« Great locations great quality and comfort »

Stayed for one night, rooms were very comfortable, the hotel generally was smart well presented and clean. The breakfast was good in the morning, it was in a great position for the theatre and the centre of town. Really happy with our stay and we will stay again.

« Lovely Room Restauarant a bit of a fiasco »

Have written to Mr Pringle seperatley. I did not mention I handed a list of my concerns to staff after dinner but none were addressed or mentioned when I checked out. They included. Barmaid on phone with back turned for 5 minutes while I waited. No wine list. Choice of only 3 reds and no prices. Ice in Brandy, 30 minute wait for food in empty restaurant, no teaspoon with coffee No sugar offered Unwanted ice in Brandy

« Lovely, historical, central Nottingham hotel »

I was pleasantly surprised by this lovely hotel. It is in the centre of Nottingham and has been very nicely refurbished to a high specification. The hotel is the oldest in Nottingham and has amazing features and a fabulous history to it. The room was super with great amenities. Very clean and well maintained. It is a great location if you are attending a concert at the Motorpoint Arena. The staff were lovely and it was amazing value for money too!

« An Enjoyable Visit »

We came to the Mercure for a 70th birthday which was very enjoyable . However we were not very impressed with the hot buffet & found the most popular dishes had almost run out by the time we went for our meal . Also the small breakfast room couldnt cope when so many people came down to breakfast at 9.am either in seating or filling up the food containers . Our room was nice & very clean finding the light for the bathroom was a bit of a puzzle !! we had to leave it on all night .Having said all this we did enjoy the party .

« Different Mercure expectations »

After the room was changed to a more decent sized room with higher ceiling as what would be expected of a Mercure standard, the stay was more comfortable. Service staff were friendly. Special mention and appreciation to Mr. Mateas.

« Nice room but a little small »

Well decorated room, comfortable bed, good size bathroom and very clean. However, the room was a tight squeeze, not what I expected for a king room. I know this goes by the size of the bed but the room isn't big enough for it. Also, the lamp didn't work on the table and the toilet seat kept falling down on us while we used it which was very annoying.

« Lovely place to stay »

Whilst the room was much smaller than we expected, the hotel was kept nicely and decorated beautifully. It was right in the centre of town and was generally a nice place to stay.

« Quirky and lovely hotel with helpful staff. »

Although the stay started off on a negative the staff were soon very helpful and resolved all the issues. My partner and I only stayed for one night as I used our stay to propose to him! He loved every second of it and really that's all that mattered to me. The room was beautiful and the breakfast we had delivered to us the next day was lovely. Thank you for making that night so much extra special for us.

« It is where we wanted to be with our family in order to celebrate Neil's 70th. »

The staff were pleasant on our arrival and helpful with any requests. Our room was quite nice and comfortable for one night. The hotel is full of character and corridors and stairs. The evening private party at the hotel was excellent thanks to Neil's family planning with the hotel a night to remember with generous portions of hospitality in the bar, restaurant and ballroom. The hotel allowed us to celebrate into the wee small hours and their service was faultless. Breakfast was disappointing.

« Worst night's sleep ever in a hotel »

The staff were great, and the rooms were furnished to a very high and comfortable standard, with lots of amenities, but the noise pollution from outside at night was like nothing I've ever experienced. As with most city centre hotels, night-time noise is inevitable, and should be factored into hotel choice, obviously, but there are limits. When I entered the room, I was puzzled as to why there were earplugs laid out as amenities on the bedside table. I soon found out why. The hotel appears to be surrounded by bars and nightclubs, which were all operating on full roar until about 3am, followed by a brief respite until about 5am when the bin lorries and street cleaners started their work. The windows offered very little sound insulation. There is secondary glazing, but this didn't really take the edge of the noise much. The air-conditioning seemed fairly ineffectual, and creaked and huffed a lot, so not also was it noisy, but not. Rather than offering earplugs to guests, perhaps the hotel could deal with the root of the problem, and invest in some better sound-proofing windows? In every other respect the hotel was excellent, but if you can't sleep and end up feeling like zombie the morning after, it's failed a rather important test.

The hotel was beautiful however it was really let down by a few things, which was a real shame as this is somewhere I would have stayed on a regular basis. 1st of all the air conditioning wasn't working on a very hot weekend. I understand these things happen, however no memeber of staff told us about this problem and we had to find out for ourselves. I though this was very discourteous. Secondly there was no sky sports channels, and I'm sure that this was advertised on your website. Thirdly, after receiving confirmation that we could check in from 2:00pm, we arrived at 2:00pm at the hotel only to be told that actually we couldn't check into the room until 3:00pm. I found this a little frustrating as I am heavily preganant and needed to rest. Last of all we had a little problem with the car park, which we did get resolved but in the confusion a memeber of staff took our car park ticket and gave us back the wrong ticket meaning we got stuck in the car park for 1/2 hour before being charged and released. All these problems happened over 3 days which isn't great. Like I said before the hotel is beutiful and it was really let down by all the above issues.

« Not really a 4 star hotel »

There were some good things about our room (such as a comfortable bed & pillows, nice enough decor) but they were overshadowed with important flaws. First of all the room was not clean. There was dust here and there, dirt built up around skirting boards next to the bed - the food menus on bedside tables were dirty, shower cubicle had bits which I didn't want to find out what so chose to wash it off quickly, sink was blocked, and the windows were smudged. We thought it was odd that cloth hanging unit was positioned over the tea making area. The room was small and dark (room 404) and In addition to that we didn't feel welcome overall for things like we had no option for room service at night as the gluten free diet was not catered for and the receptionist had no way to make exceptions as the 24 hour room service is not really a kitchen service but just basic ready food handled by the receptionist. Also we were not able to opt in and pay for late checkout for the reasons that the receptionist kindly explained of which I believe could easily have been dealt with as I understand the hotel wasn't fully booked. It was just the matter of juggling the types of rooms being re-allocated, nothing an experienced receptionist couldn't take care of if they wanted. Overall we didn't feel like we stayed at a four star hotel which tends to be our usual preference unless the town is small and offers better quality guest houses rather than hotels.

« Not at all what I expected and what I paid for. »

I paid for a 2pm check-in and was sent away until 3pm when the room was ready. There was no air-con, the room was small and extremely hot, my girlfriend almost passed out due to the heat, in the end we had three fans and not even that improved the situation. We ordered room service and did not get what we paid 18 pounds for, fair enough the the guy who delivered the food was new and tried his best but staff should be properly trained. The room was small but cute but the light in the corridor leading to the bathroom was broken and was never fixed even after multiple complaints. As mentioned before the air-con did not work and the safe did not work either, we had no safe place to keep our valuables. When mentioned to the staff they twice told us that the engineers would come the next day but they never did. Overall, the location of the hotel is perfect but for what I was paying for and what I was expecting I was disappointed, I have stayed in 5 star as well as 4 star hotels all around the world and know what to expect, I hate complaining and try to avoid it as much as possible but in this case I can't keep quiet. The staff seemed incompetent at the first but ended up being very friendly and they tried to help as much as they could, despite it being to no avail. It was a real shame because I was very excited to stay at your hotel, I even convinced my girlfriend to stay there instead of the Park Plaza, hopefully this helps in improving your service.

« Central hotel for Nottingham's night life, culture and shopping areas. »

Lovely hotel with character. Friendly staff and great breakfast. Pleased we upgraded, king sized bed and room very comfortable. Room 306 close to stairs so make use of ear plugs provided. I did and had no problems but partner forgot and was distrupted by guests returning after night out. We stayed the weekend so be aware the bars have very late/early hours so make sure you close the windows as the streets around the hotel are action packed. Lovely bar attached to hotel very atmospheric lit by candles great for start or end of evening. P.s Remember to draw the blind in the bathroom you look directly onto the street and the opposite building so you could be very embarrassed!!!
