I didn't stay here long , in fact only one night. Having seen the hotel room photos online, in person the rooms are different and don't meet the same standard. Me and my colleague found both of our rooms cold but after telling the reception the next morning we were told that heaters are available. Really cute bar downstairs. I would stay here again but I feel the price is a bit expensive for what it is. In one of the rooms we had dirty spoons for coffee. But on the plus side there are coffee machines in each room which makes for a luxurious touch.

The hotel was satisfactory, however, the room was not overly clean. On moving curtains there was considerable dirty dust behind. The bedroom bedside cabinet was broken with the backboard leaning on the wall behind and very sharp pins sticking out. The breakfast staff were unfriendly and un-talkative to the point of rudeness. A friend wished them good morning and asked where she might find butter, to receive the very blunt reply, "on your table." nothing else, no good morning returned, no manners. Not really the expected or acceptable attitude from any hotel staff.

The Standard King is still classed as one of our smaller room grades with our Privilege rooms and Suites being our larger room types which I highly recommend should plenty of space be either required or desired. The whole experience at the Nottingham Mecure was fairly pleasant, the brief interaction we had with staff was ok, the room was a bit dated and overlooked the main street. I suppose the old adage "you get what you pay for" was applicable. Nothing brilliant and nothing terrible.

My booked room was disgusting... Dark brown stained cushions and duvet cover and old towels on the floor. Returned to reception and was given the 'best suite' with apologies. The best suite looked like it was last hoovered in June and you could draw in the dust on the TV. Communal carpets were a state. Decor was tired, random blobs of glue were around from old glued down ornaments etc

There was trouble with the air conditioning system in our room on the first night and we went to let reception know and they bought us up a heater, they moved us into another room for the second night. We had a telephone call from reception at about 12:20pm on the day of check out to see what time we were planning on leaving our room, this is after our key had been deactivated and we had to get assistance to be able to regain access, despite having booked a 3pm check-out. It's the finer details that let you down as the details should have been accessed before making the call.

As we are located in the very heart of Nottingham City center we are surrounded with bars and restaurants from all sides. The hotel was very warm and welcoming. Our room was lovely, but a bit chilly - and we had a bit of difficulty understanding how the (electric heater) heating system worked. But when we finally mastered it, the temperature was fine. We were also a bit bemused there was no soap in the bathroom. However these were all minor details, and overall we would rate our stay very highly.

The bedroom was booked on a pay on arrival rate, where the guest would need to settle the accommodation on arrival. It is in the terms and conditions of the booking that should a bedroom be paid by a 3rd party who is not present at the time of the check in an authorization form would need to be filled in in advance. I am sorry that this information was missed upon making the bedroom reservation, however I am delighted that reception has managed to help with the bedroom booking. I am sorry that we fell short from our usually high housekeeping standards. I will personally speak with the housekeeping manager to ensure that this does not happen again in the future. Should any guest experience problems with the bedroom provided our team is available 24 hours and would have been more than delighted to assist looking at alternative bedroom for their stay. Stayed for two nights - Tuesday and Wednesday - in November, in a king- sized, well equipped room. Expensive at £150 plus £120 for consecutive nights. Room was quite dark so the extra bathroom lights which weren’t working were missed, as was the faulty sink plug. However, both of these were soon rectified by attentive reception staff contacting maintenance - thank you. The room was cold - it was very cold outside - as the air conditioning wasn’t capable of heating the room efficiently. It is an old building! Again reception staff came to the rescue and gave me a heater - thank you to one of the female members of reception who went out of her way to help with all of the problems I experienced, whereas one of the male reception staff wasn’t so accommodating. If you don’t like city centre noise, shouting, screaming until 3am ( and that is on a Tuesday and Wednesday, not weekends!! ) ask for a room on the inner side of the hotel and not room 201 facing one of the main streets. Not the hotel’s fault, admittedly.
