« Thoughtful service in a pleasant town... »

Our first impression of the service was excellent as we spoke with Alyse over the phone with questions concerning our arrival. When inquiring about auto rentals, she encouraged us to rent an auto in Tours, because the town itself did not have a Europcar rental office as we had read over the Internet. She saved us considerable time and trouble with that advice. Although the hotel is not in the center of town, the location was lovely in a park like setting. The rooms were as expected in comfort with the exception of it being cold. We called the desk to see if something could be done and within minutes a portable heater was brought in to supplement their wall heater. Problem solved. On our last night, we decided to forgo our walk into town for dinner and dined at the hotel. To our delight, the inexpensive dinner was much better than one could expect for the price. We would stay, as well as eat their again.

« Clean and comfortable room but lacking in other respects »

+ve - clean room, very comfortable bed, good position near town, some very nice staff members -ve - parking spaces ridiculously narrow, some staff members smoking outside front door does not look good, some staff members lack courtesy, the restaurant is poor and although breakfast was included we gave up and went for breakfast in town, the patio was full of weeds and showed the general lack of care by the management.

As usual rooms and breakfast of a good standard. Surprise when we came to pay since extras had been added to the bill. These extras were for drinks we had not had and were reimbursed.

« Another good stop in Chinon »

We chose to upgrade our room and all was good We also needed to change from 2 nights to 1, due to a very bad weather forecast (were were driving back to the UK with bikes on the roof), and this was all handled easily and politely Breakfast was good, as usual - this is our third trip to this ibis

« Very very dated and not clean!!! »

We have stayed in many Ibis hotels over the years and I can honestly say this one was terrible. It was very dated and was very scruffy in all areas. The floor in the breakfast are, my shoes kept sticking on the dirty floor! The bedroom was not up to standard and not very clean and also had a horrible smell. We were very disappointed as Chinon was lovely and this actually spoilt it for us.

« Decent hotel in a good location »

Stayed her for 1 nught. Overall it is a good hotel in a good location. Maybe the hotel could do with updating - I don't think it is up to the usual Ibis Styles standard. However, our room was clean and quiet and the staff were very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was good - buffet style but plenty of it. Location was ideal - about a 10 minute walk into the centre of Chinon. Overall a decent hotel.

Reception helpful, good rooms with comfortable beds, shower good BUT no shower mats. The showers are dangerous for elderly people with their shiny plastic bases. Breakfast very good but evening meal only fair. Good surroundings and pool an asset.

We have stayed at this hotel many times for over ten years and have always had a great time, the staff are very friendly and make you welcome. However, the hotel bedrooms are now looking tired in comparison to other Ibis Styles and are in need of refurbishment.

nice quiet hotel,nice rooms with bonus of a balcony, short walk into Chinon. Easy to find and safe parking right outside. Didn't try the food or bar so cannot comment. Breakfast buffet was good and included in the price. only downside was reception staff not very friendly.

« The hotel was tired and needing some tender loving care, the evening staff were not helpful. »

The parking bays are much too small. We could get any heating in the rooms even after requests to the staff. The wifi reception was very poor. The breakfast was great and the the staff in the morning were good. I will not be staying at this hotel again, it was expensive compared with normal Ibis hotels, but the quality was worse.

« wonderful beds but the decor is very tired »

This hotel needs refurbishment, the walls of the rooms have tired paintwork, wallpaper falling off and rough cast concrete rather than smooth surfaces - no appealing. however the bed and bedlinen were very good. Unfortunately I found the wrapper from another woman's pantyliner on the floor beneath my bed!!!! perhaps your cleaners should be more thorough!

« Too hot to enjoy the location »

We were amazed to find that this IBIS Styles hotel had no air-conditioning as we had stayed with IBIS in Chatellerault the previous night with excellent a/c. Also the wifi connection was not the usual Accor captive Apple connection - as we were the end room in the corridor, the signal was tenuous. As the hotel is across the river (great view of the castle) from the town, we decided to eat in the restaurant. The air-conditioner was not on and after we had protested (it was a HOT night), it was turned on but not very effective when the doors were open for the diners who were on the terrace. The staff seemed a bit harassed and the menu was more like that of a street cafe. Overnight we were provided with a fan which helped with some air movement. The shower was in the bath which is usual, but the side of the bath was quite high - in time a walk-in shower would be nice. The bicycles were well looked after in a locked shed. I will add that we have not thought highly of IBIS Styles in Nantes or Assevilliers but those in Konstanz(Germany) and Lugano were OK.

Hotel Le Chinon is now IBIS styles hotel. It is across the river so has good view of the castle but there is no air-conditioning and the wifi connection was difficult. The restaurant was average and the air-conditioner, when it was activated had a hard job because the doors were open for the diners on the terrace. Breakfast was adequate but average quality.

Disappointing as we asked for a room overlooking the castle and ended up at the rear. We did request this when booked 9 months ahead but there was no record of this. The receptionist was not very helpful.
