Everything about Novotel Blackfriars can be described with one word - inadequate. This venue advertises rooms available from 2pm. I count on that commitment. I attempted to check in at 2:15pm but was turned away as there were no rooms available. Disgraceful false advertising - if I'd known this we would have stayed elsewhere. Once we did make it into our room the very expensive suite rooms were found to be surprisingly small and compare very poorly with other Novotel suites. The evening bar staff stood out as being particularly inept bordering on completely incompetent with very, very poor English language skills.

The initial room allocated was too small, Staff got us changed to a larger room and made sure we were happy with the change. Every request was dealt with efficiently and with a smile. Warm, friendly and engaging, the staff deserve recognition for the work they do to make guests feel comfortable.

Went there with my family (one child). Loved the location as well as the kindness of the staff. Great breakfast buffet, nice atmosphere and decoration. The pool was a bit cold though! Indulge yourself in one of the restaurant of the neighborhood! Will definitely recommend it or go back there!

« Problematic online booking process »

Everything was perfect with the exception of the booking process. I booked online a few weeks before my stay. I booked on Accor.com as I am a member. A couple of hours prior to my arrival I received an email telling me my credit card had been declined and my reservation would be cancelled, yet I had successfully checked in online the day before my arrival. I had to phone the hotel from France to ensure them I was coming and tell them not to cancel my reservation. There must be a problem with your system, as my credit card was fully operational and worked immediately when I checked in again at reception. This is the second time this has happened to me when booking this Hotel. In addition I had booked with a £35 discount due to my Accor points, but this amount was not deducted from my bill. Please advise as I will be staying there again. I like this hotel very much, the rooms are clean and comfortable, the location is perfect and the breakfast is very good.

It was very nice, however on arrival, our room was not ready. This was settled with two free drinks, which was a nice gesture. The room was very nice, and had an excellent view. It the breakfast room service menu was a bit clearer it would have been a 10.

On a sightseeing trip, we loved the location, close to the tube and many of the sites. Staff were helpful and friendly. Rooms were large for central London and well appointed. Would definitely stay here again.

Lovely room, checkin easy completed online. Room very comfortable great shower and great views. In an executive room as a couple but only 1 robe. Asked at reception for another and they phoned house keeping, never arrived☹️. Breakfast very busy and service a bit slow , no spoon with cutlery and staff said they would get one, never arrived, ran out of orange juice and bread and took some time to see and refill. Understandable with cooked food but not the basics, just seemed to lack someone in control. Food was excellent with great choice. So a really nice room, great location to Tube, Waterloo and tourist sites. Just let down by some service related issues otherwise would have scored a 10

« A warm welcome in the busiest city »

An exclusive retreat in the middle of the the busiest city of them all. Perfect to return after a day of city seeing, trip to museums and shopping. An hour in the spa and felt totally relaxed and ready to dinner at a near by fine restaurant. Very handy as only a few steps from London’s Jubilee line

Love the convenience of the hotel. Very easy to get to Gatwick and Luton airport as you get the train from Blackfriars which is only a few mins walk away. The Southwark tube couldn’t be closer.

We enjoyed our stay very much until my daughter got quite sick. The staff was extremely helpful, giving us a late checkout and Doug anything they could to help. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. (The pool and the location were great too!)

Good 4* quality rooms and service. Breakfast room (restaurant Jamboree) is small and crowded at times. Breakfast with cold and hot dishes was ok but not as tasty as in other London Novotels like Tower Bridge or Canary Wharf. Hotel has a gym and a nice indoor pool and sauna. We stayed there for 4 days in an executive room on 13th floor (Shard view). Good space for a London hotel with modern nice-looking bath w/ rain-shower. Room had fridge, coffee-maschine, kettle, fast Wifi, TV, Bose bluetooth speakers, spacious wardrobe, safe. We felt very much at home. Service was attentive and fast (also at breakfast). Since it was a (membership) upgrade price was ok for London. Hotel is ideally located in SW London, close to tube (Southwark/Jubilee) and Waterloo station. Only a few stops to London City, Trafalgar, Westminster, etc..

This hotel is highly recommended. Rooms are clean and the hotel is just less than one min walk from the station. It's also in the middle of everywhere. Hotel staff are very friendly and energetic. Breakfast is nice too but the restaurant can be quite crowded after 830am. Can't wait to go back next month.
