« Short but ok »

I booked it at the last minute and was fairly impressed. The car park is large enough but there needs to be more directions to it. I only found it by process of elimination. The room was large enough but needed the paintwork touching up. The bathroom was quite modern. The breakfast however was disappointing as the bacon and scrambled eggs were cold. I ate in the dining room in the evening but the rice for the curry tasted like it had been left out and dried. The waiter offered me a refund of some sort but the curry was tasty without the rice.

We were not in the hotel too long as out all day and evening. The hotel room was the smallest we have ever stayed in. However, clean and warm. Very, very high window.

We had 2 rooms; 108 & 210. On entering Room 108 we were greeted with the strongest smell of cigarettes and this with the window wide open. Room 210 was no better, that room had a distinctive sour milk smell. A one night stay was more than enough, it wasn’t a pleasurable night for either of the room guests. The reception did spray some form of odour neutraliser in 108, this, mingled with the cigarette smell only made it worse. We made use of the bar. Arrived back from our evening out around 10.30 and at 10:50 was told the bar was closing if we wanted another drink, but we would have to leave the bar sitting area as it had to close. The only other sitting area was opposite, across from the reception desk, which was full. So our family of 7 could not finish off our evening as we had nowhere to go & decided to go to bed instead. Breakfast. Full cooked £13.95 / continental £5.95. Felt the full cooked was overpriced. Ordered porridge - 15 mins we waited and when arrived it was stodgy and the oats weren’t cooked properly. Also ordered poached egg on toast, the eggs were undercooked them being very wet. Requested hot water for the peppermint tea, but none arrived. Overall, our experience at the hotel was far from comfortable or welcoming.

i was very pleased to have check in early as we had a family event we had to be at the over all comfort of the hotel was very nice the staff was all nice and pleasant which was nice to see the room was just right but i must say the bathroom could have a bit of a make over as it look very tired but saying that we were both happy for the price we paid. just one little thing the bar snacks were very poor as sandwich for the price we paid (ham sandwich) any way we had a very good stay and we will be back in November thank you

We stayed one night before joining a cruise ship. While I appreciate that you may have been constrained by a historic building, we find ordinary Ibis rooms to be larger ans more practical. It fulfilled the purpose, although I would have been disappointed more if I had not been entitled to a discount being an Accor card holder.

Really good location and easily reachable. the Hotel parking location is perfect but needs more direction information or an email with the plan to reach it would be very useful before arrival. Although some of the reception areas were a bit tired the overall impression I had was of a nice non chain period hotel in a fantastic location. Stayed for business if two of us had stayed for leisure the room might have been a little cramped

The staff as always were very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was good, the only downfall was the small bedroom, we didn't have much room to keep the luggage we needed for our cruise holiday.

« Very enjoyable stay. »

Excellent, friendly staff. We were attending a wedding and the food was very good. Also the buffet breakfast the following day was very nice. The rooms were small but adequate. Unavoidably, even with the heating witched off, the window had to be open during the night, and it was extremely noisy. Therefore we had very little sleep.

Our stay was great. The staff even made the effort to put petals, card etc out for our engagement! Very unexpected and much appreciated. Lovely room, good facilities. Good breakfast (we ordered from the ‘to order’ Section). Fab location too!

« Service not up to standard »

In the room I was assigned the heating system was not working. On the second day, asked to change room and the room assigned had terrible lights from the outside disturbing the sleep. This, in addition to the very small dimensions of the room, doesn’t comply with should be a 4 stars hotel.
