« An enjoyable couple of nights in the midst of winter. »

Whilst ideally situated, the Hotel was a bit dated and the rooms were in need of some maintenance particularly bathroom. The staff were excellent throughout our stay. Perhaps slightly better directions to car park could have been given before our arrival.

I booked 2 rooms for myself and my daughter. Staff were helpful to deal with. There was a mouse in my daughter's room - 218 Kettle did not work - housekeeping replaced it The inside door locks did not work. I was 1st told this was because it is the hotel's H&S policy re fire and then that the locks don't work. Every hotel I have stayed in for many years has had an inner lock and/or door chain for customers to use to secure their room when sleeping. I was very uncomfortable with the lack of lock given that door cards are often not handed back by customers, staff have easy access to them, and these days the hotel cannot control who can programme them. This is poor re personal safety.

Our stay with you was again excellent. We stayed in Room 304, Honeymoon suite, as we had our wedding there last year but didn't really get the full use of the room we had. We decided to come back this year as we were going on a cruise the next day. We will be doing the same again when we embark on our next cruise!

our room was satisfactory, as the bathroom and mattress where good. The rest of the room needed updating. A good bar area, and resturant area. However both severely short staffed. waited over half an hour for coffee in the mornings, and the bar man was constantly having to go away from the bar for stock . Each morning there was no juice , so had to ask for the optics to be refilled. It was a busy weekend . Whoever is resposible for staff rotas , needs to improve as this is not satisfactory. Especially when you've travelled 5hours to get there. I would return , however only if i knew everything was updated and implimented.

Our room was no 109, located to the side of the hotel and above the main entrance. We found it difficult to fall asleep with the noise below our window as this was the area used by residents and guests from a wedding reception to stand talking whilst they smoked. Waitress staff at breakfast were very polite but struggled with the amount of residents using the restaurant. Breakfast items ran out and there was a delay of 10 minutes whilst I waited for them to be replenished which meant my partner had already finished his breakfast by the time I sat down with mine. Very disappointing.

Staff were lovely and helpful. Breakfast was good. Bedroom was a decent size and pleasant, but the bathroom was awful. Window falling off its hinges, a very shabby bath, basin which did not drain well, and toilet filled almost to the top when flushed. Needed total renovation.

I booked originally for 1 night only, but on the way to Southampton we heard that the event we had the following night was postponed so decided to stay a 2nd night. I was asked if I had any requirements and asked for a quiet room if possible. We ended up in a disabled room close to the front doors. It may have been the only room as we had only originally booked for the 1 night, but the room was really noisy. The room need triple glazing along with AC to make the experience enjoyable. We found all the staff extremely helpful and friendly. On leaving we noticed that the diesel cap on our car was open, but no fuel was taken. You may wish to check your CCTV as we noticed another car had the same.

I was very satisfied overall with my stay. The only drawback was that there was a pigeon's nest close to my bedroom window which made it a bit noisy at night. Luckily I had brought my earplugs so I was able to get a good night sleep.

« Disappointing »

An overnight stop after being on the Isle of Wight for a week, we booked the Mercure Hotel for its central location in Southampton. Parking is an advantage. Although the Receptionist was super friendly and helpful we found the breakfast waitress (the next morning) quite unfriendly. The Eggs Benedict were certainly tasty but not worth £9.95. Our room was clean and the bed comfy. The extractor fan in the bathroom didn't work. The blue basin although pretty is'nt very functional. Water from the tap splashes over the side and runs onto the bathroom floor.

Very hFriendly staff nice and clean but in desperate need of Tyding up our room 16 was very noisy there was a crack in the bedroom ceiling and the bathroom door inside very shabby needs a tidy up. The carpet was crinched up in places it's a shame as the room was a good size with good facilities . If visiting Southampton I would stay at the hotel but a different room overall fair value for the price.
