« not good mecure hotel stay July 27 2017 »

My family and I stayed at Mercure Khobar Hotel July 27, 2017. I am Gold Accor member. I did not get VIP room upgrade. My friend got the suite room as Gold Acc mbr. I got room with cigarette smell, very bad. I got headache that night. I got small plate biscuits, 2 small piece cakes and 2 apple juices. Thank you. I may not renew yr stupid-cheating Accor hotel club. Wallah. I will not return to any of Accor brand hotel as it's low class hotel.

It was so far my best experience with a hotel. I liked that the a/c was on when we got there, and the staff were helpful with our requests. The breakfast was excellent. Only thing I missed was a strong tea. It was an overall nice experience and I would stay there again if I get the chance.

I left a note detailing the issues with the room, this included: - no bath towels - the bath tap lever that you turn to select the tap or shower left the tap and shower running - the knob that you turn for the plug to empty the bath did not work

« needs some fine tuning »

I've stayed at this hotel about 60 nights so far this year, the staff are nice but the cleaning staff could use a bit of a tune up. Many days I was not left new towels or toiletries which was ok as long as it wasn't two days in a row which happened on a couple of occasions which left me drying off with a hand towel. Also I would leave my room very early in the morning and leave the please clean room sign on my door only to return after 3 in the afternoon to find my room not done or only in progress.

During Ramadan , their stay was smooth with friendly staff greeting my family and me. The sahoor was superb with classic Arab cuisine and delicious menu. When checkout, I left my remote Bose speaker control, the hotel found it anfs kept it for me under lost and found . I'm happy to get back my remote control. Special thanks to the team.

I was not recognized as an Accor Le Club Platinum member, was not privileged or given my rights. When I introduced myself to 2 duty managers and to front office manager I was not even treated as a guest! The first duty manager I met, an egyptian "Ahmed" gave me wrong information and I asked me to call Accor to send an email to the hotel so I can be privileged! I know this is not how things works but he insisted I call Accor! I have been a member of this union since 2013 and never needed or asked to call them. However, I did for the first time and they tried to call the hotel but no answers. They told me the hotel should make guest's stays something and enjoyable as possible. I didn't refer back to the man again because my first conversation with him was fruitless and a waist of time and I didn't want to do it again. This gentleman turned out to be new and doesn't know anything about Accor loyalty program, the next afternoon I went to use the business center and found him laying there playing with the computer. He didn't expect a guest to come to the business center and didn't move and let me use the PC until I asked him to! The other day I met another duty manager "Sales Manager" to ask for a one month contract quotation, I had the opportunity to explained to him what has happened with his colleague who gave me wrong information and how unprofessional he was, he found it wired a Platinum member is asking for one of his rights, smiled and said: "The property is just a franchise and not owned or runned by Accor and they don't follow Accor in everything!!" Meaning we don't care as much as the rest of Mercure hotels! A couple of days after, I called him to flow up, texted him my email as per his request and now it's has been more than 10 days and I was not given the quotation. Both are lazy, unprofessional and don't really care about the guests or even about the property they work at, it was obvious. Hoever, I should thank Mr. Raja at the front office for being nice and respectful and for sending us a frat basket to the room with Arabic coffee.

Nice, clean & neat room, ample towels & toiletries, courteous staffs. Breakfast buffet is ok but I suggest need to add more varieties of fresh fruits & dish w/ meat. Wi-fi signal was weak, you need to come closer to the room door to have 4 to 5 bar signal.

Few things, checking-in and out took so much time. I just do not find that acceptable. Also, upon checking-in I have asked front desk to register me for the LeClub Accorhotels membership, he took the brochure and the card and seemed to have done it as he said he will give the card to me upon checking out. When I checked out, he seemed to have forgotten it, that I needed to remind him of it. I have noticed he took another brochure with a card from the desk. So does that mean no registration was done upon checking in? Location and room are very nice. I asked for corniche view which was given, and also remembered booking a room with bath tub, but this was missing. I called front desk to change, we waited for him to check and call us back, he did not call back, so I called again and he seemed to have forgotten again about our request. So they moved me but view was not that good, as the room has small window too. It is no big deal, but the thing is I was told it would also be corniche side. Overall, we still enjoyed our stay. Thank you. This is my 2nd time to use Mercure, first was back in 2015 in Abu Dhabi. I answered No below for the Le Club as I am unsure.

The washroom was smelling, the room felt dusty... No hair dryer the TV is placed low so watching it form the bed lying straight not possible the office desk chair has very dirty cloth.. Overall Big change needed in furnishings...
