started right after! »

The stay was good, however there's a story that I would like to share. I booked a Taxi for 6:15 AM (29th Apr) through the hotel on 28th Apr. I had a train from Mechelen to Antwerp and then a Thalys from there to the Schipol, thereafter a flight to India. The taxi did not turn up in the morning! And there was no other Taxi available before my train timings (7 AM was enough of a buffer, I thought). I decided to walk to the station in the absence of another option. Walking in the cold at sub-zero temperature dragging a suitcase on cobble-stone roads was not fun. Had to stop numerous times as my hands were freezing. After lot of struggle, stress and pain(physical and mental), I reached the station and by the time I reached the platform, the train doors closed on me, right in front of my eyes. Then I had to reschedule my train journey by shelling around 39 Euros extra. Then the connections were not working out, and after rescheduling I did not get a seat. I was standing near the door for the entire journey from Antwerp to Schipol. ... and I reached Schipol just an hour before the flight departure. There I was at the airport, for the second time on the same day, running with my luggage across the airport. Needless to say, Schipol is quite a huge land-mass of travelers buzzing around like bees! Finally I boarded the flight, perhaps as the last passenger; with the gates closing behind me. Sweaty, tired, stressed out. Although this is no fault of your staff or the hotel directly, thought would let you know because sometimes some small actions can have profound impact (Butterfly effect?). Ultimately as a customer I will remember the stress the Taxi not turning up caused me rather than the 4 good days of the stay I had at the hotel.

All the staff are friendly and helpful and the food in the restaurant is outstanding. Rooms are well equipped and comfortable. The checking in and out process was also very efficient. Overall a very pleasant stay making the Hotel Vé my first choice venue when I'm staying in the area.

I stay regularly in this hotel. The staff were helpful as ever. Had a problem with the room because someone had been smoking in it but fortunately was offered another room quickly. Had to move again as that room was occupied by someone else but all well after I got another room. Breakfast was good and the lady in the breakfast room was very kind and helpful.

Cozy hotel in the middle of Mechelen. Standard hotel not to cheap, with confortable rooms. Service was good and very well located just beside dowtown. Groth market just a few minutes distance. Room cleaning could be improved.

« Friendly, clean, good value for money. »

Very friendly team on arrival and during the morning breakfast and check out. The rooms are clean and very big / spacious, not over designed however the TV (satelite / connectivity) wasn't working, nor was the coffee machine despite following exact instructions, starting and re-starting. Breakfast was very tasty with fresh egg choices cooked at the counter and full continental selection. Overall a modern and comfortable hotel.

« Plusses and minuses »

On the plus side: 1. Proper coffee machine 2. You replaced the bottled water - most hotels just give you one bottle 3. Nice chocolate 4. Big room On the minus side: 1. Cold - the air conditioning did not work and it wouldn't produce any heat 2. Lighting is dingy 3. Safe was locked on arrival so I had to wait 30 mins for reception to get a code. I realised when I left why it was like that. The safe was not on a level angle so when unlocked the door swung right out - the only way to stop this would be to lock it which is clearly what the previous occupant did.

nice re constructed building with wide and nice rooms. A SPA completes the every good experience. Staff very firendly. Located inthe town center, diffucult to reach with your own car but call the hotel and the staff will give some good hints on how to reach the closest parking.

The reception was very friendly The room was comfortable and the venue has a nice ambiance and good story to it. The breakfast was according to expectations It is a shame that as a member of Accor I have to (very often with Mercure) chase for adding my points to my account. This is admin I do not want to be bothered with.

« Couldn't have asked for more »

There was no aspect of our stay which failed to meet our expectations. The hotel has made the most of some interesting, historic buildings and sound-proofed them (just as well given the rock concert round the corner)! The staff were kind and attentive. The food was excellent if, on one occasion, rather slow to arrive (as a result of a huge volume of customers all descending at the same time). We would most certainly recommend the hotel to friends and family.

« Rooms big but service level not OK »

I am always asking in advance for a room not on the street and again got one on street with noise of tourists in the night or waste bins in the morning. Always waiting very long at reception for any request at any time of the day (only one person available to serve drinks and do the check in) - 3 times I come in last weeks, 3 times the same... Person to serve breakfast very nice and helpful but choice limited (no earl grey tea, almost only apples in fruit salad, tables not well cleaned, another person going through breakfast room with bucket for the cleaning of the floor to store it in the kitchen or don't know where ....). Rooms Ok when on the new refurbished side but bad small in the rooms above reception

« Beautiful hotel in the middle of the city »

Had a 5 days stay with my family and enjoyed the hotel which serves a great breakfast and is located in the middle of the city where lot's of restaurants are available. The check in was not very smooth, it does happens sometimes that you have an issue at a hotel. But beside the check in no major issue was observed. One of the cons is that no carpark is available, but for EUR 18/day, a carpark nearby (2 minutes walk) will do the job. As a platinum memebr, the perks/extras given are limited, but I noticed in Europe this is rather common.

The hotel is very nice and the location is very convenient. Unfortunately as a platinum member I feel that not much perks or attention is given. The beginning was a bit of a disaster, we arrived after 3pm and were told our rooms were not ready (we booked and prepaid the rooms months in advance). Strangely, the 2 guests in front of us checking in got a room. We arrived after a 7 hours long drive and the weather was rather hot. Anyway, they got the first room ready and asked us to go first to this room. While waiting in the room, we got nu updates about the second room. Went downstairs to ask and was told it was ready. Should have informed us. Went to the second room and noticed that the key didn't work, asked my family to wait in the corridor with the bags(which was hot due to the weather) while I ask them to fix the key. Once we got the key issue fixed, we entered the room and noticed it was very hot. We tried to switch on the aircon but after 1 hour the room was still very hot. Obviously the aircon didn't work. Went to the reception again and informed them. They offered another room, this time not a twin bed but a king size bed, better this then no aircon. So it was a small disaster and the staff, in this case only one person was attending to all matters (clearly understaffed on that day) needs to learn to think about the wellness of the guests first. This is something that has to improve. What we also want to highlight is that during our stay, once the room was not been cleaned and twice the coffee, tea and water was not been topped up. The breakfast is great and the lady serving us was doing a very good job. One more thing, you have very nice bathrooms, but no space to hang the towels to dry and to put our toiletries. Would be nice to improve this. Otherwise, we had a great stay in beautiful rooms, but as mentioned before, would be nice to give the guests some attention as well.
