« Overnight stay after arriving on Eurostar »

Our confirmation said our room would be ready at 12.00we arrived at 14.45 and were told we would need to wait 15 minutes. When we then went to our room we received three calls from housekeeping asking why we wer in the room as it was not ready although it appeared to us that is was. We booked and paid for the room about 2 months ago. Despite this the receptionist asked for a card but said it would not be charged. When I checked my account later I found an outstanding authorisation for £109.00 which effectively blocks those funds on my account from use. When I complained I was told it would be reversed. We stayed on Friday it is now Thursday of the next week and the authorisation is still on my account. Not a great start but hopefully things will be better when we stay again prior to our trip home. We alsways in Accor hotels when in France and usually the experience is excellent.

A good quality hotel with high standards of cleanliness, good sized rooms, efficient air con (very welcome!) and friendly, helpful staff. Good location, very convenient for railway station (SNCF) and town centre.

The stay was only marred by two incidents. The first was on our second night when we were trying to have a relaxing drink poolside, there were five or six young people in the pool being quite rowdy at midnight! The third night, they came in again between 10-11 so we left the area, along with other people, as they were shouting anc splashing again. Not good enough. You stated to us the pool shut at 9pm???

Hotel and facilities good but staff were unconcerned about any issues we reported. The sign for the hotel parking was pointing in the wrong direction and we ended up having to park at the train station. The staff seemed unconcerned by this. The air conditioning in the room was not working - the staff again seemed unconcerned and just said it was 'complicated'. We would not have booked the hotel if we new there was no air conditioning.

The hotel is located nearby the central station of Avignon. The old city center is at a short walk. Very friendly personnel. The bed is of excellent quality

It’s a great hotel with a few minor problems and one big problem. The minor problems are, no proper mugs or cups in bedrooms just paper cups. You are providing tea and coffee making facilities but only providing paper cups. The lack of gluten free bread in the breakfast buffet. My wife is a coeliac, great provision of cereal but no gf bread. Breakfast is great besides that. The major criticism is the poor level of air conditioning in the bedroom. You know how hot Southern France is in summer, the air conditioning in the rooms is simply not good enough. These criticisms are frustrating as the hotel is good but it is not far from being excellent. I would consider returning, the location of the hotel is great and the staff were good. Please sort out the minor issues and the air conditioning.

HOT and a bit on the uncomfortable side. Outside temperature was (evening) 84F ... inside the room .... hot. the least the hotel should have done (besides say "sorry" was to offer a no charge breakfast, something..... For a two person stay, I believe two bottles of water would be the proper amount, not one. And with no air conditioning ...... one bottle ????

Large comfortable suite. Minor gripe was that having checked in online and provided credit card for guarantee was asked for the same information again which resulted in a second debit on my credit card which was cancelled when I pointed it out at checkout. However if I hadn't checked my credit card statement online could have led to complications !

« Disappointing. No WiFi for 3 days, no a/c at all, second rate breakfast. »

The most dissapointing aspect was that without air conditioning the room was too hot to sleep comfortably. If I had known we would have changed our booking. The Ibis along the road had a/c. Also Ibis say they will resolve all problems in 15 minutes, Novotel failed to resolve the problem in the 9 days we stayed. I feel we should have been charged for a 2 star hotel rather than the claimed 4 star. I will definitely be cautious about booking at Novotel in the future.

« Nice stay but HOT room. »

I am a frequent guest at this hotel and plan to stay there again only due to location to my work. Unfortunately, AGAIN there was an air problem. This time the air did not work and it was blamed on the road work???? Was told they cut a line or something??? LOL On another stay my air did not work again due to the heal/cold not yet being turned over. I am telling you that if I am HOT or COLD in my room I can not get a good sleep my job suffers. People are very nice. Nice hotel. Great pool area. But when its hot outside and hot in my room that ruins all of it.

No air conditioning and no explanation or recompense. We had to ask 3 times for a fan. Breakfast queues were long which was annoying. Rooms nice but a bit tired. I felt it was a little expensive for what we got.

The air conditioning did not work so it was easily over 35 degrees in our room. Our room was above a courtyard that echoed all the noise from the restaurant below until 2 am. We called 3 times about the noise and the heat and we received little sympathy. The staff was very rude. I wont stay at a Novotel again

The hotel may look good but the lack of AC and the vacuum that the courtyard creates for noise until 2 am.. not worth an ounce of your time and money. When we called for fans or to make sure the noise was managed, the staff handled it poorly. When we complained upon check out it seemed no one cared. I will never stay at a Novotel again. Terrible service and no empathy.

« Nice hotel and good location - but no air-con »

The reception was personal and the hotel well decorated. The beds are comfortable. The design of the bathroom is attractive, however, the shower is not powerful and the electrical outlet does not allow the recharge of of a tooth-brush. The restaurant was nice, but nothing special. As we had warm weather, the pool was definitely an extra. The garage was spacious and easily accessible.

For a 4 star hotel, this hotel is rather simple (very clean and comfortable room) but what it lacks in décor it makes up with very helpful, pleasant and responsive staff, several who would greet us by our name during our stay. Extremely well located, easy access for travelling to tour other towns and just a short walk to the town center. Great little gym, good size interior parking.

Enjoyed our stay very much, particularly liked the space and set up of the junior suite room; well worth the extra cost. Enjoyed a good evening meal in the hotel. Staff always very friendly and helpful. The only disappointment was the breakfast; on previous visits to this hotel ( years ago...) the breakfast was excellent, lots of choice, and something for everyone - indeed, this was the main reason why we rebooked to stay here. However, on this occasion, well, it was ok I suppose, but only that. The sausages were almost uncooked, the bacon very poor, and there was no option to order eggs other than the rather sloppy scramble; no pancakes. A pity really, because otherwise its our no1 choice of hotel in Avignon.

« Quite a disappointment »

There was much fanfare about the opening of the 'Patio' restaurant , and we prepaid for dinner when booking. Unfortunately it was a disappointment and seems to bow to the fad for 'bowl' food. The payment amount was more than the menu price in the restaurant. Fortunately, the staff eventually understood my frustration when I tried to explain to them to rip up the pre-paid voucher and I will pay for what I want, not the fixed menu selection . From memory I think it was a choice of 2 starters and 2 mains.My wife does not eat red meat and so there was no real choice for her. It was all sorted with good grace by the end of the meal, but the restaurant is pretty much uninspiring and is more like a cafe.
