Staff who greeted us on the front desk were lovely, the suite we had booked was quirky and cool with a very comfy bed and amazing bathroom.

Fantastic location great staff beds extremely comfortable great air con and fab shower , the housekeeping could have been better as carpet didn't look hovered in hallway of our room and the step behind the toilet door was very dusty also the t bags , soft drinks and toilet rolls weren't replaced daily, good quality breakfast but at 10.30 there were no Danish pastries left I asked and they were obviously not planning to cook extra although they said they could I think they should have been available as breakfast was until 11, also no full cream milk available for the coffee which I think for a four star hotel that's a basic I personally think that it would be better to have liquid soap as opposed to a bar as the bar we were using was replaced with a new one which is wasteful and liquid soap is more hygienic, having said all of the above I look forward to returning soon - thanks mercure nottingham !

Breakfasts good choice, well presented, staff very helpful. Once again fire alarm went off in the night, I understand a guest was smoking in his room. Reception staff generally good but occasionally chatting whilst guests waiting, not always customer focused.

I always enjoy staying at the Mercure but for the 2nd time now, I have been disappointed in the standard of the room. I was in 309. It’s going to sound very petty, but I’ll itemise which parts of the room need work. Bathroom door handle loose Toilet seat broken and coming off Sink mirror light broken Shower head corroded Shower door broken and fixed poorly Shower sink tray broken and water didn’t drain quick enough so I had to stop and start the shower multiple times I was in a king room and the bed was made from 2 bases and mattress with a topper connecting them. This meant I couldn’t comfortably sleep in the middle because of the ridge. If I am in a king room, I expect a king bed Fire alarm went off briefly at about 6 in the morning which sounded like a false alarm/malfunction

NEVER stay in this hotel in summer. So hot was like a sauna/ greenhouse. Aircon on all night bedroom still to hot.Would have stayed in ibis over the road.

« Disappointing compared to other hotels I’ve stayed in »

The room was tiny, there was dust on the shelf behind the bed and hanging from the ceiling, the bed sheet was short & didn’t reach the top of the bed. The fire alarm went off twice around 10:30pm. When I complained I was told it was the steam from the kitchen & it was too sensitive. The positives were the breakfast, the tea tray & water in the room & the air con. I wouldn’t stay here again.

Good breakfast but room was very small. Air conditioning very difficult to set which may explain why window was open. Rather bizarre decor which didn't please. Bar very dull.

The air conditioning was broken and we were not advised of this beforehand or even when checking in. The room was stifling and unbearable resulting in my husband and I feeling physically ill. I felt sick, almost fainted and had a headache. One bottle of warm water to share was the only thing on offer. The noise from outside was extremely loud and being unable to open the windows because of this made the room hotter. Again this was not advertised on the website or advised upon check in. The facilities were poor - stained bedding, tiny fan, broken hairdryer, dangerous flooring in the bathroom resulting in a fall, a bed which sank in the middle. Poor customer service during and after the stay. Breakfast was lacking with most food unavailable. When complaining we were just advised over and over again that a spare part had been ordered for the air conditioning. The rooms with broken air conditioning should have been closed and not available, especially at full price. We have contacted customer service since and their response was poor. Would not stay here again or recommend it. I have never experienced such a bad night sleep as I have at Mercure.
