« Good location, but very small rooms »

Very strategic location, 10 min by foot to the Bastille, full of cafes, shops and restaurants around. The room very clean, however, really too small, and there is no significant privacy, it is possible to listen what is happening beside the other rooms, furthermore, no significant advantages or benefits received for Accor/Mercure members, just a simple drink.

No knowing Paris very well, we booked this hotel as a base for our last few days in France before heading home to Australia. We found the room was very clean, although small. Now I am not a tall man, at around 180CM, but I found the bed was also a little on the small side with my feet hanging over the edge. The tea an coffee making facilities were not very good and as a result only used it once. There was very little room to place and open our bags. The hotel, we found out later, was not in the best part of town for us, as we had to travel a bit to get to anything we wanted to see.

« Not as per expectation »

I was satisfied with the room size and location of the hotel. But the room service, amenities and breakfast were not up to my expectation. The room service were not re-filling the tea bags for 2 days until I asked in the reception. The breakfast options were very less (not as per standard of other Mercure hotels). During peak hours there was not even enough supply of food so had to wait for quite some time. Even the cutleries were not there on one day. Being in a 4 star hotel, as a customer I do expect these basics.

the food at room service was very very bad. (the roast chicken with couscous- I would have rather had a simple toasted sandwich, which was not something available on the menu)

« Recently refurbished Mercure by Voltaire Metro, Paris »

Recently refurbed, modern, clean, new interior - flawless. All kindly, friendly reception staff. However on day 2 of a 3 night stay we requested an additional shampoo and a shower gel refill. End of the day had not been done and they said no access to cleaner’s facilities. For a Mercure, at c.£80 a night for edge of town, pretty rubbish to have one small shampoo for 2 people for 3 nights. Plus a shower gel dispenser running empty and certainly not enough for 2 people for 3 nights. A single 500ml bottle of Evian was in the room on day 1. Never replenished. Some tea bags, no biscuits. 2 paper napkins - never replenished. The stinginess was unprecedented and jarred with the smart interior and approachable, helpful staff (apart from not passing on message to cleaner). Either provide things and top up or have the facility spartan from day 1. Not in line with the Mercure name. Location just by Voltaire station. 20min walk to amazing cemetery. Famous landmarks much further. Walking shoes do the job! Bus to Gare du Nord goes around the houses in about 45 mins 2 euros. Metro much quicker. A good hotel in many respects, just don’t expect any frills. Also, the two reasons I booked this hotel was the Mercure brand and the fact it had aircon which I knew would enhance our stay during Paris in July. Even on full blast, the aircon was wholly inadequate. We didn’t complain as hotel was newly refurbished and it was on maximum. Sweated in our bed each night, so disappointing!

« Rude team, forced to book extra room for a 3 year old child »

Hotel facilites very poor, ac not working, rude staff taking advantage of every possible situation to charge extra money. Stayed for 5 nights, Booked a triple room for 2 adults + 1 Child + 1 infant (3 years)... Was forced to book an extra room as the hotel staff (Charley) was not accepting to allow 4 person in a triple room. Had to pay 850 euro extra for the room which I didnt use at all. Very dissapointed with accorr group of hotels although I have been a loyal member and have always prefered accorr for all my travel.

I do not understand your revieuw because our staff explained to you everything about that situation. It is not the fault of the hotel if you forgot you are 4 people instead 3. The law in France doesn't accept 4 people in a room for 3 and we haven't got room for 4 people. So the only solution to stay in our hotel is to take two rooms. Concernig your other remarks : - Our a/c works very well in the hotel - It is not possible to change money at the reception, but you had a lot of change offices in Paris and I am sure the staff gave you some indications about that. I liked that the room was fresh and clean, but the room was very small and the bathroom was especially cramped. The swinging shower doors also let a lot of water out if they aren't closed just right.

« Location is good but services have room for improvements. »

The looks action of the hotel is perfect as it is so closed to the subway. Housekeeping services for sure can be improved as one day when I was back to my room, I found a whole pile of towels laying on my desk instead of in the bathroom. Also, the shower gel in the bathroom never get refills. Lady at breakfast is not very friendly but staffs at reception is helpful.

« Good little hotel, right next to Métro and little shops, with a quiet room and nice staff. »

In town for a weekend which had us with plans in Pigalle, Mabillon, St Cloud and Bercy, this hotel worked well, on Ligne 9 - staff were friendly and polite, room was clean and quiet. Recommended.
