« Great stay »

It was fantastic. Your breakfast was fabulous. Rodrigo at the front desk was great-helped me plan a self -guided tour of the Graf Spee. Also while I was on my tour my wife was able to stay in the room past checkout (our flight had a later time due to a cancelation) This kind of “above and beyond” service was greatly appreciated! Kudos to your hotel and staff. This has been the “talk of the town” with our family here in the States.

« Nice hotel, but outdated in a few ponts and room service sometimes super late »

Nice hotel, but outdated in a few points like all the boose speakers which I cannot use and they don’t have adapters. Room service sometimes super late or different from what I ordered. The water when you shower often ends in the rest of the bathroom. The bicycle in the gym doesn’t work.

« Good level of service. Some issues with the lift and the cards. »

The service, quality of breakfast and meals. Wonderful We were in a business meeting so lunch could have been faster. It improves the second day after talking to Eloisa. The cards of the lifts didn't work well. I told the recepcionist that the card he gave me for the meeting room and my room different floors didn't work so he asked me to go with me to the lifts. Indeed it didn't work so he gave me one additional. The result is that I had to go first that it didn't work, then go back with the recepcionist again didn't work and with the two cards it was Ok. Service in the meeting room as food there was very good.

The country is beautiful and the people are Extremely friendly. I was surprised and disappointed at the size of the room and the location of the bathroom. Also, the lighting was unacceptable . The check in personnel were not accommodating. They did not follow thru on their promises. The dining room staff was friendly and extremely efficient. accolade for the bellboy who was helpful and friendly. The lack of a bar in a five star hotel was not acceptable. for The bell boys: friendly, informative and professional.

« Simply the BEST!!!! »

The hotel is beautiful in a great location. Excellent restaurants within walking distance. If you do not have to stay downtown, this is the location and hotel to stay. All the staff were great, but a special thank you to Romina at checkin and checkout (I felt like she was a family member always making sure everything was ok). The Mgr. Juan Martin Pena, excellent!!!!! He made great recommendations for restaurants and he and Romina personally made sure we were properly taken care of. I have stayed at Four Seasons, St. Regis’ and Ritz Carltons — the Service at the Sofitel was superior to all of them.

« Beautiful hotel, only small improvements »

The rooms were spacious and all the furnishings very comfortable. The spa was beautiful and the pool a wonderful temperature. We had dinner in the evening and it was an excellent experience- the staff were knowledgeable and courteous throughout. There were only one or two things I'd suggest for improvement: ~breakfast. This isn't included in the room rate, or it is available at quite a steep charge per person. In hotels of this calibre breakfasts are often included so it felt a little stingy to be offered it at extortionate prices. The hotel would probably look better if the price per night was increased by a marginal about (maybe $20 a night) and include the breakfast. -modernisation. I know it is a modern hotel, however it would have been beautiful to see a little more of it in its former glory. The rooms are indistinguishable from your average modern building in style (the plastic cords in the chandeliers...?) and it is a shame some of the old world charm could not have been incorporated. My family are related to the Arocenas, so that was one of the main reasons my husband and I decided to stay there. At the same time the modernisation that has been performed is mostly in decent taste and does not detract from the historic building (except the bizarre horses with lamps coming out of their heads, but such is modern art). -bar/lounge. Apart from the casino we didn't notice much of a lounge or bar area, which is a shame as it would have been nice to relax with a few drinks in a place that isn't the formal dining room. -systems. Our passports had to be scanned multiple times, and the final time was at checkout (when we were in a slight hurry) and I ended up forgetting my passport in the scanner! We also had to have a copy of our bill emailed to us, as the printers did not seem to be working at the time. The staff were excellent and helpful throughout, and the main reason we wanted a copy of the bill was because we thought we had been undercharged (we were expecting a higher bill). When we returned home we realised this was the case, as the Carrasco book had not been included on our room tab. We have notified the hotel of this and waiting for their response on what to do.

Regarding the modernization, the beauty of our hotel is due to the architecture of the ancient hotel built in 1921. We strive to maintain the French style but also incorporating some contemporary decorations in order to give our building a sophisticated atmosphere. I am sorry for the inconvenience regarding the scanning of your passports during your check- out and for any inconvenience this could have caused. Nevertheless, I would like to thank you for your positive comments and feedback about our staff, service and spa facilities! As well as for sharing with us the missing payment of the Carrasco book.
