« My Stay in Bordeaux »

I spent three nights at Ibis Styles, Gare Saint Jean, Bordeaux and it was excellent. The hotel was about 200 meters from the railway station, and, as with all Ibis hotels was clean, comfortable and the staff friendly. The hotel has easy access to trams going in to and out of Bordeaux at €1.90 and bus to and from the airport. I will be using the same hotel again on my next visit to Bordeaux

« Grubby bathroom sets the tone. »

We had changed hotels from the Ibis Budget to the Style for our last night's stay in Bordeaux. We should have stayed in the Budget! The Styles bathroom in our room was dirty. I doubt it had seen a scrubbing brush (the shower) in a long time. Green mold growing alongside the glass in the shower is inexcusable. The grout between the small tiles was filthy, and corners of the shower were also growing green and black mold. What a turn-off! Room was slightly larger than the Budget, but no significant difference for our money, which we paid another 30-40 euros for.

« The hotel easily met my expectations. »

On arrival at the hotel, my TV did not work. I informed reception on the way out for the afternoon and evening. On my return, my TV was working. I was impressed by the quick repair. I have stayed in another Ibis Styles where the breakfast room was very small and therefore crowded but in this hotel, there was plenty of space and the breakfast was very good. Overall, the stay was comfortable.

« Expensive, horrid decor, mosquito ridden small room »

Spotlessly clean but very small rooms for the price. The decor was gaudy and old fashioned. We felt we were staying in a kids playroom. The worst thing was the room was full of mosquitoes due to the grass roof, which was completely covered in fag ends, outside our room. The reception staff were polite and helpful but not overly cheerful. Only stayed there as we needed to be by the station somwont be staying there again.

« The worst »

The room smelled like smoke cigarette. The bathroom walls were dirty with mold, it seemed like they were never been cleaned. The beds were hideous. The worst hotel I have ever stayed in. I had to cancel my remaining days at the hotel, because it was unbearable.

« Yet again another great stay! »

Stayed here before a couple of years ago before the TGV work was finished across the road at Gare St Jean.. We had a great stay then and wondered whether this would be different, and whether the area had changed. Apart from a couple more vagrants and beggars around the station area, out of the control of the hotel, I was pleasantly surprised to see that very little had changed at all. The two nearby knocking shops were still clearly in business, and the Cafe du Levant is still a great place to eat. Most of all I appreciated that nothing had changed at the hotel at all, whoever the manager is they pick their staff very well, nothing but smiles and pleasantries all round. Even when my dog went to sleep at the bar! Our room was always returned clean and tidy and the bathroom was spotlessly cleaned throughout, even after a muddy dog had returned the night before. Although the area around the station is quite bohemian, and can feel busy, I never felt unsafe at all and the hotel was very well attended by staff and reception closely supervised. I also felt that my car was being well looked after too, the hotel car park was very secure. All in all a very good stay, again, and we shall return next year. The old city and port is only a 20 minute walk or 5 minute tram ride away, so if you are looking for somewhere interesting to stay in Bordeaux away from the tourists try here. (You can also get to Paris in 2 hours by TGV from the station over the road)

Close to railway station and tram stop. Breakfast adequate in a clean and bright environment. Room small but adequate for a short stay and facilitates sufficient. No English TV channel available. Staff in breakfast room were pleasant and helpful.

« It could've been better »

The fruit salad tastes very bad other than that it was ok. We had many problems with our room. First of all, the tv wasn't working for one whole day, we couldn't turn it off so we told the reception and they didn't actually fix it otherwise when we came back we would have been able to turn it on again. So we called the reception, and the person in charge at this time couldn't do anything. Secondly, the shower gel ran out two nights before our check out day in the bath tub and it was never being replaced with the new one and we thought they would change it but they didn't. And also, there was a problem from the start with the bath tub as the water wouldn't go down as quick as it should so when we were in the shower it would flood. Lastly, I don't really understand your washing system. It says if you want to have your towels washed put them on the floor in order to help the environment so that they don't have to renew it for us all the time. However, we never put our towels on the floor so why do they keep giving up new ones? So how is this helping the environment?

« Enjoyable staff »

The good Nice clean room and comfortable bed and pillow. The shower was clean and very good. The breakfast was good and we enjoyed the fresh orange juice machine The less good The mattress of the bed was made of foam along with a mattress topper which while comfortable, is also known to make you hot when you sleep on it. I mention this because this can be a challenge for those who may experience hot flushes.

from arrival to departure we had a great stay. we found all staff members friendly, proactive and helpful. the room was clean and provided the expected basic amenities. the breakfast options were great
