I stayed here on a business trip. Great hotel, great staff and great location. Easy train links to Gatwick and tube trains to London. The staff were really good and attentive, breakfast was ready at 6am for an early start.

« Very Friendly Hotel ! »

Stayed there for 1 night on the 15th of July and booked a Queen Sized Bed With Private Balcony. The room was lovely, clean and tidy and the staff were friendly and helpful. We ended up having breakfast the next day in the hotel which again was busy but there was plenty of food, hot and cold with unlimited tea and coffee! It is near Southwark Underground with only a few stops from Bond Street and other main attractions! Would recommend a stay at this hotel, and would be booking again in the future.

Customer service at this hotel is fantastic. When we checked in, it took a few minutes longer and they offered us complimentary cocktails. They asked us the reason for our travel which was our anniversary and the hotel decorated our bed and gave us a card. It made our stay very special.

A return trip to the hotel for me so I knew what to expect in terms of rooms, location, etc and am generally happy to do so. On the positive side I had a room on the 13th floor so great views and light. Friendly and polite reception staff on arrival. Somehow however this time it felt like a bit of work. The first room issue arose when I tried to cool the room during the night by turning on the a/c. Something was broken within the workings so that it made a lot of noise. I brought it to the attention of the staff in the morning with the request that it be fixed before my return in the evening. This did not happen and so I had to raise the matter again on my return, wait for the maintenance man and have confirmed that it needed to be fixed (he apparently had determined this earlier in the day) but could not. I ask for a change of room, which is apparently difficult as the hotel is so busy.....when do you ever hear any other response than this? Second room is next door so not too much traipsing but it is now the room next to the corridor vestibule where the lifts open. I can live with the automated lift announcements. There I find the shower head is faulty (no baths in these rooms), spouting water out the sides. I ask again first thing in the morning that it be fixed before my return later in the day. I return later and nothing has been done. Would I like the maintenance man to come up now and fix it? Unclear if this is a rhetorical question at some level and how best to respond. Male receptionist on this occasion was efficient in organising the repair and did inform me of this and that he would arrange for a drinks voucher for me. A nice gesture certainly, however I am still waiting for the said voucher...... It is a bit of a bugbear with me that hotels, charging significant tariffs, seem not to mind allocating you to rooms with faults that they then expect you to put up with unless you signal otherwise and/or by default become involved in their maintenance programmes. Check out is quicker by their e-mailing your invoice and receipt to you prior to check out. This works fine generally however I needed a detail in the bill altered. This could only happen after I had checked out apparently (?) but then needed my prompting when it did not happen and the initial attachments were incorrect. My anecdotes do not identify a theme necessarily, I know, but pleasant staff who appear to listen but then seem not to have heard emerged for me

« Good Value but needs more "I can help with that" attitutde »

This hotel has nice rooms, great breakfast, a good pool (strange cold bubble pool) and is located in an area not great but not bad. What the hotel really needs is more of a "can do" and "I can help you with that" attitude. There is one person at the hotel with that attitude and that is Sara at the Front Desk. Everyone there should follow her lead. She was attentive to our needs and if she didn't know or have the answer, she didn't say she didn't know, she said that she would find out and get back to us. Everyone else acted liked we were a bother. Value good. Food good (although no real vegetarian choices). Pool ok. Rooms ok.

« Very helpful and considerate staff »

We had a very good experience staying there. The staff were very considerate and helpful. It was the night of the London Bridge attack. Several people were provided accommodation overnight from other hotels; and in the morning we saw the really awesome kindness and hard work the staff put in to take care of everyone. Really really heartwarming.

The hotel is very good, well located, top of the range, very good customer service. The hotel will be recommended by me to any business executives willing to do business in Central London. There need however for the hotel to work on their food.

Excellent hotel very well situated for sightseeing and lots of restaurants in this area. Breakfast was great and Champo was amazing so friendly. All of the staff were excellent. The rooms were clean quiet and bright. We were so pleased with this hotel. It is very handy for Borough Market. Thoroughly recommend this hotel.

Excellent location, modern hotel, large room even with beds for kids. Didn't get to try swimming pool but would definitely recommend for business or tourist trip as Westminster, Buckingham Palace all walkable via pleasant walk along Thames. Not that expensive at weekend.

I had a 3 night stay in London, meeting up with old friends, doing some shopping , eating and going to musicals. This is my second stay here at the Novotel London Blackfriars. I am most impressed by the fast check in and check out. The girls at the reception were extremely helpful and very friendly and kind. The hotel is situated very close to the Soutwark tube St. which gave me easy access to the west end. I could even walk to Covent Garden and Oxford Circus. The Tate Gallery of Modern Art is very near. I felt that it was very easy to get around from the Hotel. There is Tesco just opposite the tube station. Around the corner is a Waitrose. The hotel room have a fridge for my yoghurt and juice. Everything was just perfect. Getting to the Hotel from Heathrow was cheap and easy. I bought an Oister card the last time I was in London and it costs only 3 pounds and 10 pence for the whole journey which took only an hour on the Piccadilly line to Green Park and change to the Jubilee line to Southwark. I will certainly stay here again.

My son Tom and I had a great time here. The room was clean and comfortable. Little man lived the littlw touches like the bathroom mirror reflecting off the wardrobe mirror and the light changing wall. The staff were really polite and very helpful. Overall a very happy stay!

Arrived tired after a long flight for business. Staff were efficient, friendly and helpful. Room was an excellent standard well suited for business. Clean, spacious and well priced. The location may not be central but a short walk to the Southwark underground station got you to most places without difficulty. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Great location close to tube station and south bank. Couldn't fault the hotel and staff at all. Great room great view over the he shard and lovely bathroom with a view of the shard. My only criticism is that the breakfast is not gluten free friendly. I ended up buying some gluten free bread and toasting it each morning

As a platinum member, my benefits were recognized right away upon check in. Because they did not have a spare room for my upgrade, they gave me free breakfast. Nice job! Room are clean and of decent size. well equipped and check in and out is effort less. the hotel is also very near to the train station, and bikes you can use right outside for 2 gbp.

Highly recommend the hotel... The staff, in particular Flore and Marissa (Mariana).. were incredibly helpful and polite and did their absolute best to make our stay memorable. We were unable to make our original booking, and even though usually there would be no refund, due to exceptional circumstances they were able to offer us accommodation a month later. Full marks to the staff.

Great hotel with real Novotel service at a perfect location. Rooms are clean and spacious and hotel staff is very helpful! I would recommend this hotel to everyone travelling to London. The sauna and swimming pool also are a big plus.

« Trip to london with the family. »

Nice hotel with very good service and close to underground, london eye and imperial war museum. Great english breakfast - a little bit cold under the aircon or ventilator. Nice pool area and very clean. The rooms are modern, clean and a little small for 4 people.
