For - conveniently situated, helpful and friendly staff (reception and restaurant/bar), clean and bright rooms. Against - a four star hotel which provides plastic disposable cups with tea/coffee making facilities in room. Notwithstanding that Italy/Milan is expensive compared with other European cities, this hotel was considerably over-priced for what it offered.

Concerning your complaint about plastic cups let me tell you that it is a choice due to hygienic reasons. As you may have saw cups and teaspoons are single-use and I can assure you that it is not a choice made for economic reasons. About the complaint of the “over priced”, our hotel offers all the services of an hotel of 4 stars category and we are sure that you have carried out a thorough search before booking us and if you have chosen the Mercure Milano Solari it is surely because it offered you something that you thought it best at the best price. Staff were helpful and the suite was large and comfortable. The weakest feature was the breakfast which is over-priced and underwhelming . On two of four occasions the pastries and bacon were burnt to a black crisp, the food was inedible and should NEVER have been presented in that state. I presume that it was reheated under a grill and was not freshly baked. I’ve never had this experience at an ACCOR hotel before. Food served at the bar is obviously not cooked on site and is unimpressive. Everything was as I’d expect from an ACCOR hotel. The location is great and so convenient to the tram system.

We are also very sorry to read about our Bar food, we can assure you that we have our proper kitchen and all the dishes present on our Bar Menu are cooked on the spot with extremely fresh Italian ingredients. Dear Sir you stayed with us for three nights, it is a shame that during your stay, you have never reported us anything in order to give us a chance to act immediately, we do hope you will give us another chance. We had a fabulous stay at Mercure Milano Solari. The hotel is well located for the use of public transport. A fast train from the airport and an easy transfer to the Metro, 2 or 3 stops and we were a very short walk from the hotel. During our stay we used the trams ( straight out the front) and Metro to sightsee. It was so convenient. The desk staff were most helpful with my many enquires about transport and things to do. The restaurant next door was excellent for the nights we didn’t want to walk far and there were many cafes to choose from for our morning coffee and pastry.

The hotel is easily accessible by car and you do not need to enter Zona C for this. The apartments are spacious and have everything you need (also for longer stays). The service at the hotel desk is super friendly and tried to make your stay as convenient as possible. The service included a valet parking and the car was always delivered even before the agreed time directly in front of the hotel. The breakfast left no open wishes. Especially the young service assistant has to be highlighted. He prepared fantastic waffles and cappuccinos for me and I noticed, that he overall delivered a perfect and friendly service also to all other hotel guests. Also the cleaning personal has to be mentioned in a positive way. Unfortunately it was not possible to open the windows in the apartment (because of security reasons), however the personal opened all windows during the cleaning service and therefore fresh air was able to get into the room to remove all smells from the cooking. The location is really good, the dome is accessible by metro in 10 minutes and the Regio Navigli offers superb restaurants and nice shopping options.

A horrible street entrance

From Accorhotels web site, the hotel has parking facility. However, when I reached there, the front space was used by a car parked at the middle of the two spaces. The street parking spots were full except one rather narrow (the cars in front and behind the space were too close to the space) left. I managed to park and checked in. However, there were two parts of a stair case from the street level. The first part had a side ramp but the second part didn't. We had to hand carry the luggage and walked up/down those steps. How come the ramp not made to the full depth of the stair case? The valet parking service was fine. The staff were friendly. The room layout was not suitable for opening two large suitcases.

Regarding your complaint, I wanted to inform you that the space in front of the hotel is not the parking mentioned by our website at all. The space you are talking about is used to load and unload luggage while waiting for your room at arrival or to leave it at departure. Then we explained to you that the car parking is private and is just 300 meters far from us but that an operator would come to pick up your car as the valet service is included in the daily price. Regarding your complaint about the two stairs to access the hotel you will have seen that only the last 4 steps are out of the ramp, unfortunately the ramp cannot reach the entrance for logistical reasons, but you could ask for an help at the reception. It would be a pleasure for us to help you with your heavy luggage, as we do with all the guests who ask for it. Price quite high for a very poor accommodation. I was at Mercure centro the we before, and it was clearly better than the Mercure Solari one. I am very disappointed. + I had to pay an extra 3€ for an orange juice. The room was very small and furnitures were in a bad shape, we had an ash tray in the bathroom to put the soap in... I will never go back to that hotel.

The design of our hotel, of all our rooms, our services as well as our rates are very clear and visible on our website as well as on all online sites on which we can be booked. If you, after having been in another hotel, have preferred to change and book with us in absolute freedom and surely after viewing the Mercure Milano Solari you will certainly have had valid reasons. About your complaint, I would like to focus some points of your remarks. The price of 3 euros for a real orange juice in a 4-star hotel seems to me more than reasonable. The size of the room you booked and occupied 23 square meters is the standard size for a hotel of our category. I would also like to ask you what you mean by furniture in bad shape, unfortunately it is true that sometimes we find small scratches and marks but it is also true that the conditions are absolutely functional and in excellent “shape” The ashtray is a standard of our prestigious chain, present in all the rooms of all the hotels of our brand, in reality it was not put in the bathroom to lean on the soap, for that there is the pan on which all the courtesy line products. We appreciated that you shared your concerns, and it is our hope that you will give us the chance to regain your trust in the future.

When i booked this i upgrated to Executive room only to find out that the room was no different to a standard apart from having a coffee machine with only 2 capsules of coffee and three different soft drinks plus 2 bottles of water. This was ridicules becouse there was 2 of us if we wanted the same soft drink it was not possible Tea used was not replced . Breakfast was also very poor and unappetising to say the least and was greeted in a poor way. Nothing was labelled to understand whar the product was.

The design of the executive room is the same as all the other rooms of our hotel. However, there are many differences with the standard room. The executive room has a larger size; the bathroom has a window and therefore natural light, a bathtub and a shower. The courtesy line is full of personal care products, a scale, bathrobe and slippers. The room also has a Nespresso coffee machine as well as a kettle, coffee capsules, tea, instant coffee, even decaffeinated one and a relaxing herbal tea. Minibar drinks, both water and soft drinks are of a well-known brand and are all free. Finally, we have equipped the executive rooms with a docking station to allow our guests to listen their own music in complete freedom. The mattresses of the hotel are also of a well-known brand and are appreciated by most of our guests, however I believe it is a personal preference. Regarding breakfast, we have a wide selection of products, from fruit to desserts, from drinks to hot dishes and all our products are correctly labeled by law. At least I regret to read that the staff was not friendly. I assure you that all members of the staff of the Mercure Milano Solari have the purpose of making our guests' stay as pleasant as possible. We appreciated that you shared your concerns, and it is our hope that you will give us the chance to regain your trust in the future.
