« Great central location but extremely noisy. »

The hotel was in a great location 5 minutes walk from the city centre an around the same to the Motorpoint Arena, the train station is within 10 - 15 minutes walk depending on the person or a 1 stop team ride the the lace market stop which stops 100 yards in front of the hotel near sainsburys. The biggest problem with the hotel is the noise with being so close to the university and all the bars all the noise light at night and into the early hours was very loud although the hotel did give ear plugs in the room. The breakfast from the hotel was mediocre at best even with the room service option, the majority of the food on the first morning in the breakfast room was cold, the bacon an sausage were very hard and looked and tasted like they'd been there a while. The room service breakfast didn't fair much better things were missing from the order and by the time the staff had been an got them most things were inedible this included basic breakfast items such as butter for the toast, also there were several items on the list of choices that the hotel didn't have, they also sent up pecan swirls instead of pan au'chocolat which for someone who is allergic to nuts could of been a serious problem. On the whole the reason for giving a score of 4 were the amazingly helpful reception staff they couldn't have been more helpful, if you had a problem it was dealt with promptly.

« An experience I would repeat. Money very well spent! »

A great hotel, situated in the town centre with a short walk to the Motorpoint Arena, which was great for us. The staff were polite and courteous. The hotel and rooms were spotlessly clean and well equipped. Next morning we were greeted by cheerful staff in the dining room, and breakfast was absolutely delicious! We would definitely recommend this hotel to others, and definitely stay again ourselves! Thankyou!

« A satisfactory stay in a good location for the city. »

The room was comfortable and clean, although quite small, with good bathroom facilities. The Staff were exceptionally good, friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was rather limited in choice, particularly for those wanting just a continental style breakfast. The orange juice ran out completely (there is a Sainsburys Local just over the road), the coffee was lukewarm and milk was in short supply. Not good value at £9.95.

Never have I felt so claustrophobic. The floor was on a slant. No room for clothes in wardrobe due to fact it was used to house the iron and ironing board plus the condiments tray containing the kettle taking up one shelf.

We came for my mums 60th and stayed in one of your suites. The room was gorgeous but didn’t feel the toiletries were up to scratch as it stated ‘upgraded toiletries’ and we received Mercure own brand, would have expected more. Room service isn’t 24 hour which was annoying as it is in most hotels these days

« A lovely hotel in a great location »

Hotel and room was lovely. Very clean. We booked breakfast which was very tasty, but had to ask for orange juice three times , only to be told at the third time of asking that they had run out. Also had to ask three times for milk. They kept running out of the breakfast food, and although replenished this wasn't always at the same time, so we had to keep getting up for separate items. Food was being bought through in small amounts in plastic bowls. Quality of food was very good though, although youghurts and pastries ran out and were not filled up.

Hotel very nice. Quirky old building, beautiful staircase. Staff friendly, room comfortable & clean. Located just off The Lace Market so ideal for lots of venues. Didn't have breakfast so can't comment on that.
