« Very enjoyable stay »

My stay was very pleasant from start to checkout. This was my second stay at the Hotel Mercure London Bloomsbury. It is a smart and comfortable hotel, situated halfway between Holborn and Russell Square underground stations. Service was excellent as was the extensive buffet breakfast.

« One night only »

I stayed at Mercury only one night and fully enjoyed it. The reception staff was nice and helpful. My room was small and with a view to a small street and a fire escape staircase. I had everything I needed in my room: a coffee machine, bottles with still water and full equipment to wash my body. So I slept very well despite having visited Marco restaurant before.It belongs to Mercury and serves excellent food. Following the night I celebrated my breakfast and off I went to my duties!

Please find the emails below: Dear Mr. Dumont Thank you for the news email. After prudent investigation, we refuse to pay the bill you mentioned regarding Mr.L.'s room charge. The reason is as follows: Firstly, NO EVIDENCE shows Mr. L. is personally responsible for this leakage. In fact, Mr. L. communicated with hotel reception staff on Day 1 when we arrived at Mercure on Sep 4th, regarding the faucet problem in the toilet. Faucet is NOT working properly in Room 308. It is absolutely unreasonable to conclude that the leaking is due to Mr. L.'s fault. Secondly, Mr. L. expressed his willingness to assist you and involve in the leakage investigation on Sep 7th morning but was informed that relevant hotel personnel will investigate on their own. It is UNFAIR to deprive the concerned parties of the right to learn the truth. We don't even know how you determine the cause of this accident, which also disturbed Mr. L.'s stay at your hotel severely. Finally, the 600 pound you mentioned is absolutely unreasonable. No explanation and details given on how this fee is calculated and whether this leaking actually caused the rooms on 1st and 2nd floor unsold. It is not a proper way to treat oversea customers to charge such a fee without clear notification and explanation. If necessary we will negotiate this matter with you through Chinese embassy, which will inevitably cause the negative impact on your hotel reputation. Please reconsider the handling of the matter. Staff did not seem very confident or conversant with detail. Lack of training perhaps.High turnover? At breakfast we were never offered toast, perhaps a toast machine in the dining room is the answer. The fruit juice glasses were not reachable if somebody was waiting for their cups of coffee to pour. Foods ran out at breakfast but no staff noticed. Room cleaned well but bath soap, shampoo and milk not replaced when they ran out.

the experience was fine, exactly as expected was able to check in at 1.00pm which was really helpful nice room, very quiet, coffee machine didn't appear to work, and the pods were decaf :-) but not a major isssue. would use the hotel again.

All staff were helpful and amiable. Bathroom very small and who on earth would put a shower head in the corner (and a warning that there was no bath when booking would have helped).

« Nice hotel with a few issues »

Overall, the hotel is lovely and the staff we dealt with were professional and friendly. However, we had three issues. First, our room keys stopped working repeatedly. Everyday, when we went out and came back, we had to get our keys reset at the reception desk. It was a minor inconvenience but it became more frustrating each day. Second, we found that the breakfast room was very cold. Also, the wifi was very unstable.

The staff were very helpful and friendly, the room was clean and tidy, but small. The bathroom was not organised very well, the toilet was positioned very close to the towel rail and could only be used at an angle.

We were sorry that we didn't have time to see you before our departure to thank you for an exceptional stay at London Bloomsbury. When we stayed last time and were asked for feedback we provided out thoughts in hopefully a constructive way, most times you then receive back a standard response generated in a very corporate non personal way. This was certainly not the case with you, you welcomed us upon our arrival and had arranged certain upgrades that made our stay much more enjoyable, the emphasis that you put on customer service and ensuring that everything was to our satisfaction was superb and refreshing in a large hotel chain. The restaurant food was brilliant and a special mention to Francesco who was very attentive and efficient as well as very personable. Overall the staff were superb and we will be returning to you in November for another visit.
